Yes and no:
Could it technically be ported over to EVO? Sure. Would we want to? Well, would you want to put ChromeOS, Windows 98, or Ubuntu on your phone as an everyday driver? Point is, it's not designed for a screen as small as a phone's, even the EVO's glorious 4" LCD. For those of you who complain that anything below 240 dpi is hard to read, you'd be hauling a microscope around to read the text on a Honeycomb port.

You may have missed the stories where people ran the Honeycomb emulator as a handset and got a more traditional Android UI. Even Anderwebs tweeted that Honeycomb is already half compatible with handsets and it should be fully compatible by the time it launches.

I wouldn't be surprised if it booted on a phone. In fact, I'd be surprised if it didn't. What I was saying is that the framework is probably made specifically for tablet size displays. It'd probably be all broken on a small resolution.
Edit: If it did boot, you might be able to increase the software DPI but then everything would be super tiny and unusable as a day to day. Plus I don't know if the Adreno 200 GPU drivers would play nice with the new 2D/3D acceleration. So it might not work correctly or even boot on our EVOs.

You make some very good points. I did boot, within the emulator, to a 4.3 inch screen and it looked usable. Your point about the drivers is well taken though. That could be a big issue. Hopefully some enterprising dev will try to find out.
By the way...anyone know how to change the screen orientation in the emulator?
Sent from my CM7 Supersonic 4G
Well, they got a (decently) running version of the honeycomb sdk to boot on evo. This includes the launcher which was having some issues running on lower resolutions in the android emulator.

Running off of a sdk on your phone is a waste. I think I'd rather wait and see what happens after honeycombs source is released. :3
Besides Honeycomb is optimized for tablets. Why waste your time trying to get it on a phone when theres rumors saying Ice Cream will be honeycomb and gingerbread mashed together. I think I'll stick with my brand new CM7 RC1 release.

The answer is still: We will have to wait and see how the source code from the Nexus is useful, which depends on which hardware elements it shares with our Epics.

I don't see why you need to be insulting people who want to get a Nexus S 4G. It seems like a good phone for someone who wants to have the latest android releases immediately available to them. My wife is probably getting the Nexus S 4G as an upgrade from her HTC Hero. The main reason is that she loves CM7 on her Hero and I can't guarantee her CM7 (or future CM releases) on any other phone for sprint. You calling her stupid or in your words "nobody smart" is pretty ridiculous on multiple levels, but mostly because her reasons for getting the Nexus are sound.

When I get a new phone....hopefully...soon, I'm not real sure what it will be. The Nexus just feels AWESOME in your hand but I'm used to the slide out keyboard. The GSII sounds awesome as well but we saw how the support was on the Samsung side plus TW makes development SO much more difficult.
The Nexus S 4G isn't really a step forward like the GSII or the EVO 3D will be. It would also be hard to leave the SAMOLED screen for Super LCD/TFT. Decisions...Decisions...
Been using a 3 years old Palm Pre and have been amazed at how it just works. The specs of the HP Pre 3 look to be pretty solid. I love how emails works correctly on the Pre. I hate the unreliability of email polling on Android in general.

Just watched the stream and here are my thoughts:
Ice Cream Sandwich looks like a crap. Personally it looks like a jumbled honeycomb and WP7 aka "Magazine Interface". Google had the chance to pick up the ball Apple dropped and make the design a little more inviting. From the the blue Tron glow of the dialer to the metro like interface of the people app (?) it's like 5 different themes jumbled into one.
Hardware wise, it gets a meh. I'm just excited to get the larger screen plus Super Amoled HD
Despite that, the features are amazing. I was particularly blown away by the instant voice, nfc sharing, and new photo features. Android has come along way.
Shame they didn't touch on ICS for tablets as this was the OS that ties phone and tablet together.
In another note, reading the Engadget comments, I'm particularity amused that most "comments" (apple fanboys) believe that this was the first time Android featured folders. HA! Take that Apple!
So because it has squares an swipes to side its metro ui???

Face it, the Vibrant is DOA. Either be happy as it sits, or move on. I'm outtie.
I liked ICS and the phone. I just wish the phone had a better GPU, it has practically the same GPU in our current vibrant (power vr sgx 540).
The Super Amoled HD screen should be impressive, then again with that higher resolution a better GPU would have been nice!
If the phone comes to T-mobile or At&t soon, I will get it.

No luck there...I ditched my Vibrant for the amaze. Samsung build quality is **** in comparison. Hell, my N1 is built like a tank...plastic bezels are for cheap phones--why Sammy keeps using them blows my mind. I'd rather fight s-off/etc. with a well built device than deal with the gsII/ Prime's cheap build quality.
As for ICS, it's all a software gimmick. Skins really do make a difference. AOSP is for boring ****s that think bare-bones is attractive. If that were the case, I would've married a 12 y.o. girl.

In the United States, phones are very cheap.
That's not the case in other countries, you can read about it here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/feature/outside-the-big-tech-scene/
Maybe in the US you can allow to upgrade your phone each year or even less, in other countries you usually stay with your phone for much longer.
So, I don't think the Vibrant will be forgotten so soon.
Even the G1 phone has some unofficial mods for Gingerbread and even Honeycomb.
So why would our phone be forgotten?

It should help.
i think, kernel not stable! But still try!
I'm sure there will be a stable ics rom for the aria even if its not cm9. I have a very early one on my aria atm which runs well. Its not my everyday phone so idc that it does not have mobile or wifi lol. I just wanted to play around with ics.
IMO the sense 2.1 + 3.0 rom is more resource intensive than an aosp build of ICS. We'll see a smooth port on the aria, I'm sure of it. Not supporting the N1 was a business decision on Google's part not to support legacy hardware.

And here's an update: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cm9-progress-update.
From the sounds of it doesn't look like we gonna get Cm9. Good thing we have a build in the works already.

Really? I think with CM7, the Aria still has a lot of juice left.
I still cannot justify an upgrade at this point, even if we do not get CM9 or another ICS port.
Like me little ARIA.

Concur!! Still like the smaller phones with a very versatile functionality. Would liike to see ICS on this fine phone, but will still keep the ARIA if that never transpirers.
