So, I"m getting dell logo of death...
I received my dell streak with stock 1.6
rooted phone, installed clockworks, and tried to install streakdroid 1.6.1 from update-1.6.1.zip..
Install failed, tried to install stock 1.6 from zip (clockworks) with no success.
Then after some help tried streakdroid 1.6, then streakdroid 1.5.1.
Each time I've "cleared cash" or w/e. give phone at least an hour to try to install.

I don't see in your post where you used the QDL tool to go from Stock 1.6 to Stock 2.2 305 and then to Stock 2.2 318 BEFORE using StreakMod to flash Steve's 1.61.
You said you are not a noob. Don't act like one. READ all of the instructions FIRST before you try to go any further. You should be able to recover using the QDL tool.
I'm not trying to flame you. It's just that there is a wealth of knowledge here. Search tool is your friend.
Lol Never go straight from stock 1.6 to. DJ Steave1.6.1 .... That's just asking for trouble.

What do you think I should do next? Use this QDL?
inorder for me to flash custom roms on my streak, i literally had to go from the stock AT&T 1.6 to the stock O2 1.6 rom, then from there the O2 2.1 rom and then I was finally able to get streakdroid to flash and boot.
It's been awhile tho so not sure if anything has changed since then, but I had to flash in that order with 3 different phone else streakdroid or any other custom roms would not boot. After going thru that BS the one time, I don't have nearly any problems flashing new roms now. Was wierd. =P
Most definitely QDL to stock 2.2. That will get you through the first step. Then to 318 and lastly to Streakdroid 1.6.1

I want to do everything from a clean slate to not risk screwing everything up. Is there any way I can get out of DJ Steves 1.5 rom and back to the O2 stock Froyo? Otherwise is there at least a build with swype? Thank you for your time.
Doesn't steve's 1.5 have swype?
Over at modaco Dj_Steve uploaded the official dell 2.2 as a .zip so you can flash it via recovery.
If not, in the android development thread theres one with upgrade and downgrade guides.
Eh, I was an idiot. Just realized roms arent flashing due to no recovery image. I can't get a recovery image on there... its locked to one that will not let me boot absolutely anything at all. Any ideas (and ive tried fastbooting the new one and all, I'm getting nothing)
hello guys as the title says I bought the dell streak from best buy on jan 2 and was trying to put the 2.2 on it, so I did the one click root and it worked, but then by mistake I did the fastboot mode .... and root it again .... after that the phone got stuck on the dell logo with the flashing lights......
is there a way to run the stock recovery and rom on the computer so I can fix my phone.... please I need input.....
I want to restore the phone again .... can somebody help me ...????
is it fixable?? I have a dell streak white at&t 1.6 android 6601
thanks..... please help!
Can you still get into fastboot or recovery?

yes I can still get into fastboot or recovery mode I tried running some rom's but after the half point an error comes out and aborts the new roms...
If you can get into fastboot and recovery your fine. I recommend the qdl route personally.

Only way to upgrade the white dell streaks is with the qdl tool. Theres something about them... All other methods just leave you in a boot loop. Go to the guide section of streakdroid.com it has everything you need to get to 2.2, including a great video tutorial.

use QDL holmes, or better yet exchange it and get a black one. I could never get the white one to work. I eventually bricked it, took it back and got a black one. Never tried anything with the black one until last night, and it went flawlessly with QDL.

well you are going about this all backwards... first and foremost. You have a white streak, so the ONLY way to get 2.2 is through the QDL tool. Secondly, no matter what color the streak is, you cannot jump directly to one of steves builds from 1.6(donut). You flashed the 2.2 baseband, which is not compatible with your current stock rom, that will kill your data and phone connection amongst many other things. You need to go to streakdroid.com, take a look at the guides section and then upgrade via the QDL tool. That is your only way other than waiting for the OTA.
OK so I have used the following versions:
Streakdroid 1.4.6
Streaksroid 1.5.0
1.5.1
1.6.0
1.6.1
And the O2 version of the dell steak.
And personally I like 1.4.6 most.
I wanna know what everyone else thinks.

I've only run the O2 Versions (1.6 and 2.2) while StreakDroid does look nice, it hasn't got anything I really want. (rooted btw)
Streakdroid 1.7.0 v7. Gonna install 1.7.0 final tomorrow morning.

I was on stock 1.6 for less than a day, the day I bought it.
That night I upgraded to "official" 2.2 baseband 305.
After a week I was on DJ_Steve's 1.5.1
Then 1.6.0
Then 1.6.1 as they were released.
To test stability, I went back to 305.
Then I upgraded to the "official" 318.
That's where I am right now, and have been for about a week. 318 is the most stable I've used so far, but that still doesn't mean that it is perfect. I have had a couple of Force Closes with it, and every now and then I get the screen laggyness.
I have downloaded 1.7.0 and will upgrade to that probably on Monday at work if we are slow.
Currently happy with 318
tried 318 with performance fix, didn't notice anything great. so went back to stock.
tried 322 and performed buggy for me with notification issue and general pauses/lockups that i don't experience in 318

318 stock. I'm not reading any advantages to going to any other build. At least with this one I'm not having any issues with my apps.
StreakDroid 1.7.0
318 stock, cannot really see any advantages of other roms (besides Quadrant scores maybe )
Steve's 1.7. I'm not reading any advantages to going to staying with a stock build. At least with this one I'm not having any issues with my apps/bloatware.
The rom moves forward every so often, and it is much smoother than the stock rom. Theres nothing wrong with sticking to stock roms. But theres lots to gain by going to the custom rom. because who would honestly say that 2.1 is better than 2.2?

wow! Now I'm glad I didn't wait.
I'm running stock 318. Been really happy with it, it's super stable. Don't see enough of a benefit to try anything else. If Dell or someone comes out with Honeycomb then I'll jump to that. Otherwise I'm sticking with stock 318.
I am running Steve's 1.7
I would hate my phone if I was still running 1.6

when i first received my streak i had every thing rdy to flash it i jumped from stock 2.2 to 1.6.0, it was a nightmare at first it was my first streak flash and i couldnt make it boot, i said this streak is a ***** to flash but after few hours i manage it to make it boot.

Go with the QDL tool. That will put you on Froyo 2.2 build 305. Then upgrade to the previously final build of 318 through Dell's website. It is an official upgrade, and works just fine while being lockd to AT&T.
Thats what I did. Bought a $99 Streak locked through AT&T on-contract. Then I was on Froyo 2.2 build 318, still locked to AT&T, still on-contract. It said AT&T in the corner, and it used 3G speeds. Nothing to complain about. Loved it. So much more functionality that Donut 1.6 doesn't have.
Hi Guys......
I have a White Best buy Streak Locked ATT. I am running DJ steve 1.7.0 on baseband GAUSB1A131800. Can some body help me to get back to Att Stock 1.6 (Build 6601) with the original baseband. How do I downgrade it?....I used QDL tool to get to 2.2 . From there it was easy to get to Steves 1.4.1 Since then I ve tried all versions of Steve.
Is there a tutorial that i can get back???....

I decided to update my Streak to the official build 340 today and it installed but I now have the flashing lights thing.
I used the streakmod to install the update. I tried using rom manager to do it but it doesn't work.
Is there something I can do to stop the flashing lights?

Why are you guys going from an unlocked build to a locked at&t build? You're only gonna havebless features and more preinstalled at&t bloatware.

I am just trying the official build to see what it's like. I need my phone for work and can't really deal writh instability.
Is DJ Steve's latest build stable? I can't get a clear answer to that question.

Its different for each person. I started with a fresh 309 build then upgraded to a factory reset 318 and didn't configure anything then flashed 1.8.0 and had zero issues. Upgraded to 1.8.1 and still have zero issues. Everything works great on mine. I use it as my everyday phone. But like I said others haven't had it that smooth but I'm not sure if they came from a complete factory reinstall like I did.

Go check out the tutorial for using the QDL tool on streakdroid.com. It'll get you to a stock Dell 2.2. A word of advice though, the tutorial has you download all necessary drivers, but does not give the step for installing the ADB driver. The driver is there, you just have to pick the proper one for your system.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yes I did the QDL tool thing and the hard part was getting the right drivers for the qualcom thing and then the ADB tool.
But, it worked. I briefly had streaddroid 1.8.1 on my system. It looked alright and my phone worked. I didn't test wifi though since I moved on to the QDL tool trying to get to 2.2.2 which I'm really confused about apparently.
Once you use QDL to get 2.2 make sure you do system updates after that to get up to the most current build.
