What are you running on your streak ? - Streak 5 General

OK so I have used the following versions:
Streakdroid 1.4.6
Streaksroid 1.5.0
1.5.1
1.6.0
1.6.1
And the O2 version of the dell steak.
And personally I like 1.4.6 most.
I wanna know what everyone else thinks.

I've only run the O2 Versions (1.6 and 2.2) while StreakDroid does look nice, it hasn't got anything I really want. (rooted btw)

Streakdroid 1.7.0 v7. Gonna install 1.7.0 final tomorrow morning.
Sent from my Dell Streak

I was on stock 1.6 for less than a day, the day I bought it.
That night I upgraded to "official" 2.2 baseband 305.
After a week I was on DJ_Steve's 1.5.1
Then 1.6.0
Then 1.6.1 as they were released.
To test stability, I went back to 305.
Then I upgraded to the "official" 318.
That's where I am right now, and have been for about a week. 318 is the most stable I've used so far, but that still doesn't mean that it is perfect. I have had a couple of Force Closes with it, and every now and then I get the screen laggyness.
I have downloaded 1.7.0 and will upgrade to that probably on Monday at work if we are slow.

Currently happy with 318
tried 318 with performance fix, didn't notice anything great. so went back to stock.
tried 322 and performed buggy for me with notification issue and general pauses/lockups that i don't experience in 318

Streakdroid 1.7
I follow Steve's lead.

318 stock. I'm not reading any advantages to going to any other build. At least with this one I'm not having any issues with my apps.

StreakDroid 1.7.0

318 stock, cannot really see any advantages of other roms (besides Quadrant scores maybe )

Steve's 1.7. I'm not reading any advantages to going to staying with a stock build. At least with this one I'm not having any issues with my apps/bloatware.
The rom moves forward every so often, and it is much smoother than the stock rom. Theres nothing wrong with sticking to stock roms. But theres lots to gain by going to the custom rom. because who would honestly say that 2.1 is better than 2.2?

wow! Now I'm glad I didn't wait.
I'm running stock 318. Been really happy with it, it's super stable. Don't see enough of a benefit to try anything else. If Dell or someone comes out with Honeycomb then I'll jump to that. Otherwise I'm sticking with stock 318.

I am running Steve's 1.7
I would hate my phone if I was still running 1.6

Go with the QDL tool. That will put you on Froyo 2.2 build 305. Then upgrade to the previously final build of 318 through Dell's website. It is an official upgrade, and works just fine while being lockd to AT&T.
Thats what I did. Bought a $99 Streak locked through AT&T on-contract. Then I was on Froyo 2.2 build 318, still locked to AT&T, still on-contract. It said AT&T in the corner, and it used 3G speeds. Nothing to complain about. Loved it. So much more functionality that Donut 1.6 doesn't have.

How to acheive 318 Upgrade coming from US 1.6

Hi I would like to upgrade my father & a friend's Streak. They are both running US AT&T. I had messed with mine for 1 whole day before I could get to Froyo. I went to O2 1.6, then was stuck trying to get the 8105(O2 2.1) I eventually installed Froyo by using the CLEAN UNTOUCHED method.
I am not trying to go through this nightmare again!!!! Can anyone tell me if I install the 309 recovery image, then use Update.pkg with the 318 update if it will take them straight from 1.6 to 2.2. Or if I just perform the CLEAN UNTOUCHED method posted by DJ Steve will that work coming from ATT 1.6?
Install o2 1.6 and then it will tell you there is an update. it will download and install 02 2.2 for you
Thanks, I hope its that EASY!!!
After I install the O2 update, can I just upgrade using the 318 package, so that his phone shows as a unit ending in 00 baseband, instead of being tied to O2 network? Do you know if installing the O2 update will give him the 309 recovery?

What i would do is once you have upgraded i would put the 309 recovery on then run the 318 update no need to run the 02 2.2 update
The best and cleanest route is to use QDL Tool to go straight from ATT 1.6 to ATT 2.2 build 308 then apply the 318.pkg
whole process should only take about 30 minutes.
Tool can be found here: streakdroid DOT com /?page_id=15[/url]
its called repairtool on the right column
I tried the QDL tool, but since I have a windows 7 & 64 bit, there was a lot of driver changes that I needed to apply. Once I successfully had that installed it showed the QUALCOMM modem, but didn't show up as DIAGNOSTIC. So when I connected the Streak it showed up as some port.....but not what I needed it to show as.

Tied to the o2 network? OK, so what's the disadvantage of being tied to the o2 network?
Hmmmm maybe I should go back to o2 2.1 and upgrade to 18 instead of 19? I remember seeing some tweaked kernel files thread that might help this thing run better.

Nevermind, really, im sticking to what ive got until the official us version comes out. So, another 6 months then
I would advise against that Carhigh....You would be missing out on all the wonderful capabilities of the Streak and Android 2.2. What Baseband & version of Android do you have installed now?
I'm already on o2 2.2, 619 I think. The one released last week. I was wondering why people are going to 618, instead of the over the air 619, which is what I did. And instead of screwing around with it, might as well wait for official us 2.2 then just go to that. Shouldn't be to long of a wait, but who knows how long it will really be. Unless going fro 619 to 618 is really worth it.......

Then after some help tried streakdroid 1.6, then streakdroid 1.5.1.
Each time I've "cleared cash" or w/e. give phone at least an hour to try to install.

I don't see in your post where you used the QDL tool to go from Stock 1.6 to Stock 2.2 305 and then to Stock 2.2 318 BEFORE using StreakMod to flash Steve's 1.61.
You said you are not a noob. Don't act like one. READ all of the instructions FIRST before you try to go any further. You should be able to recover using the QDL tool.

What do you think I should do next? Use this QDL?
inorder for me to flash custom roms on my streak, i literally had to go from the stock AT&T 1.6 to the stock O2 1.6 rom, then from there the O2 2.1 rom and then I was finally able to get streakdroid to flash and boot.
It's been awhile tho so not sure if anything has changed since then, but I had to flash in that order with 3 different phone else streakdroid or any other custom roms would not boot. After going thru that BS the one time, I don't have nearly any problems flashing new roms now. Was wierd. =P
Most definitely QDL to stock 2.2. That will get you through the first step. Then to 318 and lastly to Streakdroid 1.6.1

Its different for each person. I started with a fresh 309 build then upgraded to a factory reset 318 and didn't configure anything then flashed 1.8.0 and had zero issues. Upgraded to 1.8.1 and still have zero issues. Everything works great on mine. I use it as my everyday phone. But like I said others haven't had it that smooth but I'm not sure if they came from a complete factory reinstall like I did.

Go check out the tutorial for using the QDL tool on streakdroid.com. It'll get you to a stock Dell 2.2. A word of advice though, the tutorial has you download all necessary drivers, but does not give the step for installing the ADB driver. The driver is there, you just have to pick the proper one for your system.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yes I did the QDL tool thing and the hard part was getting the right drivers for the qualcom thing and then the ADB tool.
But, it worked. I briefly had streaddroid 1.8.1 on my system. It looked alright and my phone worked. I didn't test wifi though since I moved on to the QDL tool trying to get to 2.2.2 which I'm really confused about apparently.
Once you use QDL to get 2.2 make sure you do system updates after that to get up to the most current build.

Update to 345
Thanks fone-fanatic... I've been doing some heavy reading tonight though in many forums and I finally ran across a thread in MoDaCo that stated that 318 was the latest version with performance mods. So, for the moment I think I'm gonna stick to the 318 until Steve has recommends an upgraded version of one of the newer basebands. I figure that's the logical thing to do.... but you're still gonna get a thanks from me fella!!
Thanks for the link to all the dell files! I downloaded the 350 amms file and flashed it to my dj steve 1.9 streak and havent had any issues. I would like to know what the differences between the different amms files are though. I will report back any issues I have. I wish 347 was up there also, but I'm glad I have the latest baseband at least. Hopefully there are some improvements.

Bell Gingerbread Update

Just got a text from bell telling me I could update my phone through Samsung Kies. I'm running Darky's Stable 9.5 right now, do I have to flash stock rom before going for gingerbread?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
most likely unless you use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959806 to trick kies into thinking you got a stock one for your refion etc.
I just got this message too, but i highly doubt its gingerbread. Anyone actually find out what the update is?
I got the same message. Can anyone confirm that it is for Gingerbread?
Hehe, is anyone left using a stock rom? Lol

Same....
Need some confirmation.
I just received the same text from Bell.
There is a new version of keis to install. Once installed it's showing I have the latest firmware at KC1.
Not sure what this is all about. Hopefully a prelude to gingerbread.
same here , hoping someone here can post what this does for them , im not on stock and not really wanting to find out the hard way what it is.
bell.ca/galaxyupdate
So from reading the information, there is no word on exactly what is being upgraded other than software. From speculation, wouldn't that mean it has to be 2.3 at least.
I just got the same text message so I plugged into Kies. It says this is the latest firmware. I upgraded my Kies last night and I am still on stock firmware (KC1). So the wait continues I guess.
I called Samsung support and was told that they were being flooded by calls over this today and that the notification was for the KC1 update. I've been running KC1 for about a month now... Bell Mobilty Canada slack much?

Are you serious?! That makes me so sad.
*sigh*
What a letdown...
Either way, thanks for the confirmation. Now we all know the reason the text was sent out from Bell. Our only hope now is that they (Bell) is trying to push everyone to update their phones to the latest firmware in preparation for Gingerbread.
KC1 compared to JL2?
Need some advice here. I'm still on JL2 (rooted). Thinking about upgrading to KC1, but I hear that doing so wipes out the root, and it's very difficult to root it again on 2.2.1. I also read that some people find the GPS performance went down with KC1.
So what are the actual advantages of upgrading to KC1? Or am I better off just holding out for Gingerbread?

You're misinformed. Rooting 2.2.1 is just as easy as 2.2. But it doesn't matter because KC1 is still 2.2, not 2.2.1.
KC1 any good?
So what are the advantages of KC1 over JL2?
Can I still apply oneclickroot on KC1 to root it?

Honestly, if you are 100% happy with JL2 I don't think KC1 would be worth upgrading to. Wait for Gingerbread or flash JVK/JVB yourself. I believe there are some fixes in regards to how roaming is handled but there's nothing you would actually notice.
The new update is just a modem upgrade that gives support for using this device overseas. It does wipe out root but superoneclick 1.9.1 reroots it easily.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
i assumed it was for KC1 since i never got any notice from them when it first came out. The KC1 modem apparently uses a fair bit more battery and it supposed to improve using your phone in the US.
JS8 with the JL2 modem has been the best to me so far.
If this is the case I won't bother to update to KC1, JL2 works just fine with my rooted ROM .
Does anyone know if Bell is even testing Gingerbread?

I thought it was bell that is slow with the updates. Doesn't bell add their extra stuff for the i9000m specifically? Whatever the case though, someone's definitely dropping the ball on the updates.
