Using an unbranded unlocked SGSII. All the carrier branded ones are irrelevant for me now.

Yes irrelevant even for me ... But there a lot folks who buy from carriers due to discounted prices on handset.

You cannot use unbranded devices on VZW. And if you want good service in the US you need VZW (I know, subjective to location, but it is a fact that VZW has the best spectrum almost everywhere).
I have been using unbranded devices for a long time on ATT but will switch to VZW when the QWERTY samsung comes out.
If you think about it though, if you have service for 2+ years and dont sign a contract you have just lost a lot of money. I should have bought an iphone, jailbroken it and sold it for at or above retail . Even if you end up leaving and paying etf you still break even or make $$ if the etf is prorated..
Im on AT&T like everyone else in this post.
Looks like GS2 made it here 1st

And if you travel outside the US at all, you want GSM/UMTS and that means AT&T.
That's not counting the few hybrid "world phones" that VZW carries, which the CDMA(LTE?) SGS2 won't be.
Very true. I have used AT&T phones (Iphone 3Gs and I897) in Korea, Japan, Haiti, Iraq, Kuwait, Germany, Ireland. Although it is quite expensive for international data/ voice, text is not too bad for a few messages until you can find a wifi connection.
Bricked my Captivate, so now running GS2 in Iraq with local sim. Data works with AT&T APN but too expensive. So for now only wifi connection. Found a great use for my Iphone.....Alarmclock!!

Are you kidding me? First of all please look at my membership date here...you were still in diapers I bet. Grey hair earns me a bit of respect. Typing on
an ipad will upload tomorrow.
1. It's true
2. I don't get it but I think it's still just dc HSPA speed which is maxed at 21 mb, and not 4g. I got 19,956 and 19,383, and 17,067.
That is fast?

I've been a long time lurker but this last statement makes me want to come out of the darkness and say:
PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN
The most I've got in London is 5mb down, 2mb up on T-Mobile. In North London anyway, not sure about central or any where else.
I agree that speed has increased lately, but best I could get are these
I get 12Mbs at work on 3 in the UK (Nottingham) normally between 5 and 6Mbs from home
Sent via TCP/IP
I believe you. I've achieved similar speeds here in Scotland on occasion. It's definitely just good old H+ however.
I'm on 3 as well. It's not always fast, but I do seem to be maintaining a high speed signal for longer these days.

Yee of little faith who have doubted Gandalph the old!
I attach a screenshot. I also don't think this is 4g LTE but rather a good working HSPA+ running below 21mb. I am located in central London.
Nevertheless this is a very impressive speed and raises the question who wants for 4G LTE that few tests have shown reaches over 20 MB???
Edit!
These are my speeds at home im from kent in uk

Still no pics and mate please save your statement. Because while you leeched and posted rubbish posts i developed and modded for a phone. So your argument is invalid. But i don't need to prove no point as i said. PICS or it didn't happen.
Hahaha..
I see the pics now i believe you that is all lad
4G at the moment in the UK is nothing more then a empty bottle. No UK phone is capable of having the 4G. All UK phones and tablets run on 3G. EE will be releasing lte phones in the new year.
The main reason EE have released 4G early is to claw in extra contracts. The biggest problem EE have is there coverage. The coverage is weak and inconsistent for 3G let alone the 4G.
Anyone who is serious about 4G should wait until at least a year.

I'm not joking no UK phone currently runs 4G. Anyone who tells you differently they just don't know how 4G works. If you've got a GS3 or iPhone 5 in the last 6 months on contract with EE they will let you upgrade to the lte verson for £90.00 when they release them next year.
4G coverage will be poor for at least a year if not more for most places. City's and very large towns will have coverage in the next year but the coverage will be dependant on operator.

4G here in Australia reaches 45-50mbps down, now that's real 4g . When I am tethering it is faster then my home WiFi it's crazy !
I have heard some companies around the world b.s. and are really only on fast 3g because speeds don't even reach 20mbps on their so called 4g

Dayton OH Reception

Will be moving from TMO to this phone on ATT shortly.
How is anyones reception in Dayton Ohio. TMO sucks in areas I need good coveage.
Specifically:
Springboro by Dorothy Lane Market
Beavercreek west side off Trebein Rd
Tipp/Troy/Piqua to include a mile or two east and west of 75
Thanks for any feedback. I make business calls in those areas and don't want to spend another 60.00 a month if no better reception--I sometimes can't even make a call in some of those areas--
But, really want the 32gb S4 out on Friday. As does my one son--
It should be lte
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
What?--there is no lte here yet
Sorry I was just in Cincinnati and I assumed Dayton was LTE
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
NP--I saw Newark and assumed NJ as I don't know of one near hear. TMO will get LTE next month and ATT by end of summer in Dayton. Of course that doesn't mean it will be in the areas I am asking about. That's why I am more interested in the 3g in those areas. Why have cell phones got so complicated. I can't decide on an S4, LG Pro, or HTC One. Too many good choices--
It was a lot simpler with my Motorola Bag Phone on Verizon Voice in the early 90's--

Canada / USA Z1 Owners.......Sign In Here

Pretty good here! I get a lot of looks over the Z1 considering how rare Sony is here, especially the Z1 as it's not even available here yet. (USA)
Fine.
USA here , bought my C6906 from a guy who got it from Telus in Canada. The Sony Store in Dallas only had C6902s, so no T-Mobile LTE Bands unless I had gotten another model. So far, pretty satisfied with it, just waiting for my Case and skinomi techskin to come in the mail, as well as a way to root .290 for us LBs.
Loving the phone amazing battery life even on heavy use

Using mine on ATT and loving it. No issues for me.

Bought mine from Handtec UK on launch day C6903, AT&T LTE works in some areas, didn't test it on T-Mobile network but it should be fully compatible with its LTE.
I'm thinking about switching from AT&T to T-Mobile for 2 reasons:
1) There is a higher chance xperia international models supports T-Mobile LTE, well since xperia ZL
2) No Annual Contract and cheaper than AT&T
Anybody had any experience with T-Mobile Service?
Unlocked c6906 here. On rogers network. Blazing fast LTE speeds. Hit 127 down in a crowded shopping mall in Toronto. Absolutely amazing phone. It might not have the highest benchmarks but it's a really well rounded phone that was built with elegant materials. I'm an apple product user. Came from an iPhone 4 when it was first released. And I am impressed with with the quality of the Z1

I'm with T-Mobile. I work all over the US, and as long as your near a decent size town the coverage is generally pretty good. If you get out in the middle of nowhere, you'll be either piggy-backing off of AT&T or possibly have no coverage.
Otherwise, I'm loving my Z1.
T-Mobile here with the 03. Awesome device!

C6903 with T-Mobile
C6903 with Fido in Canada. 100% sold on Sony. Off topic, but I just picked up the QX10 camera from the Sony store. This thing is so fun. Highly recommended.

Cool, then I'll get the $30 prepaid plan from T-Mobile (100 min, Unlimited txt and Data), will try it out and see how is the service in my area:good:
I've got a white unlocked C6906 that I got week one of the Canada release.
I love it in every way, shape and form
Got it the day it was released on bell. I like the phone but a few things bug me.
1. My ZL was the perfect size wish Z1 was that size
2. Camera underwhelmed me a lot it's not horrible but definitely not the step up Sony made it to be. Good in daylight pretty noisy in low light.
But in the end I just bought a Pentax K3 so I could care less about the camera.
3. I've had a few glitches with the stock mms app.
4. Hated the ASF film scratched to easily and Sony didn't etch the logo on the glass.
5. Wished it had an I.R blaster the ZL did
6. Screen isn't class leading this truliminous that Sony speaks of is nothing to write home about, My xperia Z had a better screen. Viewing angles on both aren't great either though.
What I like
1. Fast I mean zero lag, best performing phone I've had.
2. Battery life alone almost makes up for all it shortcomings. I get average 4-5 hours screen on time, simply amazing.
3. Sexy, its a beautiful phone to look at.
4. Sony has been pretty active with the updates
5. Sony Walkman app is great especially if you have music unlimited subscription
6. Head on the screen is very sharp and clear
7. Looks good with my smartwatch 2
8. Shutter button, had it on my ZL then missed it on my Z
9. Waterproof

Bought the C6903 when it was released. I was able to get LTE speed on certain cities in LA with ATT. Just switched to the factory unlocked C6906. Now i have LTE everywhere i go

I just switched from att to tmobile today with my c6903 and im loving it. I was getting lte on att in most areas in miami but sometimes h+ and its the same situation for tmobile....BUT i get fullly unlimited zero throttling data and i use hotspotting in my house 30mbps! my att lte barely got to 15 most times! tmobile is way better and u can use tmobile data and text in over 70 countries free!!! freeee!!!! best company ever. but the tmobile lte is more intermittent then at&t. at least in miami.

Z3 network signal

Hello guys, have had 3 different Z3 and noticed that the places that i had good signal with the Z3 was bad or none. Now i have moved to three UK and have a signal box at home and should always be in full and guess what!? Has 3 and a lot of times u look at it and none then u wait a few minutes and it gains again so think there is a issue with the phones when it comes to signal. What is your views on this regards
Sent from my D6603 using XDA Free mobile app
I'd say you have a defective phone. My 6603 gets better signal than the iPhone 5s it replaced, which is impressive.
It's strange cos is 3 different ones

Mine is on par with my mom's iPhone 6.
Mine is the same, if not better than my M8
Mine has 4g signal at the club i go, whereas before with my z2 and m8 it had 3g, and this is my 3rd z3 and they all had really good signal.
I'm having no problem with mine either.
So far, mine is the best reception (Wi-Fi and cellular) I have had in a phone.

Hey OP, I have the same problem I think
I notice that sometimes I will be in an area and see the signal show up as 1 bar, and then it might shoot up to 3-4 all of a sudden. From what I've noticed, the internet still seems fast even when it's doing that. I'm using straight talk as my SIM. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the phone, or the network. I'm not sure if I should return it. Did you also buy it from ebay from the seller that had it for 600?
