[Q] Droid 2 stuck at boot animation need help ASAP! - Droid 2 General

wanted to update my phone to 2.3 but i rooted and flashed the liberty 1.0 and was looking for a way to go back since Rom Manager did not save my back up so i went to this thread TBH & MyDroidWorld Present: Droid 2 (2.3.20) Triple Threat and followed these steps without uploading anything on to the sd card dumb move i know !
To install the above files you need to follow these directions:
1) boot phone into recovery
2) go to mounts and storage
3) format system
4) mount system
5) install zip from sdcard
6) choose zip from sdcard
there was obviously nothing in there to load so i went back to reboot system and now my phone will not make it pass the first boot screen if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated !
It keeps on looping in boot animation i got it to a screen displayed like this once dont know how though ..
Bootloader
D2.37
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB
and i know how to get here ....
Android system recovery <3e>
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
caution triangle with the ! and the droid symbol in it !
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
But i don't know what to do after i've tried wipe data/factory reset = nothing
Ive tried reboot system now = nothing
Ive tried apply sdcard:update.zip = failed to verify whole-file signature
I am clueless ... even if you can't help maybe spread my post to see if anyone out there can Thanks !

for a noob i figured this out rather quick.. I was stuck in boot animation and i held the center of the volume keys before holding the power button which brings u to...
Bootloader
D2.37
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:

uploaded the SBF but it was the android 2.2 which when i last checked thats what my phone was running on but it after the upload failed i tried the 2.3 Download RSD Lite, the bootloader SBF, and the 2.3.20 SBF from MDW. and next thing you know i'm up and running like 3 legged crack baby ! !! thanks for the help or to myself thanks for reading

[Q] [Help] Clockwork recovery vanishes after reboot!

Hi everyone,
I've managed to install DangerSPL on my 32B Magic via Clockwork Recovery - however, Clockwork Recovery keeps vanishing after each reboot and the standard recovery takes its place... what's with that?
It is suppose to do this? I thought it was suppose to replace the stock Android one permanently?
How do I go about making the install stick?
Thanks!
(My first time rooting, updating etc Android)
Cheers for all the support and help!
Nate.
PS>
When it boots back into Android System Recovery <2e>
It says at the bottom :
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
In /system/recovery.img there is a full copy of everything that is loaded on the recovery partition. This file is automatically flashed onto the recovery partition every time you shut down. That means two things: 1. Any changes you make directly to the recovery partition gets blown away on reboot and 2. If you want to change the recovery partition you're probably better off just sticking the image in /system/recovery.img and rebooting.
So to fix this problem you have to rename the custom recovery file to:
recovery.img
then make sure it's on /system/recovery.img.
This will make sure that you have the custom recovery on every boot.
NB: The info is borrowed and modified a little.

SOS gingerbread!

I've just flashed the new gingerbread rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009177). I've found an option in the clockworkmod recovery that allows you to reboot in download mode. I did that and flashed with odin but now when the phone starts it says:
-- Copying media files...
Successfully copied media files.
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to 'system/csc/TMB/system/',
Successfully appliced Multi-CSC,
Then I have the following options:
reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
When I select any of these options nothing happens (I don't know if this matters but volume up is down and volume down is up). I've also tried to reboot the phone in download mode but it takes me to the android system recovery window. If I plug the phone to the laptop it takes me to the android system recovery window
I'm currently applying for several jobs and I NEED my phone to be operation ASAP. I would REALLY appreciate if someone could please assist?
Does the 3-button-combo work? if so go into Download mode and flash a full ROM like Darky's resurrection
After that you can try flashing JVK again or wait with experimenting until you have 1 or 2 days when you don't need your phone
or, if you have a full nandroid backup (I strongly recommend creating one regularly) just flashing any custom kernel and restore All.
Edit:
It seems like the first post has changed a bit after my post.
That is the problem. The download mode won't work. I press on volume up+volume down+on button and it still takes me to the android system recovery window.
I need to find a way to get into download mode so that I can flash the phone again.
If this happens to anyone use the three files from the first post which has bootloaders included, tick re-partition with .512 PIT and flast it again.

That's not the correct combination of keys. You should not press volume up+down.
Don't play with your phone if you need it, and don't install custom ROMs if you can't follow instructions buddy.
you should apply a proper kernel, froyo kernel doesnt work on gingerbread!!

hey, if you are stuck in an android logo, it means its the infinite boot-loop thing..
PLEASE make sure you are CORRECTLY trying to get into stock recovery or bootloader.
Here is what to do to get into recovery first:
1- turn off your phone (take the battery out and then put it back in)
2- press and OLD the volume DOWN button + power button
3- Motorola logo appears first, then after a few seconds an 'android ROBOT logo' appears
4- press volume UP and DOWN buttons at once, quickly
5- from the menu choose 'factory reset/wipe-format data'
6- then do 'wipe cache'
7- then do a reboot
see if it helps and you are able to start the phone normally
P.S. don't worry - a bootloop is a considerably easy thing to fix, at least i managed to fix mine yesterday.
good luck

Hi ! Are you sure you took the good rom for your defy ? Is it a regular defy or a + ? Because you need to have the good rom for the good defy version ( at least for gb rom). Then before installing the rom with the recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cahe (in advanced) and even data if you come from 2.x to 4.x. (same thing from 4.x to 2.x).
It would work

Thanks for this method even if I knew it. The first time I tried to flash a sbf it was awefull because nobody says it clearly. Wipe data, cache and dalvik in recovery doesn't work at all I experimented it again yesterday.
Please specify me the good GBROM!

Hi here the one I use : http://www.partage-facile.com/V96TH...nfryortcee_p016_a016_hwp3_service1ff.sbf.html
PS : It's in French but just go on "telechargement gratuit (VITESSE NORMALE)" and then on "télécharger ce fichier"
Follow the steps given by your_login and you should end with a froyo ROM. After it's as usual to install a custom ROM (root , 2nd init, wipes...)
Also when you are in bootloop remove the battery and restart the phone. When there is the blue led with the M logo press volume down and then go into recovery > stable recovery. I think it's better than your method
My phone is bricked after flashing!

[Q] Defy - no boot and no recovery after root

Hi, - I'm a noob in this.
I'm working on my Motorola Defy and my Ubuntu 13.04 machine.
I:
1) Rooted my device using these guides: "wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jordan"
and
.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/coolwinding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?
2) I got the CyanogenMod installed and it worked. I needed to install Gapps so I followed this guide
linux.com/learn/tutorials/698725-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-on-an-android-phone
3) When I tried rebooting my phone to install Gapps I couldn't boot into the recovery utility. I only had the possibilities: "reboot system now", "apply sdcard:update.zip", "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition".
I tried them all (I was really stuck!) but after the wipe data/factory reset I can't even boot in the Rom, so now I'm totally stuck with these four options as all there is!
In the bottom I get:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
- I see these are common but it is always resolved by booting the phone in the rom and I'm not able to do that.
I read that the Defy is not easily bricked, but what is there to do now? adb can't find the device from the SDcard only.
What2do?

*In my opinion you should start again from clean SBF if you don´t know how to flash it in LINUX Guide is HERE(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076138). Just make sure you are flashing the right SBF for your Phone.
*THEN root it as it is said here (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/...ding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?lang=en) *Alow USB debugging and unknown aplications and install 2ndinit apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212)
*THEN reboot and watch your phone, wait for the blue LED turns on and pres volume down.
*Select custom recovery and flash for example CM7 from HERE (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=jordan) and GAPPS (http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and reboot
*Now you have CM7 and working phone

It worked! Thank you very much. I'm SO tired now.
In order to install zips you have to reboot to clockworkmod recovery by pressing vol down when the defy boots up showing the blue led instead of entering the stock one
Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app

Problems after resetting.

So I wiped cache and so on now the thing is hanging at the Motorola screen and that's it.
I tried to get a sbf but all who should be compatible are down so that I pretty much am freaked.
Is there a way to get at least now a clean rom on it maybe something new 4.4.2 without SDCard or is that also a nogo?
----
So if your phone won'T boot and you just have a white light or nothing at all. You probably have less battery power to sbf flash something.
I used the Jumper cable method from Sorensiim.
That worked like a charm.
If you are looking for sbf files. Here are some.
----
So now I rooted that thing and tried to install bootmenu. Iused the adb method with ./install.sh permission denied after the copy procedure was complete ((data/bootmenu chmod etc.). I tried 2ndinit with the problem that the program hangs after the download. So what is it now that freakin thing wants me to do?
----
Got Bootmenu installed now the Defy has a Bootloop. For a short time before it loops the white led blinks. No volume up or volume down work.
----
Hanging at M logo on re-boot
Having rooted the phone . . .
1. Switch on and await blue LED
2. Press volume down to enter Android Boot Menu (v 1.1.8-jordan)
3. Recovery
4. Custom Recovery > Cyanogen Defy Recovery (v5.0.3.1-jordan)
5. Wipe Data / Factory Reset
6. Wipe Cache Partition
7. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
8. Install zip from SD card
9. Toggle signature verification to Disabled
10. Toggle script asserts to Disabled
11. Choose zip from SD card
12. Apply zip from SD card
13. Reboot
14. Hangs at M logo
Tried with and without step 10.
The zip files tried are the only two ‘nightlies’ on the XDA website, as I have been unable to find the last ‘stable’ version.
Can anyone help please?
