[Q] HTC magic 32A - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey When i try to downgrade My magic with the RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_2.17.631.2_release_signed_NoDriver.exe i keep gettin the 130 model id error. I have done everything there was written in the Unlockr guide. And my battery is fully charged.. I really want to downgrade so i can get the custom roms. Someone have any tips or something? Thanks in Advance

You don't need to downgrade to get root and subsequently start flashing custom ROM's. As a matter of fact, there's a guide on the first page of this forum that will tell you how.

All you need to install custom roms on your phone is:
1) ROOT with universalandroot
2) Install Custom Recovery
3) Optional (install ENG SPL)
4) Install Radio/SPL version required by the ROM you are about to install
5) Flash the ROM in recovery

[Q] Can we revert back to our stock rom after Rooting the Wildfire?

Hey Mates,
I am pretty new to android now.
I have few questions that would allow to decide whether to Root it or now.
So here goes my quests:
1) After rooting my Wildfire how can i unroot it. (On Stock ROM.)
2) If i install the Custom roms (its rooted) like Cyanogen MOD, how do i revert back to stock rom?
3) I need to install the Linux with the help of linux installer (available from the market) by taking reference from: http://android.galoula.com/en/LinuxInstall/
Does anybody have tried working it out?
4) Can the HTC Sense installed separately on custom roms?
5) After all my desires to mod the Wildfire have accomplished and when i need to sell the phone, would i be able to make my phone look as Stock, unroot and like virgin ? LOL
1. Flash the ruu of your stock rom, www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/
2. Flash the ruu of your stock rom, www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/ Or do a nandroid restore of your stock rom
3. I dunno
4. No
5. Yes
@Kevin
Isnt there something that may allow me to show my gesture for your fast response. Thanks a lot mate.
Will go one step further.
No worries
How can i confirm which RUU is for my handset. I belong to India.
I'm not sure not at my computer atm. Try the asia one or wwe (world wide english)
Is it available in the about me of the phone or some keystrokes that may lead to software management.
Well i got the Indian RUU.
I'm going to sell my Wildfire(getting galaxy s) so I'm not sure if I should install the latest RUU ( RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1 ) or older ones? BTW I live in Serbia

I think this is the newest rom and you can flash it since its much better to flash the Worldwide English rom. You can go ahead.

Via FASTBOOT menu.
But once you have used Custom ROMs you must have "Custom Recovery Bootloader".
And CustomRecovery will not accept RUU because of the "signing" concept.
Which means you will have get back the Stock Recovery before you can flash any of the RUU.
Am I right? OR have you done it some how? I would like to know.

[Q] S-off (by xtc), then what?

hi!
i found a shop in my area (slo) to unlock my phone. but i'm a bit confused. if i get my phone s-off-ed, as i understand this means full system root, which should men i should be somehow able to flash clockwork mod and then custom roms. this should be done by downgrading to 2.1 and hboot 0.8x.
i found a video tutorial on downgrading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981765
and my question: shouldn't i be able to flash clockworkmod directly (without downgrading), since i will have my phone fully unlocked? if possible, how?
I think the best is after the s-off, install and older RUU, then use unrevoked 3.14 thats the most easy and i think the safest way
Most efficient way

Hi
I have rooted wildfire with s-off (xtc clip) and Hboot - 1.01.0002 . I tried the above method but fastboot wont detect the zip file and says not found. I am unable to install clockworkmod using rom manager, whenever i do, i get the red traingle of death.
What to do now ?
Please help...
u donot need to downgrade with an RUU. and further doing so may make ur phone S-ON again (im not sure about this).
u have a simple process.
u can flash any "recovery image" via fastboot mode.
and that's all, after doing that u can flash any rooted custom rom from that recovery.
getting to S-OFF is an expensive task yaar (as far as now). try to keep it in S-OFF permanently.

have u done the "PC49IMG.zip" process with the file in the above link. it is the process for flashing clockwork mod "recovery image". once this is successful, then u can install any custom roms from the CWM recovery.
note: donot do the PC49IMG.ZIP process with any outside file (excluding the link above). if u do that, u might loose the S-OFF
Alternatively, u can flash other recoveries also (i dont know any others)
I got it eventually, I downgraded using ruu rom to hboot. 80 rooted it again and now have 2.3.3 over it
Thanks anyways ..

How will you lose s-off by flashing a PC49IMG.zip? XTC Clip wipes the secuflag in radio NVRAM, no way of getting it back via a normal update.

[Q] about going back and forth from official and custom roms

I have been using custom rom's for along time. It's easy once you update the recovery.
Now i need to install the official rom that came with 32A. My question is if i install RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Asia_India_3.05.720.3_release_signed_NoDriver.exe (this is a windows install), does it
There is no change in SPL 1.76.2007 or radio library(6.35.16.19)
1. change my recovery
2. will it change my engineering spl to perfect spl

I'm not sure if running the RUU will change your recovery, but it will change your SPL to a perfect one for sure. Why do you want to install an official ROM? It's for warranty purpose? I'm only asking this because if it's only for the ROM, you can find here at xda the official ROMs flashable via recovery.
Cheers

Official ROM 3.05.720.3 will change your phone to full stock state:
- hboot 1.76.0009 pvt s-on - perfected
- radio 6.35.08.29
- stock recovery
But you need goldcard to flash Indian rom if your phone has different cid than rom has (HTC__038)

Hi Unkjcr,
Can you tell me where i can find 3.05.720.3 India, which can be flashable via recovery. I don't mind keeping recovery. i don't want to again do the process of recovery & perfected spl. I need to put this for warranty purpose for some time. I only found this official .exe which runs from windows.
Help appreciated!

[Q] Help?

Ok so i recently just updated froyo to gingerbread beacause i was tired of it and i was perm rooted and now im not im version 2.3.4 and i have still have s-off anyone please help me get rooted without downgrading?!
how did you "upgrade"?
What's so damn urgent? The world will end (again...) if you won't be rooted?
And if it's so damn urgent - how about spending 5 min on Google-searching to discover the answer without even opening a thread? Hint - there's "root for s-off" thread, more than one.
To root you have to downgrade.... Did you use pd15.
This is NOT urgent. Damn people

No he doesn't - if he used gfree when rooted originally (and stayed S-OFF as a result), he can root at any given moment without any complications.

You need to learn to use Google. You got yourself into a situation you don't know how to get yourself out of because you decided not to do your research. Now you are refusing to research again. I will give you a link to a 5 minute adb/fastboot install, but you get to use Google to figure out how to use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370
Just one additional clarification:
fastboot won't help him, since he's on stock HBOOT that will refuse fastboot.
What he can do, is to look for "root for s-off" thread, that has the required PD15IMG and instructions to get ONLY the engineering HBOOT and custom recovery in place.
If he won't find it - means he doesn't need to be rooted in first place.
From the custom recovery he'll need to find and install Superuser/SuperSU ZIP. And it's described in the thread.

I hadn't been on the stock HBOOT in so long I had forgotten. Thanks, Jack. You're as helpful as ever.
Thank you estallings15 for all your hard work i was looking it up and then i decided to fastboot back to 2.2.1 and i did perma root on it and then when i downgraded i didnt lose s-off which is weird so im going to install this custom 2.3.4 rooted rom many thanks!
link to rooted rom if anybody wants http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264704

Plus i forgot im going to flash the rom through clockworkmod recovery
You must have gotten S-Off with gfree. A PD15IMG.zip flash won't turn the security flag on when you use gfree.
Also, Jack_R1 was very helpful as well. He simply wants people to do their research and know how to solve a problem before they run into it, as do I.
Hopefully, now you know what happened, why, and how to fix it in the future if you or another person get into the same situation or a similar one. Good luck, and enjoy your phone!
i did use gfree but i just updated through hboot im going to see if i have root now,

-Use the guide to achieve temp root, no need to downgrade android version or anything, just get temproot
-The above step should give you permaroot
-Get Rom Manager and flash clockwork
-There ya go

[Q] [MB526] Does not install Recovery bootloader

Hi, i have rooted my phone with success. Managed to change it to 2.2 and back to 2.3.5 but both Clockworkmod recovery and 2ndInit does not install as bootloader (pressing power on + vol down key).
I always get the original android bootloader.
Any clue on how to bypass it and install the bootloader so I can install CM10 ?
ty
I see you're n00b. So first I suggest you to read Defy begginers guide. 2nd - defy bootloader is locked, so you can't replace stock bootloader & recovery. So we bypassing it via 2ndinit & 2ndboot. 3rd - you can install custom rom via 2ndinit.apk.

Hello,
"turffe" is right. before doing all that i advice you to understand what you do.
read the All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide and the wiki
... and check if you are really rooted using Root Checker
if you are, you just have to install a custom recovery (with 2ndInit Recovery Installer if you want) and then the rom of your choice.

I belive i have managed to install if after a few hours. The 2.3 version of 2ndInit is not working, but the version 2.0 did work on my first attempt.
So, if someone is also experiencing problems trying to install bootloader, try a previous version
later
