Visionary+ Temp root works on this device (maybe) - myTouch 3G Slide General

To start, I have a MT4g and this worked great for me. Now I make no promises, but after having trouble rooting a friends mt3g slide(w/3.5 mm headphone jack), i just tried the app on the phone, and the temp root worked. tested with several rooted apps, and just set it for temp root on boot and seems to work very well. Just putting this out there, if you are having trouble rooting this phone, it seems to work. Try at your own risk.

Just install the original ESPRING file then use visionary for temp. Root and vuala root access just addin to it

If you look in the dev forums there is a quick no pc required root and it is really simple I rooted it while I was taking a test at school

Before rooting

What should I do before and after rooting my phone?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Before: make a backup of all your apps & data using Titanium Backup (find on the Market) just in case you end up needing to restore (unlikely if you follow all the rooting steps exactly).
After: download ROM Manager from the Market, install Clockwork recovery, boot into recovery via ROM Manager, and perform a backup in case you later install custom ROMs or mess with other root activities and need to restore to just after rooting. There are options as to use ROM Manager or other, do this I'd simply what I did.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info.will I lose any of my stock apps ext.after rooting?

I downloaded Titanium backup and opened the file to backup apps but it said that I have to have root access first.

Yes, the first advice to install titanium BEFORE you root was incorrect. You can't use titanium before you root. What should you do before you root? there is nothing you can do to insure that you won't screw anything up. There's no way to make backups of anything important before rooting. The only real changes you can make to your phone are AFTER you root. However, I kinda like the fact that we can use Visionary to temp root and accomplish some things like run "shoot Me" without making any permanent changes to our phones.
Titanium works fine with temp root from Visionary+. Temp root, make your backups, reboot and temp root is cleared like it never happened.
O.k. Where can I find the visionary temp root app.it's not in the market.i first want to try temp out first.

Sorry, I failed to mention to get Visionary FIRST and temp root, then use Titanium for the backup, then you can perm root if you wish.
Visionary was pulled from the Market, I believe while the fix some issue on the most current release. Google it and you can find the apk. Look for r12 since it's the one you'll need for perm rooting.

So I downloaded visionary + r13apk and it did not work properly. Then I got some advise from this gator dude and found a link to r11apk which I tried and it is flowing great. I have temp root now.

perm visionary root VS temp root

I got this question but was not sure how to answer it. I understand that TEMP ROOT only sticks until a battery pull or a complete power cycle, and PERM ROOM via visionary r12 is supposed to stick EVEN after a complete powerdown and reboot.
Question asked was if you PERM ROOT via visionary, and then remove apps via titanium backup, does it also PERM remove the app from nandlock? In other words if the perm root is REMOVED via visionary, and then you power cycle and reboot, will the DELETED apps come BACK?
Thanks.. I wanna make sure Im giving out CORRECT information.... I have only perm rooted a htc hero and when I removed APKS from it after rooting, they were gone FOREVER, but I am not sure about nandlock devices.. thanks
Hey all,
In addition to the first question,
if i temp-root my HTC Desire HD, and then do a powercycle.
would my free-but-not-really-free-applications still run?
But we are no longer nandlock?

If I understand correctly, no they won't come back if u r perm root

If you paid for your apps you would not have this concern...
If you temp root with visionary then uninstall the apps with titanium back up, they will return after the battery is removed. I tried it I was having trouble perma rooting and my apps that were removed came back after a battery pull. But after I got s-off the apps stay uninstalled.

Very Easily.... Just Install Z4Root, It Has Two Options, Run The Second Option For Permanent Root Access,
**NOTE**
Sometimes It's Fast, And Sometimes It Takes A While, Also
If Your First Attempt Fails, Pull Battery Out, And Retry The Permanent Root Option!! It Definitely Works, I Just Used It Myself On "12/23/10" To Root My Friends Cdma Hero!!
Good-Luck!!

What would you reccomend using to root a Droid Incredible?

Temp root problems

I've searched and can only find generalized answers that don't work. Attempting to temp root in order to per root, but neither temp root will take. Visionary reboots then disappears, and z4 does the same. Ive tried multiple times, and have reformatted my phone multiple times with the RUU. Any help? Please!
Uninstall superuser then reboot. Then try visionary again.

I used Z4Root about a week ago on a stock Evo, with the most recent software, at the bar and within 10 mins I had my friends Evo working as a hot spot. Now this is only a temporary root and doesn’t give you complete control of your phone. No recovery and other benefits of full root.
Now Z4oot is nice if all you want to do is tether, or maybe to use Titanium Backup. But it gets old quick and your time will be better spent using a permanent method of root. With all the great methods out their there isn’t a reason to use temporary root.
When I first rooted I used the temporary unrevoked method (pretty much the same as z4root). I have since moved on to full nand unlock I love the ability to take backups try some mod like a custom battery icon or a Rosie modification, or even a Rom with new sense (Warm Z Rocks!) and Know I can restore my phone back to a perfectly good working order.
I recommend using Unrevoked 3. Used that about 2 weeks ago to reroot my coworker’s evo after unrooting for warranty work.
