X10's ported to X8????? - XPERIA X8 General

Is there a way to get X10's Rom onto our X8? Maybe we might have some problems because of the processor speed but screen wise I don't think it would matter....... Any ideas?
Sent from my E15i using XDA App

The touch screen is different.different resolution.different processor and ram but we can run as some body over mini pro forum already working over similar project.but personally I don't want any more not working rom where developer is not working tyo fix the problem.

Look, is not recommended, devices are different.
You can always modify, but there's a lot of change you'll brick your phone.

This or the Desire Z?

Hey guys!I'm currently living in Singapore and will be getting a new phone soon.I'm thinking of getting a Milestone 2 because its physical QWERTY keypad and the processor is really tempting!Just some question,is the bootloader locked?Because if possible,I'm going to put a new ROM.Can ROM Manager be used on it?What are your opinions?Because I'm also thinking about the HTC Desire Z.So,please help!Thanks![/QUOTE]
Hi,
Tough question that depends on what you want to use the phone for. My 2 cents: the Droid2/MS2 has better hardware, especially sliding mechanism is much better. But you guessed right, the bootloader is locked, what means no custom ROMs with lots of changes. F.e. a custom 2.3 ROM will never be working on our devices...except someone hacks the eFuse. But I would not count on that.
Desire Z: bad sliding mechanism. And let us be honest: ugly design. Pro: open bootloader with many custom ROMs. Perfect choice if you want to tweak a lot.
I mean you can tweak with Droid2 but only minor things. F.e. the laggy interface coz of Motoblur can be exchanged with other Home replacement apps...
In the end, your choice
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
So would recommend it?Because I already feel that the Milestone 2 is fast enough for browsing and games! So maybe a custom ROM will not be needed.
I believe that the MS2 is still quite a good phone even with the locked bootloader. It has a fast processor (Which can be OC'ed), a good clear screen. As the above poster stated the keyboard slides very smooth, and its just all around a good phone. The bootloader is locked but there are still a good group of Devs that work on this phone which make some great ROM's despite the locked bootloader.
So all in all I would recommend the MS 2.
Most probably will try out a Motorola Milestone 2 first because its cheaper. If I'm not satisfied with it,will be selling it and getting a Desire Z!But I don mind a few more opinions!
Oh yeah, how much can I overclock the Milestone 2 to?Do I use setcpu or Milestone overclock?
I can OC my phone up to 1.45 ULV. That is the max OC but the amount on which you can OC it depends on how good your CPU is. Different phones can go to different speeds.
Use Milestone Overclock. Setcpu can only under clock our phones (Unless things have changed).
Alright,thanks!

wow, didnt expect HD to be faster than DHD! thanks for the input! btw, just out of interest, how do the screens compare between those three devices? im guessing SGS2 would have far better screen
Galaxy S2 is faster, but some programs may start faster on the HD2, and I know that's strange! and it happens randomly. probably related to background processes or something.
HD2 is also not always faster than DHD, it's just the huge amount of tweaking the HD2 ROMs get that they feel faster, but that performance is ROM-dependent.
If you get two tweaked ROMs, one on the HD2 and the other on DHD, and both from the same developer (Core team makes ROMs for both as far as I can remember), I bet the DHD will be faster.
Samsung screens IMHO are the best on the market, but having to deal with a none-sense droid phone with not much of custom ROMs is a pain.

I run NAND Android on my HD2 and have been running Android on mine for close to 9 months. Granted I run a non-sense ROM (Hyperdroid-CM7) as my daily driver. But I tested dozens of NAND Android ROMs for the HD2 and it run pretty much all ROMs very smoothly with the exception of the Sense 3.0 ROMs, It was laggy with those ROMs. The MIUI ROMs run pretty smooth on the HD2 but you do have an occasional lag here and there, but I stress the word occasional.
As for your original question the HD2 can hang with just about any native Android device on the market with the same or close to the same specs. Now keep in mind I am not talking about any of new devices sporting dual core processors with bigger RAM and mor memory.

The only real lag was when you would first open a app sometimes it would take somtimes the a second or two to open. It would also happen when you would be transitioning from one function to another, you know like when you opened the phone or camera. But it was always just a second or two delay/lag nothing that is intolerable. Or nothing most other native Android devices do from time to time. But the Sense 3.0 ROMs were borderline intolerable, at least for me.

Htc HD2: Best phone ever

A few days ago I was looking a some older threads some 2 year olds and they were thinking of how to port android on it. And now our HD2 has been able to run android 4 on it. I think it was my lucky day I bought this device. Its one of the best devices ever made.
I am able to play GTA3 flawlessly on it which todays high end devices do.
HTC should really bring out HTC HD3 . Successor to one of the best phone ever
True. I bought hd2 abt a year ago, and lost it. And I was about to buy a new phone, but wen I started thinking abt which phone to buy, I got so confused that I just bought a hd2 once again, no one can replace it.

Depends on ROM and configurations.
In the past the same models phone was the same for everyone, but today the same models are completely different, thanks to their strong software customization

It's a great phone for then and even now as an introduction but it's screen lacks colours and cpu/gpu are getting dated.
Mind you I still have 2 Hd2's and now exclusively use a Galaxy S which at 4"" is peeeeeeeeeeeeerfect for me especially with CM7 installed....one hand perfecto operation with swype....
Once you go amoled you see perfect blacks...
hTc seriously stuffed up with the models introduced after the HD2. There has not been one model that surpasses the legendary HD2 and that's saying a lot. Maybe next year hTc will get it right..maybe...

I tried loads of roms and configs to get GTA3 working and nothing worked, Just kept getting lags and closes.
If you deny its a lie what rom/config you using?
GTA is working fine on the rom i got... games get at least +10fps on HWA.
Yes GTA 3 works perfectly. Try tytung or Xylographs HWA ROMS . Gettinh 45+ fps in it . Plus the battery drain is also so good. Try those roms
And yes no customizations whatever its running fast without any lags with stock in those rom
And sorry I wrote that I played that game,
. No I seldom play games but it runs flwlessly in those rom I know that

Not entirely true. Even with full HWA, you need to decrease the game's distant of view, visual FX, this & that to get it working without lag. Out of the box, it is laggy.

Its not. I'm using a heavily tweaked ROM on my phone, (tested different types) these ROMs are greatly optimized by legendary devs. I'm using CM7/Sense etc etc, all have the same result.
I don't think this is possible for the HD2

Okay . Ill post a make a video soon. For this Ill have to flash another ROM . I have only one HD2. I ll post a video soon. Wait.
P.S The HD2 is running adreno 200 for which it is impossible to play GTA3. plus only 1ghz processor against DUAL-CORES. Ill post a video soon just let me get done with this ROM.
I think well have a master piece as soon as Dorimanx gets to ICS HWA. He did it with GB. Lets see what monster he will create now.

Arrogance and ignorance, have you tweaked kgsl ? have you tweaked pmem ? have you tweaked ashmem ? have you tweaked binder ? have you tweaked mm ? is the kernel using latest drivers from qualcomm/caf ?
Saga kernel is not even using 3.x kgsl, on leo which is using A MUCH older kernel, we have kgsl 3.8, so stop giving random excuses for the failure on your part.
Have you even tried playing GTA 3 on a hd2 with ics ? probably not (you don't even own one according to your sig).

Hello,
I sincerely apologize for my posts yesterday, they are rude and arrogant. I shouldn't even be in this forum.
I'm just puzzled to how GTA runs flawlessly on this phone? I have seen MANY videos on YouTube of GTA and from what I can tell, it doesn't look too impressive...
No, I never said I tweaked the ROM. I'm saying the ROMs I've used have been tweaked for performance by devs which might even have the tweaks you mentioned? We have devs like the Virtuous Team, MDJ, Capychimp etc.
Anyway, looking forward to the video.

There you go, was kinda hard controlling stuff with one finger and all the while doing it through the camera's viewfinder. Just installed the game and started a new story, So no game *tweaks* etc applied, graphics were the default settings from the game. The phone is not overclocked.
I am already working on kgsl-3d0 v3.9 so we should see another performance bump soon
Battery is awesome too, 25 hours and still at 56% battery with no airplane mode, data on throughout, Wifi for ~12 hours.

Arc S with ICS is so slow.

Hi guys.
My girlfriend has an Arc S for 4 months. Before that, I upgrade for her some cooked ICS but it's so slow, so I decided to change to ICS original Rom.
I did some modified with battery percentage and xloud & Beats Audio, nothing more. But I noticed the Rom is so slow. For example: it took 4-5sec to open Dialpad or contact. 3-4sec to open Camera app. I just install Go launcher/locker/sms. Though I would try another cooked Rom. Could you give me some ideas or I might downgrade to 2.3.4.
Lag is a problem with ICS.
That is a reason, why I still use Gingerbread(4.0.2.A.0.62).

Questions
Hi everyone!
I'm a little bit confused about my phone performance. Still trying all the possible rom for my lovely arc, but it still has lag. I HATE this LAG! Every time when I'm open the dial pad, open sms app, etc. I'm on ICS from alpha stage to 4.0.4. Try ALL the avaible ROM on my arc without any success. It still has lag. Today, I think to downgrade to Gingerbread because this poor performace. But I think this is the end. I have the best looking phone ever and want to downgrade to an older system?! It's a joke. Not enough 1.6ghz and 512Mb RAM?! Why not?!?!
Please anyone suggest me a solution...
(I know, sell my "old" single core phone... :/ )
PS.: If someone tell me a safest way to downgrade to GB I will hit thanks button...
Download the gb firmware, download flashtool 6.x version.
Open flashtool and follow the onscreen instructions. Fairly simple.
Search for my thread about how to downgrade, there's a link for the gb ftf file there.
Good luck

CPU has not much to do there about the performance, also graphics and RAM play role. Just overclocking won't give you that big boost.
I use Arc S and am totally happy with GB. I don't miss ICS, it doesn't have any specific features, that are so good, that I couldn't be without,
THx for everyone!
I'm on 2.3.7. and still with happy with happy with that. For me, the speed is instant, always!!!
unlock your boot loader
install arcknight kernel 3.5.1
install jelly ice bean rom 4.2n
you will have a beautiful smooth arc.
Just swtiched back to GB.
ICS good for Dualcore devices, not single core. For Arc & Arc S, GB is the best.
p/s: I don't really like Go Launcher & Go stuffs but it has a great customization.

Solution to a lagless device

I know I should have posted this in the q&a but maybe we could have a discussion on the matter.
So as we know, this phone is one of the lagless devices I've ever had and I've had quite a handful of phones recently so I wanted to know your opinions on what do you thunk may be the reason. I know HTC dedicated about a fourth of the ram to hardware and I think that helps a lot. Do you think it's that or just plain old optimization?
From the way I see it, I think it's a big help from the hardware ram but lots of credits due to optimization. What do you think, why do you think so, and what are your views on hardware marrying software?
It's down to both hardware and software optimization, looks like HTC's Sense 5 has been built from the ground up to work with the new processors and Android JellyBean. They've done a great job stripping down the unnecessary bloatware and complicated options. They have refined the software to a point that everything just snaps.
For the first time since Sense first got released, I actually prefer this to stock Android. Love Sense 5

I agreed. It's butter. Had a gs4 for almost 2 weeks can't never compare to the smoothness of the HTC one.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
did not notice any lag on InsertCoin 3.0
HTC have done a solid job on Sense 5 but I also think it's down to not including a bunch of useless software (like on the S4) and sticking with the tried and tested 4.1.2. I hope 4.2.2 and above are just as non lagging and stable. I can't believe how stable this device is.
Sent from my HTC_PN071 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It's not so much about this or that, but it's just that Samsung for whatever reason has not fully implemented Project Butter, the biggest feature for many for 4.1 The S3 didn't have as much bloatware as the S4, but when the One X and S3 got updated to JB, the difference was night and day on the One X, while it MOSTLY stayed the same on the S3.
true story, project butter fully implemented even on the One X JB
equally HTC is known to use higher speed internal storage mmc
and of course the whole Sense 5 light thing and being optimized specifically for the s600 (unlike the s4 exynos and s600 duality)
lets just say its a very clean job
regarding 4.2.2, it's even smoother after the OTA especially the app drawer
Dont know if anythings wrong or the reason that im using the power save mode all the time.......my phone lags a bit at times, any other conclusion anyone??

My last samsung was the sgs2, which could be perceived as laggy but in reality wasn't, some of the perceived lagginess was caused by design decisions (eg home botton lag, which was so multiclick combos can be done).
Try another (generic, not specically optimized launcher) launcher on a Galaxy phone and see it not lag at all....

Itd *could* be powersaver if your cpu limit is set. It will limit the cpu speed between 384-1134mhz when its on. 384-1727mhz when its off. Also, if you have alot of apps running in the background using *cpu* that *could* be it too....
