Hello Guys,
My name is John, I recently became the social media analyst at Samsung mobile. I wanted to start opening the lines of communication between XDA and Samsung. First I wanted to say I have noticed your work on our devices on the XDA forums. I think you guys do an outstanding job, I myself am a developer for mobile devices. So let’s get down to business, we’re going to be in Austin from March 10-15 for the SXSW(south by southwest http://sxsw.com/convention). I was wondering if any of you guys are going so that we could meet up and share a couple of ideas I have. I am looking forward to meeting some of you GREAT developers!
Thanks in advance,
John

Does Samsung has planned to implement the wonderful Supercurio's work (like Voodoo great sound improvements) and to work with him?
Edit : I've read your're also a developper, so yes, you should post in dev sections

First things first.. It would be nice if you guys made a roadmap for stuff under development for our phone. At the moment, we have no idea which bugs are getting fixed or when. And we have no idea what's being worked on. We don't need a accurate timeframe, simply an indication of what's being worked on
Even better, track the serial numbers/IMEI of the phones, and allow each owner to vote on where development should be targeted (such as what Dune HD does). You could even make an application on the Samsung store to let us vote directly on the phones (which might make it even better).
I wont be there in Austin (too far), but I think what I have mentioned is important, because Samsung tech support is unresponsive and horrible (when you send them a bug by email, you NEVER get a response). However, by at least implementing a voting feature, poor tech support suddenly becomes less relevant.
I have a simple suggestion. Samsung are really ontop when it comes to hardware but we haven't seen any advancement in battery technology. Perhaps, as well as focusing on samoled screens power saving prowess, we could address where we are on the battery side of things. So many features require a modern battery.

Let's not turn this thread into a laundry list of things we want from Samsung. That's not the point and it'll just spiral out of control.
I think that this is a big and important step from Samsung, which they should have done earlier, to be present instead of being silent all the time.
It's for sure that there is brilliant developers at XDA that has done some excellent work, imagine how much they could have done if there someone they could get answers from when the questions do present them self.
Is this a joke or somthing ?
Samsung usa. lol.

Hey John, first of all welcome here !
I this this is very interesting you come! Look, you're page 12 of the the Open Source strategy I shared with Samsung Korea
http://bit.ly/hNJ38m
Hehe I don't know if this is coincidence or consequence, but it sure demonstrate a lot of common interest, and is an excellent news for Samsung and XDA developers !
John and you guys what think of my document now made public?
PS: does your initiative comes from Korea or you didn't shared yet? I must tell you about a few people there
It's great to see Samsung getting involved here. I hope this is not just for PR purposes, Samsung and the customers would get huge benefits if you work together with the developers here.
For a start, I recommend you take a good look into the work that members Supercurio and Hardcore on this forum have done, and work on implementing them into your own firmware.
The difference the 3rd party firmware on the Galaxy S makes is huge. It's faster, the screen looks sharper and better, and the new sound drivers they have worked on are brilliant. The two members I mentioned seem to be the main ones contributing to this.
How about not fragmenting Android and talking to the devs about the best way to allow them access to all the firmware and drivers that are currently not open sourced? (NDA for select devs maybe?)
This would give you all the love you require form the Members here
Logicalstep
Hmm am i the only one who is a bit distrustful? I see no proof whatsoever , that john is im fact a samsung employee .. Or is it just me being paranoid after so many internet hoaxes.

He's a fake.

Have you at least read the thread I've quoted? There are other "proofs", like Captainkrtek (senior moderator) who's checked he's legit...
Anyway, it's your right to not believe it.

btw: i don't think it is real but would be great if it is real....
talk to supercurio, hardcore, cmsgsteam and you could push your phones over the top....
softwarewise out of the box the sgs is a disapointment...
Thank you!
I'm sure we all have seen Transformers right? Remember that scene in the movie where the Autobots are arriving to earth?(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kps_CkEEkUo) Quality kind of sucks. I compare that scene as Samsung arriving to XDA! I will not let you guys down. I will be back on Monday, in the mean time all top developers please pm. On Monday, I will post a new thread explaining further details. Also if your going to be in Austin for the convention let me know as well.
P.S. I have been reading all your postings in the threads.
Thanks
@SamsungJohn
Was thinking, would have been nice to have had a pre installed chat or social medium, where all adam owners would be connected with each other and notion ink reps. It was recommended we could set up a gtalk or some common active social gathering area.

Sounds like a good idea.
Why don't we use Yaaic IRC chat and have a Notion Ink chat room channel. Maybe ##notioninkchat.
I don't suggest we use ##adamroot for that, because that would interfere too much with actual development for Adam.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
#notionink_adam and ##notionink_adam already exist, I was thinking more like pre installed in adam roms. So that even notion ink could chat with the majority of connected adams, an adam network~
Something less intrusive, gtalk, yahoo, msn, common twitter/facebook page, some people are more used to. I'm guessing though since it's preordees target audience are tech blogs, it's users maybe a bit more saavy..

Interesting reading, to see that Notion Ink was really much more of a pioneer than most expect or give them credit for.
tegra names, wayne (bruce?), logan (wolverine?), stark (tony?)

Wish there were some tablets with all these features found on the Dev Kit.

Just wondering if anyone was attending Big Android BBQ! I'll be giving away devices at the different Code Kitchen challenges and would love to talk about Android, ASUS, and anything else! For those who can't attend, I'll be going live with a Periscope on Thursday, so please follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MyZenASUS
I'll be covering the BBQ, meet some developers and enthusiasts, and more! Also, I'm doing another giveaway! For the details, check out my post here: http://myzen.asus.com/2015/10/20/big-android-bbq-and-a-new-contest/
Sorry about only being only open to US and Canada! It's just that I'm from the North America team and that's my restriction. #sadface
I'm guessing you have to be at the event to win ........sigh but ill follow you on twitter
Actually, you DON'T have to be there! The contest I'm running is for attendees and non-attendees!

edit: but sadly malaysia is not included
Hello everyone,
I'm writing from the Provincial Council of Biscay. At the moment, we are working on an international mobile app contest called BiscayApp. Good thing about this contest is that it is open for developed mobile apps, but also for ideas for mobile apps (no need for them to be developed yet).
This contest has four categories: silver economy, data intelligence, energy, and advanced manufacturing. You can find the explanation for all the categories in our website.
Once you submit your app through a form that you can also find in our website, you would just have to wait for us to contact you by mid September, if we consider you are a finalist.
If you are indeed considered a finalist, you will need to come to the final gala in October (date yet unknown). But the trip to Spain (travel and accommodation) will be fully covered by us.
Plus, the prizes are great:
-€2.000 if you win your category.
-€10.000 if you win the contest as the "overall winning app", and support from the Provincial Council of Biscay for the implementation of your project in the Basque Country.
Be quick! The registration period ends the 30th of June.
I hope you all find this interesting. If you have any enquiries please do not hestitate to contact us. We will be happy to help.
Let us know your thoughts!
