The Begining, the rest is History - Adam General

Interesting reading, to see that Notion Ink was really much more of a pioneer than most expect or give them credit for.
tegra names, wayne (bruce?), logan (wolverine?), stark (tony?)

Wish there were some tablets with all these features found on the Dev Kit.

A Practical Guide To Android

I found this on the sidebar while reading an article on the TIME magazines website. It's good to see that more and more people are taking notice of Android. It's a pretty decent article for those that aren't too tech savvy too.
I like it. Thanks. Looks like they are really pro nexus one

Adam Ink in India

Hi there!!! I am from India and I feel that this product should also be launched in India (considering it IS conceived and developed here itself!)
I feel the fan base in India is quite large and could provide a lot of support to the XDA committee and Notion Ink themselves in development and improving the Notion Ink Adam.
Any pointers on how and when it will be distributed in India???
PS: Notion Ink, if you are reading this, please rest assured that the FANFARE with which the Adam will be perceived in India will exceed all your expectations.
Best of luck to Notion Ink. THis is indeed, a FABULOUS product!

+1!! i seriously feel that this should be launched here...if anyone from notion ink is reading this...can i juss come to ur office to pick one up ^_^
They have a tie-up with Croma - expect to see them there very soon. In the interim, you can wait for the preorder to come back up. Expect a dollar - rupee equivalence in the pricing.
^^Any source to back up your statement? I have never read about tie-ups of NI with any Indian companies!

need suggestions as far as books

im in 11th grade and want to read an interesting book to expand my mind. I normally don't read.EVER.. but since I have gotten my xoom I wanna give it a chance. I wanna read a good book. not some boring book I would usually read in school for example lord of the flies..boring. someone suggest a book I might like and enjoy. I tend to like horror, comedy, and adventure stories
What reader program are you using? Kindle, Nook, Google. Aldiko? Some access thousands of free books, most published before 1923 (a lot of great books, but maybe not what you're looking for) so if you go for new books through Nook and Kindle for example, you'll have to buy them. My daughter has been tearing through Ellen Hopkins books (Crank, Identical, Burn) but they seem a bit depressing to me, and maybe more appealing to girls (who seem to love drama, lol). If you like horror, you might like H. P. Lovecraft--available for free.
i was gonna use Google books. I've never really been into books that much because all the books we read in school are extremely boring. I wanna find a book that has mystery and suspense..something that will make me wanna actually read more of it instead of just putting the book down.
I am Legend by Richard Matheson is fantastic, and it's a fairly short book (and quite different from the movie in ways that make you care about the protagonist a million times more). That should be a good introduction. After that, it helps to know what interests you. Science fiction? Fantasy? It seems you probably want some form of fiction to begin with, anyway.
Definitely check out I am Legend.
Or perhaps Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman. It's a series of short stories and, in all likelihood, you'll enjoy his writing style and that will encourage you to check out his other books (I recommend Neverwhere).
Black Man by Richard Morgan is a thriller set in the near future that you may like. Quite a bit of mystery, if I recall and it's a good read.
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman is also excellent; another sci-fi book.

Some advice... when looking for books, I always try and read the first chapter to see if I take an instant liking to it. This helps a great deal in finding books that I want to finish. Usually, bookshops have seating areas for reading, but it's even easier with ebooks - as I understand, Google provide extracts or the first chapter before you buy. Try before you buy.
Horror: Dan Simmons - Summer of Night - fun and creepy
Horror: Dean Koontz - Watchers - fast moving & especially great if you love dogs
Sci-fi : Orson Scott Card - Enders Game - a classic
1984 is a pretty good book
My favorite book in the last decade has been ""A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson.
It's informative and funny.
Try it out, you'll be glad you did.
Also +1 for Ender's Game
If you have seen and enjoyed the movie Fight Club, check out Chuck Palahniuk's other books. They usually have you saying 'WTF' until the very end.
If you like the twilight movies try the twilight series. Or the Harry Potter series as I'm sure many people can tell you the books normally are better then the movies.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
Well, my 2 cents.
I think nobody should die without having read To Kill a Mockingbird from Harper Lee. It's one of the best books I have ever read, although being somehow old (60's or something).
I have read tons of books, and have loved almost all of them. I don't know. Some come fast to my mind: 1984, Christine (I love this one, as I do love cars), Jurassic Park, etc.
I enjoy books from Dean R Koontz (Horror), Michael Crichton (all kind), Robin Cook (medical related), Ken Follet, Stephen King, etc.
I really hope you find something interesting to read.
Regards.

Moneyball by Michael Lewis is definitely my recommendation!
It starts from baseball but larger than baseball.
I got a quick review and link is here.

Everyone so far has had great suggestions. Any of those books would be a great start. Another sci-fi book I've enjoyed (and is much better than the movie) is Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Mistakes Developers Make When Promoting Their Apps/Games

This is open discussion, please post your thoughts. Also I will be calling games "apps" too, for simplicity. I have released a game and I am now doing a couple of reviews now and then. This is all my experience. You can agree or dissagree and add your own experience.
This is the list so far
Make an app first and then seek to promote it
Promoting an app with bugs
Asking everyone for Google Play store rate&review without helping others first
Sending review requests without having proper materials for the reviewers and/or not replying to the reviewer
And my notes
This was my biggest mistake. I learned it the hard way and I can see many people do the same. You make an awesome game and nobody ever heard about it before. You need to have people already following your progress. Remember, everything you do is newsworthy to someone! If not, then your game is doomed anyway.
I got few games to review that I couldn't run on 2/3 of my devices. After some time I see the game in google play store with 20 ratings and 2 stars...
In indie "Pay It Forward" works. And it would work much better if everybody did it. The most popular truly indie game I reviewed on my site was from a guy who created an awesome series of tutorials and helped everyone else first. He gots tons of downloads immediately...
My personal favourite. It makes my queue of games to review much shorter. Seriously, people - promoting something is a hard work. Deal with it. And if someone can get you more downloads, it's a good reason to at least try.
Guilty x4
We have a flow chart stuck on the wall showing the app business development cycle.
* Application Planning: concept design, feature design, APIs available, prototyping, audience targeting, platform selection, form factor selection
* Develop and Debug: Platform IDE, SDKs, APIs,
* Market Readiness: developer reg, certification, beta testing, localisation, packaging
* Distribution and Monitization: App publishing, billing, virtual goods, in app advertising
* Retailing and Discovery; Curation, in-app pricing, advertising, promos, PR, Merchandising
* In-Life: Analytics, ratings, user support and updates
Lots of developers spent 90% of there time doing just the development. I think the reality of your success (or your business) needs to spend ALOT more time doing the other processes. Remember when we used to work for large companies that had an actual marketing department? :highfive:

[Q] Marketing tips for 2014 (for small indie teams with tiny budgets)

Hi! I've recently been to Pocket Gamer Connects conference in London and asked around about (a marketing failure of) my indie game. I got some great insight and advice that I'd like to share with you. Hopefully it helps someone.
http://indeed.adamiak.net/promoting-indie-games-marketing-tips-for-2014/
TL;DR: Don't mimic what big publishers and studios do or you will loose. There are advantages being an indie - use them. Watch Marketing sucks.
What do you think? What would you add to that?
