tried with wifi on / off
changed my phone's & computer's locale to USA

hosts file permisions set to write
hosts file delevopers ip adresses deleted
windows phone 7 developers tool installed
zune installed and signed in [YES!!! *found this yesterday i changed my computers region and locale to USA and the sign in button appeard inside Zune Software, so in case you are wondering where the hell do i sign in on zune software that should do the trick]
run chevron with admin privileges, compatibility mode on and off
tried with WPconnect
i flushed my dns using ipconfig /flushdns in cmd promt
i don't use skype but i checked just to be sure the port is free, yea it is
turned firewall, ms security essentials real time protection off
reboot the phone and pc a billion times
did phone softreset
did phone hard reset
reflashed windows phone 7
deleted zune software,
deleted windows phone SDK,
deleted active sync,
deleted usb drivers,
deleted temporary files,
did registry sweep
reinstalled Everything
did the whole proccess again and again and nothing, apart from enabling the sign in button in zune software i couldnt come up with anything at all to progress my wp7 hd2 unlock with chevron.
I have windows 7 ultimate x64, all updates installed, in good condition no ****ware and stuff.
Wait, one thing i didn't, FORMAT teh damn thing!!! Yeah right, in your dreams dude

After following the normal guides, this is what I have completed so far using Windows XP SP3:
1) Install Zune
2) Install the certificate file on the phone + regedit the PC
3) Connect the phone to the PC
4) Zune finds the phone and is able to connect
5) Chevron opens, I tick the two boxes, but then errors with 'I am unable to communicate...'
To resolve I have tried:
Ensuring hosts file is not read-only
Delete any entries for windowsphone in hosts file
Put phone into airplane mode
Run chevron as administrator
Disable all A/V and F/W
Disable all network adapters / wireless etc
Can anyone suggest anything else to resolve?
You DEFINATELY need to install Windows phone 7 SDK- i had the same issue, i could resolve it by installing the SDK.
But that can only be installed on windows vista/7 right? Not on XP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914596
excellent, thankyou kind sir. Will give it a go. Apols for not searching hard enough!
ah,
That didn't work. YOu need the developer tools installed before you can install this and that needs windows vista/7 anyway.
RIght, have finally managed to install everything. Still no working
64bit WIN 7
Is the chevron7.exe working on 64bit WIN7 or only on 32bit version?
I give up..
Have installed Zune and developer tools, spent all day on this and I'm no futher. Chevron does not work.
For me too.. Chevron doesn't work.
I have the same problem. I got it unlocked, locked it again and now i can't unlock it anymore

Hi,
Make sure you don't forget this one:
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. etc)
windows phone sdk is the Microsoft Visual Studio Express for Windows Phone?
I finally managed to unlock!
This probably won't help the people who can't re-unlock, but the final issue at my end was that I was using a web proxy. The Zune service uses the domain defaults for proxy settings (which, for me, is set to automatic discovery). I noticed with Process Monitor that most http requests from Zune went through the Privoxy proxy on my server. (Which of course, does not know about how ChevronWP7 redirects developerservice.microsoftphone.com to the fake local service.)
After disabling the proxy and rebooting (to make sure the Zune *service* (not the app) picks up the change), ChevronWP7 worked as advertised. Note, however, that I needed to click "Unlock" twice - the first time I got the usual connection error.
I hope this helps someone!
I think that I´m going to have to give up on WP7. At least untill they come out with a better chevron. I´ve been working on this since WP7 first was announce on DFT´s website.

I´ve tried a thousand times.
I had the same problem. I closed all applications that used up the internet, including my web explorer. Then tried again and it worked fine.
I gave up.. however I then used another Windows Vista PC (instead of my windows XP SP3) and all worked fine.
For all of you trying to instal WP7 and getting stuck at the dreaded chevron unlocker "Uh-OH" that will not let you pass, look no further. There are a lots of ifs and buts but no definite answer to it. Below method worked 100%.
I tried it multiple times. I in no way encourage you to use WP7 and unlocking procedures but heres simply what you do if you want to do
Instal Zune
Connect WP7-HD2
Click on the sync relationship below the picture of your LEO70
key in any name...i used HD7
Once connected, create a zune id...You can use your windows live id though
Goto settings ---date and time and uncheck automatic date VERY IMPORTANT
sync your phone...Check if port 443 is free that means no SKYPE or anything. Instal registry key in windows
Put chevron installer on root of C
Stop any antivirus & anti spyware IMPORTANT
Run chevron with administrative controls
Make sure before running chevron that Wp7 is Screen on and not keypad locked. Make sure the white screen on zune is there clearly showing your phone model and name that you made.
I do NOT have the developers kit or tools installed.
I am on windows 7 64 bit
So this kills all speculations.
Hope you guys can get it to work.
I needed to disable my web proxy (Privoxy, in my case) for ChevronWP7 to work.
Note that you may need to reboot for proxy changes to be picked up by the Zune *service* (not the app).
also i had to close the SKYPE, however it sounds
can u make a video ?
i was traying last 2 day to sync my hd2 (w7) to my pc (windows 7) with zune software but nothing works
I have got WinXP SP3 and it's not working on that ever after using your method.
DID you disable the auto time settings?
did you add the registry key?
Mind restarting the phone and the PC?

Ok..some noob questions because every day i see new things here and to much info just confuse me... This guide will help me unlock (jailbreak) my phone without Activation from Microsoft?????
Or do i need to follow these instructions first following by the MS Activation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912218
Also...My only care is to sync Music and images on my WP7 HD2.. I don't need games and such! What do i need to do?? I am downloading zune right now...After that?????
There doesn't seem to be a cure-all for this issue.
I was able to get mine successfully unlocked yesterday almost by chance.
I had to keep going into Command Prompt (administrator mode), keying in c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc, and then executing "notepad hosts" and deleting the host file that the phone kept creating everytime I ran Chevron.
I also had my phone in airplane mode.
Today, I decided to blow up the phone with Task29 and reflash WP7 to see if it helped my battery performance. Much to my chagrin, I was unable to duplicate whatever worked for me yesterday.
I'm back on Android until this is fixed with a known, proven solution for multiple users.
i just install the windows phone drivres and it woks , i just unlock my hd2 but the market dosent work on the phone

Do all of that and you should have a working phone that is unlocked.
1. Install WP7 sdk Windows Phone Developer Tools; done
2. Install zune;done
3. Make partneship with zune and phone;done
4. Attach the ChevronWP7.cer(you found in the toolkit) to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC);done
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;done
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;done
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly)done
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. Dropbox.. etc)done
still locked
Are you doing a full hard reset and then reinstalling the certificate? It should work after the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt values get returned to the default.
yes I have done by pushing + and - volume button
solution
the default year in WP7 is 2010 it took me a while to realize i was forcing the phone due to the date.
small thing easy to overlook hope it helps
edit: with the correct date phone should unlock

On #5 did you use touchXplorer to copy that file to Windows directory?
Remember Zune will lock you HD2 everytime you connect your usb. use the crack in this forum to prevent that.
are you using windows XP?
Also try putting chevronwp7.exe in the root of your c: drive and run as administrator. I've seen people say that it isn't necessary, but I had to.
Also if you're using vista or windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled.
besides turning off the firewall, i turned off the windows defender service.
It might do the trick.
Solved
Thanks to everybody
My problem is solved.
Like audit angel was saying the default year is 2010, and the solution was there for me.
When I changed the year to 2011 Chevronwp7 did his job.
What an idiot I was!!!
hey,
i gave my HD2 a really hot update with WP7...
everything works fine. All Zune updates instead of one " ISV Mango clean up " ...
But since yesterday my zune cannot connect to my phone.
The error message is " Connection problems " !!!
I delete the certificates from zune... disconnect, reconnect, restart, delete the phone from zune. reinstalled zune... Delete HD7 phone from Windows-Devices
Installed a completly new zune on a different machine. The same problem!!!
tried microsoft fixit... Nothing works :/
has anybody the same problem or an idea ???
By the way... The WP7 is loading on USB...and the OS ( Win7 ) is finding it... Only zune cant connect ... :/

Yeah my problems are similar to that, for a while i couldn't get a connection so i started from scratch and now i have the mango clean up bundle. heres the kick, all works fine except web services and Bing. But when its connected to the computer my internet and all things using web services works fine. Oh and with Zune being updated what I did was update from a laptop to desktop until i got mango working right(Thanks Starbucks WiFi So maybe when you deleted zune certificates there were some lingering.
hey scortareo,
sorry but
what did you mean with, you started scratch ???
I mean I went all the way back down to Windows 6.5, had the sd card issues solved that by reflashing xmod v1 and the original leo70, messed around and took the sim card out and had that lock on me.so from scratch i mean like it was my first time ever flashing my HD2. Still cant figure out why im only able to use web services while the phone is connected to the computer.

This is reverse tethering, your phone is using your computer's data connection.
have you tried
1. switching wifi on in settings(sorry)
2. switching data on in settings/ mobile network
3. install DEV_WIFI_PLUS_EU.cab or
DEV_WIFI_PLUS_US.cab
(best wifi & bluetooth fix)
EU & US are related to your wifi router settings(channel, ect) not the Country where you live
Hope this helps
Hard Reset solved the problem with connections problems to zune.....
Did all of that and nothing works aside from being connected to the computer, plus I have the Walmart Family Mobile network so when ever i try to run connection setup it say's network carrier doesn't exist in database......i wonder if using the activation code from the first time I tried WP7 has a affect also, like for mango I would need to get a different one. SMH!
Ive searched and searched. I know there are a million threads too.
I had my mango 7720.68 unlocked with chevron before but relocked it because i thought it was causing boot freeze.
Now it won't unlock, i've tried everything.
Cleared developer services in c:/windows/system32/drivers/host
Turn off firewall/anti-virus
Why would it previously work? Now its just
Uh-oh
Sorry im having trouble communicating with your phone
-please make sure its connected using USB
-please start the zune application
Please some feedback!! Thanks
becoz n mando the old chevron willll nt wrk i guss bt chevron opned a fficial site and for unlock costs $9
because MS cant fight anymore against it and decide to make money with it

how to
since it took some time for me to find out how to side load apps in WP7.5, I'll explain it to other noobs:
You need to install Zune, the .NET 4.0 Framework and Windows Phone SDK 7.1. Then install Phone7Market (you can find it here). It comes with the Phone7Market itself, from which you can download your .xap files and with the Phone7Deployer. Connect your HD2 via Zune, create a desktop shortcut for the Phone7Deployer, get your xap file you want to deploy (i.e. from the Phone7Market) and drag&drop it on your desktop shortcut. It won't harm to check the two boxes (remove drm and the other one). A few seconds later, you should find your app/game on your device.
btw, this is FREE, so you don't need to pay 9 bucks for chevron.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't help you with that since I don't have this error. The only two things that come to my mind: You need Windows Vista or 7 for the SDK and you should try a hard reset on your device (backup your data before of course).
