For all of you trying to instal WP7 and getting stuck at the dreaded chevron unlocker "Uh-OH" that will not let you pass, look no further. There are a lots of ifs and buts but no definite answer to it. Below method worked 100%.
I tried it multiple times. I in no way encourage you to use WP7 and unlocking procedures but heres simply what you do if you want to do
Instal Zune
Connect WP7-HD2
Click on the sync relationship below the picture of your LEO70
key in any name...i used HD7
Once connected, create a zune id...You can use your windows live id though
Goto settings ---date and time and uncheck automatic date VERY IMPORTANT
sync your phone...Check if port 443 is free that means no SKYPE or anything. Instal registry key in windows
Put chevron installer on root of C
Stop any antivirus & anti spyware IMPORTANT
Run chevron with administrative controls
Make sure before running chevron that Wp7 is Screen on and not keypad locked. Make sure the white screen on zune is there clearly showing your phone model and name that you made.
I do NOT have the developers kit or tools installed.
I am on windows 7 64 bit
So this kills all speculations.
Hope you guys can get it to work.
I needed to disable my web proxy (Privoxy, in my case) for ChevronWP7 to work.
Note that you may need to reboot for proxy changes to be picked up by the Zune *service* (not the app).

Mind restarting the phone and the PC?

Do you see your phone in the Zune window or is it a shadow?
Uninstal zune....restart....instal zune...restart.
plug phone into a dufferent USB

I'm on XP to and i can't make chevron running. what do you mean about registry key? I have to add it on my computer?
Ok..some noob questions because every day i see new things here and to much info just confuse me... This guide will help me unlock (jailbreak) my phone without Activation from Microsoft?????

There doesn't seem to be a cure-all for this issue.
I was able to get mine successfully unlocked yesterday almost by chance.
I had to keep going into Command Prompt (administrator mode), keying in c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc, and then executing "notepad hosts" and deleting the host file that the phone kept creating everytime I ran Chevron.
I also had my phone in airplane mode.
Today, I decided to blow up the phone with Task29 and reflash WP7 to see if it helped my battery performance. Much to my chagrin, I was unable to duplicate whatever worked for me yesterday.
I'm back on Android until this is fixed with a known, proven solution for multiple users.

I accidentally relocked the device but It wont unlock againn???? What kind of justification is that. Now I cant go back to unlcoked mode now.!!! Please help. Tried all of the above.

how did you install the windows phone drivers because when I plug my phone on my computer ( windows Vista 32bit) it just say it just say installing that's it. Also i can't see the phone in Zune no matter what USB port i use or computer. Help would be greatly appreciated.
So to get this straight...to sync my images,music (ONLY!!!) I have to Activate my Phone with Microsoft??

Nothing I did would get it working with WinXP, I finally gave up and installed Win7 on a spare drive and it worked on the second or third go.

AS ABOVE
i've followed the steps , dont say im a leecher cause i read through all.
host file checked - no window developer services
regedit.exe - edited the registry
installed zune
installed microsoft sdk
activation code - gotten
network adapters were disabled when trying the steps below
so how i go about doing this and it doesnt work
1 : connect phone and install cert
2 : start WPConnect.exe to establish a connection
3 : Start zune
4 : place unlocker at C:\
5: error messages pops out .
tried on my laptop and desktop all same problem.
PS , ive been doing all this for two days , researching every night till3am while i have school next day. i have no idea what i still need to do.
Try to restart the computer, maybe some IM software took the port 443

Why are you quoting yourself??
Also people have tried to help you, Yu are obviously doing something wrong or there is something on your pc that is blocking your connection, try and read some guides and disable anything that could potentially be blocking it.

OK start up your mobile. Is the date and time correct (Very important) if all ok then start zune. open up the chevron on c/drive and see if it will connect with ot the Ohno message.
You may have to do this a few times. try the other computer as well.
Some guy's can get the chevron to work, by puting the date a few months forward NOT back.
If you do manage to get the chevron unlocked, then dont lock it.
Make sure to swith off spyware detectors, and put your antivirus into stand by mode until you complete this tasks.

Are you running Windows 7, have you installed the SDK, have you installed Zune and have you followed this guide to the letter?

Do all of that and you should have a working phone that is unlocked.
1. Install WP7 sdk Windows Phone Developer Tools; done
2. Install zune;done
3. Make partneship with zune and phone;done
4. Attach the ChevronWP7.cer(you found in the toolkit) to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC);done
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;done
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;done
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly)done
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. Dropbox.. etc)done

Are you doing a full hard reset and then reinstalling the certificate? It should work after the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt values get returned to the default.
yes I have done by pushing + and - volume button

the default year in WP7 is 2010 it took me a while to realize i was forcing the phone due to the date.
small thing easy to overlook hope it helps
edit: with the correct date phone should unlock

On #5 did you use touchXplorer to copy that file to Windows directory?
Remember Zune will lock you HD2 everytime you connect your usb. use the crack in this forum to prevent that.
are you using windows XP?
Also try putting chevronwp7.exe in the root of your c: drive and run as administrator. I've seen people say that it isn't necessary, but I had to.
Also if you're using vista or windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled.
besides turning off the firewall, i turned off the windows defender service.
It might do the trick.

My problem is solved.
Like audit angel was saying the default year is 2010, and the solution was there for me.
When I changed the year to 2011 Chevronwp7 did his job.

I am gonna use HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native rom but before it could anyone can tell me if this rom can install the soft after it is flashed?I mean if I want to install any soft should I do any other step?And can this rom charging when the sreen is off?
They say you should be able to sideloade XAP files with TOM's XAP explorer.
You should be able to get marked working to, so can't see why you shouldn't be able to install your software.
Yes the phone charges when the screen is of.

Sync Issues
Im using the HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native, after I connect my HD2 to my computer Zune will only sync it as Guest, Ive tried re-syncing but it wont change sync relations. Any helpful tips?

Have you tried in Zune settings/phone/sync options and look under device options, there should be a third option.
Ive searched and searched. I know there are a million threads too.
I had my mango 7720.68 unlocked with chevron before but relocked it because i thought it was causing boot freeze.
Now it won't unlock, i've tried everything.
Cleared developer services in c:/windows/system32/drivers/host
Turn off firewall/anti-virus
Why would it previously work? Now its just

custom ROM is already unlocked (BTTF and HD2O) but people not read instructions... chevron is useless for this ROM's

since it took some time for me to find out how to side load apps in WP7.5, I'll explain it to other noobs:
You need to install Zune, the .NET 4.0 Framework and Windows Phone SDK 7.1. Then install Phone7Market (you can find it here). It comes with the Phone7Market itself, from which you can download your .xap files and with the Phone7Deployer. Connect your HD2 via Zune, create a desktop shortcut for the Phone7Deployer, get your xap file you want to deploy (i.e. from the Phone7Market) and drag&drop it on your desktop shortcut. It won't harm to check the two boxes (remove drm and the other one). A few seconds later, you should find your app/game on your device.
btw, this is FREE, so you don't need to pay 9 bucks for chevron.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't help you with that since I don't have this error. The only two things that come to my mind: You need Windows Vista or 7 for the SDK and you should try a hard reset on your device (backup your data before of course).

Same error here.
My phone is unlocked, but I am unable to install applications on my device, I'm running HD2O latest rom v1.26 fully unlocked?
Though I am connected to Zune and the phone is syncing, but the TOM XAP installer says:
'Please make sure your phone was unlocked'
'Please make sure you connected device to PC and Zune launched.'
Anyone with solution?

Yeah, I know, my screen is unlocked, the ROM is fully unlocked too, but I keeps getting this error and cannot send XAP files, I was using WP7 for may be 6 months and this is the first time that I have a problem.....

Doesn't work, it says Device not found, but my phone is connected and synced in Zune......... this is really bad situation
