hiii ..the registries were like h_key/localmachine/init/bootvars/masterkeyfiledictorie it was /windows by default..i used my extrom that is /storagecard/windows/ well its booting the folder but due 2 lack of some file getting switched .off....kkk..lets see im not gonna give up ...ORTHER PLEASE DONNOT TRY THIS ITS VERY RISKY UR CELL MIGHT GO DEAD SO PLEASE..well hopes so this work still waiting of our members to a conclusion....

i'm just guessing here coz i don't have that much of in-depth know-how about it but...err...even if your system theoretically worked, wouldn't that reg key only be present and accessible when there is a proper booting Windows based OS on the device first...
as far as i am aware of (and that awareness is very limited in scope at this point in time) Windows is the only OS using the sorta reg keys we use (do correct me if i'm wrong)
and assuming that even if we do get it to boot from an external location, for instance a mem card, wouldn't that still mean that we would require a Windows base on the device memory first...
isn't that kinda redundant??
and suppose we keep an absolutely clean ROM on the device and have a loaded ROM in an external location and then boot off of it...our GENE's processor and RAM are still not powerful enough to deal with the added load on it...
now don't get me wrong...i'm not trying to put you down...i would even help in any way if possible but i just don't what it is you're trying to do because i fail to see how this would alleviate the problem of flashing in any manner...
may i also suggest you post you idea up in the WinMo Development thread so that you can catch the attention of other advanced users who could help you out or shed some light on the use of the reg key...

u haven't put me down ..wat u said was n is absoulately correct .thankin u from bottom of the heart for giving such an precious knowledge 2 us.n pls help me with sum more ideas in future regarding this thread pls pls ........thankinn u n hve a greatday....;-)

just because you hit a stumbling block here doesn't mean you have to pass up on it...
try posting stuff that you find out that hasn't been tried/used well before on the WinMo Q & A or Dev thread...you never know what sorta breakthrough you might make...people here are incredibly helpful but the only way they (we?) can help you is if you are gonna share information that you have...

POSTING THREAD UNCESSARLY MAY PROVE DANGEROUS BECAUSE WE GUYS FLOOD THE SERVERS N THE ADMINISTRATION MAY GET UPSET SO PREFER REPLIES INSPITE OF REPLING WITH NEW THREAD ....BECAUSE I'VE SEEN MANY GUYS DOING THIS.....have a nice day

guys guys my solution is working ...u wanna know does ur memory card has the folder WINDOWS on the root..
.well if not don't worry ..
1-if u are having .net framework 3.5 cab install it on the storage card ..after tht u will windows folder on ur sd root "ROOT-the folders which r welcomed or opened when u open or execute storage card through explorer..
NoW things tht u need to boot rom on storage card r
1- resco explorer latest version install it ..n if u r havin it check whiether it not an expired version ...
2- run the resco explorer ..one good thing is tht resco has an regedit s\w in it which we will require after wards ..
3-configure resco explorer ..n then in menu\option\ general\ browser uncheck all options n press ok button...
4-go on windows folder not the one on storage card outside it ...the windows folder where all the rom files are present ...and select all files on in the windows folder..
5- after tht a long tab on it thn select property..uncheck all except ROM option cause it not possilble to do so ...after tht press ok...
6-now start copying file from windows to \storage card\windows ....it take a very long time and do make sure tht u have 120 mb on storage card ...
7- while copying u will hve to keep pressing "yes" button all the time whenever required ...because copying denied by sum file but thts okay ...n don't lose u patient while doing so ...action stopped due to sum reson u may continue by same proccedure but "skip all "file already copied.....after finishing ....go to resco registry...
8-in resco registry open HkEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVars and modify the string value of MasterKeyFileDir from
\windows to \storage card\windows
pls don't mistake it with backslash"/" it ALWAYS "\" in registry ...now what
9-its finished n u all done but plz check all file copied I know sum file couldnot be copied but don't worry thoose file are .dll files mainly containing registry and work according with HKEY's ...
now do a softreset let it boot n after booting let it settle down for few minutes for the 1st 15min it goes slow but after ward goesssss very smoth....
note:-THIS CONDITION GOES TRUE IF U R HAVING GENE THAT IS HTC P3400 OR HTC P3400i BECAUSE ITS TESTED WITH GENE OTHER PLEASE DON'T NOT TRY IF U TRY AND CAUSE ANY DAMAGE TO UR OS OR ANY OTHER RELATED THING ...I AND XDA ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT"
10- BEFORE I EXIT ONE MORE THING THIS ARE TEMPORARY CHANGES WHICH MAY BE CHANGED AFTER U HARD RESET UR MOBILE N U CAN FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION IF U HAD N HARD RESET UN WILLINGLY.......
have a nice day n sry abt my english ....pls give a feed back .....

regarding your first post ->
before i begin i'd like to make to assumption, one for me and one on your part...
assumption 1: your project aims at getting a ROM to boot up from the memory card instead of the very limited phone memory
assumption 2: you believe booting off the memcard will improve on the performance and speed
now let me get to the point-
if you dump a stock ROM or even a cooked ROM what you will get is a huge number of files and modules...alongwith a .rgu and .reg files...tons of them...
now simply copying them over to the mem card won't make it work...
the .reg and .rgu files which contain all the registry entries for the software need to be added into the system registry (which is ironically located in the phone memory) for the program to function as most of them maintain settings and records and certificates on the registry and access and refer to them while running
now this work or adding the registry entries is usually done by the kitchen for us cooks...
it can be done by hand as well but the sheer amount of time and patience required for it to be done this way is way to overwhelming....
and it can only be entered by hand if there already is an operating system functioning on the device
so for now...i'm leaving that out as an option...because basically no reg entries mean no OS
our gene are able to read mem card higher than 4 Gb because the SDHC drivers required for this to be possible are cooked in with our devices...
SDHC cards do not work with stock 5.0 and 6.0 WM ROMs because they can't recognize/handle them...
now about your second post ->
what you've done is copied your system files onto your mem card and made your system boot into it...
the only way to know if it is genuinely booting up with the file in mem card and NOT with the ones in the phone memory \Windows folder is by deleting the files from phone memory...
and even then, you'll still be accessing the registry from phone memory to get the files from the mem card to function probably
now a request to you...
i want to know what exactly it is that you are trying to do...
you mentioned you wanted to get a ROM working this way to ease the burden of flashing...but this wouldn't help at all as it would still require a running OS on the phone and also need corresponding reg entries for a different ROM loaded on the mem card if you were to boot into one from there...
its just that i'm losing point to what you are aiming to do...
if i understood it better i could even help a bit myself...i've been cooking ROMs for a fairly long time so i could even provide ROMs dumps if needed...
so if you could, just write down a few lines about what you want to achieve via this...

Brother wat u said is correct...e1 im tryin to reduce the flashing accident without excepting any reward ...I've been a victim of flashing.losing my gene dead so.
frist I was scared after completeing the procedure tht my mobile might get stuck on bootloader mode but fortunately it started ...after looking at the registry sawed tht while booting it take help of the files present in documents n setting folder rest everything from windows which now is \storage card\ windows getting RAM free near 50% ...but the problem is tht flash a rom files go in windows folder im looking to change tht scenerio over here ....belive me the speed is improved a bit while multi-taskIng ..so I can say i ve 5% success...pls post sum ideas or question u may get....'''IDEA GIVES BRITH TO INVENTIONS''' tc

have a look at the ExtenDir project...you'll find it in a quick search

Radio Version : T302

Pocket PC 2002
The Operating system is in German , I need to change the same to English .
Can someone guide me please .
I am not a techie guy and hence request someone's Help.
I would be exteremly thankful .
Thanks and regards
I do my ROM updates using the XDA's bootloader and an SD card. This seems to work a little better with less chance of things getting messed up. There's also a way to run an installer program on your PC but my observation is that a lot of people who have had problems have used this other method.
a few questions first:
Who is your carrier now?
Do you have an SD card 32MB or larger? (If you don't you'll need one.)
Does the phone/Internet work satisfactorily (even though it's in German)?
DISCLAIMER: I am an idiot. I've probably forgotten some crucial detail or two here. It's up to you to figure out where I'm full of sh*t before starting.
Spend an evening or two reading all of the threads in this 'ROM Updates' forum. It's good to understand the ways something can go wrong and how to avoid making that happen.
Back up all of the data on your XDA before starting. This includes your contact/calendar/task data (normaly these sync with Outlook on your desktop PC when you run Activvesync) as well as any documents that you have saved to device RAM.
Some people do a full backup of their XDA, but it's tricky to restore from this backup when you're not restoring to the same OS version that you backed up from. So I don't bother - I just make sure my outlook data and documents are stored away somewhere safe on my PC.
Back up any data that you've stored on your SD card. You'll end up erasing the SD card as part of the process.
Go here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/XDAtools/
and download XDA tools. You'll use this program to move ROM images to the SD card in your XDA to update the ROM.
Go here:
http://www.romanweb.com/yorch/
and in the "ROM Kitchen" section choose the elements you want to have installed in your XDA along with the OS. The XDA has leftover space in the available ROM memory after the basic Operating System is in there, and the kitchen allows you to put other stuff in here (so it won't take up RAM unless you're actually using it). You can choose a European O2 image or a US T-Mobile image. As long as the bar at the top of the page doesn't read "Overload" you can make a ROM image with what you have selected. Make sure that "Zipped NK.nb1 (SD-Card flashing)" is checked, and press "Build ROM Now" The kitchen will go work for a few minutes and finally will indicate that it's ready to download. Make a note of what your choices were for this image (this is more important after you've been playing and you have downloaded a few different ones), and download the ZIP file to your PC.
You need some software like WinZIP to extract the nb1 file from the ZIP file. If your version of Windows (XP, 98Plus, etc understands "compressed folders" this will work. Use whatever method to extract the .nb1 file from the ZIP file that you've downloaded.
(NOTE: You CAN'T just rename the extension of the file to .nb1 if it's something else like .zip or .exe. Sounds obvious that this won't work but people try it anyway)
Put your SD card into your XDA (you've backed up the SD card, right?) and press the soft reset button on the bottom while holding down the power switch. This will put you into the "Wallaby Bootloader" of the XDA. Read about it here: http://www.xda-developers.com/bootloader/ Press the Contacts button on the upper left of the front to the XDA, and use the joypad to highlight CE+BOOT TO SD. Then press the middle of the joypad to start the copying of your machine's Rom to the SD Card. The screen will count up the progress until it indicates that it's done. Remove the SD card and reset your XDA again.
Put the SD card back into the XDA - it will detect that the SD card is no longer formatted (the ROM image overwrites the formatting) and will ask to reformat the card. Select Nein (German for No). Put the XDA in the sync cradle, and use XDA tools to move the ROM and Boot files from the SD card to your PC for safe keeping. IF you've backed up both the ROM and boot files there should be an .nb1 (ROM) and an .nb0 (boot) file to transfer
Now use XDATools to move the new ROM image .nb1 file that you cooked up in the kitchen onto the SD card. When this is done, remove the XDA from the cradle.
Make sure your battery is fully charged. Don't want to run out of juice during the next step.
You might want to turn off the phone part of the XDA next. I haven't, but people always wonder what will happen if someone calls you while you're in the middle of an upgrade.
With the new ROM image on the SD card in the XDA, soft boot the XDA with the power switch held down. This time the XDA will recognize that there is a ROM image on the card and will offer to install this image.
If you don't get the screen offering to install the image, make sure that you installed the ROM image to the SD card using XDATools. Just copying the file to the SD card using activesync or Windows file copy won't work.
When you do get the offer to dowload the ROM image, press the "Action" button to do so. Again the counter will count up, and when it is done the system will do a checksum (to make sure it got loaded right). If the checksum is OK, it will tell you to Hard reset the XDA. Remove the SD card, and press the button inside the tiny hole on the right bottom. This will turn the XDA all the way off. Wait a couple of seconds, and then press it again to Cold Boot the XDA.
If you've been good, the XDA will boot up with a new, English ROM version installed.
***
Some other notes:
If your bootloader is Version 5.17 the above process won't work (the bootloader version is shown on the first bootloader screen). Read the xda-developers page about the bootloader for info on what to do if this applies.
Need help
THanks for a very explained reply .
Infact since I did not had SD card and I tried to run the upgrade utility and guess I had screwed up .
Now when i power up i only see a progress Bar and try to connect the cradle to laptop it does not sense the device as well .I tried soft and hard reset couple of time .
Bootloader is working and its v5.15 .
I am totally helpless .
Is there anyway out from here .
I would be thankful . Please help
Hi ...
Seems the upgrade files have been corrupted. Whenever you make a soft or hard reset it trys to flash the ROM. The safest option here since the bootloader is working fine is to get a ROM backup on SD card from any other working device (it doesn't matter what ROM version), but it should be the ROM only. Make sure it's NOT the RSU backup.
Insert the SD card into the device and go to the bootloader screen. It should sense the ROM backup and will flash your XDA.
Good luck ...
Thanks to Cooperative people !
THanks !! ,
Thanks for your help .Especially to Qman and Ronin !, who went out of the way to help me fix my XDA problem .
People like them make this world a little better !
Cheers to them .
Finally after lot of struggle with Ericsson Parallet MP3 Burner which had glitch with windows XP and then XDRIT problem with windows 98 ( XDRIT does not work with 98 ) and then when i used XDRIT with windows XP thru a parallelt port ROM burner it read but declined to write . Even ROM image tool when wrote to the ROM , XDA refused to accept it a CE Rom .
Finally with right leads , I got my XDA working again !!
Thanks for your help and lead to right threads !!
Have a nice weekend and thanks for your timely help .to all who have contributed to this place called XDA forum ...

Extended ROM; How can it be made useful?

Hi there,
I made visible the extended ROM of M600 with registry tweaks seen in this forum. I dont use any of the programs on the extended ROM, coz I dont like my phone to be customised for my service provider. (I soft reseted while it was trying to customize after the hard reset).
Now I have a 10MB of Ext ROM on "My Device". My qustions are;
1) Is this Ext ROM just like another 10MB SD Card?
2) WOuld this space make the my handheld run faster? or can this be made available fot programme memory?
3) Is there any advantage of installing programmes on it compared to on th SD Card?
Currently I have about 3MB of Orange CAB files on it. None of them I use.
How can I use this space efficiently?
Thanks in advance for any comments
ps: Another thing I just remembered is that, after I made this Ext ROM visible, I cant save the camera pics to SD card. The options on the camera settings are to save it on Main Memory or Ext ROM! it doesnt recognise SD card! funny! Any way around?
Anyone please..?
I order:
1) Yes it is exactly like a 10MB SD card, you just can't remove it from the device. If you need to hard reset it will become hidden again but the data will not be lost.
2) No. Program memory is RAM and this is FLASH. You can only use it for storage.
3) It is mounted before the SD, so if you have an app that needs to run on start up, you can put it on the ext ROM but not the SD.
4) I suggest you move the Orange cabs to your PC. Having the i-mate variant I had 9MB filled with stuff out of which all I needed were Skype and Voice speed dial. Then use this space for the basic and most needed apps. Also some apps like TCPMP can be used with content from different SD cards so ext ROM would be a good place for them. I try to keep main memory free for outlook stuff.
5) Yea, the camera app only seems to recognize the first storage card it sees. Don't know about a fix for that.

Thank you very much, Levenum!
I finally understood a bunch of things about the ExtROM.
About this 5th point, I would add something.
The same identical problem raises when the \Network path created by Resco Explorer is shown on the main memory root.
The internal camera seems able to access only to the first two objects in the mountpoint list (you can see this list when installing some apps, as the dest options radio button)
So, question comes out: what about hiding ExtROM again after installing startup apps on it ?
I mean: are those apps still runnable, when staying on a hidden mountpoint ?
Thanks for any answer
..._
Sorry to butt in on this topic, but I have also been thinking of doing this.
I would just like to know though once the Extended Rom has been unlocked as described in many past posts, can you lock it again?
I am just asking this because, what happens if I have to return the phone? Surely messing with it would void any warranty?
I would need to restore the CABS back to Extended Rom, and then lock it before returning it.
Thanks

Interesting, I never tried it. Perhaps if you don't change the MountHidden flag, but only the MountOrder.

I don't know about other devices, but in case of the Prophet it's just a matter of changing back the registry values and soft resetting.
Thanks for that.
I have already backed up my Extended Rom, as Total Commander let me copy the CABS without unlocking the Extended Rom.
Orange has only added 1.95 MB which seems such a waste of vital memory.
I have heard that approx 10 MB is set aside for this. Is this set physically in manufacture by HTC? Can the extended Rom be merged into main memory like partitions can be merged on a PC?
Thanks
I read somwhere that removing things from the extended rom gives the device more storage available and shown int he memory part of settings. This however is not true, the extended rom is a seperate partition, full or empty the device will work the same.
I use mine to store the cabs of installs I use when I hard reset. Saves me copying them over each time.
Thanks very much Levenum and others who contributed. That was very informative and I am glad many others have benefited with this thread.
Cheers
One note:
I made a little experiment this Friday, which require a me to restore my Jamin to it's original state. (Hard reset + restore ext ROM).
I didn't check the CAB attributes when I copied them so even though the ext ROM was in it's original state all cabs that were used after first hard rest were deleted and didn't install after second hard reset.
So when restoring your ext ROM make sure you mark all CABs 'read only'.
I unlock ExtRom and put mein cab, edit config.txt.
But after HardReset mein cab didn't installiert.
I think, dieses cab need to signen.
Help me please signen mein cab or any cab theoretically.
you also need the modified autorun.exe, the config file isnt read by the default one.

I have renamed the file so:
my_file.cab -> Default_my_file.cab
All the same it is not installed!
There it is spoken about Wizard, i have O2 Xda Neo.
Where it is possible to take patched file Autorun.exe?
Can somebody to lay out it if it´s have?
Please, help me.
as the thread says, you cant just rename the file as it needs to be signed and designed for wm5 for it to isntall. To do your own cabs you need to have a special autorun.exe that reads a config file.

Any advice for a Newb

I have read all of the Wiki's and quite a few other postings and will try my first flash when i get home. Does anyone have any advice for me before i try anything? I just got the Wing and it is my 1st PDA and I am very excited to start customizing it but i dont want to trash or as i've heard "brick" the thing so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
flashing a new ROM is actually wwwwaaay easier then the threads teaching you make it seems.
advice is... flash to a custom ROM.
decide what you want your phone to be able to do. compare the different ROMs before you flash. collect and organize cabs etc for the programs you will want to install after flashing. then go for it!!
Thanks for the response. How do io even start to flash do i need special sodtware on my PC. and what is SPL? i read i need 4.0 or higher or i will brick my phone. when i say i am a newb i mean complete newb. i dont even know where to start to install the files or anything.
to check your SPL, perform a soft reset while pressing the camera button. You should see a three colored screen with the words IPL and SPL and whatever. If SPL is over 4, then you can use USPL (temporary unlock) or HardSPL (permanent unlock). Note that in this case unlock means the removal of a block that forbids the flashing of custom roms. This is called a CID unlock.
SPL = Secondary Program Loader
similar to the BIOS in a pc..tells the device to load windows, etc
Hard-SPL = is a "permanent" change/upgrade..in this our case it changes your SPL to "yang4.7" or something like that
Herald-USPL = temporary upgrade to HTC Herald SPL 5+
thanks MV3 for the deffinitions and explanation it really helped alot. where can i find some .cab files at.
not like i wanted.
well things did not go like i wanted because i couldn't even backup my damn contacts because the stupid activesync wont back them up. getting tired so i will try this again tomorrow.
download and install HTC Backup
or PIM Backup..cuz they are freeware hehe
connect to your usb and transfer/install on your device. then you can run the program and backup or restore your contacts, messages, notes, calendar, etc.
if you have a data / internet package..you should be able to download through your phone....if that's not working.. you can download it to your computer..then email it to yourself... but really, via usb is much faster/easier.
cool can i active sync the files i need with this software to or no. and how exactly do i active sync a .cab or flash or anything for that matter.
well... synchronizing with active sync kinda sucks... and is rather annoying
it just synchronizes windows outlook, outlook/ms contacts, and other ms stuff.
if the file is a pc installation/setup file.. you need to connect your phone via usb.. then run the file on your computer and it installs it to your phone... your phone will ask where you want to install it.
if it's a .cab file, transfer it to your phone... then search for where you put it and run the .cab file.
to transfer files between your pc and your phone... on your pc's activesync... click "Explore"... or just open my computer/windows explorer.. and open Mobile Device..or whatever your computer named it.
to flash.. the instructions are usually on that ROM's page..
ok i got it. so i dont necessarily need to install it to a specific folder, just somewhere i will remember.
correct

FYI: There is a way around this. When you execute the .exe file it does establish a .cab file in the folder on your PC for ActiveSync to use to install it on your Phone. So, what I have done in the past is go to the folder on my PC, find the .cab file and then transfer that .cab file to my SD Card and then install the .cab file on your phone. Search for where you put it on your Phone SD card and run the .cab file. It does work as I have done it many times. Then continue as stated below.
ok I will try it that way too thanks guys for all your advice. all I,ve done so far is a game and some themes.but I want to get my wing running faster so what should I install. and how can I run a app and still listen to wmedia at the same time?

To make it faster, you have to kill a lot of the junk that's in it from starting up, or you can use any third party ROM.
Hello fellow newbie..
Beleive me i feel u and all these questions ur asking, i was in the same boat and for the most part still am about certain things...i to wanted my device (wing) to run faster and EVERYONE advised me to flash a 3rd party rom (ttran biggy 3.0 is awesome) heres the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365607
not only is it fast and slick lookin but it gets rid of all that 'stuff' u dont need and frees up ALOT of memeory so u can still add stuff (cabs/programs) u want...he even provides instructions and 'how-tos' on the thread just follow exactly using USPL instructions when flashing...if u are in need of cabs go to the 'Herald' section or click here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=348) its the same device and concepts as the Wing, ull find everythin u need here

There are many people who cannot connect with ActiveSync. I had trouble with it for months. So, that is another way of installing an application without using ActiveSync. This is also used as you said, to save the Cab file on your SD card.
Thanks Ivan i have read your "how to flash" thead alot of your other postings bro so i know you have this thing down pack and appreciate the advice.
Thank you too timace any dod and dont's advice you have feel free to Pm me or post it. I just dont want to brick my phone.
yesterday i loaded some themes and a game and some of my ringtones that i had made from my old nextel and now i feel brave enough to flash the rom.

i have a few netframe "?s".....

i MIGHT be n downloading a program to my 8125 but i read alot of the remarks that were under the download and saw that alot of people needed to install Netframe 3.5.......my 1st "?" is how do i kno if i even need to download it i searched but nothing gave me a how to find my netframe. 2nd "?" if i download that n the program n save it to my Mini SD card but then i dont lik it can i just delete it from my Mini SD n my phone will still work or will i have to download whatever netframe i have now ? thanks for ur time ! ps i have windows 5
Depends on which ROM you have; some have it, others don't. Download Schaps Advance Config tool and if it runs fine, that means you have it; if not, you don't. You can remove it at any time and it's best that you install it on main memory rather than the storage card.
THANKS IM JUST GONNA PASS ON IT NOW !!!! F&*^% IPhone icons lol

can't help you or tell you the reason because you are not giving enough details about what you are trying to install, what is going wrong. How are you trying to install. Exe or .cab files. are you just getting error's during the installation
i tried to install .cab & .exe , but it says install unsuccessful, for example SPB & Battery status
mmmm
On what ?... is the cab on the phone or on the PC ???????
i tried both , but i couldnt
You have the HTC Touch Elf right? No cabs at all are instaling on your phone.
Possibiliites:
1. The cab files are being currupted either while you are downloading them or while you are sending them to your phone. FYI Cab files are to be installed via your phone not PC. Transfer the complete cab to phone and just click it to install - Do Not Unzip it. (A cab file looks like it is a zip file or a rar file wen it is on your PC but don't be fooled. it is a cab and does not need to be unzipped) you will only see a bunch of messy files and will just get confuzed. just place the cab on your phone and tap it with your stylus to initiate install
Exe's are to be installed via your PC to your phone through activsinc. place the exe on your desktop (Or wherever) and connect your phone to your PC using Activsinc. Then click the exe on your desktop and follow installation instructions - NOte you will have to still do some clicking on your phone to allow the installation.
2. you are not installing them properly and therfore follow instructions above.
3. your phone is currupt somehow (I don't see how) Try a hard reset and see if the programs will install after that. if not, you might want to return your phone for warranty (I am assuming you just got this phone and this is the first time you are trying to install something.
4. Maybe you have run out of room on your device to install any more applications (if you have been installing tons of other stuff successfully)
I have never gotten any errors installing cabs or exe's exept for when I was trying to install something that my phone did not support. (Not a valid WM application) or something like that.
Edit: You still are not give us much information - What type of error are you getting - What does your phone show/tell you?
Does it start to install and fail half way through? does it not start at all? does it install and the programs just do not run?
Tell us what program you are trying to install - what error you are getting and when you are getting it. Tell us the method you have used to install it etc....
If you want help you will have to provide us with as much information and detail as you can. Otherwise - Good Luck.
I will check back here regularly to see your response and try to help, but if you don't give us much more detail - no one will be able to help you.
Did you flashed your ROM recently?
it start to install and fail half way through, but not all of the softwares , for example i cant install tcpmp,wm router , battery status , and alot of softwares , the error is always the same ( it start to install and fail half way through)

I don't know about battery status or wm router but TCPMP is an exe type installation. if you try to install this using your phone by putting the TCPMP installation on your phone and clicking to install, it won't work. You have to put the installation file on your computer, connect your device to your computer through activesinc. then click the TCPMP Installation on your desktop and follow instructions. Make sure you accept installation on your device when your device asks. The others may be the same
i did like that , but nothing changed , same message , install unsuccessful

Are you trying to install to your storage card or to device? Are you certain that you have enough storage space left?
Do you have any problems with Activsinc?
Have you tried downloading another copy of TCPMP - Maybe the copy you have is no good.

I don't know if I can help you with this problem. I have never had any problems installing anything onto my device even when the app wasn't compatible. usually still installed, just wouldn't run. I am still using official stock WM 6.0 rom that came on my device. (have not ever flashed a new ROM or Radio and don't know anything about that. If you did flash a new ROM or radio, that could be what is causing your problems and you may want to examine in the thread where you got your ROM or Radio from for answers or to see if anyone else is having the same difficulties. Perhaps PM the person who cooked the ROM. If you havn't flashed any new ROM or Radio, then maybe you changed something in your registry that you shouldn't have with a registry editor (just a thought - don't know if you have ever done this) or maybe you have an app on your phone that is causing conflict when trying to install other apps. You can always try a hard reset of your device (if you don't mind starting from scratch again customizing your device) and then try installing TCPMP and see if it works right after a hard reset. That would suggest either something was changed in your registry or that another app was causing conflict. Bit of a pain in the a## having to reinstall everything(unless you don't have much installed on your device) and still no guarantee that it will work. Before doing a hard reset, you might want to look into backing up your device. (I don't know anyting about backing up - what program to use or how much it can back up such as setting or such but you might want to check it out. Also make sure you sincronize your device with your computer prior to hard reset so that all your contacts, appointments etc... are up to date that way after a hard reset you can just syncronize your device again and get your contacts and appointments etc... back.
If anyone else has any suggestions here -- Please feel free to jump in. I know that I would be really annoyed not being able to install new apps to my device.
Good luck. I hope this gets figured out for you
Rod
i had the same problem, it was unbelievably frustrating, i had to restore my X1i to factory settings, that fixed the problem.
I think you should follow hotrod101's suggestion and do a hard reset. Its quite likely that your phone has malfunctioned or something. It's probably going to save you a lot of work in the long run. Or turn in your device in one of the HTC service centers as already stated. Don't forget to back all your stuff up first.
Good Luck.
thanx alot
you did not say whether your rom is original or coked as i met some problems with cocked roms in installing arabic based applications that was easily installed before flashing me device
Did you get things figured out - If so please share with the rest what you did to solve your problem, in case others are having similar problems. Did one of our suggestions help or did you find another solution?
same problem on my Touch Pro, seams to be common ... some say that it is due to the fixed number (50 installed programs) on the touch flue ... however, I have no more information of how did they got this result, or what is the registry of this issue???
I hope if someone help on this to avoide us the headache cused by hard reset, just thinking about it make me crazy.
even hard reset is not a solution.
