Hi,
I had AT&T send me a new 8525 because my vibrate feature stopped working. Out of the box I could only connect to a GPRS network, never did the E come up. My home is in an Edge area and it was doing this with the AT&T factory ROM. I upgraded to vG3ps hybrid rom and I checked to make sure the bands were on auto. I am at work at have a 3G connection and can connect to it. Can someone tell me why I cant get edge?

what radio rom and what os rom are you using?
did you try flashing the radio rom? maybe you are getting edge and just not seeing an edge icon. did you do a speed test?
i am new to TMOUSA
my phone connects via gprs or edge but signal bar does not shows G or E sign which usually comes with signal when we are in gprs or edge coverage
but it does show a smalll g sign when connect via GPRS
any one else has same issue
i am on latest ofiicial firmware .........i.e 2.13.531.1

try this: just reload the ROM you could some times have a bad flash, it happens.
no effect even after reflash ...........
After few weeks of searching for the right answer in here and everywhere, I gave up,so I have to ask you guys what kind of the problem do you think I have!
So, first of all,I have the HD2 without the branding T-Mobile on the upper front, but after a soft reset I see the stick together pink logo, so I presume it is a T-Mobile device!
Then I have to say the ROM is not cooked, on Connections I have "Enable HSDPA/HSUPA" checked, on band and network, both of them are on Auto (I've play with both of them but no changes)..the 3G is enabled on Comm.Manager
My problem is I'm ALWAYS getting an Edge sign on signal strenght(South Rainbow Blvd or on the strip-for those who are living in Vegas),my internet speed is a little bit bellow bad(no matter what browser I'm using)all the programs that require a internet connection are also very slow,BUT, on mobilespeedcheck.com(or net?)I am getting something above 3G(Evdo/Hsdpa),getting sometimes speeds very close to Broadband.Maybe I should tell you that on T-Mobile data/sign coverage my home is listed as very good signal(dark red)...and my Radio is 2.10.50.26, ROM 2.13.531.1(90063).

Sorry to break it to you...but you don't have a T-Mobile US device...you have an international HD2 with a T-Mobile USA stock ROM applied. You will NEVER get anything above EDGE using T-Mobile USA service with an international device, as the bands that they can use are different. The only way to get 3G in the US out of an international HD2 is to use it on AT&T.
Thank you, man!...But can you tell me why I'm getting those speeds over the mobile speed tests?....'cause that thing I don't understand...and do you know from your personal experience if AT&T internet is worth the sweat to move(like coverage, signal strenght....)

Hi, I just put in Darky's rom onto my Bell Samsung galaxy but my cell signal seems to be weaker and sometimes just loses signals. This hasnt happened before and I'm wondering what the problem is. The bars would go up to 3 then 2 then nothing and then back up to 3. Thank You.
Edit: It appears im on GPRS network and I believe I was on GSM network before so does that make a difference? I'm on Rogers network btw.
I also have speedmod k12h on it as well.
It seems im on the GSM 1900 and I guess I lost GSM 850? Anyone wanna help me?

You have changed the firmware including the modem .
I would ask Darky for solution its his rom .

I just bought a Note 3 (N900S SK Telecom) from Korea which will be used by me in India. I have observed that I get a G icon when i am in 2G mode which should be generally as E (EDGE). The speeds in G are drastically low when compared to E and i get about 2 KB/Sec browsing speed which is absolutely horrendous. Now when i have 3G Reception, i get a maximum of 3 mbps whereas i used to get 7.2 mbps constant in my Note 2. I also get a 3G icon in the top instead of H or H+.
Is there any possible to way to get EDGE and H or H+ speeds in my N900S ?? WIll changing of modems or flashing any other ROM will help?
Anybody knows how to sort out this problem?

Do you use the same SIM and in the same location as when you used your Note 2?
I don't think it's the problem with modem. Most likely it is the problem of the mobile network.
Please follow these steps and show the screenshot: open Dialer, enter *#0011#, Menu, Back menu item, Menu, Key Input, enter Q0 and wait for some seconds...
Then select DEBUG SCREEN > NAS INFORMATION > GMM REJECT CAUSE. Capture screenshot and post it here.
And also check the FIRMWARE INFO section in the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app.

Here you go. I use Local Network of India and it is not a network issue as my other phones gives a EDGE network support
So if that phone has an unlocked bootloader and all those, why not just flash a different ROM? The latest Hong Kong one for example? Damn that screenshot has hard coded Korean language written!
Damn ignore my comment, didn't notice the model number is N900S!

Looks like all info are normal. Should be a network issue. Or please check your APN settings and make sure all parameters are correct?

I've used Korean S2, S3 and all had same problems. Korean S2 was able to convert to International S2 and that gave me EDGE Connection whereas there was no work around for S3 and now Note 3. Can this phone be installed with some other modem which will give me EDGE?
will n9005 roms be compatible?

AFAIK there are several custom roms for N900S. You can google it.

I am just looking to remain stock and was just concerned with this network related issue. How do i solve this now!?
