My Jamin shows "E" instead of "G" after

after updating my jamin with the latest rom the network icon now shows "E" instead of "G" although I dont have EDGE technology and I use GPRS. I successfully made a GPRS connection and after disconnecting it shows "G" for a while then turns back to "E"!!!! anyone experience the same problem!?

this is not a problem. If your network is able to work with Edge, it will appear "E" and than when you connect it will appera "G" (because your device don´t have EDGE). This icon it represents what your network is able to offer.

the problem is; I KNOW THAT MY PROVIDER DOESNT HAVE EDGE!!!

who is your provider? as far as i know all providers in the use who is capable of using this phone on thier network is edge capable. outside of the small mom and pops. cingular/tmobile/cellularone are all edge capable.

I've had this . It momenterily shows the E and then reverts back to G. I am with Orange UK and I am in a Strong 3G network cell. I know that Orange are suposed to running edge out to areas with no 3G but not sure when.
I can only assume that it is picking up an edge signal from somewhere. To tell you the truth I wish I saw the E all the time . That would at least give me edge speeds .

This is defo a problem (Well doesn't hinder the phone). I was using my Jamin with copilot which was connected the whole time to Copilot Live via a GPRS connection. If I come out of the copilot screen and initiat a call the G symbol changes to an E . It then reverts back to a G when the call finishes.

Maybe your provider is doing some EDGE testing?

E GPRS edge icon not showing

I have an Atom Exec and I only get the "G" gprs icon displaying instead of the "E" icon for edge connection (yes, my mobile network supports edge in my area). I'm only getting about 30-40kbs GPRS download speeds too, so definitely not EDGE speeds. Is this a bug? Is anyone else having this issue or is this some setting that the provider needs to change on their end? BTW, I uploaded the latest ROM.

bt my case is a bit different one .at some location in my house
i get E sign bt get G for the rest.
i want to kno if edge or gprs network availability has anything to do
with traffic???

There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in the roaming network you are in.
For the last couple of days I have been unable to connect to the 3g network in Ft. Lauderdale. If I do a soft reset I see the 3g icon for a moment then disappears comes up with no service then comes up with a edge icon or just g icon. Download test confirm an edge connection. I have had this problem in New York as well but thought it was just a local outage. I had to deselect the 3g icon on the comm manger just to get a phone signal. Then I would have no problems and could use the phone and have an edge connection
Is the new at&t trying to close out all of their old accounts and force us to migrate to the new at&t?
I have a 8525 with black satin light. Radio 1.54.07.00

wont use edge for internet only tries to connect to gprs on non gprs company

is there a way i can make it connect to edge and not gprs because all gprs does is fails to connect because t-mobile only has edge is there something i can do or set?
EDIT: its a att 8525 unlocked for t-mobile with wm6.1

EDGE is a form of GPRS
When you see G instead of E as the connection icon, it just means that either
1 - your signal is terrible and falls back on G
2 - That the local T-Mobile antenna doesnt support E
3 - That something's wrong with your phone's reception (change ROM)
Do you ONLY get the G icon?
If you sometimes get E, then your problem is either #1 or #2
If you never get E, then it's definitively #3
if it's 3, and changing your ROM doesnt do anything, try a new SIM card.

Switching bands/3g wizard mobile 6

Hi all. recently upgraded my vario to win mob 6 with a rom off here...XM6r5 to be exact. All runs fine except the problems i am having with the radio connection. I cannot change the band selection from auto to GSM. I think the phone thinks its 3G but i dont want that i need gprs only as the 3g signal round here is rubbish and as it is its hammering my battery life. When i try to change the band it says it cant be done right now please try later!!!?
I have manually selected O2 in the operator selection, i have the G symbol on the top bar, sometimes this becomes an E, i presume for Edge.
Anyone any ideas how i can solve this??

the wizard can't handle 3g, so it wouldn't think its 3g.
the G is for GPRS, and the E is for Edge. this only means that connection is available, not actually connected.
So, to answer your question, you should try the autoconfig (network wizard)
