Wondering if fastboot on or off has any effect on how visionary works... Sometimes the temproot will not work for me. Also, what has been your success rate for perm rooting using visionary?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You post to disable it anyways but what diff does it make? Just PermROOT it and then turn it back on who cares. Most does it via Visionary+ to save time you want to do it manually?
I'm the nerdy type that likes to do the ****s manually, particularly when the source code was originally developed for a different device. That's why I was wondering if others were having spotty results with temproot.
Only had this phone for a little while and I actually like some of the stock features. OG G1 from day 1.
The wifi hotspot mode rocks. Is that available in cooked up roms or is it htc/tmobile proprietary?

G1 boot animations work flawlessly on the Aria with no editing required. I just tested one out. Just FYI in case anyone is interested.
You can find a lot of them here.
You need to have root to be able to do this.
Just download the one you like, place it on the root of your sd card, and use terminal to type in the following command.
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
then reboot.
Thanks to Six6Sicks for his awesome boot animations and easy to follow instructions.
Didn't think to try boot animation from g1. Which the phone I used before the Aria. Can't wait to get home.
Nice find hope it works for most g1 boot animations.

I figured I'd try it out since the g1 has the same screen size as the aria. I'm really trying to track down the stock hero boot animation, so if anyone knows where to find it, let me know.

I also had G1 before and this is great I love the burning apple I now have as bootload its great. Thanks for the info. Question does this also work for themes? Can we use G1 themes or anything else from G1?

hi, im perm rooted with s=off and a clockwork recovery, when ever i default a launcher with the app "home switcher" it never sticks. i was wondering if anyone else has the same problem
Home switcher says right in the download that it doesn't work with Froyo... however, it does work with some ROMS better than others as I've been playing with on my Evo for about 4 months. Sometimes it acts just like you describe. Sometimes it lets me actually stick with a default. Blame the author... he isn't updating it.
Oh wow thanks I didn't even see that lol but yeah I switched to homeshack and it works!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Never heard of that one and it doesn't come up in market. Where did you get it?
Homesmack** sorry for the typo

Actually, it does work with Froyo even though it says that in the Market (that's probably the official line, so we can't ***** about it). If you read comments & online there are plenty confirmed working w/Froyo.
I had it on my MT4G and it worked fine until I permrooted w/S=OFF. Now any time the phone restarts I have to choose the default launcher again.
So, OP is correct, but since it's officially not supported... Glad you found an alternative.
oops didnt refresh page before posting
Fyi, I've tried Home Manager and it doesn't stick either.

Home Switcher has an app made for Froyo (HomeSwitcher for Froyo) I use it and it works very good. There is an added step to take before it sticks but it never fails.
Why do you need a home switcher? Its not hard to change defaults through your settings.

OK, so my wifes MT4G arrived today, and I had it rooted and S-off after a remarkably short time. I then tried to do some research on the pre-installed apps, and which ones are safe to remove. I'm guessing most are OK to remove, but I'm surprised at the lack of info I've been able to find...
Are the apps tied into the framework, or can I just kill without fear? Not sure how T-Mo weave their tangled web...?

Everyone is going to tell u to search there r threads on here that will give u info

The fastest way to remove the cruft is just load Ice Glacier is you want to stick with sense UI. That's nearly the only difference it has from stock; crap pre-uninstalled.
Thanks Kline, I'll take a look...

Well I'm thinking of rooting my phone but I don't know what custom things I can do with it. So what can I do if I root my phone? Haha

Check the threads.. you currently can't root if your running Gingerbread.
Yea you currently can't root yet but when someone finds a method of rooting here's some of the things you can do
1) wireless tether (free) be able to use your phone as a wireless hotspot for free
2) make full backups of your system to restore to
3) Flash a sense rom that is optimized to speed up your device a lot
4) Flash custom kernels to overclock to speed up the phone and Undervolt to save battery plus more
5) Flash AOSP roms for stock android or flash something like MIUI which is a ROM with a different take on android
6) Batch Backup and restore apps
7) remove unwanted sprint bloatware
Those are just some of the things you can do
How much battery saving can be achieved by Undervolt?

A lot if you take a look at ScaryGhouls thread in the development forum he has a kernel called SUV which is Super UnderVolt and it means he put the kernel at very very low voltages. only some phones can handle the SUV though but he also has a stable one which is still UV'ed a lot. But his SUV one Is my favorite kernel devolped for the shift right now I love it. It saves so much battery. I can almost go a day and a half with it.
But until HTC releases source code he can't make one for sense 2.3.3 he only has one for AOSP roms

No problem. Once the evo 3D gets perm root the evo will shortly after that and then once the evo has it we will have it shortly after THAT.
Now that's not for sure but i would bet money tht will be what happens
I was wondering if anyone here was using the v6 supercharger I found on the evo section on the shift?
Sent from my speedy miui with 1.9 of overclocked goodness..
Yes i have used v6 supercharger script and it works very well. Just make sure the rom you are running doesnt already have ram script built in. I cant remember what settings i used, i know i used 12 (bulletproof launcher) and i think it was 3, or 8 but im not sure. I run mikshiftedG and the latest update has juwe11's ramscript built in so not really a need for v6 anymore...

Have used V6 SuperCharger. Don't need it now, but it does work very well . You just have to experiment to find the right settings for your use.
thanks for the input.. im currently using miui 1.8.26 and mainly wanted to test out the turbo 3g
Where do we find this script?
Sent from my MiuiSpeedy
The Script is on the thread for V6 SuperCharger . The installation thread is HERE.
What setting have you guys seen the best results with?
Sent from my MiuiSpeedy
It's been a while, but if I remember right I was running setting #8 . Also, ran #6 for a bit. Liked #8 better, but as I said it's been a while. You should experiment and see what works best for your particular setup.
And what is this exactly for/benefit?

Helps your System better manage the Ram it has. So you can have more Free Ram available at any given time.

It alters the internal ram management settings so its tweaked for your device instead of using the default generic settings. People should be using this and not task killers on android 2.1+.

I was thinking of using this cause i had to get a refurbished phone from sprint and it came with 2.3.3 and im constanttly getting the htc loading screen. If i temp root my phone and run this, will the changes it makes stick after i reboot?

Nope... The script manager app needs root to run. Meaning every reboot you would have to re-temp root your device start script manager and choose your options.

But it still might be worth the effort from what I've seen. Stock unrooted GB Sense reloads constantly .
Agreed

Thanks for the answer, that's what I figured. I've been calling sprint trying to get a different phone cause I love this phone rooted, but without root its terrible. Sense reloads are driving me insane. I use my phone a lot but id have to say I had at least 30 sense reloads yesterday.

You might have to downgrade your busybox... Xda search v6 supercharger and in the thread it will tell you what version of busybox is compatable...

I've been trying all day to try this mod, I got all the files and now I can't install busy box.. it keeps saying my phone isn't rooted... and now it seems root explorer won't load up either... any ideas?
