Q about faux's kernel

With faux's smartass/minmax, etc kernel I will need go run set cpu correct? Im on my rooted stock sensd that ivd removed some of the bloat from.

to overclock, yes you would need to use setCPU. However, I am unsure whether the smartass governor would take effect whether or not you had setCPU to OC with.

Thanks! I'm new to this but figured it would make no sense to install the kernel with no way to actually OC. I like alot of the roms out but I'm happier with the stock setup the way I've modded it. Removed the bloat I know I'll never use, changed the boot ani, battery icon on status bar....etc. Short press google/long press Genius (the way it should be!)
This phone is amazing once rooted!

It sure is also, while setCPU is a paid app, its increased my speed and battery life several hours beyond that of the normal speeds with no profiles set for screen off or battery level. Well worth the buck, in my opinion.
btw, dont forget the thanks button

Hmmm all I get is boot screen locks or loops. With and with out cache/dalvik wipes. Is it a requirement to have set cpu installed prior to flashing this kernel?

no, it shouldnt be.. I had it installed, but I dont think its required.

I dunno if this'll help at all, but I'm on pretty much the exact same setup (rooted, stock, removed bloatware, changed battery in status bar, changed genius button to google search, etc.) and faux123's kernel loaded right up for me, I followed his instructions and came from grankin's kernel.
I have SetCPU but I only use it to OC it a bit, I have max to 1209, no profiles. I'm not sure how much it changes and helps, some days it's really good but today it's been unplugged for 3 hours and it's at 80% with a few texts, about 20 min of internet and 20 min on XDA app.

[ROM][Updated 04/08/11]De-sensed DAS_BAMF 1.4 Non-Themed[ROM]

This is DAS_BAMF 1.4 non-themed as much as I could get it. I did this for myself but a couple people were interested so with Adrynalyne's blessing I decided to post it up for those that do not like sense. I used Go Launcher EX to replace Rosie(sense launcher) and also included the free Go SMS Pro, and Go Missed Notifications (if you want to use a different launcher you can adb push to /system/app/ or just open the ROM zip with 7zip and remove GO Launcher and replace with Launcher Pro, or ADW, etc)
IF YOU BORK YOUR PHONE, THAT'S ON YOU
Instructions
1. MAKE A BACKUP
2. Wipe data/cache/system/dalvik
2. Download ROM
3. Flash ROM via CWR
4. Download one of Adryn's kernels from ROM Manager (under MrBobrowitz's section) or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014239
5. Flash kernel
6. Be happy
Note: there seems to be a little bug with all 3rd party launchers where if you you hit the phone button and the dialer pops up, the contact list is blank and the smart dial does not work. To remedy this long press phone, select a new application and restart Launcher Pro then add the phone back, you may also have to open up the dialer and try to dial a few numbers and delete them and the contacts should appear. Not really sure why this happens.
Again, I did this for me, so I won't be offering any real support for it, and I seriously doubt Adrynalyne will either so flash at your own risk. I have been running this for a couple days and it has been working very well for me, and I will probably keep running it until something compelling is released, with that said, have fun and flash away.

It's very snappy with adrynalyne's oc kernal. The dialer thing did bug me, but resetting the launcher button seems to have fixed it. Thanks.

Odd, WiFi is all good here.

Reboot didn't fix it, I'll reflash in the morning. My battery is at 9%.

the reason for the lp bug is the default path to the dialer...htc's path is different then the aosp (which is why it has to be reset)

Pretty much, the only thing really left in there is friendstream.apk, and friendstream widget, removing those seems to bork syncing facebook contacts.

My sisters evo shift restarts EVERY app

Okay, so I'm a rooted evo user and my sister has a unrooted shift. I understand that this is a known problem but I haven't found any real solution to it. Whenever she goes from one app another, the app before gets closed. So if she went back to that app it'd restart(whether it'd be HTC sense or a game she went back to after replying to a text)
This kind of angers me because I'm pretty much a android fan boy and I dont like the fact that my sisters getting the wrong impression of android; she wants to go back to blackberry. Any one have a clear cut solution?
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

Did she do the latest sense update? It fixes a lot of the bugs from the new update

I was having the same problem then I did a force software update and that fixed almost all of the sense restarts. I had a couple of apps that would still restarted so i went in and cleared the cache and that fixed those apps. setting > applications > manage applications > scroll to apps still FC and select > then hit "clear cache" or just uninstall and then reinstall from market

What ROM is she running? Sense based or not? CM7?

The latest OTA update still does not fix the HTC Sense reloads. I just ended up installing the GO Launcher EX as a replacement launcher.. no sense widgets but no more stupid loading screen

I font know about you but after about a day, Go Launcher seemed to slow down my phone

Has anybody tried turning off all window animations? I ask because my wife has a shift and thru 2 updates she has not had this issue.Her phone is not rooted.

1. I use v6 supercharger update 8
2. Busybox v1.16.2
3. My setting is aggresive 2 (number 3)
4. Disable lock home in memory, settings < cyanogenmod setting<performance
5. Reboot

oxygen-minfrees don't stick, no matter what i do but hard to kill launcher does

what it does??? does somebody need ram? why? there is always almost 200MB of RAM free. So our devices have 353MB and it's onli less than 30% used so i think nobody needs any of app or script to free ram why you buy phone with more ram and you do not allow phone to use it?

I ran this, not sure how much performance I got.. I am running stock HTK launcher.. same problem as you

Try use V6 with "Loopy Smoothness".. i cant recall how to do it, but works perfect on my late Galaxy Ace.. i use v6 but it kill my adw launcher.. so i need to use loopy smoothness script..

I can confir that it works with my in signature posted rom and kernel. I think it works cause i now have always much more ram then i had before this script I used i think option 7.

V6 Supercharge Script

After seeing all the set ups in the ROM/Kernel combo thread, I put V6 supercharge on my phone last night. Maybe it's too early but I am not seeing any improvement. Let me add that I always exit out of apps using the back button vs. the home button which normally kills the app thus keeping my RAM more free. I don't know if that's why I'm not seeing any difference or what. My phone is already snappy so I'm not complaining. Just wanted to see what sort of results everyone else was getting.

Make sure the "Supercharge" script under /system/etc/init.d is set to "Run at Boot" and "Run as Root," using Script Manager of course, and then Reboot your device.

Yes it stuck and yes I am running the script in the system folder. Maybe a better question to ask is what sort of improvements have others seen and what setting are you using.

I'm using 8 at the moment. It's hard to tell, because this is a new ROM for me, but I ran 9 on MIUI and there was definite, visible improvement in response time.
