G1 boot animations work flawlessly on the Aria with no editing required. I just tested one out. Just FYI in case anyone is interested.
You can find a lot of them here.
You need to have root to be able to do this.
Just download the one you like, place it on the root of your sd card, and use terminal to type in the following command.
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
then reboot.
Thanks to Six6Sicks for his awesome boot animations and easy to follow instructions.
Didn't think to try boot animation from g1. Which the phone I used before the Aria. Can't wait to get home.
Nice find hope it works for most g1 boot animations.

I figured I'd try it out since the g1 has the same screen size as the aria. I'm really trying to track down the stock hero boot animation, so if anyone knows where to find it, let me know.

I also had G1 before and this is great I love the burning apple I now have as bootload its great. Thanks for the info. Question does this also work for themes? Can we use G1 themes or anything else from G1?

Download launcher pro plus from the market. It allows for widget resizing.
So I'm assuming there isn't a way to get this to work w sense? What about when rooted do you think its possible?

You can use launcher pro with sense, but you will lose the use of the sense launcher (rosie.apk) and the sense widgets. The launcher pro plus widgets are almost the same as the sense widgets. If you go ahead and root, what I do if running a sense based ROM is actually remove rose.apk and move launcher pro over into /system/app. Works like a charm and I have not encountered any issues as of yet.
You can use ADW Launcher. I think the free version lets you resize widgets.
Alright sweet am going to try ADW launcher first if that fails me ill just go ahead and root and change the rosie.apk to launcherpro so u say no hickups or anything like that?? No slow downs??? I rooted my old Eris no problem using adb n the sdk n all that so hopefully this journey won't be to bad.... do they have the one click root for the incredible yet or still done via command promt? Prolly should have looked before I asked sorry but thanks for all the help guys

Did you install it using a file manager or push it to /system/app? On my mt3g I had issues with jonasl's touch input keyboard force closing when i tried to push it to system when it was intended to be installed like a regular apk.
Make sense?
I used astro file manager ....how is the other way to push it?

Some keyboards have to be in /system/app and others need to be installed traditionally. That might be your issue.
yeah i havent had any luck yet with the stock android keyboard. but it doesnt support multi touch does it? but if u download smart keyboard in the market they have an android skin that kinda looks like the stock android keyboard. u might wanna try that.
I use ultra keyboard. Looks like the android keyboard but with multi touch. Plus you can customize the **** out of it. Great solution.

Please post questions in Q&A section.
I come from the Samsung Vibrant Dev area. A friend of mine has a Droid X and all he does is flash Roms, doesn't know much about them. His phone does a TV like on/off animation when the screen goes on and off. What is that? Where is it located/ implemented. any info on it would be great. As search is down right now i cant search it. I am interested in possible porting it.
The liberty tool box has a bunch of different startup animations to choose from, I'm not sure if the one your looking for is in it but it does have the option to add ones from your SD card. Its meant to run on the x with the liberty rom but if you can port it then it might be a good place to start.
Edit:ah just reread your post you're looking for when it goes to sleep, sorry don't know that one. Sounds cool I'll have to look out for it.

Unless his rom is built on 2.3 I don't think it is. Since that power off tv animation is part of 2.3 and 2.3 only good luck.
I think you might be right but I thought it was a feature he was planning on adding. I did some searching and did find that the ultimate Droid has the feature, here's the link...
http://www.theultimatedroid.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/68-the-ultimate-droid-300-beta/
Edit: and just because its a feature of 2.3 doesn't mean its impossible to port it.

Is it possible to change the htc screen when android us booting up from nand.is boring to me I know its in the rom most likely so where in the rom would I have to change it?
Sent from a guy living in a van down by the river
The animated one is bootanimation.zip for nand roms, found in /data/local or /system/media, idk for sure about sd builds boot animations, they may be in the same place.
The screen that shows when you first boot up your device is called the splash screen. These have to be flashed via ruu.updateutility.exe like a rom or radio. Search hd2 wm6.5 themes and apps forum for 'splash'
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Not those ones I already got both of those changed I'm talking about the htc screen before the boot animation right after you bootfrom nand.

Oh, I know what one you're talking about now. The one that comes with the rom I use matches the boot animation, so I tend to forget that it's a separate thing from the animation. Unfortunately, I don't know where that one is or how to change it. I seem to halfways remember some mention of it being in the initrd.gz , but I could very possibly be wrong.

Yess your right and is a thread somewhere in here telling you how to do it, its quite challenging. IMO

I'm tearing my hair out here... Maybe someone can fill in the blanks for me.
I recently switched to this rom as suggested by a user of this forum. Fantastic Rom, and I regret stating on stock for long.
However, the lack of a genius button is almost a deal breaker for me as I use it to text while driving - I just hit the button and connect it to my stereo.
In my attempts to add the functionality back in (which according to another thread here is possible), I'm having no luck, but plenty of fc's.
To be honest, I know enough to root a phone and flash a Rom, but this one is a little rough for me, so I admit I took the lazy approach...
First I found a zip file for the app, but it just fc'd even after fixing permissions and rebooting.
Second I tried adb to push the files to their app appropriate locations, but I can't figure the damn program out.
I finally settled on using es explorer to move the files from my sd. I fixed permissions with rom manager and rebooted, and it still fc's.
Any ideas? Bad download? Am I missing a related app that is tightly integrated with this one?
I suppose I could try restoring the stock rom, backup the genius app, flash darkside and then restore the genius backup, but that's a pain...

Hmm, I never tried putting the genius app sense 3.5. You used the Genius app for GB, right? There is one for Froyo and one for GB. I know that the apk HAS to be a system app or its FC city.

I believe it is the GB app, but since the first link I tried was dead, It's possible I pulled the wrong one while searching for the file elsewhere. I'll check that.
The two apk files are in system/app, and the two so files are in system/lib as per instructions given in a thread.

Just a thought...
I'm no expert at this, but if I have a copy of stock TMO GB on my computer, is it possible to just unzip the folder and pull the 4 required files from it?

Here is a couple of zips I have on my computer at home that may be what you are looking for. I think 1 of them is for froyo and the other for GB, but im not sure.

Thank you! I used the genius_fix.zip and manually dropped the files in with ES Explorer according to wademan's directions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218808&page=3
Mapped the button and it works like a charm!
Now I have a great rom and have all the apps I need for my daily use.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this. Much appreciated.
Awesome. You were probably using the Froyo app.
