Hey guys I'm wondering what apps everyone's using to physically write notes with a stylus.

I don't need it very often but when do, I use Skitch. It can save to Evernote, and so it can sync to other devices.

SuperNote also works with the dictation microphone built in the N7
If i use the tablet to surf and email..just basic things and watch movies. Would the tab 2 10.1 be sufficient enough because i don't wanna spend $500 for the note 10.1 if the tab will be fine. And how have the official updates been for the tab2... Thx in advance

I would say for basic stuff, you should be fine with the Tab2. The big reason to get the Note 10.1 over the Galaxy Tab 2 IMO would be if you used it for note taking, or artistic work, because you would have the S-Pen. Updates for the wifi only models have been coming about one per month from what I can tell, not sure about the 3G model. There hasn't been anything recently though, but I'm guessing that Samsung is spending time getting a Jelly Bean update ready rather than continuing to work with ICS. I'd guess that we'd get an official Jelly Bean OTA shortly after the SGS3 does, given the recent "leaks" popping up on SamMobile.
The tab 2 will keep you happy.
I wish my 7 was a 10 sometimes.
Install cm10 in this tab and you will make all basic and advanced tasks

tab1:
1-tegra2 better in some games that need tegra chip but not better in videos as no neon libraries so less extesions work for videos
2-android honeycomb 3 not ics or jelly bean officially
3-front camera 2 mpixels back camera has flash
4-no sd card slot
tab2:
1-omap processor which is open architecture so more development friendly and operate more video extensions
2- ics official out of the box and leaked jelly bean (i think official in the near future)
3-front camera vga back camera has no flash
4-sd card slot up to 32 gb and some managed to operate 64 gb
5-thicker by about 1mm
6-front speakers so better audio directed to you
I recommend tab2 and install cm10 in it work good in this tab

Tab 2 ftw

I think tab 2 is a good option..only cons are no AMOLED display, No adobe flash player support and mediocre camera without flash.. if you don't mind these then tab 2 is an excellent choice

If you aren't installing random apps from the Market and aren't sideloading pirated apps (shouldn't do that anyway), my opinion is that you should be safe without an AV app. From what I've seen on various android news sites, most issues come from China, and only happen to get to the US and other western countries when they get popular on the Play Store before getting pulled by Google. The other source is pirated apps.
Anybody have any input or experience on this?

Also massive weight difference, and massive battery length difference. And the screen on the Surface is more widescreen making portrait viewing awkward. Try out the surface and see how well it works for you physically. Can you hold it comfortably for the length of time you need to annotate PDFs? I found it uncomfortable, but find the thin, light (and cheaper) Note to be quite comfortable to hold while I grade student papers.
I will say that I miss PDF Annotator from my windows tablet (and OneNote) but I do love my Note, and have found that LectureNotes and ezPDF do a good job at letting you annotate PDFs. Not quite as nice as PDF Annotator, but pretty darn good. And I think the software will continue to improve, particularly as more s-pen enabled devices get out there.

I wish there is an app combines ezpdf + mantano reader. Ezpdf is great for taking note but Its not smooth as mantano.

You make a lot of good points. The note is indeed very thin and light with great battery.

I got a surface pro today. Very heavy, poor battery life, and so far I have not found a pdf annotation app that is as good as ezpdf. It does scroll through pdfs very quickly though.
Edit: the Surface pro basically gives one the same experience and capability as a tablet pc from the last decade. Due to its weight and poor battery life, its true tablet capabilities are very limited.

Is there any good app for the Note 10.1 2014 that will allow me to record screencasts of presentations I've done for class using Google Slide files?
I want to use Explain Everything, but it's a bit one limited compared to the iOS version.

Does anyone know if Sketchbook pro/mobile will be updated to allow artists to take full advantage of the increased resolution?
It would kinda suck if we're stuck with the same restrictions that were on the 1080 Note 3 now on the QHD screen :-/
Maybe not right away.. However, you can bet that there will be an update for it. As sketchbook does have an app specifically for the Note series.

ok good news:
The Sketchbook app for Galaxy will be updated for QHD:
https://twitter.com/senectus/status/516579663095689216
I'd assume its the same version found in the Note 2014. I have one and it handles 2500*1600 just fine! If I had to wager a guess, well get the special "Sketchbook for Galaxy" tailored for the higher resolution!
