This **** here is starting to work my nerves. I wish these cheap mofos would just go buy a damn flip phone or something and stop complaining. I REALLY could think of a ton of other things to do with my time than focus on this. People really need lives.

For me I love my Evo wouldn't have it any other way just sharing with the community on current news about what's going on with our phone.

I knew my area was limited on 4G and I still bought the Evo 4G.
I have patience to wait for 4G in my area, this isn't "defrauding". Some people just have way too much flipping time on their hands and want to cause rukus whenever they find a chance to.

I think the fee is alright if there is 4g in the future, but seriously I'm in detroit and nothing on the horizon so far....they are throwing 4g in these podunk towns and ignoring major metropolitan areas....what gives?

I'm going to be the plaintiff of record in a class action suit against McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Hardee's, Carl's Jr., Jack-in-the-Box, and every other fast food restaurant chain.
The suit will seek damages of over 99 Billion for failing to serve food that looked exactly like the photographs on the menu boards and in television commercials. Despite the fact that we voluntarily ate the food in question, we believe we have been defauded of our money because the food wasn't quite as appealing as we were led to believe.

I honestly think people ***** too much for some sort of subliminal negative reflection on there purchase. Nobody put a gun to your head to make such a purchase. I'm sure some of you know how to read the small print before you buy right? If not I'm saddened how ignorant some people are. Big company's are shady as ****, that's why they are loaded. No such thing as a legit salesman. Everyone in general and will ALWAYS look out for themselves first. So the people mad about some bull**** 4g excuse and you hate your EVO, need to stick with cheaper phones.

What lawsuit would they file? All the tools available for a customer to check if "4g" is available are at their disposal. A judge would laugh at them if this somehow made it to a court, which it won't. Just like my customer today who said she is recording me to place me on the news, I sincerely told her I gave her no permission to record and hung up.... idiots.

Saw this as a comment on an androidcentral post about the within:
Listen up and listen good cuz I don't lie or play when it comes to this stuff... Sprint Is kicking but this year and will continue that but kicking like none of you can imagine. I am a sprint employee work at the West Hollywood Store in CA. It's the flagship store for the west coast Dan Hesse frequents our store device's come through our store sometimes up to 5 months before a rumor about it hits the internet. This is a HUGE year for sprint if you understand business in the least bit you know corporate change takes time. If you can't see the changes sprint has made and continue to make for the better than your just blind or don know what to look for. I know some of you may call me bias and your right I am. But only to one thing and that's customer experience. I love that SPRINT by maintaining is price plans is forcing AT& T and T-Mob todo stuff like the 70 dollar unlimited data even if it is capped. Yes thee above pic is the GS2 i've held it. YES it will be 4G yes we are getting a keyboard version as well as the standard GS2. Yes that phone will also be 4G and dual core not single core. The its not for certain it will be the epic2 or called epic at all. Yes the GS2 is a vicious competitor for the Evo 3D from personal experience I still think the Evo 3D is better. I prefer sense over touch anything I trust htc more than samsungs when it comes to mobile anything and the internal update system htc uses not having to wait for sprint like the last two patches they did for the 3d speaks volumes. Add htcsense.com to that and better build quality and you begin to edge out the competition. Admittedly not by much with the GS2 but still its an edge. As far as the YouTube comparisons of the GS2 to the Sensation to gauge it again the 3D, don't make me laugh the 3D itself makes the sensation look the same way. In no way am I denying the amazingness that is the GS2 I just PREFER htc that's all. Last but not least the GS2 is really really fast it was a tad and I do mean a TAD faster than my 3D but..... My Evo is jam packed 6 email accounts syncing about 80 apps 7 custom scenes setup the whole 9 and the GS2 was but naked not even signed into a gmail account. I say that today this when you watch these comparison vids take into account what may or may not be on the devices in question in terms of data info etc... Once you get these devices in hand your speed milage Will vary depending on how much you throw at your device. It's a good time to be with sprint I'm not even going to get into the improvements happening to the network ill save that for another post. And oh yeah in case you were skeptical on the matter we are absolutely getting the iphone so tell all your apple juice drinking buddies that VZ and AT&T's are numbered it'll be here before you know it. The real question is will it be 4G and honestly even I don't have that answer................ Yet. PS if your in the LA area and you want to switch to sprint I can give you 125 dollar port in credit... Yes we pay YOU 125.00 bucks to KEEP your number give me a shout PM me. Duece

I trust nothing of what that guy wrote. Everytime someone claims to have advanced knowledge they are wrong completely. Why the eff would sprint bring rumored phones around a retail store before they are even announced? That just makes no sense. I have dealt with enough sprint employees who "have the scoop" and turn out to be collosal nitwits before to believe that some random sprint store employee got the scoop on sprint getting the iphone.
I do think he is a sprint employee though because every sprint employee I have ever dealt with is a huge fanboy of the evo.

I haven't heard the details he has shared, but my corp rep brought the regional network rep out who knows all the tech updates and all the phone releases. He said the biggest thing sprint has in the pipe is the network updates. Everyone is getting phones, they are rolling out new tower hardware making speeds, signal quality and increase the number of clients able to hit the servers. He told me it would be a 2 year rollout, but we had 36 tower updates last month. He said there are about 40 new devices rolling out and they would rock!

I work for a regional electronics and appliance chain, that is becoming a full device sprint dealer this fall. At a training event for sales reps the sprint trainer brought up an iphone 5 variant for sprint a few times. Interesting to hear it from this guy as well. Although if I had to guess, they are both misreading it, and all we are likely to see is the new prepaid iphone version coming out for virgin.

I hate when people say the EVO 3d is a better phone than SG2 even though across the board SG2 eats 3d. Granted htc sense 3.0 is sexy, but MIUI is better

Sprint's overall phone lineup is strong with or without the iPhone. It has been for a while. The issues are that they have to quickly maintain and improve their network and hold prices and plans to the attractive level they are now. I don't believe in corporate hype, I believe in underpromising and overdelivering. Sprint did that in the years I've been with them.
Now they have to continue so they can grow and poach away customers who get sick of being robbed by Verizon and AT&T. But without the network that's going to be even harder to do. Take my neighborhood for example--coverage here is poor, Sprint probably has no customers other than people like me who figured out how to force roam, or those who have Airaves. And it's doubtful any new towers are planned, so they better get busy on these network improvement miracles, because reasonably priced unlimited 4G makes no difference to those who can't get it.

We can hope and dream right I do enjoy 4G if I travel to areas with it. Does anyone know where I can find any info on future tower sites? I know someone that had a 12M connection and a 4G IP where there is "no" such service so I am curious.

not where I am either, but I'm sayin' for the rest of the folks that aren't so lucky.

Clearwire is in trouble. They were considering skipping their debt payment this month, which can't mean anything good. They had a $237M debt (actually just an interest) payment due, and sprint gave them $1.6B. That's less than 7 months of interest payments, assuming the payment is a constant $237M each month, and not counting costs of running the company day to day. I have a feeling Sprint just set fire to $1.6B. I guess it's better than having the 4G service just shut off, before Sprint has a chance to get off the ground with their LTE network.
Sprint should have just built their own network, instead of partnering with companies that are damaged goods.
Edit: Most of the first paragraph was originally based on the payment being for both principal and interest. Since it's only for interest....clearwire is screwed. Say goodbye to wimax in a few months. I give it until April, and then clear files for bankruptcy, and their assets are sold off shortly thereafter.

I talked to sprint about it and they said it's probably years off still. So I don't think we'll even have to worry about it for even 2012. They said it was going to take a long time to implement it.

But I realized.. For over a year I've been modding and theming, roming, kerneling and radioing with you guys..
Now, its over..
It sucks because there is almost no development for the GSII on T-mobile..
I was gonna wait for the Nexus that Sprint said was going to come this month, now they say mid 2012..
Plus, ZERO LTE.. I don't trust them..

yeah its crazy what sprint's doing (nothing). I moved to a new town, a few towns over from where I was living, and last year it was great, the data speeds. A few months ago, garbage. Still, garbage. I've been with sprint for 12 years...and i'm considering moving to another carrier. I feel like gsm will be my next step. i'm so pissed that they're running this company into the ground. wimax was such a bad idea.. i'm just gonna smoke a bowl and try to forget that it takes 10 minutes for my phone to download a facebook update, and google music barely ever streams properly.. yo at least the call quality is still superb though.

Not ALL the TMobile phones are free. The G SII is 229.00, according to their website

Totally understand the need for speed. Here in eastern NC, we're never gonna get 4G of any kind, so I'll stick with Sprint, as their service in this area is second to none and their prices are outstanding.

Me too.. was with Sprint for 11 years..
I was suckered into the EVO.. Promised (by not only the sales guy but customer service too) that 4G would be in my area within month..
I was asked to pay 10 bucks more a month.... Call it what you want, it was for the 4G!!!
I was going to wait and get the Nexus as I was told its coming this month, I was even told LTE is going to be spread like a wild fire and by the end of 2012 it will be all over the united states..
Then go look at their site, they show a video of where LTE will be installed.. not even in my state..
I got this phone today.. Its sexy as hell.. My download speeds which I've done about 30 now, lol, vary from 22 down 5 up to the lowest of , 6 down 1.5 up..
It's unreal!!
Netflix,Slingplayer,HBO GO, everything is un real fast...

NetworkVision is going to make some huge improvements in 99% of places guys. Leaving sprint now is like leaving at the absolute worst of times and you'll miss out on the great times in the near future.
LTE will spread like wild fire and be complete by next years end.
Now if you have no problem going and paying more elsewhere and having data caps/throttling then more power to ya.
A site for some very solid sprint network info that I've run across is "s4grub.com" as there is a wealth of detailed information there, most of which you couldn't even get from sprint themselves.

Been hearing the same **** about "plain old" 4G for the last 3 years. Now miraculously Sprint is going to be "complete" with ANYTHING?
I won't hold my breath.

Should I get Sprint GS3?

Hi,
I was debating whether I should ask this question here or at Spring GS3 forum. I think asking here is more fitting.
I am wondering if I should stay with Sprint or not. I am honestly sick of slow data speed and delayed updates for CDMA phones.
But with wonderful dev magic shown here for our Epic4G, I think there won't be much software issues for GS3.
My alternative is Tmo's prepaid monthly4G for $30 per month. I really like the idea of owning GSM phone and getting unhindered updates from google. But there aren't any nexus phone that is better spec'ed then GS3. Also buying GS3 outright is pretty expensive, +$500.
So, if any of you guys switched to GS3, how are you guys? Any issues or regrets?
How is Sprint's data speed? I just found out from today's news that Sprint's gonna roll out LTE to LA, Boston and NYC area within months.
I just don't want to risk locking in 2 years with Sprint and be miserable...

GS3 is a great phone, but unless you need a phone _right now_ would avoid locking yourself in contract until Sprint rolls out LTE in your area. Sprint 3G speed/coverage is very YMMV.

Yeah, my bad. The Verizon one is Free. But they are giving a $25 Newegg gift card on most and waiving the $36 activation fee on some too.

Galaxy Nexus is $19.99 with an upgrade from wireflyfriends.com. I'm definitely considering it. The lowest I can find the s3 with an upgrade is $149.99. If you ask me I don't think its worth it.

I'd never heard of the 'friends' site either. Just looked though and only certain people can apparently use the 'friends' site....it says Simplexity employees and their family & friends (hence the name basically). Wirefly itself though I was already well aware of.

I notice that too and went through almost the entire checkout process and it never asked me if I was a Simplexity employee.It also didnt show up on the site rating function through AVAST which most sites I go to have ratings for.

To directly respond to the OP, regardless of what you decide on phonewise, if it were me, I'd definitely stick with Sprint, particularly if T-mo is the only alternative you're considering. Yeah, Sprint's speeds where NV hasn't hit yet suck, but if they stay on schedule, everything is supposed to be upgraded by the end of next year. And alot more is being done by the end of this year than I'd have imagined when I first heard of it a few months ago.

Well, I am in LA area so I kinda expect LTE to open soon...
But, T-mo prepaid already has HSPA+ working well in my area.
I am guaranteed at least 3mbps with Tmo HSPA+ for sure, and that is all I need.
I like their cheaper plan, but it is bummer to pay lump sum of ~$350 for a year old G-Nex or ~$600 for GS3...
I am hoping for a new nexus device, but no solid rumors about when it will be available... just speculations.
It might come next year, which is too much waiting for me...
If Sprint somehow offers me free GS3 I would stay, but I don't think Sprint can. So I am ready to walk out...

It comes down to if you want the fastest software updates or the best hardware available..
I went gs3 because the hardware is amazing.. and touchwiz really is nice on this thing.. its not like the epic where it just kind of makes things uglier.. it actually adds a lot of usable features on the gs3.. to the point where I would rather run a custom tw than aosp.
P.s. the screens bigger too!
