WPA2 PEAP only works on sense builds - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey guys!
Only sense based builds seem to work with PEAP WPA2 enterprise networks (Both SD/NAND versions). There is a well known problem on Android where the phone does not seem to remember the MSCHAPV2 authentication option even if it is explicitly selected.
I wanted to post this in the dev forum but didn't want to clutter up the place but if any devs can integrate this into non-sense builds, that would be greatly appreciated.
This is the only reason I can't use pure froyo/gingerbread builds anymore as my usiversity uses this configuration for its WiFi and the alternative being me having to log in every couple of steps as I walk around the campus moving between access points.
Thanks for reading!

exact problem
i hav the exact same problem with my university. univ.of tx at dallas.
i wonder if there is a solution and if there is anyone actually reading this.
please reply if someone finds a solution.

So it is a non-sense problem
So here I was thinking it would be a Gingerbread fail.
I first flashed "LEO "Stock Desire" (Cotulla)" and all was well as I signed in to the wpa2-enterprise WiFi using PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2, but I wanted more. Both Gingerbread ROMS TyphooN and PPC_SHIFTPDA gave problems with the WiFi. Hopefully will work soon.

Burning question on Schap's ROM

I am currently running Schaps rom and love it. The only problem is my apps (skype, aim) will not connect over the 3g network, only wifi. I am assuming I overlooked something stupid. Any ideas?

If you give a little more information, including which Schaps ROM you have, someone could probably help. But first read through the whole thread dedicated to that ROM, cuz chances are someone else has experienced what you have.

I am using the Schap's 3.54b and I was not able to find the information I am looking for. I figured out how to load the bootloader and ROM without any questions but this mundane detail has me stumped. I also cant figure out why my applications are defaulting to my 3g connection when there is perfectly good wifi available.
Sry I was just laying the groundwork for someone else to help. I've never used Schap's ROM. Although did you post in that thread too? Because that would be a better place.

MAC can be found in Start/Tools/Comm Manager/WiFi press Advanced button then advanced tab
Note that WiFi must be turned on, else it won't display the Mac-Adress, but I guess you know that already.
thanks a lot guys. i bet i went there before(advanced section) but missed the obvious
You guys are awesome
Thank you so much...all of you! I registered on this site just to post this reply.

Either Android or Darky Rom issues - any help is appreciated

Today I ran into the following two issues:
1) IPSEC/L2TP + Shared Secret VPN - this unfortunately is not supporting NAT-T - it wants to switch to tunnel-mode IPSEC (ESP over IP), and will not tunnel the data inside UDP/4500; not all 3G providers pass ESP, however most pass UDP/4500
2) DNS cache - either of the radios off or on should result in DNS cache flush ideally; the issue being that an IP address learnt through query on Wifi or 3G may not still be valid once the list of available datalink transports changes (ie regardless of whether a new radio - dot11 or 3g - appears or disappears, the old DNS cache needs to be invalidated because the name to IP address mappings may well have
changed)
3) When creating a mobile access point using wpa encryption the save button is disabled, switching back to no encryption the save button is enabled.
Are these bugs in Android or in Darkyy's Rom. I am using 9.5 atm and will upgrade to 10 as soon as it is a final release. If these are already addressed, does anyone have any solution to the issues?
I was trying to post it in the Darkyy ROM forum but cant due to access restrictions in xda (need more than 10 posts to reply in a dev forum).
Thanks in advance for any advise.
Always Darky multiple problems
Ask Darky his posts his forum his help pages . He never gives help here .

[Q] Working AdHoc wpa-supplicant configuration for my Glacier?

I'm looking for a wpa-supplicant that support AdHoc in my HTC Glacier but I've found nothing, I've seen a lot in other threads but none works for me, the best thing I've achieved is see AdHoc networks, even "connect" me through them, BUT my phone has no internet.
Can anyone telle why is so hard to get a configuration that actually works on my HTC Glacier?
Please help!
Wrong section this should be moved to Q&A section not Development. Good Luck.

Found our tablet on Samsung OSRC, talanted devs needed :)

Hi everyone
as many many other users, I'm looking for a solution to enable ad-hoc networks with many failed attempts...
the only obstacle that faced all devs on all forums is that they can't produce working wpa_supplicant as they can't edit the appropriate source code for our tablets,
now, devs CAN view the ICS source code via samsung OSRC :
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=GT-P5113
can any 'super talanted' developer make a working ICS wpa_supplicant that can view ad-hoc networks for us?
:good: folks, if you need this too, reply the poll shown above to show developers how many need this
So I guess you all don't need adhoc anymore seems like I'm the only one need this!! forget it devs :\
I have a general idea what ad hoc is but maybe not the whole picture. So can someone please explain why I would need that capability? It seems ICS has included ways to connect devices together to share files, internet, multiplayer gaming.
Edit- Just did a search and have a better understanding but still dont quite get why or what it would be used for.

Technically speaking, ad-hoc networks does not need (infrastructure) to operate, like routers, access points ... etc,
in general, we can say it's a state in which all devices have the same status and communicate with each other freely without routing or so,
In my case, it's just too simple that I need to get my GT-P5113 tablet tethered with my Nokia phone
unfortunately, the stupid Symbian OS of Nokia can generate ad-hoc networks only, so if I take my tablet outside without an available wifi-hotspot (most of time), the only option is tethering with my phone to get connected ...
there were many patches for the earlier android versions, but for ICS still no one could make a working wpa_supplicant patch to enable it,
the obstacle was that we couldn't reach the 'source' of samsung ICS used on our tablets, now samsung released it ... but seems like no one interested in this feature anymore
I still am interested in ad hoc on the tablet and also on the same boat for tethering with my Nokia (N8 FTW). I've been looking frantically for a solution even rooted it 3 days after purchase hoping I can enable the ad hoc.
Would switching to a custom rom solve this problem??
There's also patch made by Polish dev Szym who found that method. Patch automatically make changes in the wpa_supplicant source, but we need someone who know how coding and building from android source.
I already sent to szym question about help, he don't yet mail me back so I waiting for the answer atm.
Patch can be found here - szym.net/2010/12/adhoc-wifi-in-android/
Im only not soure if it support ICS, coz guide was written long time ago...
If someone would be able to undertake this, I'll be glad for modified wpa_supplicant to GT-P3110 as well.
opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=GT-P3110
I hope we manage it soon, stay tuned.

Keep us updated.
I have a hunch the patch is not for ics because it was made a good while ago. If someone can just have the modified wpa file which works with ics to catch ad hoc signal, that would be fantastic. I wonder what changed in ics that made all modded wpa file not working.
Ad Hoc GT2 7 FTW!!!

Has there been any progress on this? I'm desperately looking for a solution.
