Entertaining: Facebook HTC HD2 Page - HD2 General

HTC HD2 has a fan page set up on facebook. The page is actively monitored/moderated by htc personnel who use fake facebook ids. This is apparent from the fact that any comments, questions or concerns that people have about rom upgrades, android, wp7 on hd2 are responded with harshly and abusively.
Facebook is the medium of choice for almost everybody, so why should htc be any different? I however find it very offensive that there are people there acting like experts or moderators, but their only feedback to the page is attacks on any member who joins that page and suggests/states/recommends anything other than Winmo 6.5 stock from htc or t-mobile.
What a shame.

fk facebook. seriously. stuff for attention whores. it's hilarious that even companys have 'pages' there.

Just published my 4-part review series on my Blog about the HTC Hero and HTC Sense

Hi everybody,
i published my 4 part review about the HTC Hero and HTC Sense on my Blog:
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2009/09/a-longterm-windows-mobile-user-switching-to-android-part-4-htc-sense-review/
I figured this might be interesting for anybody who wants to have more in-depth information about the HTC Hero and HTC Sense. Tried to cover all HTC Sense apps in detail.
I hope this isn't against forum rules, because i really think the article could help some people getting better impressions about what HTC Sense really is, before buying the device.
If this kind of posts are against forum rules and not welcomed, please let me know.
Bye,
Shahpur
Great review and nice read, thanks for your hard work and input.
Thanks! My Blog was previously about Windows Mobile primarily, but now i added an Android section and i'm loving it.
The next part will be about all HTC Sense Widget details and layouts, and after that i already have like 40 must have android apps waiting to be reviewed...
My HTC Sense Widgets review should be live on sunday.
This is the link to the complete review series up to Part 4:
Review series of a former Windows Mobile user switching to Android
Also added two picture galleries, the HTC Sense picture gallery already sports pics of EVERY HTC Sense app and Widget and EVERY widget layout (this might be interesting for people who want to see all widget layout prior to buying an HTC Hero):
HTC Hero comparison picture gallery
and
HTC Sense picture Gallery
Just published my next part of the review series. This time i'm reviewing each HTC Sense widget and each available layout in detail.
HTC Sense (HTC Hero) widgets in-depth review
Hope this helps. I know that before buying the HTC Hero, i was searching everywhere to see how many calendar widgets are available and how they work, but couldn't find this information in any review on the big sites. Therefore i went the whole way now, and reviewed each widget and widget layout on my blog, so anybody can see in detail what the HTC Sense widgets really are.
Makes an interesting read.
Keep it coming.
Thanks,
Zuber
Hi guys,
i published a Palm Pre hardware review and compared it to my HTC Hero.
Hope this is interesting for you:
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2009/11/review-palm-pre-hardware-impressions/
Next part will be about Android vs. WebOS.
Screenshot Gallery of WebOS:

Palm managed to create a really stylish UI. And the usability is also very good. Review will follow soon, but if you are interested take a look at my WebOS picture Gallery.

shahpur
Now my WebOS in-depth review is published too:
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2009/11/review-palm-pre-webos/
I'm comparing many features to Android and especially with the HTC Hero (Browser, general OS Speed and so on).
Hope you'll like the article.
Please leave a comment on my blog, if you have anything to add to the review
bye,
shahpur
It's now more than 6 months ago when i switched from Windows Mobile to Android, and therefore i wrote down some of my experiences comparing both OS and the migration from WM to Android.
A longterm Windows Mobile user switching to Android Part 6: OS comparison and roundup
Maybe this will help some people decide if they should try out Android.

[Q] HTC facebook common complaint in Spain

We have made our views on non-update and release of the tattoo on the official website of HTC facebook Spain.
We wish to express our displeasure and warn people who purchase a HTC of abandonment that we are going to release the necessary files.
For an update of the tattoo:
Spain http://www.facebook.com/htces
General http://www.facebook.com/HTC
byes
not development related moved to general
HTC Spain page in Facebook is now totally crowded of comments about tattoo! I think is a really good idea to catch the attention of HTC!!! It's not good publicity for a brand like HTC to have so many disgusted costumers...so maybe...eventually...they'll do something with our tattoos!
Let's do the same in the Facebook page of HTC International!!! Let's make everybody know about our petition for tattoo!!
Go, go, go! --> http://www.facebook.com/HTC
Someone already started bashing them http://www.facebook.com/HTC?v=wall .

Possible Valuable Help

Hello! I've come in contact with Greg Kumparak who wrote this arictle. I sent him the following email:
Hey Greg!
First off, i wanted to say after joining twitter just minutes ago, I was scrolling through your tweets and found them very funny and helpful.
Next, I was reading an article you wrote involving conflipper and the Microsoft Kin. To jog your memory, the Kin is the disaster phone Microsoft intended to market for teens. I have also been fairly active in a group at XDA Developers attempting to crack the Kin Two phone now sold by Verizon. There have been significant advances toward the ability to write and edit files on the phone itself. I'm sure you'll find our endeavorvery interesting and I'd be happy to explain all the details. In a nutshell: the phone is more secure normal phones, runs off a form of Win7Mobile, is sold as a "feature phone", and, without a doubt, has potential to rival smart phones. Of course, since the phone uses WiFi, these abilities (one could say, smartphone-like) do not require a data package. If thats not bang for the buck, I don't know what is.
Anyway, I'd like to know If you think the story of this phone and its ability to have apps is worth writing an article on. Some pretty exciting things are going on with the device, currently there is a facebook group getting in contact with Personal Communications Devices (company) and a group of HTML experts writing our free version of Microsoft old cloud system for the kin, kin.com.
If you dont think this article can make it, I understand. Either way, however, I was hoping you could give me an email address for conflipper because I'd like to shoot him an email asking about what he found in the kin ROMs and how he got in.
Thanks for you'r time, I'm sure your a busy man,
(My Name Here)
He replied minutes later by saying something alone the lines of "I'm interesting and want more details" (I dont want to quote him w/o permission). He also informed me that conflipper is retired and his old site is here. I would like to set up a skype/phone chat with Greg for the mutual benefit of us both. In his favor, he is interested and would possibly like to write an article about our homebrews. To the benefit of us, I'm sure he has many contacts and a published article could attract the attention we need.
I would like a few key people to be on the line with Greg in order to present all aspects of the Kin-Hacking World. Don't hesitate to mention anything I should be presenting to him. If you feel you should be included in the phonecall/skype please state why. I would like JohnKussack to be there also. EDIT: I plan to show him the concept document the dev group (from the facebook group) has on google docs.
Feel free to comment/leave your opinion.

Donating to Homebrew pioneers

All,
Since today's announcement of the WP8 features, I immediately began to think of the homebrew community. I think we should start a funding for the homebrew pioneers so that they can get a WP8 device to test with.
What does everyone think of this?

Hi there,
Before any donations are given, clear objectives need to be set with approximate timescales, This way clear expectations are set up and there's not room for donators to say things like "You got the device already 5 minutes ago, why isn't it hacked yet????????"
Below are some guidelines for consideration in how the thread is constructed and managed, this is not conclusive but for guidance
The developer needs to be made aware, approve of the action, and post in the thread (preferably post 1 or 2 so that it's clearly visible) his paypal/other account for accepting donations, the account info should NOT be posted by someone who is not the developer (unless it links directly to a post by the developer containing the same info, with some text like "this is the donation info, check <link to post>post xxxx by developer</link to post> for more info") - this way there's no question of authenticity and where the donations are going.
In the same post as above, the developer should detail his intentions once the device/software/product/etc is obtained, and if possible a rough timeline
The developer should have at least one or two major contributions to the community under his belt before any large donation thread is made.
There should be a clear statement from the developer and/or the thread starter that there is absolutely NO obligation on the developers part to release a final product. Although this is what everyone wants, the entire reason for a donation drive in the first place is because it's not the easiest thing in the world to do. This means it may not even be possible in the long run. There's a great potential for hurt feelings and "bad juju" if people donate with the expectation that a final product WILL 100% be released. Donations should be seen as support towards a best-effort on the part of the developer.
it is obviously early days in the world of wp8 development but with the looming release of wp8 and the new devices it will bring, exciting times lay ahead.
Please do not post in this thread unless it is specifically development related and any questions regarding the content/structure of this thread should be made via pm to me or any other senior moderator.
Greetz.
Edit: this thread will be occasionally cleaned of all off topic chat, don't be offended if your post disappears
In my Opinio we should "all" Focus one Phone.
Like the legendary HD2 is used by the most people here (i guess), which provides the most costumization depending on rom's etc.
I think a Phone like the HTC Zenith would be a nice follower of the HD2

Hi,

Not me. It depends where you are and what devices and accessories you have.
anyone can join HTC Preview , https://preview.htc.com
and no i didnt get any top secret stuff from HTC , nor i could tell if i did
I don't imagine that most people who use this site will be eligible:
Before getting started, these are a few things to be aware of:

You must complete the user profile page.
[*]You must not have rooted or otherwise hacked your phone.
You must not be participating in any other mobile device Beta testing program.
You must agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Statement and the HTC Trial Program Agreement.

Majority of people who come are here are looking to at least root their device. Also can't help but wonder if achieving S-OFF is included in the definition of "hacked" our phone.
