Okay so I see people on here are getting into twitter. So don't know if someone wants to create a new twitter profile who can update news on the hero. I for one would be a follower. Oh and if your not into twitter try it out it's the new facebook.
so no one wants to do this? (sorry for the bump)
How about you doing it?
True but I don't have the time and I also don’t know enough tech stuff. I was thinking that a few trusted peeps could have the password and then it would be so demanding on one person.
Anyway I have set up two accounts one for general stuff and one for the hero. Have a look. Don’t forget to follow as when the updates start coming you will miss out.
Also don’t worry if you don’t have a twitter account you can still view the micro blog via these links
General info: www.twitter.com/xda_developers
Hero info www.twitter.com/xda_dev_hero
BTW sorry about the logo's
I for one would be up for helping update the xda_dev_hero account. Recieved my white Hero on Thursday, and having been a G1 user before I feel pretty familiar with the OS at this point. Wouldn't want to be solely responsible for it, but if others think it would be useful we could certainly get something going...
Good good anyone else up for it?
Ive been doing small updates on Twitter from the hero. I have also been posting pics on Twitter from my other phone. I may post a YouTube soon. Anyway, its richrasp on Twitter if anyone why's to follow.
I have made the code to keep the Twitter automatically up-to-date reading xda-rss and posting the info to twitter. The idea can be adapted to forum threats if needed. If anyone have a threat and want to follow it (like general, dev&hack.. ), just let me know to work on it.
-Thanks to robboy for the password-

And where to write them now, that their filessytem is bad, and thy should use another one? like ext2/4
i think this is why you posted it here, cause we were talking about an official letter by xda, about what we found out etc.
and you said its better to contact them via facebook.
so any idea how to start something big, that they notice, they have to change the FS and fix gps and all other problems?
the way we did it last time to get the 3 button fix, is simply by everyone posting into the wall about the problem
the more people that post the better
so everyone needs to join in to comment on the problem about the lag, so that they can fix it
Thank you for these links. Very nice organised list!
thank you for sharing these infos,i just sent a e-mail to the samsung, through facebook i think is a better way to contact with them.
It's a good list....... and I thank you for your efforts in trying to build a forward list of users wishing to express their opinions.
Unfortunately Facebook (or any other portal for obtaining information) does not interest Samsung.
I and many others have already posted on Facebook and not once has Samsung come back.
An example being in the past week quite a few have posted asking for a Froyo update..... When Samsung finally came back (and it was just the once) they spouted off about a competition. They totally dismissed any of the pleas and have not been heard of since.
I've also tried on Twitter which according to the UK P.R. Manager for Samsung is the media of choice.
Again, NOTHING!
I still think direct communication and getting the news to tech sites (Engadget, Phandroid ect) could be much more effective.
You really expect the engineers are Samsung to browse Facebook and read the loads of crap that their pages get flooded with? Professionals have better things to do with their time.
Direct communication can get through to high ranking people and developers, seeing news about their software screw-ups on major websites will encourage them to act.

That is also my opinion.
Again I commend AllGamer in trying to inject enthusiasm into this issue but I personally have found the direct line of approach to be more rewarding...... even if it still does not bear fruit at this stage.

Sales people and Marketing team cares about Image, and when you pressure the sales team, they will get into action.
I've been through many large companies, the companies runs based on the feedback from Sales/Marketing team
It doesn't matter what was the big picture the Development Team had in their plans, all that will go up in smoke the moment the Sales Team announce another "feature" or "new product" even though it wasn't even on the original road map, the Developers will have to do a full 180 to go and work on the new stuff the Sales people are selling, even though it's all vaporware.
the GPS issue we know they are working on it already, although they never officially admitted it
We did it with the 3 button SPL fix, and we got results, we can do it again with the Lag issue as well.
The reason it worked is because everyone chirped in, when you do it on your own, or with just a few people, it wont work, you need the support of the masses.
As long as everyone pitch in and give them the same message they'll have to acknowledge it
Good points. It's not impossible to take both approaches of course.
Cheers for this. Almost worth signing up to Facebook again - almost. As someone else has said, at least in the UK, Samsung's preferred social media site is Twitter. And if you look through tweets mentioning @samsungukmobile, all you'll see is lots of people being ignored. By all means give it a try, but personally, I'd recommend not putting all of one's eggs in one basket, so to speak. Instead bombard them through all available communication channels - e-mail, Twitter and Facebook. And wherever else you can think of...

You are correct about Sales and Marketing.
A large Multi-National company was evaluating a product I developed under an exclusive option.
R&D loved it and had all kinds of plans for it.
Sales and Marketing didn't know what to do with it.
At the end of the option period it was dropped.
Head of R&D resigned in reaction to the decision.
In the end, Sales and Marketing rule.

That was me.... On that, Samsung have not posted on that page since the 20th Sep but what is worse is I have replied sending two tweets and not one has shown up on their twitter page.
Have a go.... post a message to @samsungukmobile and I bet your message does not show up on their page.
Now I know why it is their page of preference..... Tweets are being deleted.
this is why we need an organized effort to post on their walls, tweets, emails from all fronts
Their sales/marketing people can't spend a whole week deleting messages from their accounts

Yup. Been there, done that, still waiting for a response. They're not deleting tweets btw, as they're only being mentioned so don't have the power. Instead, they're just ignoring them, because they're wankers.
that's the difference with Facebook, they can't just ignore it
and if they Delete it from facebook, then you know they did read it but did not want to touch that topic
yet if they leave it on their facebook page, they will get criticized if they don't answer it

After a few post about the problem Samsung Canada replied that they are looking into to the issue.. they even asked for more info from some users.... about 1 week later Samsung Canada updated us saying they found the problem and would be release a fix soon.. a few days later the update was released. and they even thank some people for bringing the issue forward to them.

Bear in mind that, just because something works for one national arm of the company, it doesn't mean that it will always work for others...
HTC HD2 has a fan page set up on facebook. The page is actively monitored/moderated by htc personnel who use fake facebook ids. This is apparent from the fact that any comments, questions or concerns that people have about rom upgrades, android, wp7 on hd2 are responded with harshly and abusively.
Facebook is the medium of choice for almost everybody, so why should htc be any different? I however find it very offensive that there are people there acting like experts or moderators, but their only feedback to the page is attacks on any member who joins that page and suggests/states/recommends anything other than Winmo 6.5 stock from htc or t-mobile.
What a shame.
fk facebook. seriously. stuff for attention whores. it's hilarious that even companys have 'pages' there.
Hello XDA members,
So you all know that our phone that is the Samsung Galaxy 3 came with Android 2.1 aka Eclair and Samsung promised to give an upgrade to 2.2 aka Froyo. The Samsung has fulfilled its promise of Froyo upgrade and now I think the Samsung will never look back to our Galaxy 3. Our phone has already been of an old generation of Galaxy 3 but still it features almost equally attractive features when compared to other low end Galaxy Series phones like Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Pop, infact its better certainly. But now there is no scope of getting an Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread upgrade on our Galaxy whereas similar phones like Fit are expected to receive it soon. Here on XDA also Marcellusbe tried to port CM7 with 2.3.4, he released Alpha 5 Fix 1 and since then he stopped the Development for CM6 port which he thinks would help in CM7. Looking at current conditions we cant even hope of Unofficial CM7 i.e. 2.3.4 by the end of a year or so.There is very slim chance of even getting it because it is difficult for Marcellusbe to work alone. These kinds of project involves a big team.
The Group GINGERBRDFORG3 is formed with the aim to gather support of other Galaxy 3 users to convince Samsung to give an official upgrade to Galaxy 3. Samsung cannot neglect the demands of thousands of its customer. Just think there are lots of Galaxy 3 members, If we all together will request Samsung I am pretty sure that Samsung will release a upgrade. If it can run on Fit it would easily run on Galaxy 3. Our phone has a huge market. If Samsung releases an upgrade to 2.3 and increases the life cycle of Galaxy 3 there will be no harm only a Win-Win situation for both Samsung and us.
Just think on it twice. I know if all of you will support we will soon be able to convince Samsung. To do so just be a part of GINGERBRDFORG3, sign the petitions, tweet on official twitter handle and recommend friends. Its free, simple and can be done in seconds. If all of you give just 15 minutes to this group we can work out wonders.

First request to Samsung has been posted via Twitter and Facebook. Stay connected to know more.
If this is going to work thenI want to support it but I'm almost 100% sure that this wont.
if you gather enough people this will work, but you will need around 40,000-50,000 people
htc decided to develop GB for the desire as well by demand of the community, but they were a hell lot of people...
what you need is some sort of a petition site where people can sign the claim of gingerbread for the galaxy 3 and then you need enough people to sign it.
Yes dude thats from where I draw inspiration - The Case Of HTC Desire. We can do everything, we have everything.. We can form faceook pages, we can form twitter accounts we can use petition sites which are available but What we lack is Supporters. Even after such a long request no one has come up to support. Though the thread has 45 views only including you only 2 people replied without much enthusiasm? Can anyone help to gather people here im 99.99% sure that we can do this..
The same thing happened with sony ericsson xperia x10 where due to huge demand sony decided to give gingerbread .thumbs up I am supporting this.
If you support this Kindly use the links to Sign the Petitons and also follow the official twitter account and post messages so that samsung can see that we really want 2.3.. Also suggest your friends and family.. Please. Its a request.

I agree! Signed!!
agree
First I read "do not overclock"..... what has it to do with gingerbread?
just signed the partition
But i have my doubts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16236183&postcount=2
Signed both........
maybe you should post the links in the official CM7 forum, samsung forum and on every forum you find on the topic to get some more people.
there's a facebook page for gingerbread for the G3 but it only has some hundred followers.
maybe you get some blogs or news sites to post it in a news as well...
you have to do evereything to promote them, otherwise you won't have chance to get enough people.
and you should only use one petition, to concentrate the amount of people.
if you have two petitions, some people will only sign one of them, which will degrade the total number you get.
Go!! 2.3 Go!!
I have signed the 1st petition Lets make a Riot..

Absolutely I will post everywhere after some time.. And also for posting all around the INTERNET FORUMS I should gather a support here on XDA.. The topic has been raised today only. I have already created an official twitter account and soon facebook page is also expected. This is a whole new project so I wont keep any connection with that old facebook page. Yes, thanks for the Suggestion I will remove petition 2's link. .. PM me if you have more suggestion.
Signed 1st petition, hope it will work.
I have removed petition 1ST. Those who signed only the 1st petition are requested to visit the link to petition and sign it again. Those who signed the 2nd petition no need to revisit because the current petition is what you had in 2nd petition previously. I deleted 1st one because it was having only 18 signs as compared to 23 in 2nd one. Now we have one petition only so more focus is given on it.
signed!!!!

Signed and told friends

lets hope samsung will be kind for all the galaxy 3 lovers/owners and give it a try
Thank you to all who have signed and recommended to friends till now. We want more members.
Hi all,
I thought I would try and start a place for only the US Dev Edition unit where we could house the reponses and issues with updates, delays, etc...
I hope this makes sense and is useful. If not, then if one of the moderators could remove it, please....
I will start by offering the respone I just received from HTC regarding my question around why they could launch the Google Edition with 4.2.2. but still leave the US waiting for the update on the Developers Edition.
I thought buying a "clean" device, paying top dollar, direclty from HTC, with no Carrier involvment would mean timely updates?
I encourage others to post any information about this update or any future ones for this device!
Thank you for contacting the HTC Technical Support Center
We understand how you may be feeling regarding the update process to Jelly Bean 4.2 for the HTC One and we deeply apologize for the delay on this process. We sincerely work hard always on the updates for our customers, since we understand it is important for all of you to have the latest Android OS Versions.
We are always looking forward to develop updates that enhance your HTC experience. Due to the nature of the software development cycle, we may encounter the need to make some changes to ensure everything will work flawlessly, which is why we no longer engage to announce release dates.
We are currently running some tests to make sure the HTC One will function properly with 4.2, so we encourage you to check constantly on our website for further details about the release date. You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter, where you can easily find the news of our products and also you can share all your concerns with our fans.
We sincerely expect your comprehension on this matter. Thanks for your continuous support of our products and services. I am the in the exact same situation, spent 649 dollars on the HTC One 64 gb. Developer Edition. This
was supposed to be the phone to receive the updates first. I am still sitting here with 4.12 and checking
software updates 20 times a day. Very frustrating to say the least!

I agree and I have seen the other posts so I know the Update is slowly being rolled out overseas to the International Versions, but the Google Edition That has 4.2.2 is for sale in the US, so they should have given it to the owners fo the Developers Edition in the US. I will post any additonal information/alerts about any updates in other countries as soon as i hear about it. Thanks for commenting !

Thanks!
One of the things I was hoping to accomplish was to get as many people as possible to send in thier message to; http://www.htcdev.com/...
so that HTC would see the number of frustrated customers. I know that every corporation tracks incoming messages by Subject matter and they review the topics on a regular basis. May not change anything now but there is power in numbers! HTC could use as much positive press as possible right now anyway!
4.2.2 for the us versions will be here within the next few weeks. You will get the update before the carriers at least.
Im sure everyone knows the international for mostly all phones get it first before the united states.
To CC999: (Sorry I replied to the wrong post and got wrong quote)
You aren't alone. I share your sentiment. Could have easily gotten the El Cheapo from ATT but chose to pony up for the DE and now being treated like a guy with the ATT version *shrug*. It makes me feel like these companies like HTC aren't even in tune with the silly little things that potentially keep Android fans happy and loyal...like....timely updates to as recent an OS version as possible??!! About two weeks ago I rooted and flashed Viper One. And Fell in love with my phone all over again. But it's missing the lock screen widget, the instagram blinkfeed and the immediately sharable screenshots...which i actually really miss from my Nexus 4. Also, I desperately need my Zoes to stop saving 2000 still pics with each day out at the park. Sigh. What can ya do....

You should post this to reddit, I've sent in my email to HTC addressing my concerns with their update process as well, pretty sure I'll get the same bullsh*t message back from them.

I got a slightly different response:
Thank you for reaching the HTC Tech Support Team with your inquiry, I’m here to make sure all your questions and doubts are cleared.
I comprehend where you're coming from, as I been there before; I certainly know that now days is vital to be up to date when it comes to remain connected/communicated, basically because it is high priority to have a reliable device, nevertheless, as of now, all of the updates are only pushed when the stability of the devices is guaranteed, therefore, it has to be under constant analysis, trials & rewrites among others; only when it has reached nearest point of perfection, which is at our development team's discretion, it's when is send out or pushed to specific devices (such as your HTC One), once again I do acknowledge and understand your perspective on this matter, which is why we greatly appreciate the understanding and patience on this subject.
If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at http://www.htc.com/us/contact/email/, I’m here to make sure all your questions are addressed in the most efficient way, or if you prefer real time assistance you can reach our customer service line at +1-866-449-8358, 8 am to 1 am ET, 7 days a week.
Thank you for choosing HTC.
If you think about it, HTC was pretty upfront about what they think of US developer editions; our cids start with BS, you should've known that htc would BS about the updates and that the developer edition being special.

Thanks for e-mailing HTC and posting the differenet response....Well at least we know they are not total robots and they can respond in thier own words! Even though they continue to avoid the issue of the Google Edition haivng 4.2.2. as the Dev Edition and the Google Edition are not that different (except Sense and maybe an extra radio?)...still good to keep some pressure on them,
HTC doesn't care much about the pressure that comes from XDA, but get this on the front page of Reddit and the update will be out tomorrow lol.

I am the in the exact same situation, spent 649 dollars on the HTC One 64 gb. Developer Edition. This
was supposed to be the phone to receive the updates first. I am still sitting here with 4.12 and checking
software updates 20 times a day. Very frustrating to say the least!

I'm also frustrated about all of this, but you are making assumptions that are untrue.
Where did you ever hear HTC claim that "This was supposed to be the phone to receive the updates first"? I'm pretty sure the announced purpose of this phone is to be the untouched edition with the bootloader unlockable out of the box, with no possibility for carrier restrictions.
Nowhere did I ever read HTC claim that it would be the first to receive updates, and that's a silly assumption to make. It's a niche version of the phone - sure it's popular here on XDA, but it's a very small drop in the ocean - and I would expect the other versions to receive priority on updates.
At the end of the day, HTC is still a business and they're going to prioritise updates to the versions of the phone that have the largest user base.
Will play around with Reddit tomorrow and see how to go about this. Thanks for the Post...

Good luck.
I honestly think its bullcrap that they won't release it stateside yet. We had ROMs with 4.2.2 firmware over a month ago and even when they updated WWE units to newer 4.1.2 versions the dev edition didn't get it for weeks.
I'm optimistic but I'd say probably somewhere closer to a week.
I'm 100% sure that the dev edit would get the update after the standard htc one USA unlocked version. Watch!
I don't see any benefits of a dev edit htc one. It's not even s off
In the mean time I keep hitting check for update. I know we close.
