If i could get another magic (that wasn't bricked) - maybe a broken one or something - could I take the insides (PCBs) from that one and put it into mine (mine's bricked beyond repair)?? This is assuming I could find another 32A magic...
Thanks,
Calimero,
P.S. if this is a really stupid question, then please just say - I at least want some sort of answer....
Yes..
If you find one with a broken screen.. then you can exchange boards!

Dear Forum Users,
fist of all sorry for the fact that my first post is a request, a question and not a contribution - but im really dependent on your knowledge.
Despite the fact that in general it is not recommended to change the cover of your mda (or xda etc) I did it, and seem to have f***** up my display. The device itself is working just fine, i can do active sync, the taping also works (when i switch it off and guess where the yes button from "do you really want to turn off your device" is it actually shuts down properly). the thing is that i dont see anything, its just plain white.

when dissecting the unit i disconnected the connector from the display to mainboard in order to unmount everything (unfortunately i discovered afterwards that i could also have done it without connecting - dumb philipp :/ , but right now that doesnt change anything for me)
has someone dealt with a problem like mine before? i would be really thankful for any hints or advices to get my baby back to life, otherwise my old vk2000 will be my companion for the next 6 months (i shiver when i just think of it).
thank you in advance,
Philipp
Have you tried to disassembled, and than reassembled it again?
some times the display flat cable, isnt fuly inside the connector...
there is a possibility that you f*** up the connector, but for determine that we need a macro picture of it.
yes i messed with the connector indeed, but as the pins of the strip were down i thought the black piece wont be of that much importance (i can remember i ****ed one up at a regular mobile yrs ago and it was still working)
can i get that thing back to life if i try to squeeze the 2 black parts (formerly one piece) back in or do you say its over?
thank you for your quick reply btw, i appreciate!

That is not good. i dont think you can do anything but send it to repair. maybe they can replace the connector.
ok, i will call them and check how much it is and if it is even worth having it repaired... if not, then i have a defective compact for sale :/
shayd, thank you!

No problem at all
this guy has a bricked Charmer. Probably you can talk to him and see if he is willing you sell you the charmer as parts.
hi,
i´ve got a problem with my xda nova. while the device is turned on i see just a white screen with a line of black pixels on my display:
i tried to use the device without the lcd and i think the touchscreen works and also the camera stored pictures on my micro-sd.
after that i did an hard-reset but the display still doesn´t work . now i can just listen to the strange htc sound when it boots and i think it stops there when you have to calibrate the touchscreen - very nice, when you can´t see anything
hope you can help me
sorry for my english, i´m german
If you have any warranty - Take it in to be fixed. Otherwise you are going to have to buy a new screen youself and possibly digitizer as it may also be broken and replace these parts yourself.
This link is a guide you should read on dissasembly of the device, step by step. Good luck

so you think too the lcd is damaged, not the other hardware?
i don´t know if i get warranty, because its not the original rom on it. replacing the display looks pretty easy.

There is no way for me or anyone else to know whether there is any other hardware damaged just by looking at a picture of what looks like a broken LCD. The only way you will know is by changing the LCD to find out. You may find that the Digitizer is broken as well - So you might want to make sure you get one of these as well - I don't think that they are very expensive (from what I have read) You can even look into buying a bricked device off someone for cheap to use as spare parts in case anything else breaks.
Yeah the guide I provided a link for is pretty clear and makes it look pretty easy doesn't it. Thanks to that guide I would not be too afraid to take my device appart to make repairs / replace parts myself if I ever need to.
thank you!
i will order one from china
well i looked online saw it could be dirty touch screen.. but could it be a bad keypad? i have two phones like this a tmobile wing and a cingular 8125.. very weird and very much appreciate this forum and users.. have high hopes i can pinpoint the problem and replace keypad or lcd if needed (my first wing was bought with a broken screen and i replaced it and works great)

my phone has an orientation problem and htc wouldn't repair the phone as they said the warranty labels where removed, which was a complete lie as i found them intact as soon as i opened the phone. any way this is me trying to fix it. sorry for the bad quality and the phone being out of camera much. is my first time ever doing a disassembly vid.
not to spoil the video but i didnt correct the problem so if you have any ideas give us a shout cheers.

no idea how to fix it my self, but have you checked the service manual that is in the wiki?
might give you an idea of what switches you would need to have a look at, maybe?
Dude,
You said some trouble getting the frame apart. Im always afraid I'm going break something.
By the way. Im a HUGE fan of Me First and The Gimme Gimmes. Nice video.
i would suggest that you find the DREADIAG.nbh file on xda(the link is here somewhere) or send me a PM with your email and i'll send it to you in an email. the Diag image has a tool that is supposed to calibrate teh G-sensor which i would assume is what is wrong with your phone. i had this problem a few weeks ago and t-mo sent me a "new" phone. i tried the DREADIAG.nbh but it didn't seem to work for me, lay the phone down on it's back and run the diagnostic.
Hey special people those using the lovely phone called 'Wildfire'
Have someone tried replacing original case with a dummy phone's case? Can you part the dummy? Are the dummy's case and real phones case is in the same size? Is it possible? If it's possible it would be great.
I wanted a white one but the seller only had the gray one so this would be a chance to get my dream-phone
If someone tries this please post it here Thanks.
What's a dummy phone?
A dummy phone is a display-only version of a real phone. They don't work and you can't make them work (some people believes that you can ) They have no chips, cards, electrical system...
You can find one here.
uhm, this could be intresting. have you tried asking the seller?
I haven't because I thought he doesn't have information about this but after saw your post I asked. Now waiting for answer
Just got the answer. He said that we can't. So bad
if you want to put a white back on try htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=202429
It doesn't look like white to me
