Hello everyone.
I am pretty sure I am the 100th one to ask this, but after seeking on the forum for a long time and tried everything I swear, I wasn't able to root my Galaxy S GT-I9000.
As I said it is a GT-I9000 (I9000BUJP5?) with firmware 2.2, Compilation FROYO.BUJP2
My intention is to patch the phone and quit that lag issue to gain a little speed, so it needs to be rooted first.
Everytime I tried to do whatever is shown in this forum or in any simmilar or internet tutorial I get the 'E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted.'
Somebody to show me the way?
Have you tried z4root?

I find z4root easier to use but it doesn't with all firmwares. Try superoneclick.
Z4root did it. Thank you very much fine gentlemen. It seems they do have updated the Z4root and works perfectly on my version.
Again thanks.

I had a stock 2.1 Epic rooted with Z4. Manually upgraded to 2.21 effortlessly, all works well.
Tried rerooting with Z4 multiple times and it would not work. I removed Z4 from my Epic.
How can I reroot? The good news it Titanium is still freezing the apps I previously had frozen. However, I have no way to add freeze or unfreeze.
Thanks,
Todd
If z4root don't work just use the one click root with clock work. Its easy and straight forward

Thanks I found the problem I had the old Odin version and then I used the update that had root and recovery built it worked fine after that. I was wondering if you knew of anywhere I could find a kernal that allows overclocking and or has a 600 mhz step in it?
If your going to flash a froyo rom, there are no kernels yet. If your going to start on a 2.1 rom then thee are a few god ones around like the phoenix kernel, the extreme kernel and numerous others that allow over clocking and under clocking. Check the epic development threads for the 2.1 roms and they have the links to kernels there.

Same here, Id rather have an instructional video instead. Because this one click root is not working. I'm wasting too much time already trying to root.
OneClickRoot with Superuser for EPIC w/Froyo
I have a link for a oneclickroot for the epic running froyo without getting a cannot or willnot or failed because of Read Only. Unfortunately because I am a newbie it says I have to post 8 posts before posting an outside link. I uploaded it to my personal website which I use to advertise dogs that I sell. If you want PM me and I will give you the link to grab it off of my site.

I keep looking and browsing the web for information about rooting the streak but so far i've only manage to find one for 1.6 or 2.1. Does anybody know if the superboot works on froyo and if theres a recovery image yet just in case? My phone came unlocked with froyo pre-installed and has a 12*** something version. I apologize if this has been ask before or if im in the wrong sub-forum. Thank you

Search google for universal androot 1.6.2 beta. Worked for me. You may have to press root my phone more than once because it doesnt always do iton first try. If you cant find it then pm me and ill email it to u
Found z4root apk and works perfectly. Rooted froyo and now looking for some decent rom. thanks for the tips y'all

i think z4root is better than universal androot since it installs busybox and does it quite well, it also works on alot more devices. besides that, they are pretty much the same, rooting tools. use what you like that works. seems like things like z4root, androot, busybox, and superuser where all taken off the market just before gingerbread came out.
One thing that keeps bothering me when people work out / find a solution . . . they don't post what they did, where they found the program / software / driver !! or what they did to fix the issue.
SHARE, z4root is off the market, so where did you locate the download ?
z4root isn't working with the latest OTA update build 318. Niether does universal androot.
Superoneclick will root 318 search xda for the link

I used SuperOneClick. However, I'm still on the "stock" 305 version. I never upgraded. SuperOneClick worked just fine to root.
Hey everyone,
I flashed my SGS i9000m to 2.2 JK4 through using Kie last night. When I tried to use z4root to root the phone temporarily, the application crashed (no damage to the phone, since i can factory reset and wipe). However, from my understanding this app will work on 99% of the phone. So I'm curious and see if any other Bell who upgrade to JK4 have similar problem.
oh, another problem. I dont know why my clock on my SMS is screwed up. Like if you sent me a sms right now, the phone would display it was sent 6 hours ago. anyone know how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance everyone.

It has been said that z4root is not working on the jk4 firmware. RyanZA should be made aware of this.
As for your issue with texts and the timestamp... Are you using Bell or are you unlocked on a different provider?
If your not on Bell you need to install an app from the market that will fix this for you but im not sure what its called...

Thanks yiannisthegreek,
Yea. now i am pretty sure Z4root doesn't work on Jk4. So, so for those who wants to root their phone by Z4root, just wait until RyanZA comes out with a newer update.
and yea, im using FIDO at the moment. Anyone know what is the app for fixing timestamp called ?
sms time fix
z4root isn't working but I was wondering if installing busybox through titanium backup app would unroot the phone. I was able to restore my applications through titanium backup after installing busybox and restoring app does require a root so.... does it count as an unroot?
I'm with bell and z4root with 2.2 JK4 does not work for me either. Crashes after second screen and leaves device in unstable state. However, just rebooting phone is enough. (no factory reset needed).
z4root, JK4
Same here, Bell Vibrant, z4root does not work with JK4 (reboot and phone is OK).

Very unlikely.... It is no worse than installing some applications, mostly command-line tools (su, busybox).
This method was so quick and easy. Thanks for the suggestion guys/gals.
Apologies if there are similar threads.
I am looking for an 'easy way' to root my GALAXY Tab. I have used the android z4root application but it didn't successfully root my device and just hung for a while and did nothing.
I would like to know if there is another way to root the device. I want to have root so that I can slightly overclock the CPU, for now I am not majorly interested in custom ROMS as I know there still in early stages of development.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks peeps!
Same here. Z4root crashes on my device with latest firmware
I installed the tools with OCLF one click lag fix then ran z4root. You can also install busy box with Titanium before you get root.

Thanks, but is there no tutorial on XDA that explains in detail how you can go about rooting your device. I've not be able to find anything with the search tool...?
With z4root being so easy and available on so many devices, alot of the tutorials with adb push (or what ever) or how to manually root have disappeared with few exceptions. Now it seems people find work arounds to Get z4root to work as the alternative is more difficult. It took a very long time to root on my SGT. On my DroidX it took three times to work and root.
And to the poster above about OCLF. I did the Install ext2Tools. The OneClickLagFixv2.2+ became available. When I run the OCLF 2.2+ I get an error with code: Could not mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 onto /dbdata/rfsdata: mount: device or resource Busy.
I rooted with z4root first and then VZW Tab bootstraper by Koush CWM which converted to EXT4, then I ran OCLF EXT2Tools. Would this be an issue? Sorry I'm a bit new to SGT.
And I don't mean to hijack thread. Tia

Thankyou! Found it in the reference Bible. That is a very nice sticky and should keep me busy.

Hello,
I have same problem as you. I can not root my I9000 via Software like SuperRoor, OneClick Root ..etc
So I have root my phone via odin. It's very safe. Just follow the steps perfectly to root it without crack your mobile.
Let me know the android version of your mobile OR you can search in goole.com for that like "Root Galaxy S Odin 2.3.3"
THankyou all for adivce, hope it works
