Does anyone know where I can get a cheap replacement screen?
Or is anyone selling one on here?

I would even buy a bricked phone for the screen. Anyone?

Only thing I found is here
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Samsung-T959-LCD-Digitizer-p/smsng6085995.htm
and it's $125.
Try ebay as well, last time I was looking for accessories I noticed the screens. I believe they were around $69.00 or $79.00
So it's just the top glass that I'm looking for, is that the digitizer screen? Or is it called something else?

The digitizer and glass are fused together on the Vibrant. That is how they are so light because they don't need the double glass.
Sweet, I found some on ebay for like $27.

the only way to get a super AMOLED screen replacement is through samsung. samsung does not distribute their super amoled screen to 3rd parties. all other screen replacement you may find will just be regular LCD

Yeah, the AMOLED screen are alot, luckily what broke on mine was the top glass, or what I was told is just the digitizer.

Gl on trying to get the screen and digitizer separated
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
How hard is it? Do I need some special tools?
Sent from Samsung Vibrant rooted with Nero V5
I don't think the glass can be separated from the screen..
If you problem is "I cracked the glass but the phone still works" you still need new glass and digitizer, which are fused together. Samsung is the only place to get the Super AMOLED screen replaced and it costs $160 for them to fix it.
But if I just need the digitizer I've seen them on ebay, I can still do everything fine so I shouldn't need the AMOLED screen.

Isn't that what I would need?

Another time, the glass, amoled, and digitilizer are super glued together into one very solid unit. You cannot remove the digitilizer without tearing the amoled, so you might as well buy the whole screen. No exception.
Damn, there goes my cheap fix. Sorry if I was being stubborn, I guess I wasn't thinking clearly.

I read somewhere that it was (wish I could remember where but I'm pretty sure it was a major blog). Either way, I am a daredevil and risked my phone by scratching the hell out of it with my keys and it looks perfect (I still don't recommend it but I'm sending mine back to T-Mobile for another reason so I figured I'd risk it). It feels at least as good as the N1 screen. No screen protector here.
It is definitely glass.
So if its glass, no need for screen protector

Get a screen protector there is no documentation stating there is gorilla glass. Better to be safe then sorry.
Confirm or deny?
So... can anyone confirm this or deny it? I saw a review on TmoNews that said it did, but, have yet to see anyone else say it does. Not sure I believed the guy seemed like crackhead lol
had T-mo rep and htc rep say NO GORILLA GLASS...
corning (mfg of GG) makes no mention whatsoever of ANY HTC devices with GG
it is a very durable glass like surface, and i have yet to use a protector but afaik no GG
So our screen is plastic?

I looked up corning too.. when the vibrant came out and the galaxy s was not listed because at the bottom of the page it says some products not listed because the manufactures chose not to do so. And i was at the Samsung Vibrant launch in Philly where Samsung told us it was in fact GG

What do you guys do with your phones that gorilla glass is such a must-have? I have had my mt3g 1.0 for a year and there's not a scratch on it. If you treat it like it's an expensive piece of electronic hardware, it'll probably fare well. It ain't a frisbee.
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/featured-products
I don't remember how, but yesterday the phone's screen got a really deep scratch. **** is deep, my fingernail gets caught in it. Also there are small light scratches also if you hold it up to sunlight or any light and look close.
Alright maybe this does or doesn't but its always worth inputting your two cents, right?
Remember there were or are TWO different types of screens the good display from China and the bad from elsewhere.
Maybe, maybe! The good display has GG while the bad display has cheap glass?

Nope? I have the type 2 screen (good) and I still got light scratches and the big deep one. It's annoying me enough so I placed an order for a replacement. And this time, deff using a screen protector, or not. At least until I get the Senstation.

I dropped my epic on tile, and the glass cracked. Touch Screen seems fine, and the LCD itself is okay too.
Most parts places seem to sell the glass and LCD/Digitizer as a package (for $80-$120), but I've found a place that sells just the glass/front cover for $45. Is there any reason not to get just the glass/cover without the LCD?
I have heard it was a little trickier than doing the assembly.

Not really the galss and digitiser are connected for better veiwing and you can't really get them apart.

http://cnn.cn/shop/samsung-epic-digitizerlcd-unit-p-10021.html this is specifically what I ordered when I dropped mine, and you can't replace the glass separately as it is one piece with the digitizer and the LED unit. When I ordered mine it was $79 off this website, I suppose the price has gone up if you can find it for less you should do that. The screen took about 3 hours to replace my first time being careful and double checking everything. Use black RTV silicone to keep it in place - do not use any other adhesive. It's definitely a 8/10 in difficulty as it requires steady hands and patience up the ying yang.

you're right, it's Cover + Digitizer, or Cover + Digitizer + LCD.
According to the thread linked above, getting one with LCD is much easier

You can probably cancel the order before it's shipped if you'd like to try the $35option.
Best bet imo. Repair stores are life savers.

If you go to a store, make sure it's a repair center by searching for a nearby store on the sprint site.
I made the mistake of going into the nearest corporate store with my tp2 that would randomly think the keyboard had opened and subsequently unlock the phone in the pouch. The idiots at the store kept it for 3 hours and "recalibrated" the screen... it was a hardware problem, not software
When I busted the screen on my Epic, I found a Sprint store that was a repair center. ANY repair other than mainboard damage or water damage is a flat $35 for any phone. Kinda makes the idea of insurance worthless(already is with the deductible). They had a complete shell of an Epic with keyboard and screen, and simply swapped my mainboard into it. So, no activation or data loss/transfer.
Also, the replacement you ordered might be a cheap LCD instead of a SAMOLED like Samsung puts on the phone to start with.

I think it's certainly a possibility. A lot of the replacement screens on ebay and elsewhere claim to be LCD. I can't confirm that they're LCDs or SAMOLED, but I'd wonder.
no - you did the right thing by ordering it off ebay. I worked for sprint and back in september they started repairing phones for 35 bucks.. but on the epic, they changed their policy to NOT repair screens on the epic. they made me pay 100 dollars for a replacement even though i've been carrying the 7 dollar a month insurance, though i had a crack on my LCD.
i purchased the replacement from asurian for 100, bought the 80 dollar replacement screen, frankensteined that on to my old phone, sold the new one for 275
screw you sprint :l
tl;dr: sprint changes policies to throat ram customers yet again
Crack screens are not covered in store anymore with TEP or not per policy, some stores are more lenient. If you have TEP you have the option to file a claim through Asurion just like LD.
If you are going to try and do it yourself, I would suggest buying the TSP and screen together. The LED is so thin it is nearly impossible to take off w/o breaking it. I have yet to get one off w/o it breaking. The screens I have replaced, we always keep the 2 parts together as one.
Do you get to keep the broken phone or they take it for replacement in case of broken screen.

What do you mean? When filing the Asurion claim? Or when we replace screen?

cnn.cn's website advertised the epc replacement screen as an LCD - when i received it it was clearly LED and was the same exact screen as any other epic. There are many layers to an LCD screen that would be obvious upon first glance when compared to an amoled screen.
Two weeks ago I was leaving the office in a hurry and had an epic fail on my part. I put my laptop in the trunk and as I was closing it I managed to drop my keys in the trunk and my Epic landed screen down on the parking lot. From the sickening crunch that I heard I knew this was going to end badly. I picked up the phone and sure enough it had landed on a tiny piece of gravel that shattered the screen so now I was standing in with a broke phone and my keys locked in the trunk. I put a piece of packing tape on the screen to keep the pieces together until I could make it to the repair center. I dropped it off a couple of days later. They told me it would take a couple of hours to fix and I could pick it up later that day. When I picked it up I had a new screen and they even put on a new screen protector to “replace the one that I previously had”. I got a chuckle out of that since it was just a strip of packing tape. The big surprise was when I was told that I didn't owe anything. I didn't care what it was going to cost anyways because the phone is on a corporate business account so it wasn't going to cost me anything. I would hope that they extend the same kind of a courtesy to regular customers from time to time and not just large accounts
Anyone ever replace the screen on the fassy? Had one small crack in the corner and just saw a second one going across most of the face. Love my phone but it will drive me nuts. Upgrade in March will probably take me away from the fascinate......sad.
You can get a replacment screen (glass part) for like $25.
And that sucks.
I sorry.
It has a tough glass screen. Very tough.
where did you drop it?
I've took apart a non working fassy.
Its really easy. If your brave. And have the tools to do so.

Don't have the tools unfortunately. Dropped it in the locker room at the gym.....hit my foot first too....very odd that it even cracked.
I have been using a cracked screen for a while now xD 3 months so far and its fine I just haven't had the time to get the repair kit

When I replaced my screen, I just followed the youtube videos explaining how to do it. I found them very helpful.
I was under the impression that the glass (digitizer) is fused to the LCD and cannot be replaced separately. If anyone has successfully replaced just the glass please reply in this thread because I too have been using my fascinate for a couple months with a cracked screen and would really like to replace the glass without replacing the LCD.
Had my galaxy tab 10.1 in my backpack and cracked the screen. Still works perfectly no display issues at all just a cracked screen so possibly the digitizer only? I can feel the touch cracks and such so thinking maybe the digitizer. But not sure so thought Id ask the experts before I went out and bought something lol
Maybe post a picture.
But yes it sounds like its just the digitizer that's broken. If the LCD gets damaged you will lose parts of the picture

Ouch! That really sucks. Was it in a case? I keep mine in a backpack and am always nervous about it, but I've been ok so far. I keep it between books. Was it from compression or was there point-pressure? If you do end up fixing it, take photos (or a video) as you go and create a how-to for this forum! Turn your personal loss into a community win!
If you have your screen scratch you might want to remove your shatter guard if you havent already. Its a stock fitted film on the front that is like a screen protector but it keeps the glass from flying around when you crack your screen. Sadly it scratches easy. Once you remove it, its almost like a brand new screen!

P.S.: I know this is posted in acessories its just that no one really looks there.
EDIT: THIS MAY ACTUALLY MAKE YOUR SCREEN VULNERABLE. I RECENTLY GAD MINE CRACK AFTER THIS AND IT WAS FROM LEANING LIGHTLY AGAINST A CHAIR! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Thanks for this! I have always been wondering if there was actually a screen protector preinstalled or not. Now this will settle my small arguments with my friends and family. :cyclops:

I was getting worried with the few scratches in the screen, but reading this relieved me a lot!
Thank you so much, JunDavis!
yeah , first i bought my XP , i put the screen protectors as well . after a few month the screen protector becomes thinner at the center of the screen and need to be change and i was thinking like just f**k it and go without a screen protector . and now the glass has many scratches and i feel like i want to change to a new glass and put the screen protector . after checking this thread now i noticed that there is one more layer on top of that glass and i was like thanks god and now i dont have to worry about changing screen protectors again . and sony did a good job about the screen protectors pre installed because it fits the screen too perfectly until it is hardly to notice them .

I removed it as soon as I got the phone back in 2011, I will likely do the same when my Xperia Z arrives, replacing my Galaxy S3 (You have no idea how bad CM10.1 performance is on that Exynos, and Touchwiz is horrible) I love Sony's latest UI, its so stock-like its amazing, yet it looks better than Stock!

That because Samsung does not share its kernels sources = hard on developers to develop ROMs or kernels
And because of that CM team is not going to develop a CM ROM for GS 4
Guys if i remove the factory shatter guard i will have more brightness on xplay screen????
Lol, wow
When I got my Xplay, I wondered why I didnt have any protectors in the package (or I lost it) like my sister's Neo had.
I was thinking about buying a screen protector but it seems that I dont need to ^..^ thank you.
Also, if Im not reading that post totaly wrong, it does appear that XPlays screen does become slightly brighter if you remove this stock protector.
