Anyone ever replace the screen on the fassy? Had one small crack in the corner and just saw a second one going across most of the face. Love my phone but it will drive me nuts. Upgrade in March will probably take me away from the fascinate......sad.
You can get a replacment screen (glass part) for like $25.
And that sucks.
I sorry.
It has a tough glass screen. Very tough.
where did you drop it?
I've took apart a non working fassy.
Its really easy. If your brave. And have the tools to do so.

Don't have the tools unfortunately. Dropped it in the locker room at the gym.....hit my foot first too....very odd that it even cracked.
I have been using a cracked screen for a while now xD 3 months so far and its fine I just haven't had the time to get the repair kit

When I replaced my screen, I just followed the youtube videos explaining how to do it. I found them very helpful.
I was under the impression that the glass (digitizer) is fused to the LCD and cannot be replaced separately. If anyone has successfully replaced just the glass please reply in this thread because I too have been using my fascinate for a couple months with a cracked screen and would really like to replace the glass without replacing the LCD.

you can get a screen. Search the forum, check ebay, or google it. They are not terribly difficult to find.
It is not a very east replacement because of the unibody style construction of the Nexus One. You will probably need a set of pry tools/ disassembling tools. I would check youtube, there is a 20 part video showing how to take it apart. There is also a teardown on ifixit.com . Most of the replacement screens seem to lack the adhesive to attach the screen to the chassis (bezel? Whatever it is called) of the phone. I've seen people say that using double-sided tape works.
Cost to have HTC replace it is $115 the last three time I had it done. . Each time I've received what appears to be a brand new phone.
Of course it can be done, just not worth it, IMO
I broke my digitizer a few months ago and thought I'd do it myself. I spent about $30 for a new one on ebay and got the instructions off youtube....BAD MOVE...It was a pain in the butt and I ended up breaking the LCD and couldn't even get all the guts back in it.
In the end, I sent the thing to HTC and spent the $120 or so to have it fixed and it looked and worked like new.
This is just general information for all who may have cracked or shattered your screen , Sprint will charge you a $100 deductible to fix or replace the screen if there is more then 2 cracks in it. This is nuts, just buy the screen and do it your self for $60 dollars.
Factory Screen Replacements
This is a well known problem as the screen will most likely crack when dropped.
Hope this helps out !!
Mine has some scratches on it bc I dropped it on asphalt, how hard would it be to replace the screen?

Well I believe it is just a snap fit top as it does come with a pry tool for opening the case. I will confirm this later today as I am doing a screen replacement for a friend of mine.
I will report back later with the procedure.
Hi guys my S4 was dropped and when I tried replacing the glass I found out the glass under that one is also broken, the touch worked perfectly everywhere on the screen but now I need the glass between the outer one and the digitizer. When I took it out it kind of looks tinted, sorry but that's the best description I can give. Anyone know where I can get a new one? (Im asking about the glass between the top outer one and the digitizer)
Normally you need to replace the whole digitizer and outer glass. Its one part and costs a lot to replace. I learned the hard way fixed the screen on my note twice and now I bought an s4 and never take it out of my otter defender case.

So I basically broke the digitizer along with the already broken screen and have to spend $250 for a whole new digitizer?
EDIT: I think you might be right because when I turn it on the screen doesn't work, theres a faint line of light in the left corner and the notification light (blue when turning the phone on) and the menu and back buttons work.
I cant stress how good my otter defender case is. It saved my phone so many times. They r a bit bulky and ugly but it beats fixing it too much$$$. Especially the s4 it is a weak phone.

I am sick to my stomach. My new phone (3 days old) just dropped about a foot or so and shattered the screen unbelievably.
My Atrix took half a dozen drops like that (and from higher) and never cracked. What a frickin' joke this so-called Gorilla Glass is!
Is there a reasonably priced way to replace the screen? The phone still works but it looks like total crap.

Found a screen replacement kit with everything needed for $20 delivered on Amazon.

Paid $3 extra for overnight air (Prime membership, ftw!) and I will have it Tuesday.
I understand it is VERY painstaking job to replace it, but plan on watching some Youtube videos first.
Already had a case coming that should be here the same day so this will NOT happen again.

I had this happen a few months ago, but mine smashed the digitizer as well. Cost me $250 to fix and replace. I can give you a contact if you're interested.. I'm in Melbourne.
Let's not blame the manufacturer for your clumsiness. There are millions of people who use this phone and probably have dropped it too without breaking the display.

3 times in a week or so....
Might wanna try holding on a little tighter
Dont think i've ever dropped the s4 and not even a scratch on the screen although the S-view cover helps to grip it i think. The olephobic coating has worn away now and it gets grimey which is annoying.
The s2 got dropped on concrete and on a gravel path when throwing a stick for the dog. Survived OK
The thing I am wondering about, having watched several videos, is that they are all almost completely dismantling the phone before replacing the glass.
Check me on this, but the glass screen is NOT connected to any of that stuff.
If I was replacing the AMOLED/digitizer I could see all that being necessary.
However, once the battery, sim and sd cards are out, why not just go ahead with the removal of the glass?
Anybody done it that way?

It is hard make they believe that. But you should have a try.
The glass, screen and frame are glued together tightly. It is a hard task to replace one part only.
Although you send it to repair store, they only help you to replace the whole display assembly for avoiding risk.
If you want to repair by yourself, I don't suggest to replace the glass only.
Separating the glass from screen, you have to keep heat gun on 80 degree. It is a very hard task for a freshman to separate the glass from screen and keep the screen prefect. It needs the professional skill and tools.
You can try to replace the S4 screen with glass and frame by yourself. It is not a hard job and will save a lot of money. BTW you must get the correct version of screen with digitizer and frame replacement part for your S4.
You can get original spare part from witrigs.com which offers repair guide.
