MAGLDR V1.12 soon! main features: *various bug-fixes *built-in recovery support.
Now I know there's already a post. But what I'm asking for is if someone can write a brief walk through on upgrading...from old versions or clockwork.
Is it a case that you use the DFT flasher with the latest version to take the phone up to 1.12, then run the clockwork mod again? Or will clockwork not be required any more as it says it has built in recovery support?
Thought I'd get this nailed now before hundreds of questions plague the forum!
Step by step.
0. HardSPL should already be installed
1. Download and flash your carriers LATEST SHIPPED OFFICIAL ROM
2. Download and flash latest MAGLDR
3. Use latest MAGLDR to install Nand ROM of choice.
Very simple.

you can actually just flash 1.12 over 1.11 without having to go stock > HSPL first, just know that it will erase your current ROM per Cotulla it repartitions so back up your current ROM. If you're using CWM what you'd do is:
1) go into CWM and backup your ROM
2) Flash MAGLDR 1.12
3) Flash CWM
4) enter CWM and restore your backed up ROM.
If you want to do a "clean" install (recommended by some) then do as dharvey recommends, but I'd throw a task29 in there before flashing stock for that extra "clean" feeling.
edit: after re-reading your post, you have a point on maybe CWM being built into 1.12. If this is the case then you would skip step 3 and go from step 2 to accessing the built in CWM and restoring as in step 4.

As stated, absolutely no reason to do #1.

Like TheATHEIST says, I don't think flashing a stock WinMo ROM makes a lot of sense here. Just flashing MAGLDR directly after task29 would be more sensible, I'd think.
Like you say, when you flash some Android ROM MAGLDR will repartition and overwrite the contents of your NAND anyway. No need to fill it with unnecessary WinMo stuff first.
Anyone here have a 1.12 beta?
I think there is no need for this thread. Cotulla should have the full instructions on how to upgrade from 1.10 or 1.11 when he has updated his post to the 1.12 build. It is too early to give update instructions for somthing that is yet to be released!

Not quite, I`m afraid. As people have mentioned before, you can just back-up everything then restore those back-ups after upgrading. Really isn`t that hard...

You would have to talk to cotulla for source code, as its closed source. It's only for hd2.

But how can I talk to Coulda? I can't access his blog from PRC.

I agree. But I do a mtty- task 28, task 29 first before any new nbh. I also do a task2a but that is a bit much for most here who can't bring it back afterwards. For any interested in undoing task2a-clean let me know - not that hard -really. Damn I hope MAGLDR 1.12 can boot WM6.5 also ! and UBUNTU zImage/rootfs.ext2... Not gonna even mention wp7 although I heard it now has .pvk cracked and is LIVE. As long as bugs fixed be great: but ubuntu, ext2 support for it, and wp6 .nbh rom load from sd would be great. I am using darkstone super-nand with RAM image partition and getting OVER 4000 on QUADRANT with ABSOLUTELTY NO OVERCLOCKING. With over clocking it is crazy. Cant wait for (sorry off topic) super-nand with OC1536-smartass.
Only benefit of flashing stock rom is it does remove hspl and for some reason seems to CLEAN it out - ie: spl, radio, all nand etc. Ive been doing that and task2a AFTER enabling uselast24nand succesfully but had to make MY OWN NBH to get it back and put SPL/HSPL back onto after RSA FAIL = "bricked".
More seriously:
Anyone here know how to make magldr work with zImage and initrd from ubuntu? and mount/shrink/"yaffs" rootfs.ext2 ? maybe using initrd from CLK1.1 .nbh? or even darkstone's initrd and point onward to rootfs?

Yep. But #htc-linux is the only place to go for that but is waste: he is BUSY with two major projects . dont think he reads this but DFT do: mwang etc.
ps: darkstone-superNAND-rules: quadrant over4000 with no Overclocking at all and is Killer!
pps: Ubuntu DOES "boot" on Magldr 1.11 and gets upto keyboard and desktop - then freezes - why is this - note: must be in \linux and magldr pointed to it. It stays ALIVE a LOT longer under darkstone's supernand rom obviously due to something with ram partition? Any idea how to make it work? and keep it fully ALIVE?

Yes. You'll obviously need magldr 1.12, and you will lose Android, but you can flash WP7 directly over it.
I just flashed MAGLDR 1.12 it doesn't seem you need to reinstall android, do i need to reinstall android? Will there be bugs, etc..?

Flashing magldr alone will not do anything to your installed ROM. You don't need to worry about reinstalling Android.

If I understand you correctly you are wanting to return to Windows Mobile 6.5 from NAND Android, correct?
If that is the case, all you need to do is flash a Windows Mobile ROM via the RUU. This will overwrite MAGLDR and any partitions on your NAND that were created as a result of flashing a NAND Android ROM.
ok but if i have original german rom can i put eanglish rom via RUU and do i lost mdglr in that case. ......if i will put new nandroid is like this
put new radio
put madglr1.11 or 1.12
and flas nand
am i corect.........
and if i wish to put new nand on hd2 with oldnand what i must to do
and that will bee all

If you flash a Windows Mobile ROM, regardless of the language, it will overwrite MAGLDR.
If you are looking to run Android, then just flash MAGLDR. That is a one-time deal unless you overwrite it with Windows Mobile. Once MAGLDR is flashed via the RUU to your phone you can flash as many NAND Android ROM's as you want, without having to reflash MAGLDR. You can also flash Radio ROM's via RUU without affecting MAGLDR or NAND ROM's because they are applied to a different area of the phone. Hope that clears it up for you.
So, to answer your question, if you want to overwrite a previous NAND rom with a new one, all you need to do is flash the new one. You won't have to reflash MAGLDR.
thanks man what can i say i ask this for me and other peple who know in teory but no so well in practice
and same way is whit new nand to previos is run dft in folder and thats all
can i boot 6.5 from sd card if i only change nbh to LEO.nbx corect...will put some pictures or video maybe for people ican sey that i dont now much but i have wish to learn.....bicouse i am facinant whit phones my 1st wos mpx 220 motorola then i mate-s qutec-s

might sound a daft question, even.though most procedures to.install wp7 seem to be the same but explained differently, just would like to know which one u found easier? basically im after a very basic noobs guide!.hope someone can assist.i havnt flashed the hd2yet, ive been on many websites some with video tutorials.
i want to do it, but i dont want to screw it up..ive got a tmobile branded hd2 running 3.14 offical Rom. i know i need hspl 4 and 2.08.
Well, if you´re not familiar with flashing, it´s perfectly ok to be careful.
Installing WP7 on HD2 is really simple.
I suggest you download one of the newest builds out there (from May, those include the NoDo update).
Before installing it, you must prepare your HD2:
1) Using HSPL4, install HSPL version 2.08.HSPL
2) If not on your HD2, install Radio ROM 2.15.50.xx
3) Install MAGLDR 1.13
Now, you can go into MAGLDR bootscreen, select "USB flash", connect to the PC, and flash the ROM you downloaded.
That´s about it.
To return to WinMo, if wanted, just flash your stock ROM with the SD card method, everything will be put back to factory settings.
Wow , thats excellant mate..much appreciated ..
5) Install Zune
6) Install WP7 SDK
7) Install XAP's
i presume Zune is required to transfer data files ie music&video, are the other two steps neccesary? what do they do..? been reading other post about these but i cant seem to understand sorry
all sorted thanks
Please I need Help
first I'm New on HTC
I bought HTC HD2
It's Has Android 2.2 But with too many bugs and hangging
I need to Upgrade but i dont know how , I'm Familiar with sonyericsson and now did'nt understand from this fourm
Please i need help by baby step and what is the best nand or sd card
please can any one help me?!?!?!?!
How did you manage to get Froyo running without knowing how to upgrade?...
Anw you can check out this HD2 toolkit thing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
that makes everything just as user friendly as it can get. To get your HD2 working on a new ROM, you need to:
1. Flash HSPL
2. Flash radio to 2.15.xxx, unless your radio is 2.15.xx already...
3. Install Magldr/cLK (You'll need some drivers from Android SDK to install cLK, so I suggest just go for Magldr)
4. Install Clockworkmod Recovery
5. Choose a ROM (XD XD)
6. Flash the ROM using CWM (every ROM is different, so follow instructions on the ROM page)
It's also advisable that you perform Task 29 (wipe) before installing a new ROM, to avoid any force close issues.
Btw, the HD2 rarely hangs, and if yours does so quite often you should be suspecting that the hardware is a bit screwy, and it's time for repairs...
really thnk you for your help
i'm familiar with sony ericsson and know little about android and need rom more than 2.2
but please all i need from you to advice me that i use sd card method or nand?!?!?wich better?!?!
I think you bought your HD2 with Android?
The HD2 has normally Windows Mobile 6.5.
If you wanna use WM6.5 AND Android (to switch between WM and Android), you should use an SD Build.
If you just wanna have Android as your main OS, you should use a NAND Build (recommended).
How to install NAND Builds is described in the Threads of the NAND build you wanna have.
Hey guys im kinda confused about this but here we go let me explain.
Im currently on the WP7 rom [ROM][24 LANGS] 02.04.12 HD2O© v2.00b5 WP7 TANGO 8773 [ONLINE]
i dont really like it and its buggy so i would like to go back to the stock windows mobile rom then flash one of the custom roms for it maybe.
I have the Australian Telstra T9193 if that is important
if someone could just help me get it back to stock would be great because i bougt the phone with windows phone 7 already on it so im a big noob and i plan on selling the phone soon anyway.
btw does flashing the stock rom remove magldr? i have no clue and ive tried reading around but i just dont understand all this lol
Yes flashing the stock ROM for your HD2 will remove the WP7 ROM and MAGLDR. You can flash it via your computer while connected via USB with a RUU. Or you can extract the ROM from the RUU and flash it via SD card. I suggest you just use the RUU though as it will clean the NAND before installing the ROM.
