Morning....I have HTC HD2, Flashed with current 1.11 MAGDLR and Radio 2.15. I have Flashed NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND and would like to update to current NexusHD2 build. However, when the bootloader is entered into, and Flasher is selected, phone will see USB, but when hooked to PC and DAF is selected to Run in Admin, I get a Error mess, that the computer is not seeing the USB and connecting.
Now seeing that I am VERY new at this.....I don't understand too much about Task 29 or things like that I have read about as far as a fix for the Error. But I cannot seem to find anyone that can tell me how to either fix the issue, or a solution around the problem so that I can either load another ROM or load the update.
I guess I should also add that my phone is running Android from the root side of the phone and not a dual boot with Windows still intact. I think that was important to add somewhere I read.
THanks for any help anyone can give me......
Micki

I had the same problem, when you open the file and it should be daf.exe file or install.exe file, you have to extract that file the a new folder on your computer and then open it from within the folder with right click and use as administrator!!!! worked for me..let me know...

Not able to make a usb connection to the phone when in Magldr
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
Go to the Activesync icon in the bottom right corner, right click on it and untick the option "Allow usb connections" and then connect the device again. Run daf.exe (or install.exe) as administrator by right clicking on it and selecting the option (if using Windows7 or Vista). Hopefully the usb drivers will then install and the Android Rom will flash.
Another option could be to uninstall and reinstall Activesync or to try different usb ports on your pc. If that doesnt work and you have Windows XP then you need to try on a machine with Vista or Windows 7.
If none of this works then try taking out your micro SD Card and repeating the process or flash a Custom Rom before you flash Magldr rather than a Stock Rom.
Lastly you could try starting the NAND installer with the phone unplugged and then plugged the phone in. The installer should immediately detect your device and proceed to flash.

hi all
im trying to flash the rom on my phone but for some reason it wont go to usb in boot loader , i cna sync it , load file to sd card et all but it doesnt go usb any more in boot laoder.
any one got any ideas ?
huh, perhaps you need to update drivers for Vista/7, happens to me every fifth flash or so
go to Device Manager - Update Drivers - Search My Computer - Let me pick from a list - Have Disc, then find the downloaded and extracted folder
for 32-bit Vista/7 you need "wceusbsh"
also, before flashing you need to run WMDC, open Settings and untick "Allow USB connections"
already done that but it did caom up in the end just ahd to un plug re plug serveral times and waiiiiiit . flashed ok (least so far its alloking good)
thanks.
i am changing over to nand android and i'm have some problems. when i try to flash a new radio or MAGLDR113. i get an error saying that the flash utility can't open the file. i then decided to start from scratch as i thought some got screwed up along the way. i flashed the original wm 6.5 rom and it worked. then i flashed hspl 2.08 and it worked. but now i seem to be the same place i started. a new radio won't flash and MAGLDR113 won't either. i get those same file read/open errors in the flash utility. anybody got any ideas on a fix? i didn't have time to really do a search on this topic, i have 2 kids running around wanting this and that, fighting and crying. any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance
Ok first question, with MAGLDR are you right clicking and running as administrator, same goes for radio? Next question have you got the latest version of ActiveSync or WMDC installed on your computer so you havecthe most uptodate drives? Third are you outing hour HD2 into bootloadercby holding down the volume down button whilecpowering on your HD2 and then connecting itcyo your computer and waiting forcthe Serial I'm thecwhite bar of bootloader to change to USB then flashing the radio or MAGLDR as administrator?
yes running as admin.
yes latest activesync.
if i try to go through the bootloader and plug in the usb it does change on the screen but it won't connect to the computer.
i get a 238 file read error after running update utility for MAGLDR113 in admin.
i grt a 240 file open error for the new radio

When you use bootloader and connect it to your computer it should say HTC USB sync in the safe to remove device or in your device manager in the control panel that means it is connected to your computer and you can flash the ROM, radio, splash screen, HSPL, MAGLDR, etc. This is a big miss conseption by most people that you have to use ActiveSync to flash whatever you are trying to flash via RUU.
Also, bit of a silly one, but wouldn't be the first,,, when you get the file open errors, you aren't trying to run from within the zip are you? Customruu and the .nbh should be extracted to a folder on their own. There have been cases where people open the zip and try to run ruu without extracting them first.

Ok it sort of souds like you have a bad USB cable and it can no longer do data transfer.
Find the magldr.nbh file in MAGLDR and make a copy of it on your desktop and rename it leoimg.nbh then copy it to the root of your SD card. You may have to use scare reader to do this if you unless you have another USB cable handy then you will not need to do this. Once you have the file on your SD card andcthe SD card back in your HD2 hold the volume down button down while powering on the HD2. This will bring up bootloader bit keep the volume down button pressed until you see searching then let it go. It will ask if you want to flash the image press the end button to confirm and it will flash MAGLDR. You can flash your radio thecsame way but you will have to look for the RUU_signed.nbh file for it but still you will have to copy it and rename it to leoimg.nbh. only put one of these at a time on hour card and flash it. Be director delete the file after you flash the radio or MAGLDR before you copy the next file and flash it, you only want one leoimg.nbh file at a time on your SD card.
You will have t have a working USB cable though to flash either a DAF Android ROM via option #4 of MAGLDR USB Flasher or to flash CWM through option #4 of MAGLDR.

yup got it working now. the sd method worked and i went next door to try a cable from my neighbor and finished the job. i tried the "defective" cable with my other phone and it worked. and files can be transferred to the sd on this phone through that cable but for whatever reason it wouldn't flash a radio or magldr. so i would not have thought of it being bad. strange...
anyway thanks for the help. i wouldn't have thought to flash the radio and magldr through the sd and i would've been up all night pulling my hair out.
hello, i flashed my hd2 many times but i now have an issue. i have windows 7 rom by boyppc_shiftpda v1 installed on my leo. which flashing software do i use to flash my leo so i can install a different rom onto it. the problem for me lies in the fact that when i connect my leo to my computer, zune software automatically starts up and it connects to the phone, unfortunatelly the computer does not recognize the phone as a storage device and does not think it is connected. so every single time i am trying to flash it with any of the DFT soptware i get an error that usb device is not connected.
HELP
You have to boot your HD2 into MAGLDR by holding the end/power button down while booting your HD2 up. When the MAGLDR menu comes up use the volume buttons to scroll down to option#5 USB Flasher and then connect your HD2 via USB cable to your computer. When you see your HD2 listed as MAGLDR in safe to remove you can right click on the DAF and select run as administrator. I also think you have to have ActiveSync or WMDC (ActiveSync for XP, WMDC for Vista and Windoes 7)" installed on your computer for for USB drivers perposes. Not 100% sure about that though but I have read people post that after they reinstalled these programs they had no troubles.
Check this tutorial... Worked for me and has all the relevant links...

Hey,
it is realy easy. but you do not necessarily have to install Active Sync or WMDC ( what ever ). I plugged my Phone into the new installed Windows 7, Switch in the Magdlr and choose USB-Flasher.
Now Windows 7 download the Driver automatically. ( wait a few Minus, i mean 5 )
If installed, rigthklick -> run as admin -> have fun
Ok well I have been trying to do this for quite some time and never found a solution, I had android 2.3.3 installed on my previous phone and eventually had to use CLK files to upgrade my HD2. That one unfortunately messed up and I received a replacement, and cannot even install an HSPL 2,3, or 4 to unlock the phone because the software does not even boot. I've tried using Ksubedis tool and same thing I will post a picture please someone help its frustrating using WM 6.5.
Right click and "run as administrator " and use USB slot in back of PC case, not front.

Using a Windows 7 HP Laptop 64-Bit only two USB ports(both USB 2.0) they are on the left side, but as you see on the picture nothing comes up not even an error. So idk what is going on.
There's a fair number of threads where 64bit windows doesn't work.any chance you have another machine available?
Also firewall off, anti virus off,and redownload the .exe
Are you running as admin. Is it your laptop do you have admin privileges?

The Rom I have Listed in this Tutorial is said to be the BEST PERFORMANCE ROM. And its SYSTEM PARTITION SIZE IS 400M. And CACHE SIZE 5M. Use it if you like or find your own Rom of Preference and flash that specific Roms Size Partition or it will not boot.
Do You have HSPL 2.08 on this?
1.If Not Use Ksubedi's Toolkit and Go into BootLoader VIA Volume Down and Power Button Simultaneously. and Connect Phone to PC wait for "USB" at Top Center of White Strip.
2. Click HSPL 2.08 in Toolkit, while in BootLoader. Let it Finish.
3. Enter BootLoader one more Time. This time click Install MAGLDR in Toolkit. With Partition Size of which rom you want to flash highlighted. and Correct Cache Size, Partition and Cache Size can be determined by the OP of the Rom you want to Flash.
4. Once Flashed, Hold POWER DOWN. Until you see 12 Options.
5. Go to Option "5. USB Flasher." wait for "Wait USB...USB" (Note Phone Needs to be Connect to PC During whole Process).
6. Use Daf.exe from this File: http://hotfile.com/list/1335611/19f8a51
and Download File HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_TMOUS_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024.rar.
7. Once Download and you are in Option 5. Run the DAF.exe in the above file and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. Idk why but now devs don't want to include the Daf.exe with their latest builds.
8. Once Daf.exe is finished. Boot into MAGLDR again and go to Option "8. AD Recovery." This time.
9. Partition SDCard, if you haven't done so already, in Advanced Menu with size 1024M and Swap size 0M.
10. Then "Mount USB Storage" Then "Mount USB" and Copy Zip to SDCard.
11. Flash and Reboot.

Yes i understand the process this is my third phone flashing, actually ive flashed numerous phones and never encountered this error. as you see in the picture, after clicking DAF.exe the screen pops up but nothing happens it doesnt even let me know if i encountered an error. which i am assuming its the windows 7 64 bit, and i can't even flash an HSPL with this...and ive tried using ksubedis tool and same conclusion
ok well i discovered that when trying to flash the HSPL4 and click on the DAF.exe the font is invisible but it gives me an option to flash it or cancel you cant see it but when you move the cursor to the bottom right hand corner you see two hollow boxes, the one on the right is to cancel installation as you see if you click on it, and when you move the cursor a little over to the left is to install the HSPL and the next window gives you the option to install which ever HSPL you need. Then I used ksubedis tool to install MAGLDR which i could, then i installed it, but when i attempted to partition i could not flash it. so i just went back to clk, so now i can flash clk only though. dont know whats going anymore.
Its not the problem with the OS. Because I have the same OS, Windows 7 64bit. Well I suggest trying it on another PC or Laptop, whichever is your preference. And another thing I can say is to right click the DAF.executive and then properties and change the compatibility mode to Windows 98? Or Windows XP?
And BTW have you tried running the DAF that is in the file I told you to download earlier? Cuz maybe the Daf.exe you're running now is corrupted?

I have not tried it with the file you provided, but after I install it where do i insert it, and I have downloaded various forms of different ROMS, and tools that use DAF.exe and always the same result. also ive tried changing the compatibility of the tools by right clicking and clicking on troubleshoot compatibility and changing it vista and other older forms of windows and no luck
ok i also discovered when trying to repartition with Ksubedis tool for a ROM and the same happened when trying to install the HSPL, invisible font but this time you dont see the hollow boxes, but there are two boxes on the bottom right as you would when flashing an HSPL. Finally i can use MAGLDR once again even though CLK was easier.
Hello,
I recently purchased HTC HD2 from someone. It came to me with Android 2.2 froyo installed in it through NAND. Now when I am trying to put ICS replacing froyo or when I am trying to put WINMO 7.5 Mango along with android it doesn't detect USB device connection.
All other features are working perfectly like, phone charging through USB, USB detection for SD card etc.
USB doesn't detect only when I try to run through MAGLDR. For example: when I am switching ON my phone by pressing Voume down key along with power key, colourful screen appears with "SERIAL" written on it. Now when I connect phone to my PC through USB it doesn't change to "USB" from "SERIAL".
Also when I am switching ON my phone by continuously pressing power key to get into MAGLDR mode and trying to flash using the 5th option "USB Flasher Mode", here also I can see just "Wait USB…" rather as per the tutorials it should display "Wait USB…USB".
Now because of this issue I am unable to use my HD2 using WINMO or with any other android OS.
Please help with any option so as I can use the USB feature or to install different OS. My motiv behind purchasing this set was only the customization I can do with the phone. Now without which my motive is getting failed.. Please help me guys :crying: ..
Thanks,
Harjeet
What's your PC setup?
A few things,,
In wmdc untick allow USB connections,, the wmdc that comes with vista/win7 isn't the latest version, Google the Microsoft wmdc page and manually download+install, try not to use a 64 bit windows machine if you have the option, (winxp for preference), running an os through any virtual machine type setup can be problematic, try different USB ports, for magldr it needs the android drivers,,,they can be found in various ways, they're linked in the nand toolkit thread, or I think installing "myphoneexplorer " on the PC installs them too, or Google the android sdk (that's a long and complicated way to get them)
Thanks for replying..
First thing.. Do I need to install WMDC when I am not having windows OS itself in my phone? This is just a question because as per my knowledge I don't need to install WMDC unless I am using windows in my Mobile.
At present mobile is purely an android phone with android OS installed in NAND.
And yes I am having Windows XP 32 bit with me. I already tried with different data cables and in different USB slots but USB connection for installing new OS doesn't work. Other then this all other features of USB are working perfectly.
Please revert in case my opinion is wrong.
Thanks,
Harjeet

no its not, its a windows mobile phone with a hacked winmo bootloader allowing it to run a custom bootloader (magldr or clk) which enables android to run.
Anything you do in the winmo bootloader (stripey screen - hspl, task29/flashing magldr/flashing stock roms, flashing radios - ) all requires windows mobile usb drivers.
Anything you do from the magldr screen requires android usb drivers.

Hello all.
When you've got some problems with you datacable via phone/pc is also this a solution.
Be sure you've make a copy of your SD-card and after when you copied SD to PC (harddisc) via datacable or cardreader and after this you gonna formatting your SD-card or you buy a new SD-card.
Then put new or formatted SD-card into your phone and started it up in bootloadermenu (colorscreened) <volume down> and after this you wil see now in place only "serial" changed into "USB".
I'll be hope that this wil working.
I've my HTC HD2 also working when i fixed this.
HTC HD2 / PACman Android version 4.1.2 (latest version) / Magldr 1.13 / CWM recovery 3.2.0.0 <this combine works very simple and als this Android rom is stable and fast without automatically rebooting time.
For more you've check <HTC HD2 Android roms>
I wish you good luck with your phone...
i have the same problem
I had the same problem on my Windows 7 x64. Then I tried to connect HD2 to my older Win XP notebook and there it worked. So I found somewhere, I should update drivers in my Windows 7 system. I downloaded file "drvupdate-amd64.exe" from Microsoft (search in Google for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit)"), installed it and then it started to work (it took a while, before it started to work, but it started). When I connected my HD2, Windows found the driver, installed it and "SERIAL" changed to "USB" finally.

I confess I haven't read all answers so it might be a repetition but what I think is you might have made changes in your operating system, specially in SYSTEM REGISTRY that deals with communicating your devices chipset in particular mode, I think it is a QUALCOMM device, now you should do following things:-
First if you have registry backup, apply that and revert back to previous system registry or in case you have not, restore your OS to any previous restore point.
Then restart system, connect USB cable and start it in the particular mode you asked in question (vol down+power), it should try detecting driver.
If it can't, better solution to try finding QUALCOMM MSM driver for HD2 separately is to download windows active sync/htc sync, which might be having these drivers built in, download it and if it doesn't help, restart your system, then try again, it should work, in case doesn't PM me, as I won't be following this post, most probably even you ain't
