hi all
im trying to flash the rom on my phone but for some reason it wont go to usb in boot loader , i cna sync it , load file to sd card et all but it doesnt go usb any more in boot laoder.
any one got any ideas ?
huh, perhaps you need to update drivers for Vista/7, happens to me every fifth flash or so
go to Device Manager - Update Drivers - Search My Computer - Let me pick from a list - Have Disc, then find the downloaded and extracted folder
for 32-bit Vista/7 you need "wceusbsh"
also, before flashing you need to run WMDC, open Settings and untick "Allow USB connections"
already done that but it did caom up in the end just ahd to un plug re plug serveral times and waiiiiiit . flashed ok (least so far its alloking good)
thanks.

i got the same problem. however there is a workaround. you could google for a zip file containing the driver files (not an installer) and install them using "Device managers". that will connect the Magic, and you can adb with it. And no, even with that HTC Sync does not work.
Install the drivers and it will be recognize. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and no probs connecting to MT3G.
I have a 64 bit Win7 and i installed vista x64 driver and it works fine
Just found these drivers for Windows 7. Installing them now so will let you know if they work!!

Nope it still won't recognise the device.

I had to go to Printers and devices or whatever it's called, then right click on Android phone, choose properties (with admin access) and driver. Then update driver for the phone itself (currently it probably say Dream or something) and always choose to browse to the file manually. Then click to get a list of compatible drivers, and then click "HAVE DISK" (this is the only way I got it to work) and browse to the driver files for Windows 7 in
C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64
and it should work.
I don't seem to have 'Andrioid' in my Devices & Printers. Not really sure why but i'll have a little play around with a few settings and see.
I have confirmed this to fix my "unrecognized" usb device driver issues in the past.
1. Uninstall whatever you can related to previous failed driver installs for the USB device.
2. Shut down the PC
3. UNPLUG THE POWERCORD
4. Unplug your USB device, if not allready unplugged
5. Plug the power cord back in
6. Boot the machine and log back into windows.
7. Let it fully load then reboot again.
This will attempt to give you new IRQ's and DMA's for the usb port.
Now try your driver installation.
i`ve had the same problem
my solution...
settings -> SD card & phone storage -> unmount sd card
remove SD Card and insert the card again...
after that , everything works fine...

This technique has definately fixed the 'unrecognised' problem! Still can't open up my phone as a removable drive in My Computer though, but its a good start! HTC Sync also still can't recognise it. Thanks for help I'm sure this'll help a lot of people with Windows 7.
Install USBDeview (google it) and find any listed driver (with the phone disconnected) related to the words Android, HTC, Dream (you get the picture) and uninstall if you need to remove USB-drivers for the phone. Then you can plug it back in "fresh" and use new drivers.
Wonder if anyone on here can help or if they've had a similiar issue.
My phone will connect to HTC sync no worries and i can drag drop files etc when i select the disk drive option...
but i'm trying to flash a custom rom and install the clockwork recovery image, the issue i have is in fastboot usb mode my Laptop is not recognising the phone being plugged in, if i leave the phone in Hboot and connect the usb it says its looking for a driver but fails to install properly even if i download and direct windows to the driver it still says it can't install, any suggestions i'm stuck at the moment cause without being able to get the laptop to recognise the phone i can't get the android interface to kick in (if that makes sense)
Running windows vista..
Thanks

Have you got Android SDK installed on your PC, Im sure the driver is in there...android .1.0 driver I think..
Without Android SDK you cant use fastboot flash for clockwork image..
I have...
I tried about a dozen times yesterday to get windows to accept the drivers in the Android SDK folder and it wouldn't..
Today first time its actually installed them ? But when i plug the phone in it still doesn't bring up the android terminal interface.
In device manager it is showing the phone as android bootloader interface, but the pc isn't doing anything, is there a way to open up the interface if it doesn't automatically ?
I've tried the exe files in the Android SDK folder inc the emulator.exe and a terminal screen briefly appears (less than a second) then goes...
This is beginning to do my head in LOL...
Did you install and launched HTC sync? It should install all the necessary drivers.

Ok try this.... shut phone down, boot (volume down and power button) selected fastboot so it turns red, put the files into android-sdk-windows\tools. i-e the clockwork image and fastboot files
Plug usb cable in.
In "windows search program files" type cmd
now type cd c:\android-sdk-windows (unless you placed the android sdk somewhere else!!)
type cd tools
Type fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-ace-modaco-r2.img
When done type fastboot-windows reboot
You should now have CWM.
Now I know you may have tried this but It would help to find out what happens if you haven't already do so.
EDIT ...I also ask this because my laptop doesn't do anything either when I plug in usb cable in fastboot mode..im on windows 7....
Just trying to help...
Really appreciate the reply.
I got a "cannot load" Error.
I think its down to a driver for my phone when in the fastboot mode.
Whats might shed some light on something for someone with a bit more windows/android knowledge than myself is
When the phone is in Fastboot USB mode in Device manager the phone is listed as Android Bootloader interface but when i type into cmd "adb devices" nothing is listed.
When the phone is switched on normally and syncing with HTC sync in device manager the phone is listed as "my htc" and when i type adb devices in cmd, the message adb server is out of date killing...
then daemon is started and the device shows in my list ?
But HTC sync stops working ?
And the internet on my laptop stops working bizarrly.
I'm really scratching my head now lol
I'm thinking it must be something to do with not having the correct driver for Fastboot USB mode ?
Finally sorted it, had to remove the phone from device manager and delete the driver.
Then went into programs and features and removed everything to do with HTC.
Re-Installed HTC Sync
which also reinstalled HTC drivers
Plugged the phone in let windows select the driver and instead of showing in device manager as Android Bootloader Interface it showed as My HTC Sync and worked first time, not sure what happened but sure glad thats finally sorted..
Rixsta really appreciate the advice...
Cheers
Morning....I have HTC HD2, Flashed with current 1.11 MAGDLR and Radio 2.15. I have Flashed NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND and would like to update to current NexusHD2 build. However, when the bootloader is entered into, and Flasher is selected, phone will see USB, but when hooked to PC and DAF is selected to Run in Admin, I get a Error mess, that the computer is not seeing the USB and connecting.
Now seeing that I am VERY new at this.....I don't understand too much about Task 29 or things like that I have read about as far as a fix for the Error. But I cannot seem to find anyone that can tell me how to either fix the issue, or a solution around the problem so that I can either load another ROM or load the update.
I guess I should also add that my phone is running Android from the root side of the phone and not a dual boot with Windows still intact. I think that was important to add somewhere I read.
THanks for any help anyone can give me......
Micki

I had the same problem, when you open the file and it should be daf.exe file or install.exe file, you have to extract that file the a new folder on your computer and then open it from within the folder with right click and use as administrator!!!! worked for me..let me know...
This doesn't belong in the NAND development forum!
Not able to make a usb connection to the phone when in Magldr
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
Go to the Activesync icon in the bottom right corner, right click on it and untick the option "Allow usb connections" and then connect the device again. Run daf.exe (or install.exe) as administrator by right clicking on it and selecting the option (if using Windows7 or Vista). Hopefully the usb drivers will then install and the Android Rom will flash.
Another option could be to uninstall and reinstall Activesync or to try different usb ports on your pc. If that doesnt work and you have Windows XP then you need to try on a machine with Vista or Windows 7.
If none of this works then try taking out your micro SD Card and repeating the process or flash a Custom Rom before you flash Magldr rather than a Stock Rom.
Lastly you could try starting the NAND installer with the phone unplugged and then plugged the phone in. The installer should immediately detect your device and proceed to flash.

Hello,
recently I bought an i5800 (android 2.1-update 1), because I wanted to have rooted phone, I read informations about this on couple sites.
I decided to use z4root.
Now when I connecting my phon to the PC kies shows only Phone+Contacts.
Doesent show any data on the SD, and also doesn't show any informations about version of firmware...
How can I fix this?
Best Regards
v
PS: I also installed Link2SD, AppsToSD and Titanium Backup
update to latest version of kies and also un-install the USB drivers from device manager -> disconnect phone and connect it to other USB port open kies and the driver should install again hope this can fix your problem
Nope, that doesn't work either
Kies updated to 2.0.0.11032_12...
On the phone USB Debug mode disabled, USB Options-> ~Ask after connection.
Kies still does not sees properly the phone, and phone does not shows the window with options Kies,~media player, ~mass storage.....
I had exactly the same (infuriating) problem.
I fixed mine by uninstalling Kies, uninstalling the USB drivers then installing java (I know this shouldn't make a difference, but it seemed to).
I was using Windows 7 64 bit.
I found the Samsung_USB_drivers_for_mobile_phones.exe file & saved this to my desktop (before uninstalling).
I think Kies saves it to program files x86/samsung/kies/usb drivers/
Then after uninstall of everything, then installing java,
right click on the driver and run as an administrator.
When it asks where to install it, place it in the /program files/samsung/kies/usb drivers/ folder (not the x86 version, install it to the normal one).
Then find the Kies install file and right click that & install as an administrator to, but let Kies install this to the x86 program files location (default).
Then when it's completely installed (skip finding media, you can do that later), turn off the phone, then connect it to the USB cable.
Then turn the phone ON and let the drivers install as normal.
Just let it do it's thing and after a while, after all installations are complete, Kies will show your phone & will let you see all the folders, not just the contacts list & will show you the firmware version and everything.
Hope this helps.
I made sure I 'ran as administrator' on both install files.
Not sure which bit helped, but it worked for me (and I've tried everything, believe me)
*EDIT*
google "Why does Samsung Kies not detect my Samsung mobile phone" for the same info
**EDIT** x2
on looking in my /progam files x86/samsung/kis/usb drivers folder, it sems that Kies has reapplied the driver there & removed it from the 64 bit program files path. Ether way, one of the above steps fixed it, perhaps it's just that I ran everything ad an admin, who knows ?
Installation of java wouldn't make any difference, unless the installer was java based. The admin rights might have done the trick.

Actually, ignore my last post.
Kies now cannot see my Galaxy Apollo anymore, (even though every other program on my PC can !! including WMP12 !!)
I'm sick of this.
What's so hard about detecting a connected device ? !!
Sorry for the rant, but I'm getting really annoyed by this piece of software (Grrr !)
Yeah, I do whay you write, it's the same on my pc... now everything is .. not working
I think it's not only a Kies problem+USB drivers but also system on the phon has been changed thats why my phone is not properly working with kies.
Of course, still when I trying to connect my phone to pc I don't see on my phone screen options window that was before z4root/app2sd/link2sd - I mean Kies, media, storage
I see that there is a problem with a part of the Kies - DeviceManager is crashing after phone connecting..
Well now, the only way I can connect, is by (control panel) > uninstall programs > uninstall SAMSUNG USB drivers.
(while the phone is NOT connected).
Then launch Kies.
Then select the menu (tools > install driver)
Then wait while it installs the drivers (again !!)
After waiting for about a minute, I reconnect my GT-I5800 to my PC via the (not so universal) USB cable.
I then wait till all the (your device has been installed) messages stop.
Then I have normal Kies control of my Apollo.
But, if I disconnect it, then try to reconnect it, I get no joy.
It will sit at "connecting" forever.
The only way I can reconnect, is to rinse & repeat.
(I.E. uninstall the drivers & 'GOTO 10', which is really starting to boil my p!ss as I have no idea why this is happening).
Every single piece of poo software on my PC can see my phone, except Kies.
Does anyone have any ideas as it'd driving me mad !! :`(
try this
uninstall kies and all samsung drivers from ur pc
goto download mode (does not need root & it's safe)-(do not open odin)
a list of 3-5 drivers will get installed
then unplug the device, remove and re-insert the battery
install kies then connect ur phone by the usual way
I have the same problem with my phone. An other i5800 can connect successfully with my laptop, KIES and the same cable, but my phone doesn't.
It works...
what I've done....
Back to factory settings in the phone... so just great, the best corrective actions that I ever had :/
I want my HTC Uni back...
*edit*
Kies works 100% ok eaven now sees the update to froyo
so problem was changes that was made by one of the additional software on the phone
Thread can b closed
I also had this problem from long time. I found the reason was the Kies (both 1.5xx and 2.XX) versions are unable to use the default USB driver thats come along with Windows OS.
So the best solution is uninstall the USB driver from Windows device manager and after that install the USB driver from Kies. Then definitely your phone will be recoginized with Kies.
Note: After Uninstalling USB driver and before installing the USB driver from Kies sometimes windows itself tries to install the default USB driver so disable it when its promted.
Hope this helps....

Install latest kies (clean install). Before connecting the phone to usb remove the SD card and start in kies. The phone would be detected and drivers would be installed. Disconnect, reinsert SD card and connect again. Problem will be solved. Worked for me.
hello, i flashed my hd2 many times but i now have an issue. i have windows 7 rom by boyppc_shiftpda v1 installed on my leo. which flashing software do i use to flash my leo so i can install a different rom onto it. the problem for me lies in the fact that when i connect my leo to my computer, zune software automatically starts up and it connects to the phone, unfortunatelly the computer does not recognize the phone as a storage device and does not think it is connected. so every single time i am trying to flash it with any of the DFT soptware i get an error that usb device is not connected.
HELP
You have to boot your HD2 into MAGLDR by holding the end/power button down while booting your HD2 up. When the MAGLDR menu comes up use the volume buttons to scroll down to option#5 USB Flasher and then connect your HD2 via USB cable to your computer. When you see your HD2 listed as MAGLDR in safe to remove you can right click on the DAF and select run as administrator. I also think you have to have ActiveSync or WMDC (ActiveSync for XP, WMDC for Vista and Windoes 7)" installed on your computer for for USB drivers perposes. Not 100% sure about that though but I have read people post that after they reinstalled these programs they had no troubles.
Check this tutorial... Worked for me and has all the relevant links...

Hey,
it is realy easy. but you do not necessarily have to install Active Sync or WMDC ( what ever ). I plugged my Phone into the new installed Windows 7, Switch in the Magdlr and choose USB-Flasher.
Now Windows 7 download the Driver automatically. ( wait a few Minus, i mean 5 )
If installed, rigthklick -> run as admin -> have fun
