Computer problems

My computer will say the driver's are installed, but when I go under my computer to move files, there is no drive listed for my phone. Whats going on here. Using a new hp computer with windows 7. Any help here would be nice.

I have also check the device manager, It is listing it as a t-mobile slide, bla bla bla so I un-installed and re-installed, still no luck, How or what am I doing wrong that the computer isn't listing this as a drive so I can move files?

when you plug phone in, a notification should apear on phone, pull down top bar and see what the USB symbol says next to it, if it says anything other than disk drive then go to settings>connect to pc>disk drive and then hit done

I do not have a usb thing pop up n my phone n the setting are right under the phone

it should be a notification in the notification bar, if you are not getting the notification then you may have a bad port on the computer, is the phone charging when you plug it in?

Try replacing the USB cable if you plug it in and charge light doesn't turn on.

nope, tryed different ports, all are reconizing that the phone is plugged in n the phone charges

Ok, I'm going to try a different computer, I tryed here at work, the computer started installing but I needed admin rights to install hardware so I guess I will try later

Stupid question, but have you tried: from the home screen, if you go to Menu > Settings > Connect to PC, Default connection type, try setting it to Disk drive...

Yes and I have tryed turning it to sync with the program I downloaded from htc, nothing. Now when I plugged it in last night, I noticed that I plugged it into the sata port but it still regonized the phone, deleted the driver n re installed by actually using the usb port but still nothing. So I just tryed my older laptop n it installed the driver, said t mobile slide, phone was chargiing but I still ddnt have the usb pop up on my phone.
I am starting to think somthing is wrong with the phone

Ok this is weird. I used a older laptop with xp n everything works fine. What should I do or download for win 7 to work properly

Unable to add files via mac

hi, i'm a max os x lion user, and when connected, am unable to add any files directly to the phone via osx finder
why's that so?

You have to connect your phone first.
Not just the cable, but in Settings/ Network/ USB programs.
I have a Mac also and it works perfectly.

You have to enable USB hosting on your phone should be a notification when you plug it in, pull down notification bar to confirm. I have OS X Lion as well and know it works.

there's no notification in my phone
method 1
what i did was to first go to setting>network>usb util>connect storage to pc
if i connect the phone first and go to usb util, it'll ask me to unplug it first and go by method 1
So, there is no "auto-detection" of the drive? cos in windows parallel it can detect nicely
is method 1 the only way?

Reboot both devices and wait til both are up and running for a couple minutes.
Then plug the phone to your mac and wait for your phone to recognize.
Phone will then have a notification asking if you would like to connect
via USB to copy files, enable this by selecting, and then agree to turn on USB storage.
All that via phone OS. Then go to your Laptop OS X desktop and there should be a shortcut to your phone as a drive icon.

I'm a mac user. I love them. But I've always had USB troubles (even on my old windows pcs I had trouble - but thats back in the days of XP). Unfortunately all the best bits of mac are deep inside, the external stuff (usb, cd drives) have issues eventually.
my cd drive doesn't burn any more. it is 4 years old now tho.

Cant see phone in Windows Explorer

Hi Guys
I have two identical phones S5's one is a spare so does not have a sim card. The one I use I can plug it into a usb on my computer the computer beeps and it shows up in windows explorer. The second I plug into my computer it peeps the same sound but does not show up in explorer. If I have Device manager open and expand the USB folder it refreshes but no new devices not like the first phone where is refreshes and I see a new entry. Both phones have usb debugging on.
Any ideas
P.S. If I pull down the menu from the top and click on the options for USB then pick Transferring Images (transfer images and other files via a PTPconnectionif MTP is not avaliable) then I can see the phone in Explorer but Odin does not see the phone. If I pick Transferring media files (Transfer media files to a computer via an MTP connection) then the phone dissapears from Explorer.
Whats going on The phone that works of in USB options i pick Transfering media files and all is well whats going on with this second phone

The phone Im having trouble with has updated to 6.0.1 Where the phone that is working is still at 5.1.1

Galaxy s8 will charge with PC but cannot transfer files

Using Windows 10. My Galaxy s8 used to work fine and I was able to use MTP and transfer files and everything. But then one day it suddenly stopped working and I'm not sure why. The only thing that works now is the USB charging. I've tried it on multiple computers and operating systems, and also multiple cables, and it still won't work.
There are no notifications that appear on my PC when I plug in my phone, and on the phone itself, when I plug it in, all that appears is a "settings: cable charging" notification in the status bar.
There used to be an "MTP" option on my phone under USB default configuration, but now all it says is "transfer files" with no mention of MTP.
I've also tried updating all drivers and stuff on my PC but I have a feeling this is a phone issue since it doesn't work with multiple computers.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried rebooting phone,
normally for data transfers you need a cable specifically for data transfer if you have the original samsung cable that it came with and try that.
Alot of the cheaper cables are charging only and will not allow you to transfer.

Question Unable to transfer files from Laptop to Phone 1

I'm unable to transfer the files between my laptop to Phone 1. I'm not able to see the Phone 1 on my laptop. But it's charging from laptop only files Tranfer is not working. Can anybody help me with this ?

Are you getting a notification as charge only or file sharing, when you connect the phone with the laptop through cable?

Restart the phone and check again, if it's not working report the issue!

Try a another cable and have you try to transfer by Bluetooth
Have you installed the Phone(1) drivers? if any?
