install the connection wizard and you are good to go.
and by the way, yes the Questions in the Q&A section.
what the hell is connection wizard and where can i find it? Same issue here.
you look like you need the APN (access point name). To get it you have to call your provider.
for example my APN is "internet" or "vodafoninternet"
after geting it on phone go to "settings" > "cellular" > "edit apn"
good luck
im having the same problem and when i called tmobile about it they said it cant be the apn because i dont have an iphone. please someone help!!

Ok ok, I edited this post because at&t doesn't provide the exact details and there is no thread on here that has all the settings for it.
To get to the connection settings:
Start Menu/Settings/Connections/advanced/select networks/click "new" if media net isn't there or click edit if media net is there/ fill in these settings:
MEdia Net:
General: MEdia Net
Modem:Edit(MEdia Net)/New(Create Media Net):
Name: MEdia Net
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G)
Hit next
Access Point name: wap.cingular
Hit next
Leave first three fields empty(if you know what to put put in but it doesn't really matter)
Hit advanced
Select Use server assigned IP address
Select Use IP Header compression
Servers:
Select Use server assigned address
HIT OK
Hit finished
Proxy Settings:
Select This network connects to the Internet
Select This network uses a proxy server. . . .
Proxy Server: wireless.cingular.com
Hit advanced
Hit HTTP
Port:80
Hit ok
Hit Socks
Server: localhost
Port: 1080
Hit ok
AT&T ISP:
General:AT&T ISP
Modem:Edit(Edit My ISP*Change name to AT&T ISP GPRS*/New(Create AT&T ISP GPRS):
Name: AT&T GPRS
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G)
Hit next
Hit next
Access Point name: isp.cingular
Hit next
Leave first three fields empty(if you know what to put put in but it doesn't really matter)
Hit Finish
Hit ok
Your done with the internet settings
Select MEdia Net then its totally done and to test it out go to
http://device.home/(It wouldn't normally work with out the proxy settings)
Well, I found them.
It's all over Howardforums.com for years if you'd search there.
I searched and nothing. But this is help full for people on here too.

Am sure a few lazy so and so's like...erm me (sometimes) will find this useful. Maybe put some other settings up on this post for other operators. Perhaps worth a look around via search first as its likely to be something that someones already done. But can't be sure.
best

Why not just use a .cab to do it automatically?
This is the one I've been using:

Also, I recently found out I could add MediaNet under My ISP. So now if I have Wifi on, it'll use Wifi. Otherwise it'll use MediaNet.
I had MediaNet seperate so I kept having to change it. Much better this way.

This is something that I've been trying to figure out for a while. How do you add MediaNet under My ISP. I would love to be able to be on the WIFI while at work and then change to ISP when I leave.
thanks,
P

I am also very curious about this.
Settings > Connections > Connections
Advanced tab > Select Networks
With My ISP selected, click "Edit." Then click "New..." at bottom and enter in the MEdiaNet stuff.
Thanks alot for the info. I was having trouble accessing Cingular Video after flashing to Duttys rom.
i was very confused about this and erased all of the connections
why is there Media Net and AT&T ISP GPRS?
I know this is supposed to be for *dummies*
so i guess i am one
But what's the reasoning behind needing two of them?

One is Media Net Access(and the whole internet) and the other one is for tethering.
5 stars!
Thanks, this helped a lot. Now to figure out how to tell my cooked 6.1 ROM that I am on AT&T and not roaming. Seems to be a bug on every 6.1 ROM I have flashed.
WORKS GREAT Thank You!!!

Have you tried searching for the settings in this forum?
It is the only way to learn.
Are there any new settings for at&t? I want to update this.
I was hoping someone would figure out how to manually select a tower in AT&T.

I am not sure if there is anything new but this didn't work for me. I tried this on my Tilt 2 flashed with Sergio76's The Cell ROM v9.5 AT&T (just has the AT&T dialer and nothing else AT&T). I had used a cab that fixed all of the settings to what's in the post except the AT&T ISP which I took care of no problem. However, when I go to Media Mall and search for an app, I'm told there are no results for my handset. I looked at the device ident in the settings and the IMEI is there but the s/n is wiped and I can't edit it. Maybe with a regedit...I dunno. I haven't had the time to try that. It was an idea. There's something that was wiped off the phone that identified my device to AT&T...maybe some sort of hidden proxy or certificate or simply the s/n. I haven't found any Tilt 2 users so far that are able to or even use the Media Mall so I dunno. If anyone else knows something or has figured this out please clue me in. I wouldn't mind being able to get back to the media mall.
Thanks for any help...
I see many people have many issues connecting to the internet using GPRS/Edge as their main connection..this is an easy fix and just so any of you dont post many different questions about this problem here is what you do!!!
Go to Start>Settings>Connections(Bottom Tab)>Connections
Click "Add New Modem Connection"
Enter a name for the Connection: I used "EDGE"
Select a Modem Dropdown shuld be "Cellular Line (GPRS)"
Click Next
The Access Point Name (ASN) is going to be "wap.voicestream.com" (USA)
Click Next
THERE IS NO USERNAME PASSWORD OR DOMAIN!!!!
Click Finish
----------------------------------------------------------------
If it doesn't connect......
Go to Start>Settings>Connections(Bottom Tab)>Connections
Click "Manage Existing Connections"
Hold down on "EDGE" or whatever you named the connection and choose "CONNECT".
APN
Please keep in mind that this is just if you have service through T-Mobile.
Also, if you have T-Mobile Internet you can use internet2.voicestream.com.
If you have T-Mobile VPN you can use internet3.voicestream.com.
What's the difference?
T-Mobile VPN will give you a public IP address.

BTW - I think this thread belongs in the general discussion, not the ROM development thread.
the connection problem is with open touch6 the biggie versions....WE all know how to connect internet ... just had some issues with these ROMS.thanks for trying
BTW like the other guy said PLEASE remove this thread
MODZ....
This post is in general discussion!!
did not work for me man.
i tried it with the new miniColour theme witch uses yahoo weather to get the weather.
let me try internet.
EDIT: internet doesnt work either.
is this for the poeple with the t-mobile 5.99 data plan?
Im pretty sure I have the 5.99/month plan...but I mean Ive been coming across alot of members who flash new roms and the internet doesnt work, so this is for them...come on Al you should know this stuff haha...hows your new rom comin?? any success??
Ok so I downloaded hypersensedroid which i love but the thing is that my 3G internet does not work at all. Is there a possible solution to that?
Check your network settings and APN settings. If APN is blank, you need to fill with t-mobile data settings. search forum for settings. I know the network setting begins with epc.tmobile.com.
Search is a great invention!

Hey,
I just installed WP7, it's all running very smooth but my Wifi doesn't find any networks and I don't know how to set my APN settings.
I read other posts saying go to settins->mobile network and then edit apn. But I only see Add apn which asks for a username and a password?
Help would be appreciated.

Are you T mobile? All I did was put the carriers name. I have T mobile so i put "T-Mobile US" and left the rest blank. Worked for me.
apn
apn: epc.tmobile.com
user name: blank
password: blank
works for me (tmous) been using it for a couple hours. had one random reboot, but all good after that
I had the same problem, I use HI although he suggest i'm on KPN but you have insert in the APN section: portalmmm.nl
Wifi doesn't see any networks at all? Odd.
Wifi's working well enough for me. I did notice some pretty weird stuff, though:
It seems to be impossible to find out your wifi MAC address from within WP7 - I had to browse through my router's logs for it.
Once I found it, though, I soon realized that it was actually useless to know in the first place, since the MAC address seems to change every boot with this ROM (forget about restricting access to your network based on MAC).
While modifying router settings to get the phone to connect, WP7 also froze on me a few times.
WP7 will not connect at all with networks with a hidden SSID.
It would seem there's still some room for improvement on the wifi front.
I've the same problem with Wifi since i flash the OS with a SD cards !If i remove this one, all works fine!
wifi workig great here with conectify as AP. mac is changed on every restart also.
My wifi works and the phone shows a 3g, H etc signal, but I cant sent mms
Prepaid T-Mobile service
I believe the problem with the settings are not for the regular T-Mobile service, but for the Prepaid T-Mobile service (SimpleMobile), there is no place configure the APN with all the necessary settings like: Proxy, Port, MMSC, MMS proxy, MCC, MNC, etc.
If anyone finds a way to setup this values on HD2WP7 please post here.
Thank you in advance
Load the attached connection setup xap and run it, it will automatically apply your carrier settings for 3G and mms. Worked perfect for me (TMoUSA)
How do I load this file? I already tried it from the phone, but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know how I could sync to outlook with my hd2 wp7
When go to settings > celuar, click on automatic, then press manual. When you have done that you see a button sais APN. Click on it and put this in (Vodafone)
APN: live.vodafone.com
user: vodafone
pass: vodafone
All done, now It works (for me anyway). Wifi sucks on some SD cards, don't know wich ones.
Also there is somwhere here a APN list for alot of country's and providers. Search google XDA APN settings or so.
Thing this would work for getting ATT 3G and MMS working?
Yes, as long you as you put youre own providers APN settings It should.
I can't configure the apn settings, and the HTC Connection Setup show me this message: "the carrier doesn't exist in database. Please contact your carrier for connection setting and go to Setting>Cellular>edit APN for further configuration"...
Is there a way add my carrier the the database of the connection setup?
Any luck with the WIFI issue?
I've tried the above mentioned solution by removing the SD C & reboot again but i didn't work for me.
HOW CAN i GET THE 3G OR EDGE WORKING ?
LET ALONE SET THE VPN SETTINGS.i STILL HAVE TO UPDATE THE RADIO COULD THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT?
WENT THROUGH ALL THE STEPS OF FLASHING THROUGH TECH BURROWS LINKS
IM CURRENTLY RUNNING ANDROID BY

OMG, YOU DID AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK?
OMG AND ARE YOU SURE THEY ARE THE RIGHT SETTINGS?
OMG, I CAN'T HELP YOU THEN!
OMG!!!!
No hard feelings. :3
sorry, mine works mine
I would search the general Q&A for something like "APN settings for TMoUS" or something like that. I know there's a thread in here since I just used it again yesterday that gives all the APN settings needed and it should fix the data problem, and make it a not problem.
I had same problem with you. Reason is simple, APN is not set. When i configure APN and register 3G DATA services. My phone connected to 3G successful (HSDPA) ^^
internet2.voicestream.com is the apn for hd2 to work on TMOUS
