Hi, I'm running the 1.72 ROM, and have the 1.66 DSL. Now, I understand that if I wish to install the Windows Phone 7 ROM, I need to downgrade my current ROM to get to the required DSL (1.42.) Is this correct? Also, can you please supply links if you know of the HDSL download, and/ or the downgraded Windows 6.5 ROM
Thanks in advance
it is "spl" not dsl and ......."hspl" not hdsl... your rom is ok, just do these steps:
1.flash hspl3..(hspl2.08)
2. flash radio 2.15.50
3. flash the wp7 rom..with a freshly formatted sd card inside (back up your sd before or try with another sd card)
but first, i think you read the posts and guides clearly....search for the threads

Sorry man, It's just I have been searching everywhere. I was talking to a moderator on another forum and he said I need to get the right SPL version.
And can you talk me through the flashing stuff?

Hi, Searched without luck once again (Can Someone give me the Google Advanced search URL that they use to search the HD2 section?)
I am rather new to flashing and would like to flash to Radio 2.08.50.08_2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632833. I have the following file for the flash: RUU_Leo_Radio_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2.exe
My two questions are:
1: Can I flash just the radio without installing HSPL?
2: If not, Can i revert back to stock SPL after flashing just the Radio ROM?

1) No unless it is made for your specific region which in this case it is not.
2) I wouldnt advice it, why would you need to do so?

Yes, by sd card flashing your original stock rom BUT in doing so you would also flash back the original stock radio.
I'd install HSPL, flash your radio, and then only flash back to stock should you ever need to remove HSPL.
thanks
Thanks for the replies. Thought I should revert to the stock SPL coz I'm scared I forget to reflash should I need to send it in for repairs.
But I suppose I just gotta make a long lasting mental note to do so. Whats the best method of flashing the radio with HSPL? SDCard or PC?
(I am using a zip file with an nbh and a custom RUU rathere than the exe stated above)
stay away from sd card flashing. Theres no need, and it isn't so safe (opinion, im sure there are plenty of people will tell you otherwise, heh).
Instal HSPL, flash the radio from USB, reboot, job done, forget about HSPL even being there unless you need to return it, in which case flash the stock rom from sd card and hspl is gone.
unzip the nbh into a folder(maybe rename it RUU_Signed.nbh, i forget), copy customruu.exe in there too, run customRUU.
check out the videos in here mate it might help you

Actually flashing JUST the radio via microsd card is a very fast and efficient way of doing it as long as it is just the radio image and nothing else. I used to travel quite a bit and had different radios that worked better in different countrys so I had them all saved on my card and then when you want to change radio you can just rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, move it to the root of your microsd card and enter bootloader to flash.
Flashing via microsd card is in essence alot safer as long as you stay FARR away from stock roms.
I would advise you to keep HardSPL on your phone for as long as you can. Its like having a get out of brickville card just in case anything goes wrong. The only way you wouldnt be able to flash back a stock spl is if the screen broke or you dropped your phone and I dont think its going to be covered by warranty then anyway lol.

I did a little searching around the forums but some of the answers posted to similar questions didn't really help, plus most of them were links to other threads.
Ok so heres my situation:
I recently upgraded to 2.13xxxxxx ROM from the T-Mobile HD2 website. Im having difficulty with the touch sensitivity and i have tried a cab file someone posted that tweaks the registry. I guess it worked but anyways. Since Flashing and tweaking i decided i want to revert back to the Stock 2.10xxxxx ROM that came with my phone. I plan on Flashing with custom roms in the future.
My question is simply, what do i need to do to flash my rom from 2.13xxxx back to 2.10xxxx with stock radio 2.8xxxxx. I have visited xmoo's thread with stock roms but im still unsure of what im doing since i just got this HD2 recently.
Heres some additional info,
Currently i run:
2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE ROM
ROM Date: 4/28/10 (Leaked?)
Radio version: 2.10.50.26
When i updated my ROM from 2.10 to 2.13 i use the USB Active Sync method suggested on the Tmobile download website. I didn't flash from the SD Card
EDIT: I went into Bootloader mode and what i see is this:
SPL-2.10.0000 8G XE
Does that mean anything?
I heard a lot of talk about doing something to ur HSPL and SPL or something, but i have absolutely no idea wtf people are talking about lol.
So if someone could give me the details as to how i can flash my rom back to stock, that would be helpful. And yes, i have read the tutorial about flashing your first GSM, still dont get it.
flash via SD card
I did the same thing and what you need to do is take this link and make a folder somewhere and right click on the winrar file and extract here to the folder you made and take the nbh file and rename this (LEOIMG.nbh) and place it on your sd card make sure its on the root of the sd card and not in a folder. Here are some instruction i used.Good Luck,ping33tx P.S remember that you will have to redo the spl and run the hspl again, once that's done your home free to flashing till you get tired of it,lol.
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. If you flash a v2.01 or later Rom (with SPL2.*) you will NOT be able to reinstall HardSPL onto your device and could end up bricking it. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device

EDIT:
I did some searching and found some threads where peoples custom roms are BASE 2.13. Can i just flash those roms on my current version if i don't downgrade to 2.10? Cause if theres custom roms that works with my current version then im more than ok using those.
since im here, im a little confused with why some custom roms say, 6.5.5 or 6.5.X. Does that mean i need windows mobile 6.5.5 to use those roms or does it mean something else?
AND
Ive seen some custom roms that have a number like 23475 (for example), is that the OS build needed to run the rom or the Custom rom's build?
My current build is: 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Thank you everyone for your help!

no, you always need hspl for custom roms.

that's the winmoversion used in the rom. 6.5.3 and 6.5.5 are updates to the current released winmo, 6.5
i think 6.5.3 is just about being shipped but .5 isn't official yet.
the big difference is the start button on the bottom of screen and slightly more finger friendly menus.

that's the windows build used in the rom. 21xxx is 6.5 and i think 23xxx is 6.5.3, but there are more than three builds.
Almost the similar issue
I had a stock tmobile hd2. I never did any customizations to the phone or any kind of hard spl. Today I installed the tmobile official update that set my SPL to 2.10 making it incompatible with the hardspl tool.
I want to just flash a stock rom through the sd card, and revert the spl back to 2.08 so it can be compatible with the hardspl tool and then I can install the energyROM.
I downloaded the 2.01 stock rom from the rom thread in the leo forum, and right before I was going to rename the file and flash the SD card I read a post above saying that if I revert this back to a stock SPL version, and then try to run hardSPL, I will brick my phone. Is that true??
Suggestions??

flash 2.10.0 from sd card to reset spl to 2.08
You don't need to flash 2.10.0 from sd card to reset from 2.10 SPL to 2.08 SPL. You can flash 2.10.0 over activesync (using the .exe linked to in xmoo's thread) and the SPL will be reverted to the 2.08 version.
Thank you to everyone who posted and a special thank you to samsamuel for clearing things up. Maybe this thread will come in handy for people wondering the same thing.
Gonna move you over to General, also closing since issue has been resolved..

whick HSPL is best for my hd2!?!?! and which radio version!?!?
Can i install hspl without storage card!?!?!?thanks(and sorry for my silly questions....im noob )
Yes
How about details of your phone, ROM, Radio ROM, operator
HTC HD2 LEO
OS: 5.2.21869(21869.5.0.82)
MANILA: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.48.482.4(71294) ELL
IM NOT SURE IF ITS RADIO: 2.05.51.05_2
do you want these?!
i want to install them without Storage card.... because i havent!!! i ll buy one....!! can i install costum rom without card!?!?!
Since you haven't got the American T-Mobile version of the HD2, then you can play about with custom ROMs (make sure you first flash the radios the chefs select).
The American T-Mobile version is vulnerable to being bricked if the wrong radio or ROM installed.
Prior to doing any of this install the latest version of HSPL. This allows custom ROM and also enables you to be back to 'as shipped' condition if you have to return it under warranty.
Please read the excellent guide for flashing for noobies in the ROM section. Then importantly, read it thoroughly again.
(make sure you first flash the radios the chefs select) what do you mean with this?!
can i install hspl without SD Card yeah?!?!
can i install rom without sd card?!?!?!
ALL VIA WMDC!!!
and if i stop in hspl stage, the phone will work fine?!?!
because i read that if i want to install a costum rom i should have sd carfd....

You don't need a microSD card to flash, as it can be done via the pc (activesync on XP and WMDC on Vista and 7). The SD Card method should only be used if you have serious problems and cannot connect to the pc.
You can just hspl your phone and it will still work the same as it did.
You can then flash either a HTC (unbranded) ROM v1.66 or you can go for one of the custom ROMs.
The HTC ROM includes the main ROM and the Radio ROM. If you use this one, then you can flash a newer Radio ROM after.
If you want to flash a Custom ROM then the people who create them will have tested them with specific Radio ROMs to make sure that they run well. SO if you want to flash a custom ROM, then after hslp-ing the phone you have to flash the Radio ROM they suggest. Once this is done then flash the custom ROM.
i ll install hspl3... but in this step (*You can select between SPL2.08.0000 or 2.08.HSPL) which one?!!?
2.08HSLP. This allows you the option to install custom ROMs (although you don't need to install a custom ROM).
SPL2.08 only allows mobile operator ROMs and HTC ROMs.
I have installed 1.42 HSLP (because HSLP 1 was all that was available at the time) and installed HTC 1.66WWE (World Wide English). The reception wasn't that great so I flashed 2.10.50.08.2.
I would flash a custom ROM, but the standard HTC one works fine for me.
Hi , ?
i have an hd2 branded to orange FR (rom 3.14 and spl 3.03) but it's unlocked (by a friend)
my question is , i have this file RUU_Lerange_FR-B2B_1.72.73.3_radio_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship (1).exe , how can i install that ? i want to put windows phone 7 so i need Hspl that don't work with my spl , so how can a install that rom ?
You must downgrade your Rom to a Rom with an SPL 2.10 or lower in order to install HardSPL 2.08. Try to find a 1.48, 1.66 or 1.72 Rom from your carrier and flash via micro SD Card to downgrade the Rom and SPL, then install HardSPL 2.08 and flash a new Radio to meet the requirements for flashing Magldr.

Quote from this thread, highly recommendable for you anyway - the procedure for WP7 is the same like Android NAND.
How to flash via SD card can be found here.
And please use the search function in the future.

but for this sd method i have to have Hspl ? or i can flash now ?

No need for HSPL to flash the older Orange ROM onto your device via SD card. Just follow the tutorial step by step.
The process will replace the newer SPL with the older version, then you will be ready to flash 2.08.HSPL, the correct Radio ROM 2.15.50.04, and finally MAGLDR before going to WP7.
All information you need is available in the links I put in my first answer.
phone into bootloader
connect usb
wait for serial to change to usb
run the .exe
I came across an HD2 with a broken USB port... ie i cannot charge through it or send/receive data through it. I can still use the phone by having a spare battery and an external battery charger
is there a way to install android on this without needing the USB port?
you need usb to install hspl, magldr and recovery....rom can be installed through sdcard...but to get there u need a usb..
changing usb port is easy if you know little bit of soldering and a spare usb head (you can get this in radioshack)...but u should know wat u r doing ...else u might damage the device
If you have HSPL installed, then you are lucky. You can Install cLK 1.5 from SD card with built-in recovery. Download from here.
Yeah, just dl clk1.5, extract the zip, copy the leoimg.nbh file to your sd, startup your mobile, press and hold the vol down key before starting (for ttricolored screen), and let it install clk (tricolored screen shoukd turn automaticly into grey and ask you if you want to install the.nbh file). Cwm comes with clk. And you can change the cwr(clockwork recovery) size via clk perfect ffor broken usb devices

Hi folks, I have a similar situation with a broken usb of a HD2. My radio is 2.05.51.05_2 and the SPL is 1.42.000. I don't have HSPL and I was wondering whether I can install any rom on it (wm6.5 or android). I am new to wm6.5, thus any suggestions would be great!

Unfortunately you can't install NAND Android as you can't install HSPL, however you can run SD Android. Just update to the latest stock ROM 3.14 via your SD card (search for a guide, something to do with downloading the package and renaming one of the files [I think RUU_Signed] to leoimg.nbh and flashing in bootloader). This will give you the required/compatible radio. Then just download an SD build, place it on the root of your SD card and run CLRCAD and HARET.
Thanks so much for the quick reply!
I have already tried this approach with Artemis_v370_0409_WWE rom, but the phone gets stuck at "Loading..." on a gray screen. I also downloaded RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe but as you might guess it was of no use due to the broken usb. Do you have any idea where I can find a stock 3.14 rom that can be installed as a .nbh?
Cheers

Here I think the process is the same, a custom ROM such as Artemis won't work as it requires HSPL
Thanks! The guide provides a link for for an official rom only in the end when stating "So, assuming you have flashed an official ROM over 2.10 via the SD card and you decide you want a custom ROM, follow these simple directions:
(You do not have to have your phone connected to your PC for these steps)
Download the "Official" ROM from here."
Yet, my rom is only 1.48. Should I flash it anyway?

I don't think it matters, but courtesy of mskip's tutorial here you can see that you have to:
- Download a shipped Rom from *HERE*
- Rename the extension to .zip
- open it with winzip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh file to a folder
- Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of a microSD card thats been formatted to FAT32
- Insert your storage card into your phone
- Enter Bootloader and follow onscreen instructions to flash
Thanks big time!!!
Lastly, which rom should I download? I heard some nasty things about bricking your phone by installing 2.08 or >2.10 through the sd method, but I didn't quite understand it...

Neither do I but if you've read about those issues then best not to do that. Basically use any ROM with a .50 Radio (it'll be in the name of the ROM) and you will be able to use SD Android
i dont think so....
Well, in fact, I was able to install wm6.5 v3.14 after I contacted HTC and they told me I need a Czech rom (?! ). After that my radio was 2.15.50.xx and now I am able to boot perfectly any SD Android rom! That's what I call a transformation!
The only problem I encounter is with Skype on every rom - it crashes and the mic works improperly.
