i seem to be having some difficulty and was wondering if anyone else is as well...I can't seem to connect to the server to stream SiriusXM on my Inc...only happens on the newer Z-based roms...I can connect to the server, but i cannot stream the media via 3G, wifi works fine, and if I connect on wifi, then turn wifi off, it works on 3G, but if I lose the connection on 3G, it won't re-connect...
it works great on the HD port from IncDoes...but the newer ports are all coming from the Z port, and that is where the problem seems to stem from.
anyone else having this issue? (i haven't tried streaming anything else since I don't use any other apps to stream...i will try that out on the newest builds)

are you running the Sirius XM 1.1 app? there was an issue that was addressed for 3G streaming.
Only issues i've ever ran into was repeating of the same content when it lost connection and connection was re-established it would still repeat up to the point where it lost connection from the point the channel was cached.
it could also be a server issue, ever since they launched the app they've had nothing but problems with there server cutting in and out, losing connection, quality took a nosedive etc. I think its the limitations they set in the app itself, i seriously (pun intended) wish someone in the android community would develop a better app.
I listen to my app from my phone while i'm at work and seeing how i just let it stream for a few hours, it eventually asks "continue streaming?" while yes i agree its a nice feature for THEM to keep server load down but what about us legitimate users that use it while working and don't want to keep messing with the phone / app to just listen.

Love my N1.
But when i have connected to my Wi-Fi, YouTube won't load any videos.
It wont access Facebook properly at times. For instance thumbnails does never show. It is worse on FB via Browser.
However when i connect to 3G, everything is peachy.
Is there something wrong with my router?
Is a netgear Rangemax with latest FW.
Running Stock 2.1 at the moment.
EDIT:Now it works fine. But it was like that since this morning. What can cause this?
Did you have problems using your Wi-Fi at the time on a different machine, i.e your PC? It might your ISP and not your phone. Since using 3G is technically a different ISP provider so your home ISP might had a temporary problem.
Another common Wi-fi problem that might occur all of a sudden is when your neighbour decides to buy a brand new wi-fi router and uses the same channel as your router, thus getting interference.
I have this weird problem with (tunewiki, xiialive, any streaming radio app) where they fail to connect to shoutcast or any other streaming audio. My slingplayer and most every other app connects and plays perfectly fine! Im super stumped on this, could it be a connection problem?
Can you tell us a bit more about how you are connecting i.e. via wi-fi, 3g etc. ?
I ask as I had issues with my firewall blocking/filtering some streaming traffic.
Also what os are you running, 2.2. rooted etc?
Yes, sorry about that im on Ava's v5 ROM it works over wifi but not over 3g...it was working fine the other day, therefore Im assuming its a 3g connection issue...
I had this problem. It happens most frequently when you've just changed the vocoder settings (EVRC/-B, 13K, etc.) or anything really in the EPST settings. You have to wipe your data and cache in order to get streaming over 3G to work again.
Crazy, but true.
I have tried to search for an answer to this with no real success. I believe that it is possible to connect a USB 3G dongle such as Huawei E1750 to an MK809 such as Justop K9. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm that? Then I would like to know if it is possible to then share that 3G connection via wifi tethering to other devices.
Basically I'm trying to combine 3G modem and wifi router into a hdmi stick/dongle. If anyone has tried this I would be interested to hear their experience. If it is someting that is really not practical then I more than likely will give it a miss. I would need to use this as my "main" internet connection, although I wouldn't consider myself a "power user" I do stream youtube and online such as BBC iPlayer. I have had good experience with wifi tethering using my old HTC HD2 (flashed with android 4.0) and can get 4Mb connection speeds which allows me to stream no problem.
If this works well I would then be connecting a usb hard drive and using webdav server app to share the contents to my other devices.
I would appreciate any guidance! :good:
P.S. I notice that I'm not supposed to post questions in here, but I can see a few questions already within this section and it seems like the best place for this question to me. Mods, please move it if you need to.
I think it could be done as long as the router has a connection but just a bit of info, I watch YouTube quite a bit maybe 4-5 20/30min vids a day and in the past 7 days YouTube has used probably 12gig of data. Since everything is HD. I know a lot of dongles have data limits. IPlayer doesn't work great these devices for now you have to use the flash version and its a little buggy. Its best to get it from xbmc add on.
Oh and the 808 doesn't have tether not sure about the 809

Thanks for the reply.
It's a virgin media contract I'm looking at. Supposedly truly unlimited according to vm themselves and can be used to tether. I got my dad one and he uses it to tether his laptop and ubisurfer when away. It works very well when I've tried it myself.
Thanks for the tip about tethering on 808. I imagine this is just a software limitation? It was possibly never considered when the rom was built. I think there are Google play apps that will enable this on phones that didn't have it as an original option. I'm hoping it will work in a similar way.
Xbmc will be on my list. I assume it's possible to side load flash onto these things.
Can't answer your 3g question but just bought the mk809 justop k9 and it comes pre installed with flash. Have xbmc installed and it works brilliantly with streaming from my server, an app called tvcatchup and all the usual on demand add ons.

yes that would be interesting. I know that a lot of usb devices are supported. tried a webcam on it. Works perfect in combination with skype. for wath I read. its also possible to use a usb to lan adapter. maybe an option for the poor reception.
but a 3g dongle. got to see that.

Thanks for that. It is nice to hear a positive review about the Justop K9 as I was considering one anyway. This project might just save me some money having to buy other equipment. Would you be able to try whether you can install one of the free non root wifi tether apps from the play store? Obviously there would be no internet connection, but if you can establish a wifi hotspot and connect a phone to it then it's a good sign.
As for the USB to ethernet, I have a couple of those connectors spare. I'm aware you can use them on various android devices to give them an internet connection, but I don't know whether the reverse is true? Is it possible to share a 3G connection to the USB, and via the ethernet connection to a separate wifi router for instance? I can't find a good answer to that. I'm gonna have a play with my TF700 and see what I can accomplish!
Regards,
John
No need to install an app, android 4 onwards supports wifi tethering natively. Just needed to go into the 'more' menu and set up from there. Managed to connect easily with my Sony Tablet but, as you say, couldn't browse as the stick wifi was being used to tether.
Spoke too soon on the on demand stuff, seems itv player, 4od and 5od have been messing around with their encryption so the xbmc add ons have stopped working, I'm sure the devs are working on it. Iplayer add on still works and there is a work around using firefox anyway.
Can't help with your other query I'm afraid, sorry.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but the issue started with the nexus player, so I figured I'd try here.
My girlfriend and I were watching a TV series on netflix, on my nexus player, when it started having a connection problem. I've had my nexus for about 6 months and have never had an issue with it before.
I can get onto netflix on the nexus player, and browse the titles, but as soon as I try to play something, it tells me my device may not be connected to the internet. If I do the network test, it shows a good test for all 3 netflix servers, and the internet connection. I can watch netflix on my laptop just fine over wifi, but of course, if I try to stream the tab.... it opens the netflix app which says it can't connect. (I tried uninstalling the netflix app and streaming the tab, but it just tells me I need to install the netflix app)
Finally I tried installing netflix on my galaxy S5, and it also wouldn't stream anything, until I turned off wifi.... then it worked fine. I have tried everything I can think of and have read to try to fix this. I've changed my router to send default ISP DNS servers to devices, I've tried setting google DNS servers, I've checked time zone settings, I've cleared netflix app data, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've done a factory reset.... nothing will work.
If it's an issue with router settings, I don't understand why it works fine on my laptop. I had made no changes to my network or any of my devices' configuration when it stopped working.
Does anyone have any idea why this would only affect android devices, and only over my wifi? I have no idea what else to try.

You cleared app data, what about the app cache? Also do you happen to be using a vpn service like unblock-us, I had a similar issue one time when my region had been changed from usa to uk on the website and then it was telling me I couldn't connect. Good luck.

Yeah when you clear data, it also clears the cache. I also uninstalled and reinstalled, and even did factory reset. I'd never had it on my phone until today and no go there... .and like I said, only on WiFi. Yet it works fine on my laptop over WiFi. On my Galaxy S5 it works on cellular fine. This is the weirdest issue I've ever run into.
I've worked as a computer/network tech since 2005, and while I may not be the most knowledgeable guy around, I can usually figure out any network related issue... but I don't know what the difference would be between the android apps and the browser app. I figure if it's not the app it would have to be something with my router/firewall... but I have no idea what.
UPDATE
It's definitely something to do with my router config. I have the same router/access point set up at home as we have at work, and we also have the same internet plan aside from this being a business account. But it's the same ISP, and same Up/Down speed. I just tried it at work over wifi on my phone and it works fine.
It could also be your ISP. Business account traffic is treated differently than residential account.
Ok I got it fixed. I still have no idea what the hell the problem was. I couldn't find any firewall rules that could have caused the issue. Nothing had changed in my set up and it just suddenly stopped working in the middle of watching one day. I considered the ISP being an issue, but my girlfriend also has COX internet, and she had no issues at her house on her blue ray player or phone on her wifi, and like I said before... it still worked on my laptop at home.
I think some kind of bug just popped up in pfsense. I did a factory reset on it and now everything's working fine. Still the weirdest issue I've ever encountered. It still worked fine on my laptop, but not on any android (on wifi), or maybe mobile and not android was the factor? I don't own apple products so I couldn't test that.
Hi, I would like to use my S8 to livestream my gopro (with a self made app based on FFmpeg), for that I need to be connected to the GoPro stream via WiFi and I need to use my cellular data (LTE) to send it to a streaming server.
In my test I noticed this phone is unable to keep both connection open at the same time, it was not the case on my previous LG G4, I was also able to test on a nexus 5X where it worked successfully, so I blame the samsung software (PS: I just did an update, didn't change anything).
I tried every options (and combination possible), keep cell data, agressive wifi/cell, both in dev' settings, also smart wifi (agressive or not) in regular settings... And it didn't change anything (the smart thing only either fully disable the wifi connection to local only wifi or connects fully to it and awaits internet connection).
I found this thread on samsung forum https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...internet-while-connected-to-GoPro/td-p/185875 with no answer...
Do you guys have any solution?
Quick edit: I did try to use "Download booster" thing but it doesn't help, it seems the phone is still using the wifi for DNS, I tried with and without smart switch thing... They really didn't think about people using WiFi without internet connection voluntary??
Thanks
same problem here, i don' t know how to fix it. you can share your code? with other guys we are trying to do a solution to live stream gopro on android , if you want i'll link it to you
It cannot be done as we cannot change our IP, Default Gateway, or Subnet on our WiFi.
With iOS you can, thus why iOS users can use the GoPro and LTE simultaneously.
Enjoy.
