Hi all,
Having a problem getting Android to run on my Telstra HD2. I do the following:
+ Run CLRCAD; all good
+ Run HARET; all good until -- 5 or 6 lines of the linux screen appear and then it hangs, or the screen goes blank depending on the Android build that I try running.
I have an Australian HD2 with the following specs:
Model: T9193 (Telstra)
OS: 5.2.21869
R: 2.07.51.22_2
G: 15.32.50.07u
D: 1.72.82124
I am using the standard SanDisk 16Gb Micro-SD card. I have tried a number of Android builds from gamesquare.co.uk with no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this running on the stock Telstra ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Peace..
Probably need to upgrade your rom
and radio. Look at some signatures of people who say their build is working good.
I didn't really want to upgrade the ROM and radio since it'd void my warranty..
RE: Telstra woes
I notice you are running 2.07.51 radio. I reckon it's your radio to be honest. I run 2.12.50.02_2 on mine. I have had problems with radios other than x.xx.50.xx radios. There is a link somewhere in here to all the working radios (I think in the definitive guide. Don't worry about warranty issues, if you ever need to deal with that, just flash back to the factory rom (but I take no responsibility .
Cheers
Definitely need to change the radio. You need a .50 radio. That also means you need to put HSPL on the phone. However, be aware that Android is not very stable yet. I couldn't get WiFi working and had all sorts of problems getting it to talk with Outlook. Went back to stock Rom highly modified (CHT etc)
Hmmm indeed the radio could be the problem. I use the 2.07.50.22_2 radio (although my G and and D values are also different from yours) and I've had no problems.
This way if anything catastrophically goes wrong with your phone and you're unable to flash the old radio back hopefully they won't notice
EDIT: Forgot about HSPL, thanks iandg.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to bite the bullet... I've just installed HSPL; no problems.. Now to find a radio update..

really? you had that much problems with it dude? I'm still a noob here but I must say that I'm having a really good experience with it at the moment.
My config seems to be working pretty good. Try this....
ROM is NRGZ maxsense rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
Radio:
2.12.50.02_2
Android build is [BUILD][25.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b][Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70]:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545
I have actually been using this as my main OS for the last 2 builds and it is really usable now. I have it syncing direct to my outlook server at work no probs at all (IT have hijacked it with security policies, but this is understandable). Other than that I reckon the DEVs here are absolute geniuses with how well this stuff is running.
Hope this is of some help

e1design, I have the same phone in the States on AT&T. Feel free to use my links below in my sig to get what I'm using. It works just fine. I haven't been on WinMo in weeks.
Done
Firstly, thanks for the replies in this thread.
I have to say that I've read it many times before: "Try the search function" - well it works wonders. With the information posted in thtis thread I was able to piece it all together and I now have Android on my HD2!
There are still a couple of things to iron out [WiFi, battery life and such] but in all a very worthwhile exercise.
Thanks again to the thread responders, and if you're in the same place as I was a week ago wanting to get Android on your HD2 - search on the keywords in this thread and you'll find it's as easy as can be.
Androis on T9193
Am totally thrilled to learn Android can be installed on the T9193.
Where are the best locations to source ROMs?
Suggestions on which are better and why?
Steps to Android..
Look at my sig and go from there..
I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm wondering if any of you using a Telstra HD2 on AT&T (Cingular for me) here in the US have a stable Android install? I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I love Android but I can't get a configuration that will run longer than about 10 hours most of the time. I've gone through all the radios from 2.12.50.02_2, 2.14.50.02, and 2.15.50.14. I've switched my Windows Mobile ROM from Dutty CDLC v15 to OzDroid v1.11, I've switched my Android build from mattc froyo sense v1.8 to froyostone sense v3.2. I've gone through a couple different Linux kernels, currently on hastarin #8. No matter what I do I end up with about a 10 hour life before the device hangs. I have seen improving PPP performance with the different radios and kernels, but the overall device stability is the biggest problem. Could anyone using the Telstra HD2 for Android please post the configs that worked from them on their devices and include what kind of uptime you've achieved? I'm hoping this would really help me. Thanks in advance.
Ok For me I have the telstra HD2 and this is my Config.
Pretty much the latest of everything
- MAGLDR1.13
-Latest HSPL
-TyphoonN_CM7_v2.4.4.zip
- Radio 2.15.50.14
- Clockwork mode recovery v1.3
Just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Hope that helps.
Hello all. PLEASE DON`T BE RUDE....
I know that there were probably 100`s of people before me making threads like mine. I just have a few questions and we can delete the thread.
I just got my HTC HD2 a few days ago, and i`m a total noob (lol) in all these rom, radio, etc stuff. I have a small issue of my HTC being slow sometimes, and windows media player working very slow.
1st. Question (most important) :
What is the fastest, most bug free ROM for the build of my phone?
I have HTC LEO. 1024MB. T-Mobile. USA.
OS Version:
5.2.21892
Manila Version:
2.5.20121412.2
ROM version:
2.13.531.1 WWE
Radio version:
2.10.50.26
2nd. Question:
Can Somebody explain or direct me to the thread on the cad (i think thats what they are called) files? How can i add more apps in the phone that i would like? And is there a place that has bunch of free apps for HD2? thank you.
THANK YOU ALL!!!
Also what is the difference between a ROM with HTC messaging or without it?
I like the NRG ROMs, the looks and such. The Max Sense UI looks cool.
But i want something that is very fast, doesn't have the unnecessary
apps, and that looks good.
Also is there a way to have custom boot screens, and other themes?
I don't have much time but..
EnergyROMs were just updated and feelin pretty fast, download the Reference version (some apps removed). HTC messaging looks nicer but tends to be slower. your current radio should be fine but if you consider switching try 2.12.50.02 | Other ROMs to look at: UnOff series, Dutty's cdlc, MiriROMs, LIA ROMs.
And remember to READ and SEARCH.
My phone was lagging more and more and the original ROM, so i went ahead and just did it
I installed a NRG Cookie GTX.
IT IS AWESOMELY FAST AND VERY VERY NICE
Still have the original radio.
Should i change the radio? and also now for my other question, where can i get more
themes and such things for the phone? and also, if anybody thinks there is a better ROM that doesnt look too close to the original, and is good for performance speed and such, please let me know
themes and apps,,, hmmm, well, its a long shot but the "HD2 themes and apps" section might have a few.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531
you are fine using the regular hd2 section themes and apps, its only roms and radios that you should stick to this tmous section for.
id use what i have in my signature. very fast, completely reliable. no freezes.
Asking which ROM is best is like asking which Beer is the best.... it's all a matter of opinion
That being said, ALL of the ROMS listed so far are better then stock... they all get rid of the bloatware that T-Mobile/HTC loads on the device, and they all add tools & utilities that make using the phone much more enjoyable.
To be honest, your BEST resource for ROMs, Radios, Apps, tweaks and such would be to first read
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663845
then do a search on the forum here... There's an XDA marketplace app that's getting better & better, and there's the Windows Mobile section that lists applications that are available.
if, after you do a search on the forum for "app xyz that does abc" and you can't find anything... feel free to ask, if something exists for it I'm sure someone here knows about it

Custom Roms make a difference, but the biggest difference for me was getting a better and faster Micro SD card. The class 2 that comes with is laggy because, well, it's a class 2. Class 6 16GB cards can be found relatively cheap.
crisisinthecity thank you for an advice on that part, and thank to everyone that helped out.
Hey guys i want to send one of my phones back to t-mobile. Is there a way to flash it back to stock? so there would be no trace that it had a custom rom?
run hspl3 choose 2.08.0000
download the 2.13 rom (from here or t mo website)
flash it over usb
done
umm i`m such a noob at these stuff.. can anybody give me a link for a stock rom download? please...
I don't want to be an ass but it's so easy to find...
T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 > T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development > [ROM]Leo 1.5 T-MOBILE Test & Stock ROMS[NEW 3.14!!]
Hi,
I have successfully downloaded and lunched described in the subject version of Android. I have launched Android (previously launching clrcad) and everything worked fine till I have noticed that in the random period of time my phone is rebooting. It looks like you take out battery and put it again. It is happening regarding this latest version only. When I had froyo sense 1.7 nothing like that ever happen on WM also. I have upgraded my ROM and radio to the versions described below but the problem still exists. I will be very gratefull for any ideas what is the reason of such behaviour.
kernel 2.6.13.15
SPL-2.08,
OS version 5.2.219
Manila Version 2.5.2
ROM version 3.14 (recently upgraded)
Radio 2.15
Er, you might be better off asking in the Touch HD2 Anroid forum; this is the general Android Development forum.... ;p
I tought that maby some of you met kind of problem and know solution.
Hi all,
I was wondering if you guys could help me getting Android on my HD2.
I've been digging this forum for several weeks now, there is so much information that I don't know what to do!
I've got a European HD2, not the T-Mobile one. The reason I would like to have Android running on it is because Windows 6.5 hangs quite often and it's too slow in my opinion.
After finding out how to check my SPL version, I found that I have 3.03.0000. Is it actually possible to run Android on it?
I've also seen some topics about dual boot and switching back and forth between Android and WM. That's not a requirement for me, I actually prefer just running Android without having the opportunity for WM.
Some specification which I don't know it's useful, but I'll post them anyway;
- OS Version; 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
- Manila-Version; 2.5.20181527.0
- ROM Version; 3.14.404.2 (04666) NLD
- ROM Date; 10/06/10
- Radio Version; 2.15.50.14
I would appreciate your help a lot!
Kind regards,
Jerome
Flash from SPL to HSPL might going to work, but work better with custom ROM along with the HSPL.
Some user reporting that they can run Android with their stock ROM and SPL, but I don't know. Try it. You should wait a few minute for the first boot....possible at least 5.
If it don't work, then I hope you use the statement I mention in the first sentence.
Could you tell me what do you and what SPL and HSPL is exactly?
I don't have much knowledge yet, but I'm willing to learn!
Thank you for your reply anyway!
If you are willing to learn then you best option is to actually read the threads that already exist instead of creating a pointless one.
First go into the HD2 Rom thread and learn how to get HSPL on your phone and a custom rom and updated radio.
After yu have done that come back to the Android sections and learn how to boot android.
First.. Check what ROM you have currently. By the looks of it with radio 2.15.50 you look to have the latest ROM from HTC installed. Unfortunately there is no HSPL Software for the latest ROM from HTC so you will have to downgrade your rom which will let you use HSPL3 (Linkage)
SPL is the "software" on your phone that stops you flashing non HTC Roms. You use a utility called HSPL (above) to install HSPL on your phone to enable you to flash a custom rom.
Once you have HSPL on you can them flash a custom rom from the forums. I use the OzDroid 1.11 as it has been very stable at running android.
Once that is Flashed to your phone you will need to choose which android version you require. I use MDJ FroYo HD V4.3. Download it and copy the ANDROID folder onto your SD Card.
Re-boot OzDroid and you will be presented with the Choose screen. Windows or Droid. Select Android and it will boot into android. You will need to wait 5-15 mins for android to boot on first run.
Hope this helps.

man its not that easy, if someone has little background knowledge in all this all the unfamiliar information and new terms can be too confusing. Sometimes you just have to ask questions...
...although i do understand that there are probably thousands of posts started by asking the same exact questions ("which is the best android rom for HD2")and that can actually make it that much harder to wrap ones head around.
Do you need WM ROM, or can u run just Android?

Q: Do you have to load a "custom rom", I assume you mean WM ROM?
Isn't there a way to load Android straight onto the EPROM Memory of your phone, so that only Android runs and not the full WM in the background? Surely that would save RAM and battery?
I found this thread useful, also trying to wade thru the info.
Thanks

no there isnt a way to do this yet without WM on the phone as well.
however, the "full WM" is not running in the background, its just needed to get the linux module started and then boot Android. Nothing is really "running in the background" but it is running from the sd card.
hope some of this helps.

Is there then a way to get both android and WM on the ROM of the HD2. Since its about 512MB, there won't be space for much else, but that should save the battery, since android wont be running from the SD card.
5haddex;
Thank you so incredible much on helping me here! I've got OzDroid running now, it looks awesome already, now I need to find my preferred Android built, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Again, thank you so much!
I've got OzDroid up and running now, works great too!
But when I try to boot into Android with the provided CleanDROID, or with CLRCAD and hared, the phone hangs after showing the command line;
Jumping into custom kernel...

Even when I let the phone untouched for 6 hours, it won't do anything.
I've tried several Android builds, also trying to "repair" startup.txt with CleanDROID which gives me an error too.
Any thoughts? Maybe try another custom rom? Any tips or links on that one?
Cheers
edit;
what about the EnergyROM with Sense 2.5 Reference?

Anybody please?
I would appreciate your help a lot!
Different Android builds don't fix the problem too. HSPL 2.08 running..
I've changed my radio to 2.10, the HD2 proceeds to the HTC booting logo, but stays there for an hour now...
Any ideas?
Dear Developers, I am a noob and want to install Android on my device, have done a lot of research on this topic but can't find any suitable ROM.
I am having HD2 with the following Configuration:-
ROM Version- 1.43.110.2 (70315) WWE
ROM Date- 10/28/09
Radio Version- 2.04.50.22_2
Protocol Version- 15.26.50.07U
Manilla Version- 2.5.19202525.0
OS Version- 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
Can anybody tell me how can I port Android 4.0(In SD CARD) with HTC Sense into it. Which ROM will be suited and how can i put that ROM. Or is there any method like- getting Original HD2 ROM and then after that all ROMs support the device?
Every time I search on internet I get confused and sometimes scared about DEAD HD2s. I really love my phone, the only problem is that it doesn't support .NET3.5 Framework and because of that there are very less apps available. Once I get android, my phone will shine like a diamond.
I am really not that concerned of HTC Sense what I want is Android 4.0 or 2.3 with all functions properly working.
Regards,
Arun Wadhwa
You need to read a lot....you have the first original rom and radio version....
Simple things...1.update your rom to latest (god its been 2 yrs since I used wm6.5...I don't remember exactly .was it 3.03 or.3.14 rom? I think ..it has radio 2.15)..
Then flash hspl4....then use the native SD method to get the latest ics or jelly bean rom from the native SD thread....best and fastest sd rom
Search in xda ..not in Google..all the best..
Read android stickies in the forum
Also..hd2 supports net3.5...I had the cab file too ...but it is somewhere on my PC...iam on my tab now....search in xda

You are right, the last WM room is 3.14 and 2.15 radio
You can find here: http://www.htc.com/es/help/htc-hd2/#download
The change of the room should no be dificult but also depends if your phone company have put some kind of lock in the phone other kind of problem so I´m not going to lie you saying that there is no risk.
About the android room you have 2 choices:
1- Replace WM system by Android, so your phone will be Android
2- Use WM and load Android as a program, so you phone can work with both systems.
I recommend, at least at he beginning, the second one as you don´t take risks if you don´t like Android, you only have to delete the archive
There are several Android 4.0 rooms for SD card, here you have a compilation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401767
Choose whatever you like.
HOW TO INSTALL?
As always, when you 3 times is very easy but at first you are lost. Ok, here some help:
1- Download the chosen ROOM and extract it.
2- You will find a folder called Android, copy the folder to your SD card. (Don´t put inside any other folder)
The SD card have to be at least 2 Gb and preferably fast (class 6 o more)
3 - Read VERY WELL the instructions of the room in the web page. Also the comments.
4- Now we launch the room
4.1 In WM explorer open the folder and execute "clrcad.exe", nothing apparently happens but is important for the noise
4.2 We execute Hater.exe and Android will be launch :good:
We wait around 10 -20 minutes, maybe more (depends of the room and SD card speed) while the system is configured Will appear some letters at first, later maybe a logo and finally Android.
5. In some Rooms you have to let "rest" the system 10 minutes more and sometimes reboot (read the instructions)
6. Enjoy.
The better of this is that your WM system get untouched, so nothing wrong is going to happend to our phone, also with a little trick you can have several rooms for test at he same time, but step by step. Try this and if you have any problem commet.
Good luck
