I have been using WM based device over five years and now, I would like to try something new.
It seems that the HTC Click is an easy start with Android, but I am just curious that is it ever possible to flash WM6.5 rom on Click just in case I cant get use to Android?
I'm no chef or developer or anything but my guess would be no.
Been using HTC diamond for last two years and they havn't fully got android working on that because of driver issues, so cannot see WM working on an even newer phone.
wtf would you wanna do that for?
that too lol
jamezelle , man ask some simple and logical question. why f word here? are you payed from somebody? millions are used to windows mobile. meaby only percent want not to change habits and you attack many people for no reason.
i also want to buy tatto , here is free with some contact, but if i can switch to wm.
dont YOU ask me why.
if somebody polite can ask i would give only couple reason:
1. i cannot live without total commander. and dont want to spend life in searching how to add it on andriod, if is possible at all?
2. also TCPMP
3. also meaby tomtom is what i prefer for gps
4. i like resco photo viewer
5. and sound recorder
6. also MANY simple utitlities i want to add too , like conversation recorder ...
7. also curious to see improvement in performance from my p3300 regarding processor and memory
8. not your bussines with your atacking aproach...
WOW! you're the one on the attack here, I agree with Jamezelle & judging by the reasons you posted, why not just stick to a windows mobile device?
I amazes me that people would post on an Android board asking how to make it run windows & expect not to get this kind of response?
Try going on an apple forum & asking if you can run windows on the iphone
People are being light hearted here (notice the smiley on the end of his reply?) but Seriously, if you really can't live without WM apps buy a WM phone (or contact the developer to ask if they considered an android version), if you want to change to Android then more power to you, go buy a cheap Android handset & keep both until you are 100% sure, T-mobile UK sell them on P.A.Y.G.
They are designed to run the OS they are shipped with, you cant really complain that it wont do stuff the other does.
Don't forget WM has been around a lot longer so there are bound to be more apps, in the very short time Android has been out it has done some wonderful things & in time (I believe) it will become the number 1 OS as more companies develop software for it.
I started on Android, changed to WM, then back to Android & many people here run both.
A serious & informative answer was given in the 1st reply. Did it really need to go this far?
NO, Windows OS or Apps wont run on an Android handset...
...AND THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!!!!
Ok. more resonable answer, Thanks
i just think if nobody of wm users dont complain for possibility of android running on "wm devices" (seen this on Tilt , www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxcdSsmmKz8 )why would you guys complain?
i just like Tattoo device. and becaouse of your attitude i will certainly never have oportunity to have afordable great device (like tattoo)
But You can have win devices as i know. not fair . that is the point.
(sorry for eng)
ok . i'm out
i'w got answers, argue don;t lead anywhere...
all the best for all of us
why buying an android phone when late wm phones are same $$$ and fit better to a WM OS?
another thing is having an WM for the last year, and with the late release of android, wanting to flash to android
i got a htc winmo device from 2007 and Android has given it more life...especially the Tattoo Rom..gtta love sense UI on qvga..whats that? More HTC qvga android phones for 2010. Maybe I can wait for winmo 7 after all.
i have the solution
send me your tatoo
ill send you my htc touch mk 1
fair swap
you get windows
i get anotheR lovely android device !!
(( no but seriously the apps you want i can sort of agree with, file managers on android are a whole new thing when your used to win-mob, maybe try linda file manager or astro its just a getting used to process... or we can swap ! ))

htc tattoo clone running WM ?
Hello,
I have found this 3 month old news:
http://www.clonedinchina.com/2010/01/htc-tattoo-clone-touch-g4-runs-windows-mobile.html
Is this Windows mobile ROM compatible with the HTC Tattoo ?
If it is compatible, can someone upload this Windows mobile ROM ?
Thank you
Problem is, that this clone doesn't need to have the same hardware equipment as the original one (because of the drivers). But I know that the pendant of the tattoo (HTC Touch2) has nearly the same HW equipment...maybe this could be of any help?

HI
im using a jade and guys at the jade forum wanted android on our phone but it looks like impossible assuming the same for the tatoo running WM in fact this is the reason that im seriously considering buying a tatoo(its also in my budget)
and for ur info the specs on the tatoo and jade(touch3G) are quite the same
and just for the sake of my made craze to try android looks like i might buy a tatoo soon
Hello everyone!
I need a piece of advice. I want to replace my Blackstone, to buy a new phone and I'm hesitating! If I was to buy a WM device, I would surely buy the Leo, since it appears to me that it's the best one, what's more, it will have an official upgrade to WM 7!
But I'm wavering because I saw pictures of the Sony X10 which seems also very nice. Both of them have capacitive screens, but won't be multitouch till they get their upgrade (to WM7 for Leo and to Android 2.0 for X10), they both have snapdragon, but none of them have an AMOLED screen.
So the question is, if I'm used to WM, will I like Android? Are there enough applications? Games? etc
Another question also, is the HD2 like the HD? I mean, do they have great hardware but no drivers to use it?
Thank you for your answers!
I think this is again, a bit of apples and oranges comparison because of the OS. You have thrown in though some of the points I would question as well. The biggest point was with the WM7 coming through the pipes and whether Android and the X10's new features are enough to bring you across.
Again for me, I'm still more excited about the HD2 because in a way, it's like buying two different phones in one. In the sense, you are getting the best of today's 6.5 right now and since it's upgradable to WM7, it will feel like a completely new phone again by the end of the year. Keep in mind as well the HD2 is good to go now with HDSPL and cooked roms. The X10 hasn't even made it out of the gate yet.
At this point, those who chose the X10 are all wishing they went the HD2 route because by then, the X10 has become boring now. All phones slowly get boring as we all went the latest stuff when it comes out. THE HD2 Gives you that.....Now and Later.
Hope this helped...
If you want AMOLED go for the OMNIA 2.I heard it is a great display.
And yes the HD2 has the same DRIVERS issue.I mean great harware and no drivers.

Sorry about the second post.
Some computer issues.
You might want to check Google phone Nexus One - HTC's first AMOLED with Snapdragon and Android...
I know about the Nexus One, but I don't like it because it has a resistive screen, right? so it won't have multitouch, even with a software upgrade!
Ok, it seems like I was wrong ^^

So, now, I'm also considering the Nexus One as a good candidate ^^
Hello Guys,
at first sorry for my bad english...
Is there any way to get windows mobile on my HTC Wildfire?
I hope there is a solution!

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

There is no and probably never will be a WM rom for the Wildfire. The wildfire isn't successfully rooted (A review version was but it doesn't work on retail) so flashing is currently impossible so I don't think you can unbrand it for now.
I do know Paul from MoDaCo is trying to root it but we will see how that goes.
Why would you want that? i am just curious.
I like to have it, because all my other phones are with windows mobile.
There are many more programs for wm smartphones...
But the next problem is, that in Germany all wildfires are sold out... it's very anoying.
I've searched for a good thread with android apps - but i didn't find one...
Does it have as much applications as for windows mobile?

I do not know how much the applications for Windows mobile has grown in the last year but I used to have WM 6.1 on my HTC Kaiser.
I find more (free and paying) applications in the android market then I found for WM.
Take a look at appbrain . com
@ s3ri0z:
i dont think so, that all the wildfires are sold out in germany. why i get one today in my vodafoneshop???
it is unpossible to flash a winmob rom to your wildfire. did you tried to run android on a windows mobile phone? its difficult to develop it and so to run it on an winmob device.
and than, the android only starts in windows. it doesnt replace it.
on android you wount get something like that.
Hey s3ri0z,
I'm German myself, so please write me a PM, if there are some problems with the understanding. I'll answer you in German then.
To your questions:
- There exist 100.000+ apps in the Android Market. This is way more then you can get for WM. I have to admit, that if you count all WM-apps together you might find more apps for WM. But most of the WM-apps are old. Lots of those were designed for WM 5, WM 6.1, etc. The only useful WM-apps are those for WM 6.5 and may be WM 6.1, but since Microsoft will launch Windows Phone 7 in a couple month, WM is kind of dying.
My phone is an HTC HD2 and this way I'm using WM-apps for a long time. With the possibilities of an Linux kernel, which was released by the dev's here in this forum, I'm now testing Froyo on my HD2. To be honest, I think Android is the future. It is in many ways better. It's faster, supports flash in the browser and has a huge development community.
- You can get a Wildfire at at least three online stores from now to tomorrow. Try idealo.de or other "Preissuchmaschinen", you'll find a vendor.
- The only thing, which really is a plus for Windows Mobile is the Sync. I don't wan't to share my private data with google. But even there is a solution. Look for companionlink.com and check the USB-version. That should solve all those problems.
Hello guys,
thanks for so many answers.
I looked an a lot of websites with android apps.
There are really many freeware apps - so it's ok to have an android smartphone...
I searched at idealo.com for the wildfire and bought 3 pieces at es-mobilfunk de.
At the shop the delivery date was 3 to 7 days.
After 3 days I asked for the delivery date --> they said it's sold out and I have to wait for an indefinite period... it's very annoying!
Hi there!
- WM has more apps - true. But it got near to 500.000 (for example) apps in nearly 10 years. Android got near to 100.000 apps in nearly 2 year. That means android grows and gets apps faster So why anyone would want wm on his Wildfire? I only missed TCPMP and Worms from wm.
All of the Wildfires isn't sold in Germany or I bought the last one

lol, fail comparison. End up the same amount/year in your case.
But, your point's right
Windows Mobile have around 50k working apps atm. and have been around for like 6 years or so. Android have been around for over 1 year know, lately the apps have grown like ****. It'll probably beet Appstore pretty soon.
But hey! Apps is not all, Android is the (according to me) best system around.
From what I seen of the wildfire in the 3 hours I have had mine it really would not do well with the new windows mobile heavy handed core, the phone is nice as it is and really does not need WM killing the poor thing

i completely agree. had wm devices since 2003 (tomtom was the killer app) but now wm is dying, wp7 will not change this, since as far as i heard it is not backward compatibility at all. this was my reason to go for the wildfire, and i have to say i really like this phone.

Yeah... Android has many apps. Maybe not as much as WM but still growing. In Poland all HTCs were sold out as well :/ but 2 days ago I managed to snatch one

Ever looked in Window Marketplace??? There is not much to download...
I also was using Windows Mobile 6.5 and now owner of the HTC Wildfire, honestly, i never want to go back to Windows Mobile! Android is so easy to use and much faster than (for example) WM on a Touch2...
What ever you need can be sownloaded on the Marketplace, and the best thing is...for free!
Dave
Never try torturing yourself. I've just escape from this hell
I used a Touch2 in a electronic market and i felt like riding a turtle after I used my lovely Wildfire. So WM sucks. I only missed the TCPMP and Worms but soon we'll get them
can i have a dual boot with windows and android in the HTC Wildfire ??? and heard that some applets arent supported due to less resolution of the screen… is that true ?? is that a major setback as far as Android market is concerned ??? and anyone tried FROYO on wildfire ???

1. No
2.Sorta, Some apps don't show in the market but you can still download them.
3. Froyo is going to be released sooner or later(Within 2 weeks the rumor goes).
I don't understand why anyone would want to use Windows Mobile over the Android OS. As point of princible to prove you can get Windows Mobile on your phone is one thing... To use it as your phone's main OS is another IMO.
Hello!
That's my question. Do you think that our S200 will have a new rom? It makes me sad to think that such a great phone, only a year old, will be death with WM 6.5 because there'll no be any software development any more...
I'd my hopes on Android, but it looks like it's going nowhere... I've recently installed the NFS Shift, and that made me think of what our phone is capable of.
What do you think?
This question has just been answered...Maybe there will be in the future but it s almost impossible in our device, maybe in hd2 since is a phone with more comunity support. For the future i wish our phone could run android,wm 6.5 is dead and wp7 will dead in 1 year at leas for me since i belive there will be no support from comunity and software maker (wp7 havee many restrictions).Yes when you try games like nfs you realize how powerfull is the device but the software maker prefer to develop games for iphone for the money they turn back...They give us only ****ty 2d games impossible to play on touch screen device...Look at fifa 10 for windows mobile and iphone, the first look a mega drive game, the second a psx one

Do you think the hardware is so different ?
The spec are pretty the same has Windows mobile...
Unlike microsoft usually do, there is no driver include in windows phone ?
similar is unfortunatly not good enough, the HD2 and Hd7 are very very similar, but they are not the same. Even within the same SoC there may be differences in Implementation.
The HD2 was used to trial the initial WP7 OS before the HD7 was made, so drivers were made, all be it poorly, without those drivers we wouldnt have WP7 on the HD2, even with them we have some considerable issues with it! i believe the HSPL was also easier to get working on the HD2 too compared to modern devices, i know nothing about that other than what ive heard.
oh an windows phone isnt like its desktop cousin, ms doesnt pump it full of drivers!
hardware limitation.....
