Using that link and the link from it (due to not having a card reader so only able to mount one card at a time via my phone) and a bit of trial and error with SS Android builds, my phone now dual boots WP7 and the 2.1 version of this build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
The trick is not to do what I did which was rush through the instructions, you will miss steps out / do them incorrectly. I spent maybe 8 hours yesterday on this, most of that time was spent doing same steps over and over because I failed to read the instructions properly and either missed stages out or did things in the wrong order.
Grind through it and it will hopefully work for you.

Android on SD setup

I received my HD2 yesterday and have spent most of lastnight and today reading thru the threads and other sites.. but i have used this forum in the past for my other phones and know i can find good links and tutorials here..
I found plenty of Android setup links and NAND information.. but i want to setup a dual boot. I have found that there are differnet ways to do this, one is installing Android on the SD and being able to just open the OS from my windows file manager. Then there is another method that allows you to select the OS when you boot up your phone.
Do both ways require me to flash the phone? Or is there a method to accomplish the dual boot without any mods to the windows OS portion? I am fine with running the Android OS from my file manager as i just want to get a feel for the OS and decide in the future what my main OS will be..
If there is a sticky thread that has all the steps for both methods that will be perfect, as most everything i read were just other threads other members have started. Also, what are the latest most stable files available today for this?
thanks..

try the "search" feature !!
already tried thanks for it reply
Well so whats the problem? you already know the answer. Just download and setup AOSP on mSD and run it though file manager or do it via bootloader for RAM version. In your case I would SUGGEST you go flash your stock rom to custom rom if you want to heavily use it if not you can use custom WM rom specially designed for AOSP with alot of functions removed.
So go with dualboot WM6.5X(NAND) + AOSP(mSD) and see how you like the flavor before you switch to AOSP fully via NAND.

At the moment, the only real dual booting is available via Magldr, with WP7 on NAND and Android on SD. If you're not looking to try WP7 then forget about that. You just need to look into getting Android running from SD, booting from WM6.5, which is the way we were all doing it before Magldr and NAND builds came along.
All the info you need is in the HD2 Android SD Dev forum, and it's a lot simpler to get going than a NAND version, as it involves nothing but copying files and running a couple of exe in WM. You can then get a "bootloader" for WM that offers the choice of running Windows Mobile, or Android. (This isn't really a bootloader, as it's a Windows Mobile app, so Windows Mobile is already running. When you select to run Android, it dumps WM from the memory and loads Android instead. It's a bit of a blag to call it a bootloader!)
You may find this useful..

[Mar 04][Q] Android on SD

Hi, this is my first post here
I've been here for a long time (well didn't have a handset so didn't find the need to join...)
I read through many articles and learned a lot from this forum
Last weekend I got my T-Mobile HD2 and I proceeded to install custom rom soon after
(latest Energy rom by NRGZ28- thanks)
The rom is awesome, it's just that I wanna try out android on my phone also...
I decided I'll try the SD first
So I followed a guide just downloaded the rom I want (MCCM GB V2.0 Gingerbread HoneyComb Sense theme) unzip, then copy to the root of my sd, run clrcad (don't know what he meant by working sound- I heard nothing) then run haret....
Then I am always stuck at the green letters screen forever, never get further...
I'm not sure what is wrong
I looked through all possible things
I did HardSPL4 and now has HSPL2.08, I got a custom rom
The only thing I did not change and think might be the problem is the radio...
my version is 2.10.50.26
Would flashing an updated radio make my android on sd work?
Is this "Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**" ok for my HD2? (on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787)
Thanks for the help nice to talk to everyone~

Ha I guess you did not like the first option, so I will edit the whole post.
Running Andriod from SD is very simple as long as you follow the instructions to the T. If the Andriod folder you copied to your SD card has another folder in it that you have to open to get to CLRCLAD and HARET then you need to copy that folder to the root of your SD card. It is also important the name of the folder is Andriod. The first time you boot the Andriod it can take up to ten minutes sometimes cause it has to creat folders, files, and pathways. So maybe you are not giving it enough time to boot all the way up beforeo you hit the reset button or do a battery pull. Your SD card also needs to be formated correctly you want to format it usimg Fat 32, please make a back up copy of your card also if you reformat it as it will wipe it clean. Last but not least you may just have a bad download. Try redownloading the build and recopy it to your SD card then run CLRCAD and HARET.
The only thing a radio will do is cure robot sounding voices during a phone call while running Andriod but most builds now have that solved and are compatible with the current radio 2.15.50.14. Also when you touch on CLRCAD you will see or hear nothing it enables the sound on the Andriod build.
Last but not least being you have a TMOUS (T-Mobile) HD2. Be adviced that you most flash a radio version that has a 50 in the third set of numbers like 2.xx.50.xx. Do not flash a radio that has a 51 in the third set of numbers like 2.xx.50.xx. or a radio that looks like this 2.04.50.xx or 2.05.50.xx as they will brick your TMOUS HD2 reindering it usless for nothing but a paper wieght. And the only way to unbrick a HD2 is with a JTAG and a ORT wich will cost you and you will have to take your HD2 apart to fix.
O_O is the issue that difficult?
I don't mind calling though
Thanks

[Q] Easy one stop Android?

Ive for an HD2 im going to give to my friends girlfriend to replace her current T-Mobile phone thats junk and has a cracked screen.
I have installed HSPL 2.08 to match the stock SPL, but now ive come to a stand still.
I only have a 4GB card right now (unless someone can tell me how to format one from a WP7 device, Windows wont recognize it).
Im getting confusing info about the US devices and radio's as well.
Isnt there a one step install for Android to SD card? Even the 'easy for noobs' directions has many confusing steps.
Unfortunately, no. The easiest way would be sd android run with haret from within windows mobile, but even that requires an updated radio.
Just put windows mobile back, update the radio (which is relatively easy if you read enough) and drop any sd build on your sd card and then click on "clrcad.exe." then "haret" from File Explorer on your phone.
That's the easiest.
Never took WinMo off but i did manage to get a 16 gig card to use. How do i tell what radio it has?
Go into settings > software information > radio.
That's it.
I recommend flashing 2.15.50 (if you don't already have one that is 2.08 or above)
2.15.50.14? Cause thats the one i've seen said 'use' and 'dont use'.
Ok, its got that radio on it. So i guess im good and can just find an image to put on the SD.
Just go into the SD android development, pick a ROM, download it and extract it into /Android/ on your sdcard.. then follow my first post.
Which Android version it is more suitable for the HTC HD2
I have an HTC HD2 running the original windows professional 6.5. and I m interested to install the Android OS in order to get
a faster an easy OS.
But after reading several posts and watching a lot of vieos on Youtube I feel lost which Android version it is more suitable to my smartphone
and if it is possible to get a little bit of more speed I woul be very happy.
As far as I understand i will require to burn or change my ROM first and then install the Android. But there are the Rafdroid version, the Ice Cream the Jelly Bean and so. Today I read a notice somewhere that a a guy have obtained 1.66 Ghz of speed at the HTC HD2 that it is amazing.
A little of speed would be great but the most important it is to have the Android because it is easy and may allow me to view videos ouside
youtube.
I will appreciate you advice and comments how to decide about the Android version.

Well, i did, i found AmeriCanAndroid. But when i launch Haret it says it cant find the zImage which is not in the NativeSD folder, but in the kernal/boot folder. Also in following the guide for this on YT, when i copy it to the SD its only 123 megs, not 232 like in the video. So im lost as to whats going on.
Also, my ex-wife had an HD2 briefly that had Android on it that you could launch from a shortcut on the home screen. Any idea how to do that?
Ok, i got this resolved. Once i realized MAGLDR wipes WinMo off i found an EXCELLENT video on YT for dual booting WP7 and Android. Thanks to the guy who made it, very thorough and had the links to the required software in the comments.

[Q] Frustrated NOOB needs a little help installing rom

After several days struggle, I'm burned out. Some of the threads here have 100+ pages, and searches yield too much outdated, irrelevant info. So, I'm asking for some direction (as simple as possible, please).
I'm trying to set up my unlocked HD2 (originally T-Mo, but unlocked and using AT&T) for dual-boot, WM6.5 and Android. As you know, the choices for android rom are mind-boggling. I don't need anything fancy, just something up-to-date and stable. I would like, however, something LOUD.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Using despy1989's March 2010 guide (four years old already!), I have my HD2 booting up asking to choose Android or WM. If I choose Android, it does nothing, and defaults to WM.
I have SUNDAWG-CM7-NATIVESD rom loaded (or I think I do) in the android directory of the SD card. I'm not sure this one will meet my LOUD requirement, but since it won't load, I can't tell.
If I tap the new Android icon, it does nothing. If I tap the Android SoftReset icon, it resets but does not load Android, goes to WinMo.
If I go to File Explorer, and run haret, I get the message "failed to load file \storagecard\android\sdcard\nativesd\zimage"
What do I do next?
ANY help is much appreciated.
How did you installed Android as NativeSD? Did you made a partition on your SD in EXT4 which is needed for installing the Rom? Why you want keep WM 6.5 anyway?

AFAIK, yes it is installed as NativeSD, Did not make a partition (there was conflicting advice as to whether it was necessary. I'm not ready to go "all in" and reformat my old SD card yet.)
Want to keep WM6.5 since it is the only one that works the way I need. I've been playing with a Sony X10a with Android 1.6 and am frustrated. I specifically need LOUDNESS and customizable ringtones and notifications, and relatively easy syncing with my PC.
Thanks for your reply and any further advice.
If you do not make a partition EXT4 it will never be installed so you just messing around that is why is not working. From WM6.5 can be run only SD Android version or there is another way, much longer but it's the way how it have to be.
Install MAGLRD and Recovery, probably this will wipe the phone, make the partition on SD to Install NativeSD, Install the Rom as Native SD. Then flash back the Stock WM6.5, this will wipe MAGLRD and Recovery. Now start again Android from the folder created from the installation. It should boot.

I did this 100 times and HD2 is not that easy to brick, I never heard about bricked HD2 before. Then if you don't want to do it you will never have NativeSD on your phone because the NativeSD have to be installed on EXT4 partition, there is no other way. The only Android which you can use is from this section HERE. Put it on SD with other stuff and run with the application from WM6.5. First boot is very long.

No, wipe (task29) won't even touch SPL parts.
So, unless you're super duper unlucky using wipe command, you won't bricking your device.
I don't know if you're already flash HSPL.
I suggest you to flash HSPL first, then the rest is up to you..

Been trying to follow your steps, but when I get to "Native SD Install Recovery", the links are broken. (this is the very kind of frustrations I'm having - there does not appear to be one single step-by-step guide without numerous links to invalid or outdated sites. I don't need advertising either.)
I can't find the 4EXT partition (in W8.1) in order to install anything.
So, now what?

(Q) Dualbooting Help

Hi, I am quite new to the HD2, so I have a question that might sound dumb to the more experienced people reading this.
Is it possible to Dualboot WP7 and Android ? But it is not that simple, I want my phone to boot into android unless I choose WP7 instead, I currently have Android ICS on my nand so what I need is something like the SD method used to dualboot WM6.5 and Android, but the other way around and with WP7 instead of WM6.5
Thanks.
Seems like even if I wanted to singleboot WP7, I cannot, because I cannot even get a rom, all the links are broken, If any on you have a WP7.8 with all the good stuff and tweeks I probably want, please link it.
Hi Traysa, you can only boot wp7 from nand using magldr. magldr lets you choose which OS autostarts in bootsettings. So you would need to partition your sdcard and use an SD android build, or better, a NativeSd ROM.
Shame the links are down, have you checked the last few pages of the threads for re-upped links? What wp7 takes your fancy? I might have it on HDD.
Off to sleep now, night night.
Oh, and you will need an activation code for wp7, don't think Microsoft give them out now as wp7 is unsupported.
Yes, I did look for reups for about an hour, found none, I would like a WP7 rom that has lots of preinstalled apps, because WP7 is no longer supported and getting them might not be very easy. dont really care if its Mango or WP7.8, I just want it to work. And about the WP7 activation key, how would I go about getting one ?
Thanks
edit: Forgot to add, I dont want to install wm6.5, i want to go straight from android to WP7, if at all possible.
The one you say you have ( WP7.8 pdaimatejam v8.8) should work, please mail it, or link it if you still have it.
Oh and pdaimatejam put this code out, it supposedly should work TP4CF-GK479-Q9Q4Q-WPYRP-7YR4D
heres another : CRFV7-X32H9-7QF2Y-CG239-V62YR
Off to work, will look later
After a **** ton of digging, I found a Hd2O ROM from a Dutch website, will try it.
No need for the rom anymore, the rom I found is working great, is it still possible to use the market ? When I try to make an account, it gives me a connection error, what do I do about that ? Also, I didn't use the key like you said, it never asked me to use a key.
Turns out I actually need a code, the two I found dont work. How do I get one ?
Okay, so WP7 is working perfectly, but I want Android too, how do I do that ?
I like either something cool like FroYo, I need an SD rom right ? Heres one,but the link is down ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518 ) I already have a few things on my wp7 installation, so I do NOT want to delete it all, so I will probably need to back it up, but 1. Will it work if I partition the SD card 2. will it even work with zune down ? If you have this rom, please post it

Hi again Traysa, sorry been really busy in RL lately and haven't had a chance to get on xda. How are you getting on?
I posted a working link at the end of the thread you quoted for the Froyo build, but it would still be too big to install on sdcard without re-partitioning. I am pretty sure that you would lose your stuff if you repartitioned.
But see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41706158 for a way to boot android without repartitioning, it is also superRAM as the original froyo build, and works well as long as you have only a few apps.
Thank you, but I cannot get the ROM, because it was uploaded on DevHost, which I guess does not work any longer, if you still have the rom, would you put it on mediafire or send it as an attachment ? It is kinda sad, that so many HD2 ROMs got lost this way. I am also really surprised that you were able to get android on such a tiny amount of space.
Best regards
Traysa

Hi, this build is soo close to booting, but when I go to Ad SD and launch it, Portadroid starts porting is and then it reboots, any ideas ?
I also have an unrelated question, I recently started experimenting with the CM13 build for the HD2, but I cannot figure out, how to get files onit, when I plug it in, it shows that its an MP3 Player and I cannot put any files on it, when I put the SD card in my PC directly,I quickly figure out that Windows is not Linux and does not understand EXT4. Because the browser/the play store does not work, I cannot put any apps on it, so that its usable, I wanna put a veeeery lightweight web browser on it and aptoide, it that works.
PS : Thank you for helping me, it always makes my day !
EDIT : I figured the file transfer out, I had to switch to PTP in settings instead of MTP.
