Hi,
I have an app, which wants to cache something. The cache is located on the sdcard under Android/data/<package-name>/cache/. The cache will be deleted when I uninstall the app, but I cant use the "Clear Cache" button. I could make an option for doing so, but how can I get the button in Manage Application working?
Sry, but I need an answer, so *bump*

Today, when I check the updates of the apps, I found that this app keeps showing "installing" but the app has been installed properly yesterday.
I tried several ways to solve it but all doesn't works.
1.) Restart
2.) Unmount & Remount SD card
3.) Uninstalled it by Titanium Backup
4.) Restore the app with older version
5.) Kill "Market" in Taskiller
But all of these cannot solve the problem.
Current rom: mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8
Does anyone know how to solve it? thanks in advance.
1. go to your settings
2. select "applications"
3. then select "manage applications"
4. press menu and select "filter" then "All"
5. scroll down to:
- "Market" then select "clear cache"
- "Market" then select "clear data"
Problem fixed!
Worked to fix my problem!
Thanks a million

Doesn't that also clean your settings in the market? I've read that someone had done this and the whole market just hung up.
Thanks!
Worked great for my EVO. I had deleted an app and when I went back into the market to install it, it kept saying install.
my solution is re-sign google talk .
I have a new Nook Color running 1.4.2 and followed the instructions with CWM 3.2.0.1 and MN 5.02.19. Everything looks good except apps won't install. I see the Android market and have downloaded all apps from my Google account. I can see they are downloaded but when I try to install, nothing happens.
I've used NookColor Tools to force stop, clear data and clear cache in the Market app but still can't install.
Edit: I've reinstalled with the apps2sd version plus the stock kernel. Still no joy. Have spent an entire day getting nowhere. I see that NookColor Tool doesn't have any hidden white text on a white background. It's all white text on black background. Toggleing the tick box doesn't seem to do anything.
Can anyone please help me?
heh... toggling that select box breaks app installs for me. I fixed it by rerunning the sd-boot root again. After the root, just verify that the box is selected.
There's also the solution from old_fart
you try clearing the cache and data of both the Google Play Store app and the Download manager
1.Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2.Tab over to "All"
3.Select the Google Play Store app, and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache;" then, select Download manager and tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
Good luck

Thanks Ron, I do remember the select box in NookColor Tool was already ticked after I ran the sd-boot root. I'll try once more.....Could the problem be that the Market isn't updating to Google Play Store? I'm stuck with the old Android Market. I can see my paid-for apps but it won't download them for installation. Can I force an update?
ps. old_fart's solution didn't work for me
Third time lucky....I tried the root again and this time I didn't toggle the NookColor Tool tick box. Market started it's upgrade to Play Store within seconds and Angry Birds installed first time. Thanks Ron
Is anyone else getting this error when trying to download apps?

1. Open the "Google Play" app and press the home button to return
2. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Applications
3. Select the "ALL" tab, Search for "Google Play Store" and press it to open.
4. Press "Clear cache"
5. Press "Force stop"
6. Return to Settings → Applications → Manage Applications
7. Press "Google Services Framework"
8. Press "Clear Data"
9. Press "Force Stop"
10. Start "Google Play Store" and it should give an error
11. Reboot.
Once your device has restarted Google Play Store should work. Wait a minute or too if it doesn't.
This should help if a corrupt cache is the cause of your problems (a corrupt cache might lead to strange error messages, amongst others). If it doesn't help, you might try the same steps but include "Clear Data" for the playstore app.
I am getting a constant barrage that tells me "Unfortunately, Weather has stopped". I assume it's the app on my home screen that was installed automatically. This message will not stop and repeats so quickly I am unable to do anything, literally. I have to pull the battery and reboot. Please help.
Usually a corrupt cache. The following procedure will resolve most xxxx app has stopped error messages.
If you are using a weather widget on your homescreen, drag it to the trashcan. Then go into the settings menu > applications > all > application manager > weather and click force stop, then clear cache, then clear data.
Then boot to recovery mode (pull battery, replace it, then press and hold in order the volume up key, then the home key, then the power key). Once the screen turns on, release the keys and from recovery mode, wipe the partition cache (or wipe cache + Dalvik if you have a custom recovery).
That should clear up corrupt or messed up weather settings. You will have to drag your weather widget to your homescreen again to replace it.

Thank you so much for answering. The sign happens so quickly and so frequently it's extremely challenging, but I was able to delete it from my home screen. The app manager only lists downloaded apps and I think the one causing the problems is part of the standard package as I don't see it there.
I did find running apps. I did not see any weather apps. Things started happening so quickly that there is no time to do anything.

Not true. If you choose the "all" column instead of the "downloaded" column, you would see all of the apps.
settings menu > applications > application manager > all > weather
And no, you will not get special attention by PMing me. Further requests for tech support by PM will be ignored. Everyone benefits when questions are posed and answered in the forum. If you are impatient, consider doing a search of the forum as this question, like most, has been asked and answered many times before. So hard as it is to click on search, there is a wealth of helpful information in existing threads.

Hello chaps.
Anyone have any idea how to clear this?
I have tried, uninstall the 2 software update APK, clear data on settings, tried a cache clear in recovery.
But still it remains!!!
Ignore, i have solved it
Open applications, show system apps, find "badgeprovider" and force stop/clear data > reset phone.
