Hi
I hope I am not repeating stuff but I just worked this out.
If you live out of the Zune pass areas and have the zune pass work around working on your PC then just change your "SYSTEM LOCAL" to English (United States) or where your Zune pass is at.
I had my System Local As Australia and it wouldn't let me sync any Zune pass music to the phone.
After changing my local all is working perfect.... Now I love WP7 even more.
I still can't download from phone, Download is still greyed out when I press and hold on the album or song. I can stream the entire song from marketplace so it must recognise that I have a zune pass.
We need to work out how to make the phone think it is set to US but with out change the timezone.
Anyone know how to solve that?
Yep, I got your back.
Have a look at this link, it's pretty easy, but hidden so I missed it the first few times as well.
Hope that helps!

I finally got this HD2 Activated. So I enable to my gamertag yadadadada. It won't let me download/install app or games on to the phone. Yes my wifi/data connection work fine. Though I had to reformat my phone after a few things and I lost my regedit. Would the marketplace not be working because I don't have it registered as an HD7 anymore? I have my activation code though enabled
Short answer yes. I found it wouldn't let me until the device name was changed to HD7. Windows market place must see what the device is then decide if it should be allowed download apps or not.
lol yes, after the tedious process of getting it to work, I downloaded my first app, and installing it now
Has anybody been able to get Zune working from their phone, so that you can download songs straight from the phone without a PC? Like how it is shown in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNCDJLSP_Fw
I know it's probably possible with a legit WP7 phone, but I am talking about our HD2's. I am using the 14-day trial right now, so I don't know if it's just a trial limitation or if it doesn't work for any Zune Pass level.
Could somebody with a paid Zune Pass on HD2 please confirm if this works?
I have a zune pass and I can play music ( the full song ) from market place but the download is greyed out, I live in Australia and have a zune pass registered at my sisters address in US. The zune software on the computer all works, I can download and use all the Zune Pass features.
The only thing is I think it is the phone must know it is not in US so the download function doesn't work but why can I play a song for more than 30secs and if I select buy it it says that it will take it out of one of my 10 monthly credits but I can't download, it must recognise I have a zune pass....... very weird.
This is the same on a HD2 and a Mozart 7 so it is nothing to do with a HD2 software issue.
I just answered my own question today. I guess it takes a few hours to register a new Zune Pass to an account. I am able to download, and stream full songs from the marketplace by long-pressing the song now. The only thing you don't get with the 14-day trial is the 10 free downloads. =(
I have just received my second DVP and i updated it....
now every time I try to use it with zune - zune ends up freezing (or it seems like its frozen...maybe it just slows down?) either way there is something wrong and I cannot seem to get it fixed...any ideas? anyone else with similar issues?
Zune on the PC or Zune on the Phone?

that sucks, I have been doing the same...I hope someone comes across with some good insight on this one....It's hard to troubleshoot it also since it gets stuck and task manager even takes a while to end the task sometimes...so I understand how it's a pain to do so....

Couple of thoughts here - have you just added to your media library, or has Zune had time to properly import your media? I noticed this when I first loaded Zune, but after it had some time to inspect my media files and populate my collection, no real problems after that.
Also saw some lagginess the first time I synced my phone.
One last possibility, Zune seems to slow down if I have a bunch of dynamically building sync groups that need to be cleared and rebuilt when I sync my phone.
Just a few ideas and/or observations, hopefully they help.

I tested this today. My Zune synced nice and fast. So I added 4 sync groups, pictures. Not only did it slow way down, but impacted laptop performance. After a couple of tries I erased the media and let it do a very simple sync....speed was back. I have an idea or, but I'll look at them tomorrow . Good call mage .
Next time it happens, check Task Manager to see if ZuneEnc.exe (maybe not that exact name) is using a lot of CPU. It's a process used by Zune to encode videos to the format used by the phone.
I have not tried the recent suggestions, but I would like to say that I have tried the 'Zune Media Collection Reset Tool' and had no luck still with that...
I know when I had my 8gb dvp zune seemed to work fine...but now with my refurb (which is a 16gb) I have these issues....
I also noticed when I use wifi it seems to freeze up my phone...maybe related? idk...maybe the phone just desperately needs a firmware fix? or zune needs a fix? idk?..
I will return to this thread later when I have some more insight or info...
I have Windows 7 64 Bit by the way...
I tried a samsung focus and it works fine...
it seems to be something with my DVP and ZUNE on this computer specifically... I have tried another comp with XP 32 and its fine and now I will try a comp with Vista 32....
Sorry guys, I'm new to WP7 and the DVP. I searched and came up with what appeared to be a different language. Let me explain where I'm at. I'm an Android person but needed a new phone and the opportunity arised to try this one so I took it. I like it so far, but I don't really like not being able to drag and drop files. So first I plug in through USB, nothing. Then I read about the ##634# turn on zune mode thing. Did that. Then realized I probably need zune software for music or anything like this.
So I downloaded zune, plugged usb in, at least now it recognizes the drivers. Open zune software, and zune on phone. zune on phone says sync complete right away, thought that was odd. Then zune sw on the PC says no device connected and it needs an update. I click ok for the update and this is where I am stuck now...
"Can't find the media for installation package 'zune WMDU component'. It might be incomplete or corrupt
Anybody know where to go from here? I just want to listen to some music lol.
Update: Now I got it to the point where if I hook the phone up and open up music, it says "sync complete" immediately. Even though it did nothing. Also the zune pc software shows no devices connected but after the "sync complete" message it says zune needs an update. I click ok, then it searches and says I have the latest zune software on my PC.
Is their not a way to just read this thing as a HD so I can just drag and drop music files? I called dell and the lady there was useless.
You can manually drag and drop songs, podcasts etc onto the phone if you prefer. However, this should be done within the Zune software - drop the items from your Zune library onto the phone icon on the bottom left of the screen to do this. (I manually sync songs in this manner. However, I have my podcasts set to update automatically).
p.s. you need to have added your songs etc to Zune before you can sync to your phone.
If your error is not fully resolved, see if the steps in the following article helps:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944938
I don't think I'd be able to do that either. It never says connected in the zune pc software ever. I'm going to try that link right now.
Are you using the beta version of zune?
What OS are you running? all patch and to update? no virus, malware.. etc..
windows update updating more than just windows? it doesn't by defualt. "get updates for other MS products" or something like that should be on you windows update page.

Nope, downloading straight from zune.com Running windows 7 32bit. No virus' or nothing. The update thing, is just zune. Right now, I'm waiting til I get home to try my personal computer. This computer though is 2 weeks old so it shouldn't have any issues and isn't going through a network or anything. And it is updated.
Solved: ok, remember how I said I just got the phone? Well I literally meant about two days lol. I hadn't known that Mango hadn't came out yet. So after Microsoft asks me what version I have, they act strange. Now they were already remotely accessing my desktop so then they ask if I have their devkit. I say nope, and he checks. He asks when I got the phone and how I got the update. I say I had it a few weeks and I got the update ota. Dude even looked in my downloads folder lol. Then he goes, "well I don't know how to tell you this, but I think we accidentally sent you this update prematurely." he apologized. He could tell I had no clue about WP7.
TL;DR
Had mango, didn't know I needed the beta version of Zune. Got it working!
Samsung released Allshare a DLNA App for Mango WP7 Phones.
I couldn't find it in the Samsung Zone...
But it poped up in the Search when i clicked "more from SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS Co., Ltd." on the Details View from other Samsung Apps.

Oops
"This device doesn't support AllShare." error pops up
(7720 updated, but not XXKH2 ROM)
Maybe it needs the XXKH2 for its drivers?
same here,
I8700XXKH2
2424.11.8.2
3.15.0.4
3.7.11140.0
5.8.0.8
allshare
I have the kh2 rom on my omnia 7, but allshare dosen't Work .
Sorry for bad english.
Just got the Samsung update for my 7720.68. But this doesn't work. The same goes for "advanced text messages".
I can unfortunately confirm neither work for me either (I went from 7720 RTM to official Mango about a 1/2 hour ago).
Not on Focus, either

Its ment to ship on the Omnia W and Focus S.
So maybe its only for Mango based phones
I just checked it. It specifically excludes devicenames "OMNIA7" and "SGH-i917" (= Focus). I patched it. The checks are removed. I was able to start the app, browse a DLNA server, but as soon as I select media it opens a screen with "Select device", "Loading...", "no device found". There seems no way to play any media. I haven't tried to send media from my phone to a DLNA player (I'm at work, I'll try that when I get home).
By the way, I'm on Omnia7 with Mango RTM and latest Samsung Driver/Radio Update.
I'll attach the xap, so you can try it yourself.
Ciao,

Well, this app is really, really not working on my Omnia7. The 'unlocked' app simply won't play and won't share anything. I don't understand why, because DLNA should just work on such a device. No special hardware requirements. Meehhh.
Heathcliff74
Does it need a driver that wasn't included in the new package from Samsung?
Yeah, that's what came to my mind too, some external driver required.
We need dump (or the ROM itself) of Omnia W or Focus S . Anyone?
I got samsung allshare in my galaxy s, it needs allshare installed in the server pc or any other samsung device that supports allshare.
cant test the above patched app because my omnia is not "rooted"
just my 2 cents.
Anyone tried this:
wmpoweruser.com/how-to-enable-samsung-allshare-dlna-app-on-the-samsung-omnia-7?
(sorry apparently can't post outside links :S)
Given Heathcliff74's experience after removing the check for model i wouldn't have expected this to work.
I can confirm it does load and get past the initial error message but I'm at work so i didn't get a chance to test streaming to an allshare device.

You can download AllShare to your PC and then stream media to your phone.
http://www.samsung.com/global/allshare/pcsw/
I've tried but problem is, my phone does not see my laptop running Samung AllShare, I tried to disable firewall but no go.
Same here, tested with 2 allshare Samsung devices.
Also the the omnia media files are not enumerated.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
to get it working load the the app up but before the error message pops up press the home button then hold down the back button to load multitasking then tap on allshare and it load up now you got it working

Or you can download the patched version I attached in an earlier post. But either way, it doesn't work...
I can see my pc folders but cant open its content (simple pics in my case).
I can see file names of pics but then no pic is shown
I noticed that pc doesn't recognise my phone as connected.
Ok. The app seems to do a little more than I thought it could do.
This is what the app CAN'T do:
- It can't play media from other devices on the phone (app simply does not do that).
- It is not possible to play media from the phone to another device. The app supports it, but the drivers don't. The app now tries to open a file-list through the drivers. Samsung could easily update the drivers or the app to get access to the media files on the phone.
- It is not possible to play media to a DLNA DMP (Digital Media Player). A DMP has browsing capabilities, but do not support "Play To".
This is what the app CAN do:
- Select media from a DLNA DMS (Digital Media Server)
- Play it to a DLNA DMR (Digital Media Renderer). My TV (Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500) officially supports only DMP. It has some DMR capabilities (I can configure it in the menu). Allshare sees my TV, but the combination does not seem to work.
Maybe I'll try to patch it later on to give it access to the media on the phone. But this is not high priority for me now, so if I do it, it won't be anytime soon.
Ciao,
