Samsung released Allshare a DLNA App for Mango WP7 Phones.
I couldn't find it in the Samsung Zone...
But it poped up in the Search when i clicked "more from SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS Co., Ltd." on the Details View from other Samsung Apps.

I have the kh2 rom on my omnia 7, but allshare dosen't Work .
Sorry for bad english.
Just got the Samsung update for my 7720.68. But this doesn't work. The same goes for "advanced text messages".
I can unfortunately confirm neither work for me either (I went from 7720 RTM to official Mango about a 1/2 hour ago).
Not on Focus, either

Its ment to ship on the Omnia W and Focus S.
So maybe its only for Mango based phones
I just checked it. It specifically excludes devicenames "OMNIA7" and "SGH-i917" (= Focus). I patched it. The checks are removed. I was able to start the app, browse a DLNA server, but as soon as I select media it opens a screen with "Select device", "Loading...", "no device found". There seems no way to play any media. I haven't tried to send media from my phone to a DLNA player (I'm at work, I'll try that when I get home).
By the way, I'm on Omnia7 with Mango RTM and latest Samsung Driver/Radio Update.
I'll attach the xap, so you can try it yourself.
Ciao,
Heathcliff74
Well, this app is really, really not working on my Omnia7. The 'unlocked' app simply won't play and won't share anything. I don't understand why, because DLNA should just work on such a device. No special hardware requirements. Meehhh.
Heathcliff74
Does it need a driver that wasn't included in the new package from Samsung?
Yeah, that's what came to my mind too, some external driver required.
We need dump (or the ROM itself) of Omnia W or Focus S . Anyone?
I got samsung allshare in my galaxy s, it needs allshare installed in the server pc or any other samsung device that supports allshare.
cant test the above patched app because my omnia is not "rooted"
just my 2 cents.
Anyone tried this:
wmpoweruser.com/how-to-enable-samsung-allshare-dlna-app-on-the-samsung-omnia-7?
(sorry apparently can't post outside links :S)
Given Heathcliff74's experience after removing the check for model i wouldn't have expected this to work.
I can confirm it does load and get past the initial error message but I'm at work so i didn't get a chance to test streaming to an allshare device.

You can download AllShare to your PC and then stream media to your phone.
http://www.samsung.com/global/allshare/pcsw/
I've tried but problem is, my phone does not see my laptop running Samung AllShare, I tried to disable firewall but no go.
Same here, tested with 2 allshare Samsung devices.
Also the the omnia media files are not enumerated.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
to get it working load the the app up but before the error message pops up press the home button then hold down the back button to load multitasking then tap on allshare and it load up now you got it working

Or you can download the patched version I attached in an earlier post. But either way, it doesn't work...
I can see my pc folders but cant open its content (simple pics in my case).
I can see file names of pics but then no pic is shown
I noticed that pc doesn't recognise my phone as connected.
Ok. The app seems to do a little more than I thought it could do.
This is what the app CAN'T do:
- It can't play media from other devices on the phone (app simply does not do that).
- It is not possible to play media from the phone to another device. The app supports it, but the drivers don't. The app now tries to open a file-list through the drivers. Samsung could easily update the drivers or the app to get access to the media files on the phone.
- It is not possible to play media to a DLNA DMP (Digital Media Player). A DMP has browsing capabilities, but do not support "Play To".
This is what the app CAN do:
- Select media from a DLNA DMS (Digital Media Server)
- Play it to a DLNA DMR (Digital Media Renderer). My TV (Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500) officially supports only DMP. It has some DMR capabilities (I can configure it in the menu). Allshare sees my TV, but the combination does not seem to work.
Maybe I'll try to patch it later on to give it access to the media on the phone. But this is not high priority for me now, so if I do it, it won't be anytime soon.
Ciao,
Heathcliff74

is there a official siriusxm radio app out there? or any alternatives?
i've also tried the siriuswm5 app in the sticky but that doesnt connect on my tp2 and the channel list is out dated. any others?

SiriusWM5 might not be connecting today, because no online apps are working now, including the Official Iphone App. It appears Sirius is re-working all of their online content and only the Official Sirius Webpage is running now. I've confirmed that SiriusWM5, C-Aspiro, Iphone and uSirius are not working.

I have used the SiriusWM5 app for quite sometime. I was not aware of other apps for Sirius out there. Can you post any links? I will search too.

sirius wm5
hello, are there any fixes to get siriuswm5 working again?
CONFIRMED: How to get your SIRIUS fix...
I just about started pulling my hair out in clumps, but I finally found a solution.
If you have the iPhone:
Pocket Tunes Radio: http://www.pocket-tunes.com/
** Not sure if it does Stern, but definitely does SiriusXM on the iPhone, no Windows Mobile SiriusXM Support **
If you have a SmartPhone/Windows Mobile (non-touchscreen, including BlackJack II, which I have)
SelectRadio: http://www.selectradio.com/
** Developer released a fix that is essentially a DLL overwrite. This method works! Delivers 32 and 128 streams, Howard is back in my car! DOESN'T REQUIRE CAPTCHA AND SAVES YOUR LOGIN / PASS!!!**
If you have a PPC (or Windows Mobile Touchscreen)
C-ApiSRO: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26310
** Developer did a 11/16 release that for now fixes the issue **
Of course, you always have the SiriusXM App for the iPhone, but no Howard Stern. I for one am personally highly upset that SiriusXM is making such a stupid move by overlooking cell phone internet users for their service. If they keep trying to sell those stupid radios, it's going to be over for them quickly.
SelectRadio has a 10-Day Trial, then you have to buy. Tewnty-five bucks, but weigh that against what the program can do and that the cheapest SiriusXM radio in the stores is about $60. Not to mention the app uses low resources (infinitely better than the Skyfire workaround) and also does XM and about a bajillion other stations. Well worth $25 to me, especially since my BlackJack II can go from speaker (which is pretty loud) to car casette adapter to headphones to line-in to pretty much any audio system... No Stiletto or portable they make will EVER do all of that.
And for the record, I am in no way affiliated with the maker of any of these apps, I just was freaking out looking for a good solution and finally found a few, including one that has me listening again. I preferred SiriusWM5, but oh well...
At least I'm listening the way I want to.
SelectRadio has a touchscreen version. The C-ApiSRO app is primarily touchscreen. The latest version should be in the post.
I used SelectRadio all the way home on my drive (30+ miles). Worked like a charm. SiriusWM5 was usually 51K bitrate. Got a solid 128K this time .
Give it a whirl. I doubt you'll be let down. The interface is a little clunky at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
C-ApiSRO latest is from May of this year. The 11-16 date was in 2008 Been using it for a while w/ no issues, works decent if your connection is good.
~Eric
Oops, I said May, it was March *sigh*
v2.0.5 March 19th 2009, which I think is the only zip. I was using it for the last 6 weeks (including yesterday) with no issues.
~Eric
This goes deeper than we may notice.
I was able to login and start streaming on my desktop today, so online is not an issue.
SiriusWM5 stopped working on my (hacked) Tilt. (I know this is a Rhodium forum, but the app is the same, right?)
I had my laptop tethered thru my Tilt using Internet Sharing. I was not able to get anything streaming thru the tethering.
I was able to access the Sirius player and get things playing through SkyFire though. Clunky, but it did play.
It makes me wonder if they detected the IP as a mobile one and that is also part of the problem, not just the coding of the app?

No. Not unless your cell company is blacklisting the traffic, in which case skyfire would not let you log on. Debunked.
The problem is that the infrastructure of the player is totally different now. It's still using MD5 for encrypting pass to the server, etc. But the stream targets have changed. This was done by XM's dev team. I actually made a phone call to product dev in NY and they confirmed it. They also simply said that 3rd party app support isn't in the cards, and that they are "working on" a player. Whatever, meh.
But anyway, stop trying to use Sirius WM5. Not only is the channel list out of date in the CAB, the code is trying to grab the captcha and stream from the wrong place. SelectRadio works. And, it gives you the 128k stream. If you have a touchscreen device, try C-ApiSRO. Most are reporting success with it.

I got an am using v2.0.5. It says connected ok (password etc.) but won't play - says "unable to load channel"; any ideas?
> I used SelectRadio all the way home on my drive (30+ miles).
that one says "no login server or bad login" next to a little green icon of a radio tower, even though I'm using the same username/password that works fine from a desktop browser. It claims it knows what's playing on each one (has a song title scrolling), but no sound coming.
What am I doing wrong?!? Do they have a support link? I can't find one on their website.

I've noticed that sometimes SelectRadio does this, but mainly because the initial connect is timing out. The tower can be red, and I still get it. Just pick another channel, then go back to the channel you want. It will usually work fine after that. I've only had to restart the app once, mainly because AT&T sucks total ass and drops my WAP connection.
Also, make sure you put the username and password for your Sirius account in before you try a channel. Sirius customers that have the premium internet account should hear best of XM channels, but the XM tab will not work. That obviously requires an XM internet account.
Can't use the default file explorer. If you do, the tun.dll you drop in the folder will be named "tun.dll.". It will not get the extension right. I had to install, then browse to the folder using a program called The Tool (http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Developer-Tools/File-Manager/The-Tool-Smartphone-84530.shtml) and delete the existing dll file. Then, I copy/pasted the new dll file into the folder. Voila, working.
Try that. I had more or less the same problem you are describing. The dll file being in the wrong place was the culprit. Oh, and you may want to install directly to the device instead of an SD card. I think the access time of the SD card can make WinMo progs act wierd sometimes.
The nag screen is a pain, but I plan on purchasing a key tomorrow (payday). SiriusWM5 using Windows Media Player Mobile worked fairly well, but SelectRadio is holding onto the connection a bit better. Either that, or it buffers the stream more. Trust me, I am horrendously picky when it comes to my apps, and this thing will inevitably work for you.
Let me know what happens...

C-ApiSRO is broken as well. The only one that seems to be working now is SelectRadio. This is just plain dumb that none of the free apps are working now thanks to a move on the server side at Sirius.
I think CardonWare (SelectRadio dev company) has posted a newly updated version that takes care of the dll issue. You may want to uninstall everything and start over.
I did a TrialPay and chose Rhapsody 14 day trial. Got a key for SelectRadio, then cancelled the Rhapsody trial.
Total cost? ZERO... POINT... ZERO .
Oh, and I have noticed some random errors in grabbing some Sirius channels. E-Street Radio for example can't connect at the moment. Random wierdness. But Howard 100 and most other channels I try are fine. Experiment heavily.
Alright, I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 and can't for the life of me figure out how to get Sirius or XM working on Select Radio, I continue to receive the 'no connection to stream server' error. Anyone else encounter this and if so, anything you could point me towards?
Thanks!
Thanks all, selectradio is working right now on my sprint touch pro 2, listening to howard right now.
I did have to exit the app and start it again, then enter my user login etc. and it started right up at 128kbs. so far does evrything siriuswm5 did. wish it had a screen toggle on/off feature.
above poster, some screens were slow to load at first when i started clicking to the sirius tab then channel 100, i know i missed the login page and it seemed to freeze after that, i exited then reopened and went slower, now it works on my sprint touch pro 2, hope it helps, should work for you.
Sirius WM6 to the rescue!
works post-sirius-fiddling and no more captcha!
http://forums.geekstoolbox.com/showthread.php?t=25946
Works great. Hey Now!!! Thanks
I have noticed that some of the channels don't work, and some may be missing, apparently because the channels.txt file (in the player's install folder) has dated info in it. This can be fixed by editing that file in pocket word and saving as plain text, of on a PC with notepad and copying back over the original.
As an example, Playboy radio would not work.
If you log in to the Sirius online with a PC and start a channel in the player, the URL for that channel looks like:
. . . .sirius.com/player/listen/play.action?channelKey=playboyradio&genreKey=sirentertainment&categoryKey=cattalk&stopped=no
The section in the channels.txt for Playboy radio looked like this:
99 | Playboy Radio
playboyradio
playboyradio
cattalk
when it SHOULD have looked like:
99 | Playboy Radio
playboyradio
sirentertainment
cattalk
So you can see how you can repair broken or missing channels by first using the Sirius browser radio to get the keys, then edit the file.
Guys,
Is anyone else experiencing problems with this?
I have both a Laptop that supports DLNA and a new Samsung LED TV.
I've set up the settings correctly and select the top play mode ~ Play file from my phone on another player.
After then selecting a media category and a list of files and~ Add to Playlist, as soon as I then go to the next instruction ~ Select a player, nothing is displayed.
For some reason neither the Laptop nor the PC is shown.
It works if I select the second method to display content from another device on the Galaxy S but the third and final method where you select both the source and destination media players again neither the Laptop nor TV is being shown?
All our DLNA TVs are dismantled at the moment so I cant test it. But it sounds like the phone isnt actually finding DLNA clients at all, it's only seeing network shares?
The top option work for me when streaming to/from window media player. I didnt even have to configure anything!

Interesting....
You say it works when streaming from Windows Media Player... On your Galaxy S did it first pick up any media devices?
The way I see it the Galaxy S must first choose a media device to send the files across. Only then will the PC be able to pick up the files.
Again, my problem is no media devices show in the list for me to select.
Can you explain stage by stage how you got this to work?
Maybe I have missed something here.
I've just tested this at home, and it seems to work. I can stream music from the computer either to the phone or to the WDTV live box.
Aside from setting up shared files on the computer, I didnt need to do anything with the phone (besides connect to my wireless router obviously).
Ok, been mucking about turning stuff on and off, and it can get into a state where it doesnt see any devices, But if I turn the phone off and then back on again it seems to see everything again...
If the phone can see your computers shared files, then there doesnt seem to be any settings left to play with.
Can you see the DLNA TV from the computer and 'Play To' it? (Er, think thats only available on Windows 7).
I am wondering if this thing is capable of PUSHING an HD file over DLNA.
I have a bunch of movies on my Media Center that are 720p to 1080p MKV's, AVI's, and WMV. I noticed that the Galaxy is going to be able to play MKV's so that's a step. I would like to bring a movie or two over to someones house, then push that video over their Xbox 360 to their TV. I wonder what this would do to the audio if it was even capable of this. Would it come out as stereo?
I'm just throwing some ideas around, but if it can do this its pretty much my dream phone. I have been trying to get this scenario to work since my Touch Pro and who wants to carry a cable around. It seems like everyone has a 360 or PS3 these days.

If you mean the other way round ~ can I see the DNLA Laptop from the TV, then yes Mark.
When you look at the TV it shows the Laptop with all the other connected devices, so it has no trouble at all in picking up the wireless DLNA Laptop... and yes, you are correct, it is a Win 7 64bit.
I'm back in theatre again for most of today so not sure when I'll next get a chance to try and sort this out.
It's quite obvious it is something simple. Come what may eventually I'll find out what it is.... (says he with blank thoughts).

No I meant the first way around can you see the TV from the laptop? from the Start Icon, select Computer, and at the bottom left of the window select Network. If your TV is broadcasting its DLNA support on your network I think it should appear as a device in the Network window on your Laptop. My WDTV Live certainly does.

Thanks Mark, I did'nt realize it did this.
I'll check tonight.
All I've found in the past is the laptop shows up on the TV amongst the other items connected.
Mark,
Well I checked it and sure enough, the TV is showing as a media device under Network.
What is initially interesting is the Galaxy is also there so you would like to think if the network can see all the devices then it should show their content as well.
Unfortunately not for me.....
If you double click on the Galaxy icon on the PC it opens Windows Media Player but the Galaxy is not listed anywhere within the contents displayed.
Further, back on the Galaxy All Share does not show any devices to play media on... It's just an empty screen saying "No Devices".
So Mark... I'm stumped!
I'm so glad I have surgery to fall on which is easier to perform.
Hmm ok, so probably best to simplify and focus on getting the phone working from the computer first. With AllShare running, you should see something like this in the left hand panel of Windows Media Player: (Note the Galaxy S as the last device)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

So this shows me streaming Coldplay from the phone back to the PC. Since you currently dont have this option, it seems like your Galaxy isnt on the network properly, although lets not rule out some computer setup issue. A common one on the PC is to turn off password protected file sharing.
But check firewalls, make sure your router isnt restricting the phone in anyway, that its got a sensible IP address etc, and not clashing with anything else.
Hi Mark,
I had a play today with both All Share and the Laptop which has Windows 7 64bit and also DLNA as standard fit.
As soon as I switch on All Share and select the top option of going into selecting what files to share I notice on the Laptop the Galaxy icon appears.
Unfortunately this is as far as we get here.... because if you then double click on the Galaxy icon which in turn opens up Windows Media Player, the Galaxy is not shown on the library list on the left of the screen.
However, once and I do mean once I did manage after selecting various files on the Galaxy (photos) to share with the Laptop and after clicking on "Add to playlist" the Laptops name popped up and I was able to select it and on the Laptop the Windows Media Player showed the contents of the Galaxy (just as in your diagram kindly provided).
On that one occasion when I did manage to get it to obtain a list in Windows Media Player, as mentioned back on the Galaxy it also found the Laptop's name as a media device which tallied and made sense why WMP was showing the Galaxy's photos.
However, as soon as I double clicked on one of the photos on the Laptop to show in WMP back on the Galaxy up came a warning message ~ "Sorry! The application Allshare (process com.se.android.app.dlna) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again".
If I then click on 'Force Close' it takes me back to the first All Share window and from this point on ever time I select files and "Add to Playlist" it again does not show any media devices nor any mention of the Galaxy in WMP.
As I say it happened just the once and no matter what I do I can not get it to do it again...
So, on the Galaxy after selecting the files to share and clicking on the bottom of the page "Add to Playlist" the screen jumps to ask me to select a device to play media clips on but there is still no devices being shown.
One other thing I noticed....... On that single occasion I did get my files to show on the Laptop, although I had only selected four photos to "Add to Playlist" it actually showed a thumbnail of ALL the photos stored on the Galaxy, not just the four selected?
So sorry about all this Mark.
Please don't put yourself out mate. Although I appreciate any help here in advice/ideas, the last thing I want to do is end up taking your precious time.
This may seem like a silly one, but have you rebooted your router since first connecting your Galaxy to your home network? I've found in the past that wireless devices always have a few niggles until I reboot mine, and now do it as a matter of course.
Beyond that, I have 2 machines to play with at home, one works almost flawlessly, the other is giving me some problems, i.e. it takes several refreshes to see the device sometimes, and I get the same crash you mentioned in the previous post maybe 10% of the time, but ultimately does work ( I can stream mp3 to or from windows media player and the phone, with allshare running) Stick with music for testing and put an mp3 on your phone so your not trying to go from one device to phone to another device. Just focus on phone -> comp & viceversa.
There is something wrong still as the Galaxy isnt properly on the network, from a media streaming perspective it appears as an unknown device on some other network.
Whereas my WDTV Live is identified for what it is and I dont need to select All Networks at the top to see that.
Ignore the bit where it shows custom settings, defaults also work fine.
Also remember to enable remote control on the PC to control it from your phone.
The only other thing I've discovered is you need to launch Windows Media Player on the PC before starting AllShare. Plus if after a few refreshes AllShare isnt listing any devices I just quit AllShare and relaunch it, and it then typically works first time.
I'm sorry I cant offer anything concrete, as I cant seem to break mine in order to fix it again.
Thanks again Mark for the details and screen grabs... truly appreciated.
I don't know what the heck it is but it just does not want to accept ANY Media Device period now.
I've tried rebooting the Router (BT Hub v2) but I know it's fine with all items connected to it:-
TV ~ Ethernet
Wii ~ Wireless
Fujitsu Siemens Tablet PC ~ Wireless
Acer 19" Laptop ~ DLNA
The router uses WPA and I don't want to change this.
Apart from DLNA the Galaxy has no problems with the BT Hub but I doubt it's the router as it won't even pick up the TV nor will the TV show it in it's list of Devices (The TV does show the Acer Laptop though).
I've got my settings exactly as you show....
The only difference I had is under 'Stream' I didn't have both items selected.
I've now done this but there's still no change.
I've tried coming out of All Share and going back in again but it doesn't matter if it's a Video, Image or Sound... as soon as you've clicked on the files to share and pressed share, when it then jumps to the next window to select the Media Device it's void of anything to select.
Windows Media Player I left open all the time in hope it might have picked up the Galaxy but no...
I'm going to have a look at using a Task Killer to force terminate All Share and try again but I'm not hopfull of getting a result.
Recommendations on which Task Killer?
I have my eye on two ~ Advanced Task Killer & Advanced Task Manager.
I use Advanced Task Killer, its an easy way to clean up everything in one go. I don't expect it will help in this case, but no harm in trying it.
The only other thing I can think of right now (a little pre-occupied with selling my house today) is disable the Windows firewall on the PC briefly and try it once more. If your router doesn't have a firewall built in, you'd best disconnect it from the outgoing internet cable while you do this)

Thanks Mark,
I've downloaded and installed ATK but as you say it's not done anything to sort out the issue but handy nonetheless.
Re the firewall, I doubt if this is effecting it as again I have no problems with the Samsung LED TV & my Acer Laptop. Both see each other fine.
I'm going to bury this problem for the time being Mark as I think both you and I have spent long enough. We're not getting any further despite your continued assistance so thanks again.
Right mate, I have a very busy day on the road tomorrow with two hospitals to attend ~ two lectures and one 'live operation' (live ops are where you first give a lecture on a procedure and follow it up in the afternoon with a live camera operation link back to the audience who attended the lecture).
It's great as the entire audience are camera fed back to me. All are on video & can participate both vocally and visually.
A great day but very tiring and it's going to be like this for the next few weeks so again a good idea to bury the project temporary.
Hi guys,
Google market version is the most up-to-date.
Soon to remove the BETA tag out of it.
New Link as of 13th of October!!
Ok, file handling should be spot on now.
I've tried several different ways of sending from good sources and bad sources and I reckon I cover all the bases.
To organise some stuff I've removed the internationalisation, sorry, for now is english only, soon I'll put back the other languages.
If I managed to put the tutorial on it on the next few hours I'll update it as V0.4 on the google play, but I'm not sure it's going to happen, maybe tomorrow.
so the plan now is:
- tutorial
- tips n tricks
- logging for missing intents (maybe)
- future feature? NFC? bump? who knows.
have fun!
New Link as of 08th of October!!
Hi again guys,
I found out what was wrong on the file on the 7th, it was not the transmission or connection or even anything WiFi related. It's just that the files can come from several different sources I'm not properly dealing with them.
So here's the deal, this new build, I just blocked the files the app is not handling properly (most likely from 3rd parties galleries, and should work as expected on local files from the stock gallery). Files that are currently not handling properly should just close the app and pop-up a quick message saying "Can't handle this 'Share' at the moment, we're working on it!".
so let's recap:
- local media files from the gallery should work
- connection process is still and will always be hardware/manufacturer dependent and it might or not work.
- transmission (once passes connection) should work rock solid. Including canceling transmission midway through and also once completed tapping on the notification to open the media.
What I'll work on next:
- proper handling of every possible file/intent
- include a tutorial that will appear the 1st time the app is opened.
- a tips & tricks section with what I learned until now on what's best to get it connected.
and after that we should be in a V1.0... does it sound ok?
have fun!
New Link as of 07th of October!!
In this one I completely redid the transmission process and it's ROCK SOLID !!!!
The version on the market if you try really big videos they'll eventually fail, with this new protocol I've transferred HUGE 1.7giga video file without any problem.
Furthermore there's TONs of optimisations on the transfer speed that you won't see on this version, but it's already on the file and it will be unlocked by the future paid version that give around 2 to 3 times after transfer times.
Before put this version into the market I'll include a tutorial and link to the youtube video, but you guys can already test it.
PS.: also there's not much internationalization on this one, there some parts that language will be lacking, I'm aware of it don't need to come tell me.
Have fun!

I've doing an open beta testing of the first and only (until now) WiFi Direct sharing app available in the Google Play.
here is the link for it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot
I just finished refactor most of the code and should be smooth stable now.
So I'm creating this thread to invite anyone that have a FORCE CLOSE to get a Logcat and post it here for me
Please also state if it was the Sender or Receiver, the phone manufacturer/model and which ROM you're running.
Please do not post if you try to connect but the other device fail to reply, or if you device reboots when you try to switch the WiFi Direct on.
Those problems are 100% unrelated to the App itself and it's direct related to the hardware and OS on it.
Developers info:
The WiFi Direct API is 100% with callbacks. So the app just requests a connection and wait for a callback. And sometimes the callback is "failed to connect".... why this happens? is up to the OS.. the OS is responsible to all the transactions and there's no API available for any app to interfere with the process.
Hi, Nice app! It didn't force close on me at all and the UI design has a good look and feel. I just tried it with my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus (both stock 4.1.1) and it worked. However, when launching the app to receive you might want to add a help menu or something to tell you what to do on the other device otherwise people might think to share something you need to launch the app on both devices and then share from there (this is what I did at first because I didn't watch your video!)
Is there any way you can launch the app automatically on the receiving device when the other device tries to send something? Also tapping "Shoot" to receive something is slightly odd. "Receive" or "Receive Shoot" might be better.

Yeah, the help will definitely be necessary but at the moment I'm focusing on nailing the actual software functionality. Non nexus devices not always works so nicely.
When I started developing I though about the same (auto launching) but it can't be done, unfortunately, I wanted something liked the show on last year Google io for he ask. But no, I couldn't do it without taking over ALL WiFi direct transactions on the device, which I reckon it would be bad a behavior. Maybe in the future I'll thin about it as an option for the paid version.
About the shoot.... hmmmm..... it kinda feels better to have the confirmation on the receiver, but for sure feels like the text could be different, but then the "cool factor" of it is to have that single big button with a very simple and almost graphical SHOOT, that won't even be translated to other languages.
Something to think about it.

nice app
waiting it support any file type
thanks
@Dev
Great work, any plans to expand the functionality and maybe expand to share a wireless shared connection from your laptop using direct wifi?

Nice initiative, I am on evo 4g lte. I tried it with my laptop sony viao, installed to latest atheros utility which haves wifi direct interface.
wifi shoot found it, invited it, get connected.
I just tried to send a songs or 3gp file thru root explorer. without enabling wifi direct from setting.
In send option it shows wifi shoot. I clicked on wifi shoot.
wifi shoot connect to my laptop wifi direct. then nothing no transfer.
Great work. Very high potential. once again great initiative. Thanks.
I'm sorry but you misunderstood the function of the app.
Is a direct transfer from android device to Android device, and both devices must have the app installed. It has never been meant to be used with a laptop.

Works great! I sent a small video from my S3 to my N7 successfully. Thanks a bunch, will try a big file later.

ohh got it. both device same apps. Thanks. will test it. Sorry
My Nexus 7 and S3 don't play wel together.
What does work is using the S3 as a hotspot and then run Samba on the Galaxy S3 (Root required)
Samba takes a while to activate.. but after it does you can browse your phone using the Nexus 7 and copy stuff... no limitations on specific file extansions either.
It work great... for a picture. But I want to transfert any file I want and Wifi Shoot! doesn't appear in "Send"/"Share" menu in ES file explorer or X-Port... What can I do ?
NFC pairing would be a great addition to this app! Maybe include it in a pro version of the app and charge a small fee? I'd definitely pay for it!

It's not the first time I hear ppl saying that S3 and N7 doesn't play nice together, but on the other side, there're reports that they do work nice.
Can you both tell me which versions of the S3 you have? Some US variant or the international?
thanks.
Work great beetwin mu gnex and n7
Nice work bedalus, now we only need The ability to share every file, not only media from gallery
dropped by a jellybeans cup...
Just downloaded to both my N7 and my GNex.
I really need something like this for files. As of right now, I'm using WiFi Explorer. It works but this would be faster.
The version from the Google play store (v0.3.5) worked fine both ways with my Galaxy Nexus with JB and my bro's Galaxy Nexus with JB. We both had to looking at the program during pairing to get the notifications though.
I was able to transfer a 323 mb .mkv video file in 2:30 mins. Pretty good considering transferring the file originally to my phone took about 15 mins over wifi via a PC router.
By the way, is there any reason in particular you made it so you can only transfer pics and video files? The program would be much more useful if you could transfer any file type.
Can i use it between galaxy S and SIII?
Please, add all kind of file type. Not only image and videos, also others type (.pdf, .zip, .dat…).
Wifi shoot installed on i9100 and i9000, both devices on Rom ICS AOKP milestone 6. The process work fine only if I follow exactly the same steps on the demo video :
Receiver:
1- Open wifi shoot and wait
Sender:
2- Open the apps where the file to send is
3- Share via wifi shoot
4- wifi shoot apparears and select client to invite
Receiver:
5- Accept the invite
6- Click on big button shoot
Sending + receiving…
So, if we follow the guide of use, wifi shoot work fine. But please, add support for all kind of file type. Not only image and videos, also others type (.zip, .pdf…).
Please, continue to develop this great app, I hope one day you will be able to win money with it.
Wifi shoot are not still unique for wifi direct. There is also this apps, but not working at all for my devices.

Hi,
thanks for the reply and tests. Could you further explain, how else were you expecting it to work? DId you try some other way?
I'm currently working on a better protocol to make the transfers more reliable, after that is fine tuned I'll enable every file type, multiple files and photos that are synchronised from picasa.
wifi shoot! is a great idea ... but would be better to have some kind of server on the phone that allow to share any file to another phone or tablet. Something like an ftp server or upnp/dlna server. This way we wont have to send the files frome the phone, we will just need to request it from the other device.
I don't know how wifi direct works ... but if it works using TCP/IP the only thing we need is to know de wifi direct IP address of the phone to connect to any available ftp/smb/upnp server phone from the other phone/tablet connected via wifi direct ...
the problem is: the available servers will be bound to the external IP only or will accept requests from the wifi direct interface? maybe this willraise the need of a special server and client prepared to work via wifi direct ..
PS: sorry about my poor english
has anyone figured out why the Xfinity TV app closes or how to fix this I have the newest version installed on my nvidia shield and the app closes after about 10 minutes of watching a live or on demand show and goes back to the Home screen? On my fire stick the app doesn't close but I get other playback error on live channels. The TV to Go app works 100% on my correctly it never closes but it lacks a channel guide and DVR abilities so I would rather use the X1 TV app instead. any suggestions on how to get the app to stop closing back to the home screen?
I can't even get it to authorize my device. I put in my info and it just gives me a retry error.

I think it did that for me too at first I had to call Comcast and tell them I to activate my account to use the X1 TV app they did something on their end and I was able to login and add my device to the system. . I wasn't able to use the app on any device though so that may have been something different

Same issue, want to get it working on the Shield. any fixes?
Have you tried this modded apk? It's been floating around and hasn't given me any issues. It even opens right to the live tv channel selection. I also created a banner so it shows up in the Android TV leanback launcher.
http://www.filedropper.com/xfinitytvgopackage
disregard, i just realized your post said not TV GO...
The reason xfinity tv app was closing was due to the blue tooth keyboard turning off after not being used got a WiFi one solved the problem or now just using the game pad right control stick. New issue is the newest version won't play content I have to use the old version of the app. Anyone have any ideas?
BUMP, we really need to figure this out! I was really enjoying the TV GO app working on Shield, now that it is retired we really need to focus on getting the replacement Xfinity TV app working!
Yes, mine does the same and won't work. Now it looks like it is dead and they have stopped the server. I have tried all different solutions. Is there a modded apk or a fix yet? I used to use the Xfinity TV Go and now it won't work. Xfinity TV won't even open.
I can confirm that the Xfinity GO app no longer works on the Shield TV and that the current Xfinity TV app crashes/closes after launch. My guess is that the app checks the type of device that the app is installed on and if it detects that it's an Android TV OS it automatically closes. I wonder if there's a way to modify the APK to either trick the device into thinking it is running on stock Android or remove the check altogether?

I rooted one of my shields so it is running full android OS 6.0 and in about devices it declares it's self as a Tablet thinking the same line of thought you are presenting. No dice. Downloaded the Tvgo app and it did just about the same thing. The app loaded and I got all excited then I selected some content I had recorded and live tv and both times it came up with something to the effect that your carrier does not support releasing DRM content to this device crap.. Ultimately they want you to rent one of their POS boxes. The silly thing is if that is what they are so worried about, losing that revenue stream, then why allow anything but their devices to run their content? Can still run on laptop or pc no problem. Apparently they are not aware of casting? It's all the same big corporation trying to hold onto market share by force instead of placing that energy into developing things people want along with the evolving tech. They will have to evolve or go the way of Block Buster video. LOL.
Hi Guys,
Been looking at this for a while. I have a Nexbox A95x Aml based Android box. The latest version of the Xfinity TV App (3.10.0.016) refuses to work . But... I have managed to find a earlier version that does. I can only presume after this version (3.2.1.028) they added the DRM type check , to check for either root or a "non approved" device.
I have tested this quite a bit and it does live TV and also you can even download (the holy grail lol) and watch shows offline. To do this, the app MUST be left on internal storage and not moved to the SD card.
The bad news is that at some point I bet Xfinity will force a update ie make this older version non working. But hopefully , someone here will be able to turn that off.
Dont forget to go to the Google apps store and disable Auto updates on this app ,otherwise your device wil just Auto install the newer version.
Hopefully , someone (much more skilled than me lol) may be able to compare this older version with the new one and disable DRM check for a newer version.
I have uploaded the version that works for me here:
h t t p://bit.ly/2gQn3eR
Sorry for the funny url , but XDA will not let me post urls until I have ten posts..
Any updates on making the official XFinity TV app work now that XFinity TV Go has been shut down?
I am also looking for someone who can mod the new Xfinity app (remove the HDMI check.......I think) to get it to work on the fire stick. The new version loads but will not open. The screen automatically goes blank and closes down.
I just wanted to let everyone here know that if you upgrade your shield to Nougat the Xfinity TV even older versions of the software that would work on prior to the new 7.0 firmware release now won't work at all so if this is something you want I would hold off on doing the 7.0 Nougat update to your shield I plan on reverting back my shield to regain the ability to use the Xfinity TV app.

Thanks for that information. Sucks for us Nougat upgraders though.
hey guys
I've got some pretty good news for those with the new Nvidia shield or have updated the old one to Nougat already and lost the ability to load the Xfinity TV app. I have found an alternative way to watch Xfinity on the shield Tv it is not an ideal way to watch and may not work for everyone's needs. I found that if I launch a game stream game on the Shield and Minimize the Game window before the game starts up or goes full screen, you will get a remote desktop like session which can be controlled with the the joystick on the gamepad. open a web browser and go to Xfinity and it works there is no lag or out of sync audio, it works pretty good, the Quality is better than casting a chrome browser tab from the PC, I also found controlling youtube from this remote desktop method is a far better interface than the Android TV app since you get the full website version of youtube instead of the slimmed down tv app. I should point out this nvidia Gamestream Remote environment is different than using a typical remote desktop client like the Microsoft Remote desktop client, most remote desktop clients don't offer the refresh rates needed to stream HD video without lags or audio syncing issues however the Nvidia Gamestream app does. I am sure there are other apps that can deliver a RDP session with the high refresh rates needed for viewing 1080p video over and RDP connection, I just haven't found one that works that will do this job. If anyone is aware of another app than can do this let me know I'd like to try it out.

We confirm these work
I have the 2017 Shield.
I have used BBCIplayer in the US on many Android devices over the years. I usually install from apk or a British Google Play account, and then use a smart DNS service (smart DNS sends the proper signals through a VPN so the BBC server sees me as being in the UK, but the actual video is not sent through the VPN. Except for the limited purpose, the device has a US ip address.)
For every device except the Shield, once the Iplayer app is installed, it stays installed and visible.
The Shield has its own Nvidia made version of Iplayer (the regular version does not work with Google TV.) I installed this once from the Google Play store with a UK Google Play account. It worked fine, then disappeared after a while. I can now get it to work by using a copy of the Nvidia Iplayer apk that I downloaded from the internet - I click on the apk in file manager and then click on the "market" option rather than the "install" option. I am then given a screen where I can "enable" the Iplayer, and it then appears again as a usable app.
If I go into settings when the app is enabled it shows as a system app, rather than a downloaded app (as does the proprietary version of the Amazon video player.)
One of the reasons that I like Android is that it has less of the "big brothery" stuff than IOS (or a Roku, for that matter.) So it pisses me off that the device I paid for is actively frustrating my watching what I want to watch with an app which is on the machine. I'm not saying that Nvidia should be providing me with a VPN connection, but on the other hand it shouldn't be actively blocking me from what I want to do.
Short of hooking up to a VPN 24/7,any ideas as to how to stop this disabling of the app?
I want to try this.. Brit now in Germany. I installed express vpn on my shield but didn't look for iplayer yet.
I assumed I would need vpn set to UK all the time I wish to use BBC then disconnect vpn for normal use.

From Nvidia :
The BBC iPlayer app is only available inside the UK. If you are not located in that location or have recently moved out of the UK then the app will no longer be available from the main menu of SHIELD Android TV.
If you are located in the UK, please ensure that Location Services is enabled. To do so, navigate to the Settings menu and then into the Personal->Location menu and ensure it is enabled.
If you prefer not to use Location Services, please ensure that the device language selection is set to "English (United Kingdom) (GB)". To do so, navigate to the Settings menu and then into the Preferences->Language menu and select the language from the list.

read the OP its pretty obvious he is using vpn hes in the USA what he wants is a work around for the app being disabled because its not licesensed for use outside the UK hence my post:good:
Hi, after battling with the same issue for some time on the 2015 shield, I've been able to work out a solution;
I've posted the solution up here;
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1011733/shield-tv/how-to-fix-the-disappearing-bbc-iplayer-app-for-out-of-region-/
In-case it gets taken down for any reason, the solution is to extract out the APK of the iplayer system app (using ES file explorer on the shield TV), then pull the resulting APK into "APK Editor Pro" and then modify the app name and package name to create a new APK (making sure the package name doesn't have iplayer in it) and then sideload it onto the shield TV.
This way when the shield is booted, only the inbuilt iplayer app is disabled, but not the modified cloned app.
I expect this same process to work with many other inbuilt apps on the shield TV that might be disabling out of region.
Hope this helps someone!

hi, those products must be reporting false positives. As said I simply used "APK Editor Pro" to change the information, so unless this in injecting malware (which I'd say is most definitely not the case). I described the process so there is nothing stopping you from taking the exact same approach yourself and generating the modified apk yourself. I just installed Virustotal and it said the apk simply wasn't in its database (which is correct as APK Editor Pro has to resign the app as part of the packaging process).
Hi Watsonash, I aplogize, I should have clarified in my original comment that I didn't think you were purposely putting that apk out there with malware; I was just trying to be brief in my comment, which isn't something that comes naturally, as you'll see... My reasons for posting were to let you know that a scan dectected malware so you could look into why that was & fix it - that being said, every day is a new school day for me, because I wasn't aware of the false positive thing until you mentioned it. Now I understand that it's not something that you can"fix"and it isn't likely infected. I don't know how to modify anything - the only knowledge I have is knowing where to look to find clever people like you who do the work to fix annoying issues like the iplayer disappearing. I am eternally grateful for people like you who figure these things out for people like me & to have learned something new about the false positive issue; I was stupidly thinking that since two different websites showed positives that something was there, but now that I've read into a bit, I've clued in that the majority of the actual antivirus programs on both sites marked it clear. I see now that there are many variables taken into account when these programs come up with a result that doesn't look good.
Again, I apologize; this is why I usually just read & then research & never post comments - I should stick to doing that! Thank you for figuring out this fix; it's very much appreciated!
