I've been messing around with WP7 for 3 days, Theres just too many technical variables to stop WP7 from being fun.
WP7 won the battle, but not the war.
I've just decided to wait for Cotulla to make announcements.
Very thankful for the work DFT have put in.

To quickly fix the SD problem from WP7, I just simply inserted the SD into my digital camera and re-formatted it, and boom.

Ive tried several WP7 NAND builds in this forum but everyone seem to give the same issue far as it randomly freezing and rebooting especially when the screen is off, Is anyone else having this issue and if so is there a solution?
Phone: TmoUS Leo
Radio: 2.15.50.40
Build: Frantic HD WP7
Yes ive had this same problem...would also like to know if there are any solutions...thanks
Try another SD card. Go for a SanDisk one as they are more compatible. WP7 doesn't accept many SD cards and you both have the typical symptoms of an incompatible card

Yes, and yes.
Random reboots are most likely caused by your MicroSD-card (WP7 will not work well with some cards). The only solution: try a different card.
There's a thread where people report which cards worked for them here.
ignore that thread
There is absoluetly no way of know what card will work.
statistically you have a better chance with a sandisk class 2 or 4 BUT that is not always the case, you may have a generic home brand class 10 that works but more likely you'll have better luck with those class 2 and 4 cards
No one is really sure why WP7 is having issues, the best idea so far is that its random read/write speeds that are the key, some class 10 cards have massive sequential write speeds but slower random reads which is where WP7 comes unstuck
Also, just because some one has a sandisk 8GB class 6 that works fine doesnt mean you will have the same luck with the exact same model because different cards use different components, even within the same make and model.
For example i have two 4GB sandisk class 6 cards, purchased on the same day at the same shop, both cards are model identical, one works fine the other has issues such as restarting, wifi not working and lagging
and to throw another spanner in the works i have a card that works perfectly, up until i fill the card to a certain point, then it starts all this restart business, if i dump a few hundred MB of music on the card taking it past that point it works fine . The card was been tested on the PC and i cant see anything wrong with it.
So, that leave me to think that for some reason when WP7 was trying to access that portion of the card for SYSTEM usage it was perhaps too slow to use or had some other issue, i can play music from that area however.
I just installed WP7 on my HD2 earlier today, was running fine for about.. 3-4 hours, I guess I was on it a good bit, not really letting it go to sleep for an extended period of time, but after I stopped messing with it, I noticed it rebooted itself, then it got froze on the lock screen, until it rebooted itself randomly again,, and then it did a complete wipe of my data on another random reboot?
Is this due to the SD card?
And can I just remove the SD card to fix this until theres some guarenteed cards that work with WP7?
or will it not boot without the SD card in?
Thanks alot.
it will work without SD but laggy and you will only have about 150MB of space.
good luck waiting for a card, its supposed to be unremovable so i doubt you will see over the counter products, im afraid its take a guess or buy an HD7
oop! yeah probably your SD
It is your sd card, sorry. Try a new one.
so nothing to do with how you format the sd card?
The guidelines

the WP7 doesn't format the SD in options menu.
I tried this soluction and the phone appears more stable:
1- go in the
(caution----your data will be eraser)
settings -> about -> reset your phone
2- then the phone reset and after the MALGRD screeen push VOL UP and VOL DOWN
to appears the screen when you press the VOLUP to eraser all data and recovery the phone in factory status.
3- after this the phone start with the SD clear.
my phone don't freeze more after this steps.
I have search high and low on the forums for an answer to this issue and am not finding anything. I have a friend who I just helped set up Android on sd. I gave him same versions I have had great luck with. HE has a reoccurring problem with his power button. When you push it to bring the unlock screen up, it wont go right away. You have to push it several times to get it up.
It does not have issue in WM 6.5, just any Android op on sd card. He has tried many different version, hard reset the phone, formated the card and started over. Nothing fixes it! His sd card is a 6 GB class 4, brand new.
I have successfully run Android from sd for sometime now on my phone. NO PROBLEMS! I haven't had it do this so I have no idea how to help him.
Can anybody give me some direction???
I'm having the same problem. Every time I press the red button on HD2 it seems like the touchscreen get blocked. Somebody help us!
it may be sd card related. i have 2 sd cards:sandisk 16gb class2 works great. but toshiba 4gb class4 gives the problems you mentioned. there was a thread about sd card and android.search for it in xda.if your sd is not good for android you may face problems especially with sense sd builds.
look at this thread ...it might help u

Maybe you should try an other SD, try yours for example, if it doesn't work, try NANDROID? This will probably fix the problem, because here's no sd card required to run
Hope this helps.
It's definitely not SD related with mine... I think it's dust, anyone know how to clean the contact?
Hello guys , Been a member here and a browser here for a fair while. And once again iv'e come to grab some advice from the guru's on site. My questions are.
1) Decent WP7 Rom , With Chevron ETC Built in. Im currently using XBMoD's WP7 but im having FAR to many troubles with it its unreal. One being when i ring my bank or anything with 'Key Input' it fails to recognise the keys i press. And i end up having to Remove the battery to turn it off. Cause the Phone sits on 'Ending call' for as long as its on i left it 45 minutes and it didnt end once.
2) Compatible DUAL BOOT Android Build that goes side by side with WP7 , Without to many hickups.
3) What size SD Card is most viable for Dual Booting? Im guessing something on the 4GB+ Side. I only have a 2gb one atm and im doubting that has enough space to work with.
I LOVE having WP7 as my Daily OS. But as i use my phone for ALL internet banking etc this problem is becoming a huge issue. Ive seen many new builds on the forums but im Nervous of testing , As i dont want to flash my phone to many times.
1. I can not give any feed back on a WP7 ROMs cause I have never tried any of them. Sorry!
2. I can give you feed back on a Android SD card build. A lot of people on here that dual boot WP7 and Android use American Android, plus it is made to use with MAGLDR. Read the quote below from post #ยน of the thread.
BOOTSDfromMAGLDR: includes optional rootfs.img that allows to boot build from magldr (!readme! in /sdcard/Android/SDMAGLDR)

3. You are correct about your asumption on the SD card. I would definitely suggest a 4 gig or higher SD card. Actually I would go with a 8 gig or higher if it was me, bit that is just me.
Hope this hels some.
Hello everyone,
I'm working on a little project, a YouTube series of videos going through the usage of different Android builds on the X1, covering installation, appearance, how it runs on the hardware, and what it is like to use on a daily basis.
There are plenty of videos already that go over the installation, but I'm hoping that this first video might help get new people interested in Android and in experimenting with their phone. Once I complete more videos, perhaps these videos will help people find builds they are interested in.
The first episode is maybe a bit rough, I'm still working on a consistent format. Let me know what you think, what could change, what could be added, and how you would find a video like this helpful or useful!

My SD card is broken and now my computer is not detecting my SD Card at all... it's broken... just because I r=use Android in X1
The two most likely causes I can see for that are:
1) Normal wear and tear - the SD card failed from normal use. All flash memory can only be written to so many times before it stops working. MicroSD cards are cheap, don't let one failed attempt discourage you from ever trying again!
2) Partitioning might not work properly on some SD cards. Try with another brand.
If you didn't create the FAT32 partition first, or at all, Windows won't be able to see the files. However, it should still be able to see the SD card with a program like Minitool. If you can see it with Minitool, just remove the partitions you made for Android, and just make one single FAT32 partition (primary). Windows should be able to see it again.
If you can't see it in Minitool, try again using another memory card reader. If you still can't read it, then the SD card is likely bad.
After my phone started looping, it was doing a full bootup to the homescreen then almost instantly freezing, I decided to update my WM7 to the new XBmod-Yuki updateable rom.
I did everything as it was said, install wm6.5, format card, etc. i even reinstalled everything hspl, radio, magldr 1.13 just to make sure everything was good to go.
NOW once i finally got it up, its freezing AGAIN at the home screen after it boots up......
I've been running WM7 for about a year (basically since it was available for the HD2). The whole time i've been using this same SD card, the 16gb sandisk HC card. (i'm assuming it's a class 2? (there's a 2 inside of a circle on the top right of the card, beside the word SanDisk)).
Has my SD card bit the dust? or what.... and if it has, does anyone know of a cheap card that 100% works? all i need is about 8gb.
Thanks,
Michael
ALSO i can remove the sd card and it'll run fine.. though i've got no contacts and all that stuff.

There isnt any 100% compatible cards that you can identify without trying it, although for a while i think AT&T were selling some in their stores in the states.
the problem is that an SD card may do 1 of several things, it "might" be 100% compatible, it might be mostly compatible or it might not work at all, the chances are most of us fall in to the latter two
Its only when you access portions of the card that will crash a mostly compatible card, for instance, i can copy music over portions of my card that fixes the reboots for me, but i might find that in another 3GBs time, i get more issue, so its like trial and error. Also because data isnt dumped on to the SD card sequentially problems can crop up any time so it might not be a new issue for you at all
I gave up on the Update-able ROM, I installed HD2O 1.26 LEO71_8107 ROM, and haven't had a lockup since, (it's only been about 12 hours though). I had the earlier version of HD2O's rom before i tried the update-able one from Yuki and XBmod. So IDK what's different between the update-able & the HD2O one. Possibly its the "sometimes work card" issue that you talked about.
