After my phone started looping, it was doing a full bootup to the homescreen then almost instantly freezing, I decided to update my WM7 to the new XBmod-Yuki updateable rom.
I did everything as it was said, install wm6.5, format card, etc. i even reinstalled everything hspl, radio, magldr 1.13 just to make sure everything was good to go.
NOW once i finally got it up, its freezing AGAIN at the home screen after it boots up......
I've been running WM7 for about a year (basically since it was available for the HD2). The whole time i've been using this same SD card, the 16gb sandisk HC card. (i'm assuming it's a class 2? (there's a 2 inside of a circle on the top right of the card, beside the word SanDisk)).
Has my SD card bit the dust? or what.... and if it has, does anyone know of a cheap card that 100% works? all i need is about 8gb.
Thanks,
Michael
ALSO i can remove the sd card and it'll run fine.. though i've got no contacts and all that stuff.

There isnt any 100% compatible cards that you can identify without trying it, although for a while i think AT&T were selling some in their stores in the states.
the problem is that an SD card may do 1 of several things, it "might" be 100% compatible, it might be mostly compatible or it might not work at all, the chances are most of us fall in to the latter two
Its only when you access portions of the card that will crash a mostly compatible card, for instance, i can copy music over portions of my card that fixes the reboots for me, but i might find that in another 3GBs time, i get more issue, so its like trial and error. Also because data isnt dumped on to the SD card sequentially problems can crop up any time so it might not be a new issue for you at all
I gave up on the Update-able ROM, I installed HD2O 1.26 LEO71_8107 ROM, and haven't had a lockup since, (it's only been about 12 hours though). I had the earlier version of HD2O's rom before i tried the update-able one from Yuki and XBmod. So IDK what's different between the update-able & the HD2O one. Possibly its the "sometimes work card" issue that you talked about.

Ok, I have SPB backup to backup my device every morning at 2am. I have been doing this for the past few months, with no problems at all. Anyway this morning I woke up, and there was a message on the screen saying "backup unsuccessful" but the HD2 did soft reset, because I seen the splash screen for a few seconds.
Anyway I noticed that the wallpaper was not showing, and didn't think anything of it at first. But when I tried playing some music, my device didn't show the Micro SD card as being installed. So I popped the card out, and back in, and still the HD2 couldn't read it. Also under the "SD card & phone memory" it shows no SD card installed, even though the card it in the HD2.
Got home, and tried putting the Micro SD card in my PC, and even my PC won't read the card. Don't get any error messages, put it just shows nothing?
Bit gutted about this, as I had my last 3 backups on the SD card, along with other documents I need.
Suggestions please?
seems the hd2 is hard on memory cards. I scan and fix mine about 3x a week just to be sure. Since then I haven't had any problems.
My memory card would not allow me to add anything on to it.,.,pics I took wouldn't save and such.,I even tried it in a digital camera with the same results. I couldn't even format it on my PC.,just gave me an unsuccessful reply. One thing I did notice was I couldn't move certain stuff off the card (I think it was in opera) it would show me the file and when I tried to move it off the card it said the item no longer exists.,or something along those lines.,(sorry I'm at work and it's been a while since I have had this happen..,I could always reattempt and post results if you guys would like) I threw in an 8G card and everything has been fine.,but would really like my 16g card back

Gonna keep that in mind. Purchased a new 8GB card, but had to restart my phone from SCRATCH!
Hi
There is a quick link to find out if you cards are real or not? I cannot post this link , but Google detecting usb counterfeit drives.
I know a lot of people buy cheap from ebay etc, and few are real good copys. Always remember to buy sealed branded makes with the class in the circle (2,4 or 6)
Living here in Thailand i know all about the copies!! I bought a few, and yes they were copies not 8gb, but 2gb. so at least with the link above it can keep you right.
Also when you get your new real card, erase it in you mobile, then format it before use.
I back up my SD to my D/Drive, but i unhide and show all files on the main computer to make sure all files are transfering over, including the hidden ones.
Just a few tips lads.
Russ
Hi, My 2 MicroSdHC 8GB Memory card experienced the same. 1st card only work for 1 and a half day and the 2nd card only work for 1 day!! It's showed NO SD CARD on my HTC HD2 Leo. I bought both card on Ebay. They sent me the replacement card. Unfortunately both card are same. They claimed that they are selling 100% Genuine Micro SD Card!! Lucky I am getting my full refund from them after open a dispute!! Now, I am trying to get other 16GB MicroSDHC for mh HD2 Leo. Hopefully the new 16GB card work well with my HD2 Leo.
Just installed W7 on my HD2 and it reboots itself every 15-20 min. Whether is plugged in or not. I've checked the SIM card. No problems there.I have 3 batteries, original power cable & 1 extra one.
Here is my observation. If I change the colors from default Dark/Brown backround to lets say white/blue - once it reboots then it comes back to the original state of colors.
Not sure if the backround has an impact. There are no other errors to check. By the way this is my 2nd W7 install. First one was the same
If I put back 6.5 the phone is solid. Has anyone experienced this?
Have tried to see whether your sd card is compatible or not ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904
Try to put another sd card.
I have 2 16GB SanDisk originals that came with the HD2 phone. Also I bought another 10Class 16GB. Same story
So if the problem is the SD then by removing it completely then the phone would not reboot anymore? Just curious to see if thats the issue
You can't remove the sd card permanently, WP7 requires an sd card.
I'm not sure but several people have been reporting issues with the original sd card.
I'm using a Kingston 8GB class 2 without any problem. Maybe the problem is with the ROM itself ? Try to flash it again or try to flash moon light or ver 1.00 ?
I'm not sure if we have the same problem, but I narrowed it down to the radio. It seems when you have poor reception, and try to use data, the phone just reboots. I didn't want to use the latest radio because of short battery life, but it just works... It fixed my weird reboots. Try playing with radios. Also note that you might get a couple freezes/reboots until everything is settled
i had the same problem.. i installed it without the sdcard...and now it doesn't reboot...
It's your sd card buddy.
not really
In my case I have win 6.5 original, from vodafone, the phone is simlock free,
no sd card, no extra programs, just original resetted to factory, and still restaarting 2-3 times a day.
Hello everyone ,flashed magldr 1.13 and a wp7 rom and my phone reboots and freezes along with when my phone goes into sleep mode and I press a key to wake it up,it usually doesn't respond or just reboots....any suggestions ?
Sounds like you're using an incompatible sd card... WP7 is very picky with what SD cards work with it. You need one with good random access speed (which has nothing to do with class... in fact higher class cards tend to have lower random access speeds).

Confirmation
I agree with you, the symptoms are exactly like what I used to have with my first attempts with WP7 using the originally supplied sdcard (T-Mobile HD2). Believe it or not, I exchanged my sdcard with my brother's (from his omnia1) which was the same make, size, and class; voila, no more problems.
Later on, I purchased an 8 GB class 4 and tried it with WP7 and the same problems returned... so, it REALLY is picky about sdcards.
I hope this helps - as a confirmation.
Good info guys, using the mobile 16gig that came with phone...also bought a 8gig class 4 sd card yesterday and still same problem ...gonna buy another 16gig class 2 when I get home later ....do I have to flash rom again when I change sd card?????
WP7 doesn't support swapping of SDcards, so its going to reset immediately anyhow! For the sake of thoroughness, turn your phone off, put in the new SD, goto magldr's USB Flasher mode, and flash the DFT WP7 ROM.
Enjoy
Note: check out the thread on compatible sdcards before buying your new one. Cheers

no you don't, follow the steps from this site
http://www.techienote.com/tag/technology
you will get your information back with the old system, but but!!! if you didn't get a stable wp7 i mean if you didn't use it for a good time more than 5 days.
it would be better to flash new wp7 on ur new SD card.
please help why dose my phone keep restarting?
it seems to just have gotten even worse!
everythans up to date i just dont understand why it keeps restarting?
I think your Sdcard does not match to Wp7.
Change another sdcard and try again
I am using Sandisk 8m that for your reference.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App

I have 2 cards thay are both sandisc one is 16 gb the other is 4 gb i think thay are both class2 but am unsure thare is a logo that says c2 in the top right of the cards
however I dont think thats what the probulm is!
but am unsure.
I realy hope someone will help me figure this out.
Are you having this problem with BOTH SD cards, or just one?
The SD card, WP7, HD2 combination is very finicky. My Kingston 8GB c2 seemed to be functioning perfectly fine, with the exception of 6-7 hours battery life w/ little to no usage. I also noticed that it took a while for apps to install at the last step of a hard reset on 7720.
Thinking that Kingston was good, I upgraded to 16GB c4. The device wouldn't even boot past the splash screen after leaving magldr. So, I changed to a PNY 16gb c4 and got to see just how badly my 8GB had been performing. The apps that took a while to install at the last step of hard resetting Mango were installed in an instant. And my battery life tripled. I don't have to worry about my phone dying anymore.
So, it's very likely that your SD card can be causing the random reboots. Use dev_storagelock to unlock the card you currently have installed. Perform a hard reset. Stop the process when magldr starts and swap cards. Allow the new card to be integrated into WP7 and see if the reboot problem persists.

It's probably not the ROM and most likely the SD card. That's what WP7 does. It's super picky.

i did a haed reset and cleard all crc data the problum still ocurs
the only diffrence to both of the sd cards a i have is size
so unless i was to go buy a higher class im gessing buying another would be pointless
the weard thang is this didnt alwase happen
i used bttfv1 no problums
had bttfv2 then all sorts of problums started happening first time i flashed most of the updates with zune
then was forced to start from scrach agin after i messed up my registry with advanced config
second time i upgraded to bttfv2 i used the one shot method and im not exactly sure but i think thats when i started haveing the issue.
You allready know what's wrong, it's the SD cards you've been using. Keep trying with class 2\4\6 Sandisk cards.

what was that a sarcastic remark? & no i dont know whats wrong because as i stated before i didnt have this problum before my previous installation.
i am useing sandisk class2 16gb i am useing the card that came with the phone i realy dont understand why that would be the issue?
whats the best card to get then?
Your SD card would be the issue if the card or some sectors on the card lacks the required random read\access speed. This could very well create problems on one installation while working seemingly fine on another.
I've already said what cards I believe gives you the highest chance of working, you'll just have to keep trying with those. Theoretically you could also try reinstalling the whole thing and hope that no critical files ends up on the lower speed sectors of the card, but I don't know what chance that would have of working.
The only marketable difference between the cards may be size, but WP7 doesn't really care about that. When I we say that it's picky, we really mean it. You can have great success with one card, and then put another in of the same brand different class and WP7 will no longer boot. SD cards affect battery life and everything.
By an SD card from Fry's, if there's one around. They've got a 15 day return policy w/o restock fee. I only went through 2 cards finding the right one to upgrade to, but was prepared to go through their entire selection and the sales girl even told me to not feel bad about doing it.
Hi,
probably you must calibrate battery or yours SD card not works correctly...

I had the same issue bu not due to Sd card
I have a Kingston 16GB calss2 works perfect
The issue was that the original rom was American English
if i istall like it is everything works good and since i/m greek i can use also the buld in greek keypad with no problem
BUT when i change to my language the full functions of the phone , then it keeps
restarting byitself ....
For me no problem to work with the english menu at all , so i keep the device in english and works.
I am using the DFT WM7 11.11.11 HD2O© v1.23b1 WP7 BUILD 7720, with the stock sd card that came with my US T-mobile HD2, however some main issues I really cant figure out.
-Will not wake up from stand-by mode! (Have to remove battery to reboot!)
-Constant freezing when switching between apps
-Phone restarts when trying to load text messages (0 messages in folder)
-Gives the loading... screen when going to freeze.
Im stuck... how can I fix this please!
try removing the sd card and then see if the phone works. it could be your sd card isnt compatible with wp7 and is causing the issues
as above, its most likely your SD card, it may work but that doesnt mean its compatible, same goes for any of us, it may be fine right up to the point you fill xx% of the card then bam, lock ups etc
Thanks! Will do a lil bit more research on the sd card and find a more compatible one.
there isnt any "compatible" ones, its very much luck, (except some PNY cards that are now being sold and WP7 compatible) we may have the same card but one might not be any good.
However, you can increase your chances
stick to a class 2 or 4 card
build quality (branded) does not mean its going to work
the PNY cards (its not all of them, you need to check their website an find the model numbers) would be your safest bet but they do cost more than your average card, of course, it will cost less if you happen to get 3 dud cards in a row....
Mine is 90% compatible, the odd freeze here an there, if i fill the card with 200MB of music i can over come some of this, its almost like it has bad sectors that WP has a fit over, filling those sectors seems to fix my issues, until i hit the next set of bad sectors
however there isnt any actual bad sectors, a lengthy check told me they were all perfect so its more likely that some parts are quicker than others and perhaps that is why i have these issues.
hope that helps!
