Now We know our HD2 can boot Android,Meego, ubuntu,Windows Mobile 6.5,Windows Phone 7,Windows 95,Windows 98,heres something else we might be able to add to that list,Windows 7 ,You might need an 32gb SD card to do it,and you would probably need to partition it but here it is,on youtube,Then again it could just be remote desk top

Cmon dude seriously? Are you telling me you didnt know that this was obviously only remote desktop??
Also why on earth do you think he disabled comments?
PS. The "Getting Stupid Now" part of your title was obviously referring to yourself then?
Sorry dude, had to get that in
Looks shopped to me. I can tell because of some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few shops in my time...
But seriously...the first video looks halfway real, but the second one(your link)...I dunno...seems WAY too fast to be real. And also, he's got what appears to be 3 different HDD's under My Computer, which could just be partitions, but he also appears to have 2 CD/DVD drives...again which could be virtual drives but still. On an HD2, what would the point of multiple partitions on an SD card be? With 32GB being the limit of MicroSD right now, I just don't see a reason to partition it. He also has comments disabled, which is usually because the video isn't real IMHO.
Not to try to disprove this or anything, all I'm saying is it took months to get XP to even BOOT on the HD2, much less actually be useable.
I agree with the bro above me...I think it's Remote Desktop.
...........fail!
Remote Desktop, for sure. If it was possible to run Windows 7 on HD2, XDA would've had a forum for it, obviously.

Alright well randomly when i would go to the photo album i could scroll through a few photos, then "We're Sorry..." A problem has occured with Manila.exe
I did some research and people that tried formating their SD Card, got it to work again. Well since it worked for them i decided to try it...not knowing its just going to delete everything from my SD Card...So I deleted everything from my SD Card.. now what? I take it i should do a factory reset? Will that put all the default stuff back on the SD Card, like Transformers 1 & 2?
At the moment i writing all my contacts down...but can someone please help me figure this out? I just wanna go to bed cause i got work in the morning..
The HTC HD2 is such a hassle, theres always something wrong with it.
The movies are gone. Sorry. Do a backup or copy sdcard contents to your desktop next time.
Nope. You should always back up your content that is on your SD card before you format. Its gone for good.
Well **** my lifeee. Ok would T-Mobile be able to fix this? Cause this is just getting too confusing. I hate this phonneee...also my phone isnt reading my SD Card.

Do you have it connected to the PC in "disk drive" mode? If so, your phone won't see your SD card while it's connected that way, only while it's connected via activesync.
Hmm, well yes it was lol. Is there a site or some source i can just download the default SD Card files from?

Not the movies. The games etc can be found in the sticky at the top of this section titled "Links to cabs, ROMS, how to's, & Jaime's "New to WinMo & Absolute newbie tweak guide"...in there are links with all the other stock apps from the HD2 (and a bunch of other stuff you should probably check out).
You might be able to go to a T-Mo store and see if they will swap out your sdcard with one from a return unit.
Don't give up on your hd2, it is a great phone. Everyday I find something new about my phone that makes me happy I went with it. WinMo is complicated, but once you get it set up, it runs really well.
Well im kinda stuck with this phone for 2 years. Not much I can do. So far it pisses me off alot, like when i receive a text, my phone freezes for about like 15 seconds while it loads to my phone. That and the fact its slow and it just fails as an OS.

You really need to read that new-to-winmo guide in the thread I mentioned above. In fact, here's the direct link for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688928
Then go back and read everything else in that thread I pointed you to...with a little care, WM can be a wonderful OS...I wouldn't trade it for any other, personally. There's solutions for every one of the issues you've mentioned, if you'll just take the time to read and learn here at xda.
I believe there is s fix for the text lag, but I don't know where it is. I must be lucky because I don't have the text or music tab lags. I have around 500 texts with about 350 from one person and I get very little lag loading messages and I have 8 plus gb of music and the sense music player works great.
Try Cookies Home Tab or maybe one of the custom roms.
Okay well I still cant view my photos without "Manila.exe" to crash. Should I just restore my phone, or is there a fix.

Yes if it's still doing that after the card reformat, a hard-reset might be the best shot at clearing it up. Are these pics you've taken with the camera, or ones you copied to your SD card? If it's the latter, how many pics do you have on there?
Also, just fyi, you don't have to write your contacts down to save them...if you just run the myphone app that's already on your phone, it will back them up along with your text messages, and allow you to restore them to the phone after a hard-reset or a ROM flash.
Well i saved a bunch of pictures i got off google on too my phone, and thats when it started having the error. Um where is the myphone app located?
You can copy all your contacts to your sim card instead of writing them down...just saying to save you some time.

or use mobile back up.
But make sure your MicroSD isn't corrupt. Try a different MicroSD and see if it works. It might be the card reader in the phone.
Might be able to get a warranty replacement if that is the case.
Im just going to use Microsoft My Phone its easier, and i dont have to click one by one just to add contacts to my sim card. Um im sure my SD card is fine, it just has nothing on it lol. Im going to run the the T-Mobile store tomorrow and see if then can exchange the SD card for one with all the default stuff on it.
Alright well i backed up everything i needed on Microsoft My Phone. Now im just going to do the hard reset.

Once you've done that, just run the myphone app again...it will have you sign in, then it will update the app, and then it will download the contacts and messages etc back down to your phone.

It's never been a problem. 3.x and higher use MTP so they can stop using FAT32 for internal storage. Linux does MTP just fine. What are you talking about?

USB Mass Storage is the old method and it shows up as a drive. The Droid X is older than the Xoom therefore it is using USB Mass Storage.
MTP is Media Transfer Protocol and is the method used by 3.0 and higher.
How is it that you're using Linux and you don't understand this stuff?

Hmmm, from Android Honeycomb 3.1 Details ...
...Android 3.1 still isn’t intended, at the operating system level, for managing external storage devices. This detail, which came out in conversations I had with Google engineers today, explains why the Android file system organization is, well, a mess...
“We don’t want to expose the user to file locations,” explained Hiroshi Lockheimer, director of engineering at Google. “How do you manage that as a user? The not-good answer is with the file browser.” Lockheimer says that many of the experiences I’ve seen so far are what individual hardware manufacturers have enabled, as opposed to what Google has provided natively. The good thing is that Lockheimer says Google is looking at ways to do this; but the problem hasn’t been solved yet...

He did answer you. The xoom uses mtp which will not show up as a drive in Linux unlike older android which used mass storage. Mtp allows you to add files with out having to unmount the file system on the xoom. There are many threads on how to set mtp up. If you're new to Linux it may seem hard to do but its simple. Do a Google search for mounting xoom Ubuntu and you should find them easy.

totally agree. there are lots of things i understand why they're waiting, but this? come on. i could clear all on my phone.
I just want to clear up a misconception about MTP. It is not a cross platform solution for transferring files.
My post from another thread on the subject:
I can mount my Xoom in linux using libmtp and mtpfs, however, it's slow, kludgy, and generally feels like it will flake out at any moment. Additionally, even when it's mounted, I can't seem to copy music across properly; it doesn't keep the folder structure. In fact, the directories are created and any non audio files are copied across fine, but every mp3/audio file is flatly dropped into the Music directory.
I tried to copy some music onto it from my fiancee's windows xp laptop and it worked ok (though the album art didn't appear).
The move away from mass storage to MTP is a massive disappointment for me. Mass storage has always been a big selling point for me when purchasing a device and for Google to switch to using a Windows specific protocol and consider it cross platform is a big letdown. MTP on mac requires a special app and on linux, support is dire, certainly for anything more complex than simply pulling images from a camera.

I can just about get files onto the xoom, but I can't load music onto it; all of my mp3s just land up in the top level of the Music directory, regardless of how I attempt to transfer the files. I think transferring a zip file of the music and unzipping from within a file manager on the xoom might do the trick, but this isn't a good, workable solution. I understand the reasoning behind MTP, but it most certainly isn't cross platform and shouldn't be mentioned as a working solution by Google.
Hopefully people will soon realise not to keep insisting that the xoom has linux support when using MTP.
New update for drag racing is really choppy, lile playing angry birds on a g1.... but samauri II and the other thd games run smooth...dont kmow if its 3.1 kernel cuz it plays fine on my mytouch4g

Change all the extension names in the song file name to .mp and it will allow the transfer
Then use something of your liking, I use astro file manager, and just add the 3 on the a tail end of the extension.
Its a b, but you can at least get a couple good songs on there.

You're right, it's a cross-platform solution for transferring MEDIA, being the Media Transfer Protocol.
It's smart enough to detect the media files that it supports and put them in the right place. I prefer it over the old way, I hated having to unmount the sdcard every single time.
A poorly made Linux MTP library doesn't make it not cross-platform. It's an open standard for transferring media to USB devices.
It's not perfect, but it's great for a device like the Xoom where unmounting the internal memory is not desirable.
Honestly users get really confused by all of the extra directories when mounting an android sd-card anyways.

Actually, it has been a big debate on rather it is Google's or Moto's issue, but I am sure that we all can agree that it needs to be fixed no mater whos issue it is.
so i am getting this phone from my friend soon and i dont really want to use it as a phone just a mp3/ipod like device (i do the same with a android phone but kinda sucks) and i have a few questions. when i get it does it have to be activated as a phone to use it? or could i use it without data plan and all that just get to stuff over wifi. another question is is there emulators for windows phone 7? i would only like GBA/GBC NES/SNES emulators if there are any also are they free? and last question, how would i put music onto it? plug into computer and transfer music over? sorry im new to windows phone 7.

1. Activation occurs if you have a new SIM card. If you already have a SIM card, then no, you just put it in and use it.
2. I am guessing your friend will "reset" the phone before giving it to you. This way the first time you boot it up you have set it up with your own user information. This means a Microsoft account (e.g. Hotmail or Outlook), but maybe Gmail works (I use Hotmail so I don't know)
3. If the phone comes to you with your friend's info, I recommend resetting it yourself. Windows Phone is so personalized that I can't imagine using it without my own credentials.
4. No need for data. You can do most things over wifi. Specific apps like bing maps will complain that they cannot find your location with the data off, but every time I click OK and use the app anyway. It still works, just doesn't know where you are.
5. Have no idea about emulators
6. Anything you want to do with Windows Phone goes through Zune. So install that on your computer. Putting music is easy. Just drag it into your phone through Zune (Zune will tell you these tips by the way).
7. Remember that Focus only has 8GB, of which 6GB are available for you to play with. That seems like a very small amount of space for music. You might want to invest in a microSD card. I recommend a 32GB one. I have SanDisk Ultra Class 10 in my phone and it's perfect. There's a wiki on this kind of stuff. Just make sure it's a genuine microSD, because my first attempt at a 32GB card in my Focus was unpleasant. I got that one as a cheap brand new one from e-bay. It didn't even have any official SanDisk package material but it said SanDisk on it. I reckon it was a cheap knock-off. Next time I bought genuine microSD off Amazon and I couldn't be happier. E-bay has genuine stuff, just be wary that descriptions can be misleading.

you CAN use the device without activating it, just push the "later" button when asked for your microsoft account, however you won't be able to synchronize things to the cloud nor use the marketplace, not even for free stuff. that's exactly how android does things also, so no surprises here. talking about that, you need a hotmail/outlook account for activation, much like android forces you into a gmail account as your main. again, common sense.
you can use the phone without a data plan and just depend on wifi, i do that regularly

use zune to sync music, like how you'd use itunes to send things to a ipod. personally speaking, i think zune is light years above itunes -- at least on the pc side of things, so don't be too reluctant to install it. in the past i didn't want to use it being accustomed to just drag and drop files and then rebuilding the music database inside the device itself, that's it, until i used it. you'll quickly get used to it
Thanks both of you!

They mentioned on dev forums to off usbdrive offloading of apps to allow for more game installs. Since it's doing it to a non-stand usbdrive and not sdcard, itll take a bit more work and testing to ensure it works correctly. Considering it needs to be able to recongize the drive with the games, because what happens if you connected a different storage device(only supports one at a time currently with the kernel, possibly more in the future), the system might freak out trying to check for game files on the wrong drive.

Sadly no. This is, IMO, the biggest downfall of the console right now and needs to be fixed quickly, I know many people who have their OUYA filled already. The dev's have said they're working on it, but who knows how long or if it'll ever happen (though I'd bet on it happening, who knows).
yes you can
Yes it is possible! See my thread on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345680. It takes a bit of work, but no doubt some scripts will pop up in the near future to do it automagically.

I bought a thumb drive and side loaded stuck mount, I'm able to read and write, but how can I move let's say, MC5 and Nova 3 or whatever else to the USB drive and still the games? What am I missing? I've searched and scanned through these forums and haven't found my answer. Is this just not possible on this thing yet? If it isn't, than what's the point of this thing? What was google thinking putting 8GB on this? As if memory is so expensive nowadays.
