[Q] I dont understand how to install androide :/ - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have been reading this site everyday in about a month now - and probably every guide and How to:s.. But I still don`t get it..
I have a HTC HD2 (bought in Norway). I have ROM version 3.14 .. and Radio
ver. 2.15.50..
My question is: I cant find any guide that support this OS version and I have tried downgrade it, but I still cant get the same version on my HTC as in the guides.
I have also problem to find an android that suits my phone. I really want to try android, but I dont understand how to.. and what to choose.
I m sorry for my english skills and if I have missed a thread that is explaining my problem.
Can somebody explain how to do this in an easy way for me?
Best regards Lisa

Lisa
As you have the right radio version all you need to do is download any SD or RAM version of Android
See following post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
You need to continue from STEP B (Installing Android)

Thank you very much for answering me
I have downlaoded Android Loader v6.0 Final for HD2 and put it in the device memory. (like copy / past - the file is still unpacked)
Should I unpack this file before downloading a SD version of Android?
I have seen many screenshoots of different androids, is it possible to tell me what to choose? I just want one that works, and if possible norwegian language.
Best regards Lisa

If you want to run Windows Mobile and have Android load from within Windows Mobile (so you can reboot back into Window Mobile if needed) then first you want to download an Android Build and extract it to your storage card. *THIS* build is very stable and fast and its the one I used before switching to Android on NAND. Extract the contents of the download file to your pc and then copy the 'Android' folder to the ROOT of your storage card so you will have a folder in the top level of your storage card called 'Android'.
Then run the Android loader v6 app and follow the install instructions. When asked for the folder you want to select \Storage Card\Android (or whatever Storage Card is called in your Roms language.
After you have gone through that you will have a link in your start menu that you can click on to start Android running. It may take a few minutes longer the first time its run but after that its alot quicker. The first time you run Android though you want to shut it down, reboot into Windows Mobile and run the android link again. This is needed to make it work properly.
However if you want to install Android to NAND (internal memory) so that it boots straight into Android and gets rid of Windows Mobile altogether then just click on the guide in my sig and follow the instructions there.

[q] help me get android on my hd2!!!!

So I really want android on my HD2 and after sitting here at the computer for the past 4 hours and getting nothing accomplished i decided to seek help..... I tryed using the "simple" directions and ROM that was offered on stuffmiddleeast.com
For HD2 users, here’s the super-easy way of putting Android on your phone. Download this file and extract the file. Make sure you have at least 70 per cent battery. Remove the SIM card from the phone and you’re ready to go.
You might find that your phone will need to sync multiple times. What that means is you have to start up Windows Mobile Device Center (if you sync up your HD2 to your PC you should already have it, if not – you can download it from here and connect your phone through it.
Step 1
Sync your phone and browse to the HSPL folder and start up HSPL3_PKG.exe. Keep pressing next until the update starts. Do NOT touch the phone until update is over.
Step 2
Sync your phone and browse to the CUSTOM ROM folder and start up ruu.exe. Keep pressing next until the update starts. Do NOT touch the phone until update is over.
Step 3
Sync your phone and browse to the RADIO and start up CustomRUU.exe. Keep pressing next until the update starts. Do NOT touch the phone until update is over.
Step 4
Extract Android.zip and copy it’s content to the MicroSD card folder of your phone via cable or with a MicroSD adapter.
Step 5
Open File Explorer on your phone, browse to the Storage Card and open the Android folder. Select CLRCAD.EXE then run HaRet.exe. Remember to run CLRCAD.exe first as this gives Android Sound. Don’t worry if it does nothing – it’s not supposed to. The first time you load Android, it might take as long as 10 minutes to boot up – so don’t worry if the phone stops responding.
I got through step one i downloaded the rom from megaupload.com as they suggested i extracted the files..... then i followed step one and selected the HSPL folder and i worked fine.... the phone had a pop up that said "you have been hacked or something along those lines...... then i went to step 2 and tryed to open the CUSTOMROM as directed however it seems that the files that were downloaded to my computer read a little differently but i was able to see that it was the file that they were talking about.... so i did that then as step 2 says i tryed to run the ruu.exe..... the file that i downloaded to my computer said ruu not ruu.exe....... i still attempted to run it but it would always tell me that the file has stoped working....... so i am out of ideas.... i loaded and reloaded and still the same thing, i even tryed a different computer..... i am using a windows 7 computer fully updated.... if you could please help me figure out what i am doing wrong or at least give me dummy instructions on how to do this i would totally appreciate it...... im not totally illiterate when it comes to operating tis kinda stuff but if you could keep the verbage and terms somewhat "english" it would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks
Well this is definately not the correct place for this. This is why we have a Q&A section. You do not HAVE to flash a different ROM to run android. It is just preferred. So I guess start here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
and after that go read the tutorials in the android section. What did you do with the whole 4 hours at your computer. the step by step info is incredibly easy to find????
You don't need HSPL or a rom and all that crap to run android...What kind of tutorial is that!? Its as simple as...format the memory card on the hd2 to fat32, download the android rom and copy the android folder to the root of the memory card and go to file explorer and find the android folder and click on clrad.exe first then Haret.exe and wait 15 min.....walahh
Sometimes it easier to explain than to find the damm link to the tutorial

I did exactly! that with Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.3 rEVOlution on ORIGINAL STOCK USA TMOBILE htc hd2 . No Hard spl no custom "Compatible roms" and no BS. Simple . Fully working android and I am not going back . Only thing is don't hook it up to PC with usb . you'll mess it up . to transfer files to and from laptop go to android market and download freeware called websharing . With websharing you connect to your laptop through same wifi as your android . Like I said . Simple
yep...being a noob myself - I went and followed those instructions above and found out I ended up with ChuckyRom! Didn't expect that...now I know better.
Sometimes it's hard to find the right info on the threads...even when searching and trolling around for it...please be patient with the nOObs...we're all just trying to get un-nOObed!
Thanks for the great help and info - this is a most excellent forum!!! Woo and Hoo!
Truely, if you use HD 2 T-mobile with the radio 5.10.50.You NO NEED to do anything, just copy the android folder to your sd card.Go in winmo - exploder and click on 2 file CLRCAD and HARET and it will run.
If battery is always 60ma when screen off, try to reformat you sd card(FULL and 32kb locate) and use setcpu, this will help.
bro. this stupid easy to install android and you dont have to flash. Just look at any android rom you want and there are instructions on how to install and run them smoothly. read up and others have explained this easy. Its as simple as 123. I couldnt imagine what youve been looking at for 4 hours. Good luck man. and welcome to the world of HD2 Android.

That doesn't work though if you have a branded ROM and can't update to the lastest stock ROM though, am I right?
Thread moved to Q&A, cleaned, and closed.

[Q] Simple Instructions Please - Confused!

Hi,
After reading many many threads & watching dozens of videos, & downloading & trying loads of files I still can not get my HTC HD2 to multi-boot ,
The only result so far is to get it to reboot to a lot of minuscule text , way too small to read.
I would like to use the latest android gingerbread & linux ( & maybe xp ?) etc without screwing up / overwriting the windows 6.5 mobile. (it is my primary phone / pda but can not get software for some tasks these days )
Phone is the 512 flash version
Please can someone post simple precise step by step instructions to do the above, including the files needed & how to recover from snafu's.
Many thanks in advance.

Extremely simple. Make sure you have the latest stock ROM 3.14 or a custom ROM, but you must have a .50 Radio. Download Android SD Rom. Place the Android folder on the SD card. Run clrcad and haret. Success.
Thank You, please can someone post links to the exact files required ?
Thanks again
M
So you have still WinMo6.5 on NAND with default loader or you have changed loader already (MAGLDR, cLK)?
What radio do you have? It´s written on boot - those red signs on low left corner. You must have 2.*.50.* one.

No 'exact files required' exist, just find a ROM, download it, place the Android folder on the root of your SD card and enjoy.
Thanks for the replies,
ok, more info;

Thanks, sorry to point this out but "download a file & use it" is not too helpful ( WHICH files & FROM WHERE? & in What ORDER ?) - have downloaded lots of files & used them , only succeeded in B**ring the phone to the point of a factory reset & many many crashes.
Sorry about this but I am not an experienced phone hacker/ modifier , just need something that works & works well - any help is appreciated
Many Thanks in Advance

OK, you have bad radio version. You have to chnage it to 2.x.50.x (you have 51 actually). Follow this guide to change radio - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958 It´s step A. When you follow this guide step by step, you should make it work easily

Yes, do that, or, much less riskily (not involving HSPL or anything along those lines) download the Official Stock ROM 3.14 from the HTC website and flash this. There are full guides on the HTC website. This will give you the correct radio.
@ OP, Download the files and use it is as simple as it gets, all you need to do is download the ROM from the ROM thread (the files will have the same name as the ROM title, choose the one which DOES NOT say 'Magldr' as this is for a different bootloader), place the Android folder on SD card and then run Clrcad and Haret. If you cannot understand this, I am unable to help you.
Many thanks again for the replies,
Upgraded the htc ROM , now can boot both Ubuntu & Android from windows
But...
started installing apps to the android & soon ran out of space
One of the threads recommended re-sizing the data.img BUT when I did that & installed the bigger file, apps market crashes , (as sometimes does the loader)
So great to have android but not so good if it does not have the required space.
ALSO
can not see the phone from either my windows or Linux computer EXCEPT when running windows - neither the htc or windows sync programs see it nor does the file system on linux
Any thoughts on the above please?
Many thanks in advance

you should try looking in SD DEVELOPMENT lol,but to be honest, why would u want to install it on ur sd card when u can have nand lol,if u have it on your sd card, everytime you reboot your phone,it'll go back to windows mobile, stay well away from sd card, none of that **** copying intrid & zimage to the root of your sd card lol and haret to sort the sound out,go with nand, you won't regret it
I agree with Ty5982. Nand builds are much faster booting and reliable compare to SD. Any reason why you want SD build?

Agreed with other two posters, NAND is much better. As for your issue, I think it may be radio related, upgrade to HTCs latest official stock ROM 3.14
There's nothing wrong with SD builds. They're great for trying out Android without voiding your warranty, or to be able to dual boot Windows Mobile and Android, or to multi-boot NAND Android and different SD builds thru MAGLDR.
Just follow the instructions in the thread where you downloaded the build from, and all should be well.
Don't rename the folder that all the files such as HaRET and CLRCAD are in.
Go into that folder, open the startup.txt file in a text editing program, and check to see if it has a line that says Rel_path=
After Rel_path= it should say the name of the folder all your Android files reside in. If it's a different name than the folder name, re-name the folder to match the rel_path line, so if it says Rel_path=Droid69, then rename the folder to Droid69, and not droid69 as it is upper/lower case sensitive.
If you still can't get that build to run, try another I guess.

Dude, if you're worried about warranty you are on the wrong site
Also, even if it does void your warranty, Its easy to get your device back to stock. Its not as if you need to open your device and rip the warranty stickers to get Android on nand lol.
No, I'm clearly not worried about my warranty, I was simply pointing out that that is one of the advantages of SD builds. Some people are worried about their warranties, or afraid they might brick their phone flashing a nand rom, and the sd builds are a safe alternative for risk averse or less experienced members.
I didn't say sd builds are the only or best way to go, I just said theres nothing wrong with them. Additionally, I don't think this is the wrong site for those who are worried about their warranties, there's still a wealth of information on this site for those who don't want to void their warranties.

Which Radio do you have? I had similiar problems to you but changing radio resolved them all, the first boot of any SD build should not take more than 20min, more means you're stuck. But again, NAND Roms are totally better then SD - faster, more stable, better battery usage etc. And Android wins with WinMo 6.5 in every challange so I would consider flashing a NAND ROM if I were you. Hyperdroid for the very beginning - definitely the best ROM available.

HELP ME!
Okay I don't know if I'm posting on the right thread or not but I need help. I want to install the IceCreamSandwich/jellyBean rom on my HD2 SD card as well, its my only option since my usb port is broken. I already had gingerbread installed but I want to upgrade. I formatted my SD card (don't ask me why) by mistake. So whenever I cut my phone on it goes to the bootloader menu and somehow I navigate myself back to gingerbread. I'm a "noob" so I have little to no idea what I'm doing. Is installing this after all I've done even still possible? I need help please and thank you!

Operating Systems

Is there any chance to have in the hd2 multi-os?
What i mean is simple. Thre are some times when i want to operate the android and other times that i eant to operate the windows. In the booting screen a question of which os i desire each time.
Is this posible to be done? I don't know a lot about developing that's why i am proposing this idea
check the link below it might give you an idea.
Yes, it's possible.
Simply, upgrade your radio to 2.15 (from the sig of this guy^). To be able to boot into android, afterwards, go to the SD Android section and download any rom you want, extract the files of the .zip and put the extracted folder AS IS on the ROOT of your sd card.
Finally, you can manually boot into Android by running clrcad.exe (FIRST) and then (haret.exe) . Or you can use any of the bootloaders available for dualbooting with WinMo.

[Q] Easy one stop Android?

Ive for an HD2 im going to give to my friends girlfriend to replace her current T-Mobile phone thats junk and has a cracked screen.
I have installed HSPL 2.08 to match the stock SPL, but now ive come to a stand still.
I only have a 4GB card right now (unless someone can tell me how to format one from a WP7 device, Windows wont recognize it).
Im getting confusing info about the US devices and radio's as well.
Isnt there a one step install for Android to SD card? Even the 'easy for noobs' directions has many confusing steps.
Unfortunately, no. The easiest way would be sd android run with haret from within windows mobile, but even that requires an updated radio.
Just put windows mobile back, update the radio (which is relatively easy if you read enough) and drop any sd build on your sd card and then click on "clrcad.exe." then "haret" from File Explorer on your phone.
That's the easiest.
Never took WinMo off but i did manage to get a 16 gig card to use. How do i tell what radio it has?
Go into settings > software information > radio.
That's it.
I recommend flashing 2.15.50 (if you don't already have one that is 2.08 or above)
2.15.50.14? Cause thats the one i've seen said 'use' and 'dont use'.
Ok, its got that radio on it. So i guess im good and can just find an image to put on the SD.
Just go into the SD android development, pick a ROM, download it and extract it into /Android/ on your sdcard.. then follow my first post.
Which Android version it is more suitable for the HTC HD2
I have an HTC HD2 running the original windows professional 6.5. and I m interested to install the Android OS in order to get
a faster an easy OS.
But after reading several posts and watching a lot of vieos on Youtube I feel lost which Android version it is more suitable to my smartphone
and if it is possible to get a little bit of more speed I woul be very happy.
As far as I understand i will require to burn or change my ROM first and then install the Android. But there are the Rafdroid version, the Ice Cream the Jelly Bean and so. Today I read a notice somewhere that a a guy have obtained 1.66 Ghz of speed at the HTC HD2 that it is amazing.
A little of speed would be great but the most important it is to have the Android because it is easy and may allow me to view videos ouside
youtube.
I will appreciate you advice and comments how to decide about the Android version.

Well, i did, i found AmeriCanAndroid. But when i launch Haret it says it cant find the zImage which is not in the NativeSD folder, but in the kernal/boot folder. Also in following the guide for this on YT, when i copy it to the SD its only 123 megs, not 232 like in the video. So im lost as to whats going on.
Also, my ex-wife had an HD2 briefly that had Android on it that you could launch from a shortcut on the home screen. Any idea how to do that?
Ok, i got this resolved. Once i realized MAGLDR wipes WinMo off i found an EXCELLENT video on YT for dual booting WP7 and Android. Thanks to the guy who made it, very thorough and had the links to the required software in the comments.
