I just updated my wife's phone to DL09 by pushing it via Odin. I then successfully completed the one click root, and was in the process of pushing clockwork mod to the phone via Odin when the screen on the phone went blank. Now the only thing I get i a black screen with a phone, a computer, and an orange triangle with an exclamation point and dotted lines between them. Any ideas?
Can you still get into download mode

This is all I get...
Have you tried the manual method to get to download mode?
Pull the battery, connect usb while pushing the volume down button.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
That seemed to work. Pushing the DL09 again via Odin now. Thanks for the tip, Steeler!
That is the Odin Failed screen. The only remedy is to flash over whatever you messed up in Odin.
There are a few ways to get into download mode. First, you will want to try removing the battery, and holding down the volume down button while plugging the USB into a computer.
If you can't get that to happen, look into wiring up the usb cable with a resistor to make a little rig to force download mode.
If you cannot manage download mode (or potentially recovery mode), you are out of options.
EDIT: looks like steeper beat me to it.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
Up and running! Again, thanks for the timely responses and handy tip!
I have soft bricked my fascinate. I can get into clock recovery red. I use a mac, my USB is not in debug mode, I tried using Odin on a PC but could not find phone. Cant ADB into phone on mac receive "Error:device not found" I have looked everywhere all day and yesterday but looks like im screwed. Can i not just get a update.zip Voodoo kernel? I did a wipe before I hit restore. I do see the restore files but on Clockwork but get error also. Any help please?
Maybe someone can confirm whether it is possible to adb from download or recovery mode.
However, you are not hosed so long as you can get into recovery mode. You can likely copy what you need into your sd card. Fortunately, I have never had to do that because I can always find the files I need to restore in the clockworkmod/ folder of my sdcard. I suggest looking around in there for the kernel patch you need - just be mindful of your lag fix

Thanks, I do see kernel patches but they are not zip files. On the MAC I compress to a .zip file but with no luck. I dont think the MACS sign them correctly.

I flashed the DI18 update back in November to get one the early Froyo builds. It's worked great for a while, but so many better roms and been released since. So I tried to reboot into bootloader mode tonight to use heimdall to flash the DK28 modem to get some newer roms. No dice. Using the keyboard 1 + power button just results in a normal boot. If I connect via adb and run "adb reboot-bootloader" or "adb reboot bootloader" the same thing happens, just a normal reboot, end up back at the normal home screen.
Anyone have any other ideas or is my phone borked now?
1 and power boots you into Download mode. To get to recovery you need to power up by holding 'down volume', 'camera', and 'power'. If that doesn't boot you into Clockwork, then you need to consider flashing with Odin, which you should probably do anyway since you need to flash to the DK28 modem as well

P.s. DI18 isn't froyo, that's still eclair

1 + power doesn't boot me into download mode unfortunately. I can boot into Clockwork just fine. Unfortunately, I'm running Linux so I can't use Odin easily. Either way I don't think it will be able to flash it from device/recovery mode.

When you did DI18 did you use Odin and one of the "Return to Stock" set of files? I think you are fine. Those return to stock files wipe out the clockwork recovery. Just try the "One Click" thread which is a sticky at the top of this forum. That should get you clockwork back. As said above, though, you'll probably want to Odin to DK28. You will need to be able to hold 1 and power up, but mine often fails on the first try or too. Good luck, and I think you're in fine shape, so don't worry. I haven't had a problem yet that Odin couldn't fix, and I've caused a lot of problems on my phone.
EDIT: Just saw your post that came in the same time as mine. I think your best bet is to borrow a friend's PC and Odin back to stock, then go from there.

Dude, the issue is not clockwork. It's his inability to get into download mode. So he cannot use heimdall or odin without getting into download mode.
To the OP why not try noobnl's zip to flash dk28 modem and stock dk28 rom with a couple extras. Maybe that will provide download mode for you.

Does someone have a link that item? I've seen lots of people reference this, but have yet to actually find a working link. The wiki doesn't seem to have anything about it, but I assume I've just missed it somewhere.
Nevermind, found the link, I think this is it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861341

Yes, that is the one. I would flash the modem first if I was you, it may not make a difference but it seems prudent to do so.
Please post questions in General Section.
Thanks everyone, I ended up rebooting to recovery mode and resetting everything. Re-installed clockwork rom manager and flashing this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861341 but it couldn't connect to the Sprint network afterwards. I flashed the modem update and it seems to be working.
For whatever reason, I still can't get into bootloader mode at all. 1 + power goes to normal boot up. adb reboot does the same thing.
Ok here's what happened. When I flashed Nero v4, I rebooted into recovery and flAshed 2.2 stock kernel and jk6 modem without knowing that voodoo has been enabled. So I can get into recovery, but only the stock recovery not clock work. Also I'm using Odin v1.7 and Odin v1.00. Also when I put my phone in download mode Odin does not recognize it. By the way it sometimes recognizes it on the samsung boot screen. So what's the problem with this thing? I am SCARED!!!!!!
make sure ur fone is in download mode then unplug it from the usb and restart odin, then plug it back in.. if you can get to stock recovery then try using adb or something to install the clockwork recovery update.zip to your phone
This may be something you have done, but just in case. Do you have kies installed? Or at the very least the drivers?
I have also had times (today as a matter of fact) where I put it in download mode but the PC didnt make the eject/connect noise. I had to restart the phone again and put it in download mode again. (if you only unplug-plug in it may work, but its 50/50 chance itl just freak out)
I keep a copy of kies on my SDcard just for situations like today.
Ok seeing as I had this problem a few weeks ago ill just share my solution, in the case of windows 7. If you have windows 7 right click on odin and click compatability, then roll it back to windows xp sp 3. Next run odin in administrator mode. Next, when you power down your phone, connect the usb cable first, then quickly hold volume up and down, and don't release them. don't worry if it doesn't connect, because I usually have to do this 4or 5 times. Run your pit and ROM and click start, and its my experience that letting go of volume up and down will disconnect odin. I hope this was helpful just trying to be a productive member of the community.
Odin was able to find my vibrant, but when i press "start" the process gets stuck on "analyzing files..." and nothing happens. By the way, I'm trying to go back to stock ji6 from Axura. I'm new at this. I was able to root my vibrant and get Axura on it, but i need to do a warranty exchange on my phone, so have to go back to stock because I don't think they will cover it otherwise. If there is an easier way to go back to Android 2.1 ji6, please let me know. So far Odin is not processing it...please help
I was had similar problems as well and it turned out fine. See this link at reply #3 (mine). The final issue for me to overcome was to make sure I had the proper .tar and .pit files as well as the updated samsung drivers. I include a link to a file called all_in_one that should be helpful.

because everytime i select that it reboots and doesn't take me to clockwork.
So I got this email from my friend and am not sure what to tell them. I have not run into the screen she describes.
Here's what was told to me.
"He put a rom on it and it forced closed when you tried to open the contacts or do most anything with the phone. He booted in recovery and tried to update zip and it kept saying file not found. So he deleted update zip and kept CWMfroyo zip. But the phone kept saying the same thing then when trying to turn on phone the samsung would loop. Used odin to try and put update zip back on and then the ebo1 modem. Nothing changed. So we tried to factory restore phone by using odin and none of the downloads would complete. Now my facinate only comes on to a screen with a little phone and a computer with a yellow triangle in the middle of the two. It also will not go into download mode anymore."
I replied back asking if they could still enter stock recovery. But haven't heard back yet.
If I can get them into download mode I can help them Odin correctly to get them back good. But, again, I have not seem the screen described so I don't know what it means.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Precisely. Symbol means the whole os (operating system) needs to b redone.
Since she says they can't get into download mode. Is there something else I should check?
Or are they just doing it wrong?

Confirm they are properly trying to get into download mode.
1. Open Odin (might as well)
2. Remove battery.
3. Hold Volume down key.
4. Plug in USB cable.
In your first post, you said that they tried to odin back to factory setting, but the download would not complete. What do they mean by the download wont complete? (Odin wont complete? Cant download full package?)

I'm attempting to un-root my device as there is dust under my screen so I can do a warranty exchange but can't. I have read every applicable thread and tried everything I can find/think of without success.
My setup:
Recovery: Clockwork 3.0.6
S=off
ROM: CM7
It seems everyone else can just flash the .zip and boom it works but not me.
I have attempted multiple .zip files in case they were corrupt but always have the same result.
I have attempted the stock Nandroid image available as well but it sticks at the splash screen.
Any ideas that might help?
Thanks in advance!

Im not sure, but maybe its the clockwork version. Sorry Im not much help, but this is my guess since I went through the process without a singe and wondering why you are having this problem.
The PD15IMG.zip file doesn't use clockwork. put it in the root of your sdcard, volume down power, the bootloader finds the file and you go from there...

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I have tried exactly that many times with multiple different files (in case the files were corrupt) without success. That's where I'm stuck. I can't seem to figure out why everyone else can do it without any issues yet I can't.

If you are using the stock ROM, it doesn't power off unless what it calls "fastboot" is disabled. Instead, it just drops into a standby mode. So to power cycle it so that the bootloader runs .... reboot, and hold the volume down button.
Hello! My Vibrant is stuck at a screen with the impression of a clamshell connected via dots to a computer's outline with an exclamation sign in between the two.
I cannot get the phone into download mode with the pull battery, plugin in usb, have odin running, insert battery method.
Is there anything I can do for my device?
Thanks!
Ok, I will tell you the steps you need to do.
1. Take out battery
2. Click both volume buttons and put in cable connected to cpu.
3. Keeping everything intact and held, put battery back in.
4. Enjoy download mode
I was able to get it to download mode from odin, but from here I am unsure as to what I need to do to restore my phone to a functioning state. Is this still a valid guide? I realize the guide is returning me to a stock image, but I was thinking that from there I could re-root and reflash from there. Thanks!
