So my phone is now unlocked and i followed everything in the activation guide except calling Microsoft for the activation code yet.
and I managed to download some apps through my laptop and installed to my phone and worked
but i tried 2 games which were "the Harvest" and "Twin Blades" and they don't work
but also i installed a LG game which worked fine
so i was wondering if this is because i still didn't activate live services or the HD2 isn't capable of playing WP7 games after all ??
Thanx in advance

Hi
I installed "Twin Blades" trial from the market (activated) and it worked fine.
I tried installing "Harvest" through my computer, like how you did it (I think)it installed, but didn't open/run.
I then tried installing Harvest trial again, but this time using the market, and it worked fine.
There might be a difference between the trial versions and full versions (in terms of installing / running), but I haven't tried purchasing any games yet.
Some xbox live titles work when you install it through desktop. So it's just a hit or miss when trying out apps that way. Either way, it is recommended to get an activation code to get the full WP7 experience.
I believe you used WP7 3MktPlace to download the games. Am I right? In this case you just have to wait for the vbguy (the creator of 3MktPlace) to update the software. He already found a way to make an automated patch for XBL games. (games other than Xbox LIVE games should work fine with current software)

yes exactly i downloaded using 3mktplace then installed using tom xap installer
so the only limitation from not activating the code will be using xbox live accounts or signing in to windows live accounts only?
and could u plz tell me more about this update??
also, is 3mktplace the only way yet to get apps and games other than the built in market place?
Thanx in advance
yes the only limitations are not being able to access windows live (includes x box live, live accounts) and marketplace.
3mrktplace isn't the only other way, there is another one, can't remember it but i think it's on xda.
Im sorry, Im afraid that I cant be more helpful in this matter. I don't know much about the updates except what I read in his blog. All I know is, in his latest blog entry he wrote that he already found a way to fix all those XBL games and he will integrate this new patch in new version of 3MrktPlace (v0.5). I think we should sit tight and wait for the updates, it wont take long
I only use 3MrktPlace btw, so I dont know about the other stuff. I browse the marketplace apps through zune, and I'll download apps through 3MrktPlace.
oh btw ahmedsalem89 : Get the activation code. Just call them. It's worth the try.
Thanx
I will Call them as soon as I'm sure that I'll be sticking with WinPhone 7 and not returning to android at least for a while

I'm having a problem with psx4droid.
I'm unsure if this is the improper place for this thread, so please inform me if it is so and I will take necessary actions (if any are necessary).
What i'm using:
Model: Android Transform (SPH-M920)
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
If there are any other specs that are required for diagnosis and the solution to my problem, then please inquire!*
My problem:
I have downloaded and installed psx4droid v1.1 and BIOS file schp1001.bin, uploaded Final Fantasy VII .bin ROM and am having an issue loading the game.
As soon as I tap on the Final Fantasy VII Disc 1.bin, I am brought to a black screen where it then takes me back to the "select ROM" screen and doesn't load the game.
What i've tried:
I've tried re-installing psx4droid using online tutorials, downloading and installing new bios files, re-uploading newly created FFVII .bin files, uploading and trying FFVII.pbp (eBOOT) and .img files, changing and messing around with the psx4droid settings, changing and messing around with my phones settings, closing out applications that may be interfering with psx4droid/FFVII, and everything else that I can think of.
Now I am at a loss, I don't know what to do. This should be working, according to the description of psx4droid in the market place.
I hope someone can help me find a solution to this problem soon.
Thanks all!
Well this really isn't a answer to your problem persay. But I too am having the same issue. My FFVII worked fine with the earlier psx4droid releases. However, when the latest release of 1.1 came out a day or so ago my FFVII quit working the same as yours. I would say it might be the release over anything else you tried. I went back to the last release that worked fine of psx4droid 1.0.9, which everything now runs fine on. I also noticed the latest release of psx4droid drops ALOT of framerates from the games I did get to work with it. In my opinion 1.1 is a bad release and creates more problems then I believe it fixed. I'd google 1.0.9 and upload the .apk onto your system and hopefully that version will work just fine for you.
Can't find a version of 1.0.9 anywhere. Think I could help finding this?
Hope the admins/mods won't mind us posting a link to help more people in the future
Ok, I found a download link for this version at a place called mediafire.
This will be your code at the end of the link placed in your browser: ?sh9f0ww7dzbuzgo
Alright, I've "updated" to v1.0.9 and it appears that things are doing better; but my only problem now is that when I launch the game (FFVII.bin) it just goes to a blank, black screen. I'm almost there, I can feel it!
Any ideas on what to do with the black screen?
I usually d/l my psx roms from doperoms.com. they always seem to be of good quality. Maybe try that next. Also, what device are you running psx on?
These version numbers seem to suggest you're pirating old versions and not obtaining the latest from the market....

Hardly, I paid for my copy. However the latest release of psx4droid in my opinion is garbage so thanks to titanium backup I restored my previous version.

The way I see it is he's basically downloading a backup .exe file to an earlier version, because the dev guys didn't care enough to leave any download links to those. Which, is legal, might I add
I paid for a program that doesn't work with the newest version, so i'm going to downgrade to the version that works!
Have you tried compressing your games w/ IceTea v1.3?
This has helped me run games that wouldn't run in a .bin format.
It's annoying that extra steps are needed but it also reduces the file size by a lot!!
This 'cyanogenmod 7 RC' ROM is Great! all things Considering.(don't really care bout 4G, and full HDMI Support coming soon) i haven't ran into any major mechanical issue/s (Thus-far) but i did ran into some minor Malfunctions but were easily corrected i.e. voice recognition, WiFi connections, inaccurate GPS location,etc..
But there is one issue that I've notice that i find kinda strange...
after i have updated from 'CM6.1.2-STABLE' ROM to 'CM7-RC' ROM, thanks to ROM Manager's 'OTA' Update
it have seem to have lost the ability to play Emulators of ALL kinds(gba-Snes-psx4droid,etc)
My known problem i am experiencing is "As soon as I tap on the Game, with a .bin ext(or of any ext), I am brought to a black screen-- then takes me back to the "select ROM" screen again and doesn't load the game.
i have done many things to had try repair this issue, like:
-Re-installing ROM w/ wipe cache,
-Installed other versions of the Emu's.
i have searched (google'd) for others like me that are experiencing this on 'cyanogenmod 7 RC' ROM. but sadly, non where found...
Problem with PSX4DROID?
Solution: Get Fpse for Android and forget about that P.O.S.
I can say Fpse works amazingly well, it's a emulator that's actually worth the money
I started playing GT2 and FFVIII again when I'm on the go and both work just like on the PS1, loading times are faster then on the actual PS1
I was wondering, before I buy this great app, will it work for the new phones running gingerbread?
Reason I ask is because I just updated my phone to android 2.3.2(Gingerbread) and now ALL my emulators (including PSX4DROID) are non-fuctional. And also, those it support wii controllers or any other type input controllers?

Here's Android Market link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.emulator.fpse
It shows that it supports 2.2 and up so it could work, that's interesting how all your emulators stopped working.
I finally got this HD2 Activated. So I enable to my gamertag yadadadada. It won't let me download/install app or games on to the phone. Yes my wifi/data connection work fine. Though I had to reformat my phone after a few things and I lost my regedit. Would the marketplace not be working because I don't have it registered as an HD7 anymore? I have my activation code though enabled
Short answer yes. I found it wouldn't let me until the device name was changed to HD7. Windows market place must see what the device is then decide if it should be allowed download apps or not.
lol yes, after the tedious process of getting it to work, I downloaded my first app, and installing it now
Hello everyone,
this morning Monster Madness appeared in the market (requirements have been lowered to 2.2) and I bought it asap.
It installed fine, but I'm having activation problem since then. I've never been able to run the game. All I got is the following error message:
"Cannot confirm license. Unable to confirm that you have a valid license to this application. Please contact support for more info. Application will now exit.".
I'm running FolioMod 1.4 with its default build.prop (but I also tried, with no luck, 2.3, 1.3d and Toshiba's ones as I suspected build.prop might be involved). Official Support suggested it might be connected to the use of a custom rom (well, not that we have any other chance than being "custom", do we???).
Have you been able to play this game???
Your experience/suggestions will be welcome.
** SOLVED **
It seems I've managed to solve the problem. Looking at logcat ouptut I noticed that system TIME WAS OFF by an hour or so (I didn't noticed it before because my clock widget updates itself via web, thus showing the right time, but doesn't sync system time...).
Then, remembering that some license checking systems look at system time as a part of the process, I synced it with an NTP client and... bingo!
Now the app seems to succesfully authenticate and asks me to download the additional files it needs (I will complete the download this evening under wi-fi coverage).
Hooray!
I also noticed that Monster Madness appeared on Android Market and purchased it.
But I did not have any problem with activtion or playing the game, I'm running FolioMod v1.4.

LOL, I was editing as you answered. I managed to identify the problem.
Thanks!
While I saw nothing like this posted here in the Transformer threads yet, I figured I'd make a thread to atleast start discussion as well as provide help with others that might be interested in this.
[aDosBox]
Currently I have managed to get aDosBox installed and working fairly well, to the point where Fallout (a game I personally wanted to play) is working decently well enough that I am happy.
A few things that I had to search around for to find answer to.
Mounting:
In aDosBox, in order to have a large enough space to full install Fallout, you need to use the following line:
mount d /Removable/SD -freesize 1024
This will provide you with 1 gb of free space (assuming you have 1 gb free) on the drive. I found I had to do this in order for the Fallout installer to allow me to do the full install.
Another thing to note is the number of cycles/second setting in aDosBox. I changed mine to roughly 16,000 and that seemed to give me good performance. Much higher than that (I think 21,000 is where I really noticed it) and aDosBox is trying to do too many cycles/sec and it actually slows things down.
Another problem I have had, is getting the mouse to actually properly follow my hardware mouse (I have the dock) as well as the touchscreen when using aDosBox. Calibrating the mouse doesn't really seem to have much of a good effect for getting this working properly yet either.
[Windows]
So far my attempts at installing Windows 98 (so I can then use Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics) have been pretty bad. I have not been able to get Windows 98 to install, I get stuck where it starts checking hardware. I let it sit for about half an hour, but that pretty much killed it.
I'll be trying out Windows 95C here in a bit.
After searching a bit, I found this little bit of information...
the /NA# switch, when used at the setup command line (ie setup /NA#) will skip the searching/checking hardware portion according to the number.
This switch bypasses the program check and can use the following values:
#=0 Default.
#=1 No Windows-based program check, but MS-DOS-based program are blocked.
#=2 No MS-DOS-based program check, Windows-based programs are blocked.
#=3 No Windows-based or MS-DOS-based program check.
After installing Windows 95, I got an error asking for MSDOS 7.0. Haven't figured out that problem yet.
Anyone else have any other experiences?
Download GemRB to play Infinity Engine games. Download ScummV to play... a bunch of other games. I wouldn't put much hope in it otherwise.

Well, Fallout isn't an IE game, so GemRB won't play it.
As for Scumm, I don't really care to play those games right now.

Full Throttle on my SGS was pretty awesome using ScummVM, I'm probably going to try it later on TF as well. Other classic games like Kyrandia etc do look funny in 2011 though (nostalgie eh...)
It is very simple question and will be valid for many apps that are not available in certain regions.
I know I can still use netflix vis web browser but it would be cool to use their app as well.
Problem is, it will not be available in my region for a long, long time - can anything be done?
What region is that? If Netflix is available in your region and you can use their website it should be available in the Windows Store for you as well.
If you would look on the left, under my nick you would know that the region in question is Poland.
And if Netflix would be available in Poland I would not ask how can I get the Moder UI app + I would not say that it is not (service itself) available here

Right, didn't think to look at the left for region...
Since you said you could still use Netflix in the browser I assumed it was available in your region. The only way I can see to get the app if Netflix isnt available in your region would be to get a copy of the app from someone who has it installed and somehow make it work on your computer (I haven't tested but I doubt transferring even a free app in to the right folder would be enough for it to work) and that's not something I think anyone here will help you with due to illicit redistribution of their app and breaking of their license agreement and so on.
Tried the Netflix app with the ELO touch screen we have and must say the kids love it.

I dont think it is that easy. Apps for Modern UI can be downloaded only from Windows Stoder - unless you guys plan to jailbrake the system.
And I am not sure if argument you use "not something I think anyone here will help you with due to illicit redistribution of their app and breaking of their license agreement and so on." considering everything that is done here for Android devices.
I am more interested if there will be a way to unlock Windows Store like now we can unlock Google Play via Market Enabler. I understand that with GSM modem it is much easier... but...
So far I can only use Hulu and Netflix (on Windows) via web browser. I got to say that getting stuff like Netflix app is much easier on iOS...

Windows 8 store regionalisation is based on the honour system. All you have to do is change your location to the USA and Bob's your uncle.
In the start screen, search for 'Change Location'
change the windows region to USA,
install netflix, and any other apps you want
change back to your local region
You will probably need to change your region to the USA again if you need to update the apps.
I have tried this with Netflix and it worked for me in NZ. I still needed a vpn to run netflix though.
The web browser works better though

Really?? That simple???
I know I will (still) have to use VPN as app and service are two different thing but still - AWESOME NEWS.
This means that will be able to get other apps (if already available) like BBC iPlayer, 4oD, Hulu, etc....
BTW: Do you know if they did it the same thing with Windows Phone 8? And if WP8 has (finally) VPN support?
Thanks for the info anyway!

Do you know about Windows RT? Perhaps instead of tablet/hybrid with Windows 8 Pro I could get a cheaper device with Windows RT on it...
If there is VPN support (as far as I know there is) and change os store location is as easy as in full Windows it would do me just fine.
I could do all the things I do toady on my iPad (netflix, hulu, web, email, etc...) + some more - at last comfortable typing.... I do write a lot and iPad is terrible if you work with Windows and text...
