Stream TV has posted a new firmware.
http://elocitynow.com/support_downloads.shtml
Thanks for info...
Downloaded and loading now. I will report my experience with the new firmware in a while.
For anyone who has not upgraded, please let me know what the build number was on the old firmware. Nothing cosmetic, seems a little slower than the Dexter mod I was running, may have to revert back to that until something substantial occurs with the firmware. There is a new kernel if the previous one in Dexter's mod was based on the December 24th release.
I'm curious about the date of the release not changing although the description of what has changed is at the top of the page.
I just checked, it still says Dec. 24, 2010. I'm not seeing the 1/15/2011 update listed on their firmware page.
The same here ...is the file the new one or the one from December?...what is suppose to be a new build number?
It hard to say because the filename is update.zip. It would be useful if they changed the naming convention to something friendlier. Let us rename the file to update.zip. Anyway that would be a recommendation. Name the file by the release date.
It is the new firmware on the website.
Date is incorrect.
I installed but ido not see any difference...
The update is a new update. Below is the build number of the December update and the current one.
December - PBJ8000.2.0121
January 14/15 I guess depending on where you are - PBJ8000.2.0124
No visual changes, all under the hood. Ad-hoc works without modification I did notice that. I'll keep it installed since I have added the marked to it.
Still does not report external storage correctly.
Still looking for Cifs and some 3g usb dongle support. That would round it out for me.

And you expected something different?
Unfortunately they can't include the Market or the google app as Google won't allow them. There is nothing they can do until Google changes the rules or releases a version of Android approved for tablets. This is the case with just about all the Android tablets currently on the Market.
I'm waiting for a ROM that includes the Market and Google Apps to be cooked up by the Devs here before I to the update.

Yeah if you don't understand that stream tv won't be releasing a firmware with market at least on froyo, I don't think you get it. Wait for Dexter of another dev to cook up a rom or learn how to get market on there yourself. before you start calling the updates a POS.
That said has anyone noticed any real changes? So far the only difference for me is that swype FCs on me now.

Maybe because of the WIFI fixes...but I am seeing much improved battery life... Before I would get about 4-5 hours... now last two days..about 6-7 hours..maybe a fluke.. but I will see over the next few days..

I will just understand...
Is Google deny Market at any tablets with OS Android 2.2 only?
I heard Viewsonic Viewpad 7 has Google Market
Why eLocity has not?

Froyo was not designed for tablets. The only tablet, 7 inches or bigger, that comes with official market support is the galaxy tab. Well that I'm aware of being available anyway. Google is currently only approving market for phones on 2.2 and the only reason the galaxy tab got approval is a convoluted definition as a phone. or more likely in my mind some backroom dealings between samsung and google. Either way Stream TV has never promised market on the A7 and most of us jumped in knowing that. If you lost market el al by upgrading to the latest firmware that means you were previously running a mod... my guess being one of dexters since I'm not aware of any others.
It seems you were not aware that the mod you were running was not an official firmware from Stream TV and is not supported by them.

That's to be expected. You should be able to add them back pretty easy. How did you put them on there in the first place - via ElocityMod or Manually?

Can you tell me how to put the Market on my A7? I just got one and installed teh updated firmware. Looks like if I install Dexter's mod it will be going backwards on my firmware.

No, Dexter's V1.1 is based on the latest (1/15/11) firmware. If you install that you get the latest firmware plus the Market and Gapps.

The app titled: "Scriptures (beta)" shows up in my G1's market, but does not in my Nexus' market.
Any ideas what's going on?
Did you do any of the following to your Nexus One:
1. Unlocked bootloader?
2. Enable root?
If so, "Scriptures (Beta)" is a *protected* Android application and will not show up.
If not, then it's a OS "support" version issue.
Cheers,
Kermee

My new N1 is not unlocked/rooted, but my old G1 *is*. But it's the G1 that sees the app fine, and the new N1 does not.
Must be an OS support issue.
I downloaded the app directly from the author's website and it works fine.

Yup. If that's the case, the author needs to fix it and update it on Android Market.
It's annoying for us developers and the damn manifest and API target/limits when "new" stuff comes out... *Sigh*
Anyrate, good deal you got around it!

application compatibility
Your phone is listed as a 2.1 device in the market, and if the apps don't specify compatibility (they introduced a compatibility layer in 2.0.1) then they won't show up since they won't work anyway (well, they might, but the general assumption is that they won't)
I guess that explains why AppManager Pro isn't showing up for me on my N1. Annoying. I love that app.
This explains why, when people were talking about Nexus One Torch and I decided to see what it was, my G1 couldn't see it. Now I have a Nexus I can (and it's good )
There are some errors I think, because I want Bonsai Blast which I think I remember was demo'd by the Bonsai Blast google developer for either droid or 2.1. I think it was a demo for the new resolution, so I know it can't be that, and I don't think a google Dev would forget to update his extremely popular app.
Let the application owners know!
When the moto droid came out, I emailed a few developers and some even came out with an update the very next day!

If we take the conservative assumption that it must be listed on the Google's own market place before it would work on Nexus, how many applications are available at the moment? Is there good statistics on that yet?
Perhaps most of them would work on Nexus one anyway? Love to hear from people who have tried using the applications written for the older OS version and see if they are generally still compatible. It's hard to imagine how a version upgrade would upset the older applications too much.

Really the only set-back is the resolution. All of the hardware has exponentially increased. All of Androids apps are written in java, which is pretty standard and should have no problem running on all android platforms.
The only time it should be disallowed would be if a game were to be written for the N1 specs (which cannot run on the G1), and therefore not shown in the market for the G1.
I suppose developers don't want their games to look too pixelated on the N1 until they update the resolutions. It's a waiting game now, since there are absolutely NO games available unless you want to play solitaire.
Or you could email the devs to death requesting an update...
in google i/o. they demonstrated that can be installed on pc through a webpage. i just got my nexus one upgraded to 2.2, and wondering if the website is somewhere out there? If it exist, can someone give me a link?
thanks
what was demonstrated was not from FroYo, but from Gingerbread which will be out on Q4 2010.
Not sure it was demonstrated on either really, given the cloud to device messaging capabilities of Froyo, I can see it working.

Might be wrong, but I think they never say that in the keynote. They show it right after bug reporting, which supposedly is already a feature of Froyo. Maybe they just need to update the webpage?
He was correct. It's a feature for Gingerbread (2.3) update which will have to wait for. Same for the new music player that was shown as well, seems like he was running a 2.3 build but just showing the 2.2 features.

Its not a feature for Gingerbread, no further changes would be needed to implement it now. In the keynote it was "beyond Froyo", they might well wait until Gingerbread to release the website, but there is not requirement to
This is a function of the marketplace application. It'll go through the cloud server that will be in place in 2.2.
It's not a gingerbread feature.
He says beyond froyo, it sounds to me like he is saying " lets see what else we have got for you"
NEVER ONCE does he mention gingerbread, and thats the kinda stuff that starts rumors

Let's cross our fingers so that the new music player comes with the final Froyo build.
The player from the IO keynote part 4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8unC9bA4O8&feature=related#t=4m18s
1) OTA push intents are part of Froyo so all the features demoed are already possible [thanks for the links ScaredyCat]
2) The new Market website was presented as "beyond Froyo" [but not explicitly Gingerbread]
3) Simplify Media, the company that Google bought to make the music streaming software said in their blog on March 12 that they would support existing customers for 3 months. I'm guessing they are going to cut off support at the same time that they launch the new software which puts us right between Froyo and Gingerbread. I'm guessing that they will launch the new Market at the same time as streaming so if I had to bet, I would put my money on late June. That leaves plenty of development time and it leaves Google an extra punch to counter the inevitable iPhone 4 storm.
The market website and market application are pretty independent of the OS, so all those updates dont' have to rely on OS updates.
The simplify media dates would put us at...two weeks from now, around the same time froyo two is "officially" out.
A short great news from Engadget China.
it seems an engadget writer got an internal message from ASUS: Android 3.1 is expected to be released within next week, or even, as early as Tuesday.
source: http://cn.engadget.com/2011/05/27/android-3-1-eee-pad-transformer/
Android 3.1 newfeatures:
-UI refinements
-Connectivity for USB accessories
-Expanded Recent Apps list
-Resizeable Home screen widgets
-Support for external keyboards and pointing devices
-Support for joysticks and gamepads
-Robust Wi-Fi networking
-new browser, calendar, contact and email version
-Performance optimizations
etc.
I just got a brand new Transformer yesterday, turned it on and the first thing it did was ask me to update.
I'm almost certain it was to 3.1, I'll check when I get home tonight, but I have already been using the USB ports on it so it would have to be 3.1 wouldn't it?
I'll let you know once I check the version.
Sweet! That is something to look forward too!

No - the USB ports on the dock already work with 3.0.1 for many devices, so that isn't an indicator.
Chances are that your update is just the one released earlier this month, because your TF was probably on a boat on its way from China at that point in time!

Dave

If its a new Transformer, then the update is most likely the Asus Firmware update rather than Honeycomb 3.1 (sorry to bring rain to a parade)
I received mine yesterday, as soon as when I connected to Wifi, I got the update which is 3.0.1.
I highly doubt its out next Tuesday. Especially after what Asus stated on Facebook a few days ago about the release schedule.
Could be, actually: there's a French review video showing 3.1 running on a TF. So, if it's far enough along to be sent on a review unit, it could very well be close to release.
I'll say, if they DO release it as early as next week (or even just within the first 10 days or so of June), then I'll be even more impressed with how Asus is supporting the TF so far.
Interesting update notif
This morning when I woke up, the device was kind a slow. I did a reboot. When it came on, I got an triangle icon with ! mark within saying that there is system update avail, click for update kind of thing.
I right away clicked it. It shown as downloading system update something but then it disappeared pretty quick. I went into system info page but not seeing anything news in term of android, firmware, wifi, bluetooth.... Did several force update request but nothing. So that was an interesting event.
Not sure if it was a internal Google update (map, music..) as we have heard several days now or Asus posted the OTA Android 3.1 for a quick test and pulled it out right away or something.
Anyway, leave a note here in case anyone else had it too.
With my TF being rooted and running custom ROM and kernel I am at the grace of the devs here anyway to release a modified 3.1
cant wait, ive seen it run on xoom, only a week away.....WOW....... not bad on asus' behalf getting the update out quick

"Even, as early as Tuesday?" Can't wait!
This is available for all countries right?
I was under the impression that support for external keyboards/mice was an ICS feature. Are we sure this is going to be in 3.1? (If so, that's fantastic)

It will likely be released market by market so US will get it first then others, same principle as other updates.

Nope, it's a honeycomb feature.
I noticed when i upgraded to honeycomb 3.1 the android market had the app tab the books tab and the movies tab and was the updated version but now when i upgraded to honeycomb 3.2 all of that is gone is there anyway to update the android market?>
Can anyone help?
I'm not sure that that's a problem that's very common. My Xoom at 3.2 still has everything that 3.1 had.
Just out of curiosity, Are you currently outside the country from where you bought your Xoom? Thing is, the Android Market exists in about 95 countries. Google Movies and Books, on the other hand are available in much fewer, so if you go to any of those countries, the tabs just don't show up.
Hope that helped, although I will need some more info to comprehensively solve your problem.
I am in Canada and it was bought at best buy in canada, another problem is i have a samsung galaxy tablet 7inch and half of the apps on the galaxy market are not showing in my motorola xoom market. It was all working fine on honeycomb 3.1 but i dont know whats wrong with it i emailed the android market support and they were no help at all.
I didn't encounter this issue with my Xoom. Although it may be different for me, as I'm running Tiamat 2.0.1 right now.
Regardless, I believe this market update may have to be downloaded elsewhere. If it doesn't update itself, maybe check online to see if you can find a place to download the update. I know that another website I check for Android news had a download link.
I'm not sure why the tabs don't appear on your Xoom, but I'm still gonna ask - Is your Xoom connected through a VPN which may be causing it to give the market details of another country.
As for the apps not showing up, I'd blame it on the VPN, if you have any, but more emphasis on the fact that your Galaxy Tab isn't honeycomb. It's more of a big phone than a tablet, so a number of phone apps would be showing up on that, which do not show up on a tablet. Viber and Tap-Tap Revenge would be a couple of examples that I could give you.
Hope that Helps.
Project XCloud is coming out soon and the Galaxy View tablets will be the perfect tablets to have portable xbox gaming on the go however the minimum requirements for Project XCloud is 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher! The highest version the original Galaxy View has is 5.1 (Lollipop) now I'm aware their's custom roms for higher android versions but I don't want to strip the original software from Samsung in favor of other roms, is there anything we can do to have the software updated? Mine is the AT&T 64GB Black model that is LTE + Wifi.
Bump, I'm in the exact same boat
AOSP-ish?
What're you guys slow? Lmao! Sry jk! They've already released the Galaxy View 2. Being that the last official update for GV1 is what? 2016; I believe? I don't think there is anything we can do for an official update from Samsung. *shrug* MAYBE try e-signing some type of online petition? Maybe Fakebook? Twatter? (*sp-Squatter) Instascram?
I would also think that Samsung would have to be linked or tagged to make it count. I'm going to take a VERY ROUGH guesstimate on what would actually grab SS Dev's attention: ~10-25k people?
I was actually thinking of the possibility of doing a "just enough" mod of the View2 stock firmware to get it working, they have relatively the same physical attributes and when you .mk the Android Package if conf files are all in order it should work for the most part. Now I'm aware this is STILL not an "official" update/firmware but it's the closest you'll get without them damn lazy devs at SS signing the apks themselves. *shrug*
Feedback?

samsung is as worthless as their tvs! they update once maybe twice the software and then it is dead. because they are too busy trying to rip everyone off for the next $1000 phone or TV to care about keeping their stuff up to date. i have been sitting at 5.1 forever and the tablet lags so much now i have to disable 90% of the apps because they are memory hogs especially google apps. even updating the rom to 6.0 would make the tablet run smoother, but that will never happen.
