what happened...i took out my sd card to switch to my hd2 gingerbread and today i tried to switch back (cause hd2 died) and now the mytouch doesnt turn on or even catch charge
what to do?
yes i was rooted running the most recent iced glacier but ive been running it for weeks no problem...
dis u take it out before, with no issues, or is it the first time u took your sd out while rooted?
mine has done this a couple of times all I had to do was pop battery, wait a few minutes and retry
oh sorry not sd card...i meant sim card i took my sim card out and put it in my hd2 to use it for a day
Lets try some trouble shooting before you call t-mobile for a replacement and Run the risk of getting a **** screen.
Take the battery out and plug it in and then leave it without the battery for a couple minutes aand then plug it back in and then put the battery while its plugged in and hope the charging led comes on.

I had the same problem. Mine was completely stock and had been out of the box for only a few hours. Due to the fact that I had won the phone rather than bought it I couldn't just exchange it and I didn't want to risk a refurbished one or take the 2+ weeks to ship the phone to get it fixed, so I just went to a store.
T-mobile has a policy where they will do an in store warranty exchange for their myTouch line. If they don't have any exchange kits in stock (which they never do ) then they have to give you a new one.
Try that before insurance or warranty.
your battery may have too low power for it to recharge. Use a 9v to give it a jump start for about 1 min and then plug into phone with the usb charger connected. This should startup the phone.
How to recharge via 9volt? Find out + and - terminals on battery and use regular copper shielded speaker wire to jump start it.
If this re-occurs in future, get a replacement battery.
Hope that helps

So you're telling me I don't have to go through the phone and have to wait for them to ship me a new one and send mines in? And I could just go to the store and exchange it?
What if you don't have the box anymore.?

I brought my box in with the phone, but they just took a new phone out of a box and gave it to me. You don't need the box because it's not a return, it's an exchange. As long as they can verify your warranty or you have PHP you shouldn't have a problem.
Oh yeah, they'll only do this for a mytouch. Not any other phone.
Just leave the battery out for an hour then try it all again.
ok i took the phone to tmobile, they said they would give me a battery but they didnt have any supposedly but they had some mytouch 4gs they took apart so idk...im still without my mytouch because i want to try the battery if thats the problem because im rooted i dont want to send it in and have them turn it on and see im running a rom

Alright so today I called Verizon and told them that my new Droid X has been randomly rebooting, I called the main support line at 18009220204. I told them that I looked online and that the only way to fix this issue was getting a new phone. The guy immediately told me that he was sending my out a new phone. While he was putting my order in, he told me that they have been having problems with several devices. Rooting does not cause your device to reboot. He said that the env touch had it so bad that it would reboot almost every 30 min.
You should not have to fight for this. Just call that number and tell them that your phone has been rebooting and you want a new phone, Make sure to tell them not a Refurbished one.... you bought it new you should get it new...
i had this problem a couple weeks ago and the rep said i was the first to report that problem, guess its starting to spread all over now... even my friend is reporting this problem. the sad part of all this, i work as a vz retail agent, not a dx in sight.
The Guy I spoke to said its been happening on about 5 to 6 devices over two years and they have no clue what it is so all they can do is send out a new phone and you send yours back...

Refurb or brand new??
I am on the phone right now and they are having double finding a NEW phone for me. But I told them that I don't want a return since I have only had the phone for more than two weeks.

So Verizon wanted me to give them a credit card and pay them for another phone until they got mine back. WTF. I told them where they could stuff it. Then magically they said they would just zero out the price and send me the phone. Then the tech said he would call me back in 15 minutes. Which he never dis. I had to call back and go through it all over again. Well in the end, I was told that I would be sent just the phone with no battery or battery cover. Was told it would not be a return over and over but it sounds like a return to me. I guess I will have to wait and see. What does everyone think?

I just got one too, and it is rebooting like MOFO.... gonna hop on the phone again and make ANOTHER call........
I called yesterday, and they "walked" me through a factory reset. It was tough not telling the lady I've done it a hundred times on my original droid lol. A reset and a freeze today and I called again, and now they're sending me another one. It is definitely a NEW device, as I'm within my 30 day window (seems like I should get a new one regardless, since I bought a new one, but oh well I'm good anyways). The tech guy also told me froyo was already rolling out, though only to 10 or 20 thousand at a time. I thought he was confusing this with the droid 1, so I checked, but the guy has a droid x and was sure. Said he checks his multiple times daily. This is far from concrete or official, but interesting nonetheless.

so if they take your phone and dont give you a battery or back or sd card do you have to buy them or do you keep yours before you send it in? because im having trouble with mine rebooting.
My phone, sadly, reboots too and I'm getting a battery replacement.
Just curious, when you get a replacement, do they ask for the old one back or not? Do they give you something to sent it in?
My original phone was rebooting, so I had them ship me a new one. They charged me for the new phone and said they would zero it when I sent back the other. Shipping took like 5 days, and the phone I got was in the box with charger, battery, sd card, power cable etc. This phone had a worse problem -- blown speaker. So I got them to send me ANOTHER (wasn't so easy when they saw I already got a replacement, and they hadn't even received my original phone in the mail yet). But I finally convinced them, and this time, they didn't charge me for it, but only made me sign something saying that if they didn't get my first two phones in the mail, I would have to pay for all 3. This time, I talked them into sending it to me on a Friday night, and by monday morning I received it. This one was different though in that it was just the phone (no battery, battery cover, cord, sd card, etc). As far as I could tell, it was BRAND NEW, not refurbished.
Leads me to think that when they restocked, they started sending just the phone as replacements. I don't think it means they're refurbished.
I wouldn't accept that. I don't want some one going into my box and taking crap out. I would tell them that you want a brand new never been opened box. Still taped up

I called in and had my phone checked. They DID send me a reconditioned one.
When I pointed out that I paid for a new phone, this is what they told me (after refusing to send me a new phone):
"Well when you paid for a new phone thats what you got, but what you needed replaced was your then used phone. So to replace your used phone, we sent you a used one..."
What can I do, any tips? I mean, this phone has no problems, but still, I feel like I got jipped. I paid for a new phone and got a BROKEN one, even if it was new. I feel that they should give me a new phone, but apparently they don't think so. I don't want to walk around with this phone thinking how someone might have dropped it and then returned it, and now I have it.
i would try and get it swapped out...or it coud be a battery issue
reconditioned
can anyone tell me whats wrong with a reconditioned phone if it works? i mean when something happens thats what you get.

Hi guys!
I was using my X10 just now and i wanted to charge it cuz i needed to record something for my interview tomorrow. So I decided to plug in the charger, it was at 34% at that time, and everything was fine; the orange light was on and it was charging. Then I was browsing through some stuff and then the phone slipped out of my hand but I caught (kung fu skills ) in time but seemed to grabbed it too hard. I put my phone down for a while and when I went back to check it, the orange light was off and it wasn't charging anymore so I thought i accidentally kicked the charger or something. I unplugged it, and plugged it back and nothing. It doesn't work when I connect it to my laptop either. I tried taking the batteries out, waited a while and plugged it back again and it's still not working funny thing is when I turned the phone back on, it went down from 34% to 21% in about 5 minutes, and I wasn't even fiddling with the phone. I don't know if it's a hardware problem or software problem cuz I might have put too much pressure on the charger port and cracked it or something. I checked it but it seems fine. I really don't know what to do, and the Search function in this forum doesn't work either! I need the phone for tomorrow cuz I have this interview assignment thing...holycrap! what a bad day. Help, please? anyone??
Only real quick solution to get you through that interview is to buy a wallcharger in wich you put your battery. And regarding the damage it sounds hardware related, hope you have insurance! You might get lucky though if you return it for warranty but remember, there's usually a fee if they think the damage was man-made. Good luck with the phone and on your interview!

I heard about the wall charger before, but what use would it be if I can't connect my phone to the computer anyways I've had the X10 for about 3-4 months now, I hope the warranty service is still covered. Not sure if it'll work especially cuz I'm not the carrier's customer ((
So you need to access stuff that's on the phone? Or you need to access the stuff that's on the phone *with the phone*?
The first one's easy. Just buy a micro sd adapter and you can plug it into your computer (assuming it has one of those ports)
The second one.. need some more info before advising what to do. I didn't get what exactly the information is that you need to access. Is it a recording, notes, pictures, what?

A bill of sale is all you need and it can be fixed. have Rogers call the repair depot in Newmarket and make sure they have one, then take a drive they will take a look and swap it out usually in a few days.

You mean the receipt for the X10? I still have it but I'm not actually with Rogers. I got my friend that's with Rogers to buy the phone for me in case something like this happens, I don't know if they'll let me or not cuz I rooted my phone and all. I think i'll try and unroot it and put it back to Rogers firmware. Thanks for the advice
I'm from the UK and had exactly the same problem. I had to send it back to SE and they gave me a new unit. I had no proof of puchase though as I lost it awhile ago :/. But all in all it worked out well. They never told me what was wrong with the phone though.

yes i was rooted running the most recent iced glacier but ive been running it for weeks no problem...
Just do a warranty exchange. Tell them it won't turn on or charge. As long as it doesn't have any liquid damage or been dropped it should be fine.
Do keep in mind that if they somehow get it to turn on and see that its been rooted they'll void the warranty and charge you for a new phone.

They will not be 2.3 unless they were made or remanufactured after June 5th. I think u will still be able to get one with 2.2 but it will be close. I got my new one yesterday and it was remaned on 5/31 so it looks like u have about 10 days from reman to the time u receive it. Just be careful because they may try to update it in store before u get it even if u ask them not to.
are u paying the deductible?
No deductible .. the usb port separated from the motherboard

$35 for Repair???
I had the same issue with the usb port. Called sprint and they said i would be charged $35 for having the phone checked. Took the phone to Repair store, got a replacement phone and no one mentioned anyting about $35 fee.
It hasn't been a year since i got the phone, maybe this is why.
I had the same exact thing with the micro usb port failing in mine and they mailed me a replacement by next day, it was loaded with 2.3. This was on June 10th when I got it mine. Bonus though: Hardware version 004 =)
you could have a new usb port put on the motherboard
contact this guy http://myworld.ebay.com/phone-guy
I think he can fix those
after that happened to my first evo.. I got several extended batteries. I never use the usb. I carry spare batteries.
got them from this guy http://stores.ebay.com/tuttoit?_rdc=1

I was unaware Sprint would do that for people. I wonder how much convincing it would take to get them to do it. If I got a phone with the new OTA I'd be right down there giving them a zillion reasons as to why I must get Froyo back. (there are a lot of legitimate reasons)
This afternoon my DZ decided to die. I checked the phone and then 10 minutes later went to ring my wife and... nothing, phone wouldn't respond to the power button. I whipped out the battery and left it out for 2 minutes but still nothing.
I have since tried plugging in the charger and again nothing, not even the orange charging light. Tried leaving the battery out for 1/2 hour and removing the memory and sim cards and even plugging in the charger with the cards and battery removed, but still nothing.
looks like it's serious.
I have had the phone 11 months, I got it from a little shop (well booth really) that was branded as HTC in the local Westfield shopping centre. The little shop has now disappeared. The phone is sim unlocked and not tied to a carrier. When I dug out the receipt it is in the name of a company called Westcoast Mobile. They have a website (www.westcoast.co.uk) but they seem to be a rather diverse company but not one that sells phones to the public.
Consequently I was planning on calling HTC on Monday to see if I can get the phone sent off for repair. Does anyone know if I'm likely to have problems with HTC or will they be happy to help me?
In the mean time I have dug out my trusty HTC Typhoon which is currently synching my email and charging up. Old phone but it does the job and I love the size and shape of it.
HTC warranty is one yr. Should be ok. I bought mine used so I always fixed mine myself. But you bought yours new.

My suggestion is this:
Try buying a new battery , maybe it will fix the problem
Also if the phone will be recovered , take care of this with buying a new silicon case or something like this. Today my DZ cashed by up to 2M and nothing problem , sceen perfect i got luck.
Also i add if you realy love the phone , and the repair cost is to much , buy one used on ebay like me. I have bought one for 220€ @ 170£ , with 23months of guaranty and it's perfect.
Good luck mate

I'm wondering whether they had some sort of tie in with HTC as the booth was completely branded as HTC anad they were selling sim free phones on any network.
I got a phone from them because:
1. They had the DZ and I could have for free by renewing my contract with O2.
2. The sales bloke could string a sentence together unlike the fool in the O2 shop.

I'm a Brit too and I had a pretty similar issue just a few months back. The bizarre part is I wasn't even doing anything "risky".
Get in touch with HTC ASAP. They were really good to me.
I contacted them via their website (you'll need the serial number/IMEI). Very polite and helpful responses and offered courier pickup for mainland UK addresses.
Didn't take long at all for a repair, and I believe it was back with me in 2-3 days.
I can't speak for their phone support, other than that they called me to check if the phone was still working okay and asked if they could close the ticket. An unexpected touch, but appreciated.
Motorola barely lifted a finger for me when dealing with my MS2 issues... but that is another story.
Since you have the receipt, you should be fine. Again, just get in touch!
I warn you, it will most likely come back with gingerbread like mine did, but you can still downgrade and root (if you so choose) using the guides on here.

Thanks for that, it gives me a bit more confidence. It's just annoying the phone was in my pocket in a sleeve for 15 minutes and it just died.
Well I rang them on Monday morning, at first they wanted to send me a new battery but I pointed out it didn't do anything without the battery when you plugged the charger in. The bloke had to check with his supervisor then came back and said "let's arrange to pick the phone up". I had to email them a copy of the receipt from when I bought the phone and that was that.
They emailed me a form and a label, I boxed up the phone and a courier picked it up Tuesday afternoon. Pretty straightforward really.
Just waiting to hear that they have the phone now.
Got the phone back this morning, so exactly 7 days from calling HTC to having a working phone again. I think that is pretty good service.
Seems like the problem was pretty terminal as the phone has returned with a new IMEI and according to the paperwork with the phone it has had the "PCBA" and "flash board" replaced.
The phone even came in a little box with "I'm back" printed on it.

All free, didn't cost me a penny.
The bloke I spoke to at HTC told me I had a two year warranty after he had spoken with his supervisor.
Is that two years from the purchese date or the repair date (as in did they extend the warrenty for you)
It will be 2 years from the purchase date. The paperwork with the phone when it comes back says something along the lines of you don't get any extra warranty after the repair date.
