Hello,
We all know our bluetooth 3.0 is missing something like HID ( am i correct? )
And because of that we can't connect bluetooth devices to it, like Keyboards and Game controllers... Even heard some bluetooth stereo sets won't connect to it, like BMW's embedded ones ( am I correct again? xD )
Has samsung said anything about this HUGE issue? I find it HUGE because it is the only wall i "see" between using the full potential of this device or not using it and think how it would be if i could....
Best regards
BT is not damaged, so there is no fixing
but it can be improved to include more profiles to support more devices
supposedly in 2.2 we might get additional hardware support like the BT keyboards, mouse and such

That would mean a profile which would allow us to finally connect a WiiMote ?
And in my opinion the BT is damaged, and needs fixing, it is unacceptable not being able to connect a Bluetooth headset to your 450€ Device
That is how i see things, others may not see it that way, but hey, we are free to have our own opinions right?
as it is right now
the BT is able to connect to standard mono headsets, and stereo headsets
as well as GPS satellite, and Car Stereos (i use it all the time great base/sub!)
it has profiles to transfer files via BT
from my point of view it's pretty complete, with the minor exception of the missing HID keyboard/mouse/game controllers support
the missing BT Profile is more like a missing Driver to support those last 3 devices
Just install blue input or get apps from google to install kb hid. Bt isn't missing anything in sgs. Screw wii input. How many. Normal bt devices do you know can accept wii as input without 3rd party drivers

install this app/driver
Wiimote controller
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid
I'm pretty sure that Vibrant/SGS isn't supported by that application, AllGamer.

Where is your proof? If that's the case then why did they make wii 3rd party driver? Seriously if you are going to ***** over a small thing like wii remote and kb hid (fixable if you find my bt kb fix in other postings ) then return the sgs and get a more mature phone like the google nexus one god phone. It seems everyone is whining and *****ing over nothing cosidering this phone is brand new without mature software. Every phone has bugs.

agree with ickyboo
my though exactly

Ironically enough, your "fix" was posted on the forum for the product on dealextreme, doesn't say what phone the fix is for, and doesn't work on the SGS.
BT is missing something in the SGS - the 3rd party apps you believe would fix the issue don't work. hcitool doesn't recognise a local BT device, and so can't connect to anything, all the wiimote apps error on connection - this is not a lack of profiles, it's a lack of (or at the very least, different; different enough to cause a whole host of devices and 3rd party apps to be incompatible with the SGS) implementation one way or another.
Please, try your fixes before you go preaching "screw wii input".

My proof?
G1, Magic, Desire, Nexus , Milestone and X10 Mini Pro all have HID drivers... I tested them all.
You should know that by now, every Vanilla android device and devices with vanilla intact BT connect to wiimotes...

How do you use your Galaxy as an MP3 player for car audio?! You said good Bass, but isn't bluetooth audio only MONO?
Thanks
I tried as well, it was stereo and worked great!

Perhaps he connected it to something with proper bluetooth compatibility, so it didn't matter that the SGS has BT3.0 as backward compatibility worked as it should?

Er, you do know that bass frequencies don't only exist in stereo signals, right?
New bluez update from HTC
Link to site not working properly so go to:
http://developer.htc.com/
And click download link for:
Droid Incredible MR by HTC(Verizon) BlueZ Source Code
Admittedly not too knowledgeable on this so if anyone has more info, I'll update thread accordingly.
Link must have been removed. It forwards to main site now.
http://developer.htc.com/
does anyone know the changes made?
Given the "BlueZ" in the filename, it would seem fair to assume that the source code has something to do with Bluetooth functionality. It doesn't look like an update.
Bluetooth for one, but not sure what it is yet. Still not home but trying to file surf a bit straight from phone
i believe its related to some new bluetooth protocol and may support connecting multiple bluetooth devices... http://www.bluez.org/about/
so lets keep the excitement down abt the new htc update
It looks to me like it's just the bluez source along with the broadcom specific stuff with it. Maybe they are finally getting around to releasing it.The bluez version in the changelog is ver 4.47 which is not the newest. Maybe some one could update the bluetooth stack with the newest version of bluez now that we have the broadcom stuff?
bluetooth has never worked reliably for me, so i hope this works.
connects to car just fine, but i also have a RIM bluetooth stereo adpater. works great with BB, and iphones. but if i turn the car on, and both try to connect at the same time, INC thinks its connected, but sound only like 50% of the time.
i hope this resolves it as i've gone back to a wired connection for music.
Did anyone ever follow up on this? Has it been implemented anywhere? Just curious.
Hi,
So I have been looking for information on which bluetooth mice work with the samsung vibrant. I currently have an apple bluetooth keyboard working well with the vibrant, but I'd love to have a mouse as well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
EDIT: Here is a video of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with his vibrant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21aVbYpgrRA - so how do we do it with a mouse and pointer?
EDIT:His XDA post can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8447646

Don't think this would work - there's no on-screen cursor.
Ditto. I remember Cyanogen added it as a feature not too many revisions back, so it isn't part of AOSP. Unless Samsung choose to add it... You can see where that is going.
So this is a video I saw a while back of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard AND MOUSE on his Vibrant. I'd like to do the same. How do I do it, and what mice will work? I know you two said that it can't be done, but this is proof otherwise.

I suggest you contact him. He mentions using a leaked build, so it definitely isn't a mainstream feature yet.
edit .. Bluetooth HID is a standard, so all you really need to do is figure out what build he found it in and any bluetooth mouse should work.
Okay, so I found his XDA post under the i9000 section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8447646
mouse definitely works.. i use Apple's Mighty Mouse (pass: 0000) wireless without a problem... the scroll wheel works as the ones on the older HTC models...
Hey,
Does anyone know how to get a bluetooth keyboard (microsoft wireless entertainment 7000) to work with SE Arc? Woud be great to hook phone up to TV and use that to browse web......Also pairing a mouse would be pretty handy feature?
I've researched it, and apparently Androind 2.3 does have a HID implementation but its not simply a case of activating in the UI?
Cheers!
even after the 4.2.2 update bluetooth is still not fully working?
Does anyone here use blueput droid ? Basically turns your phone into a touchpad and keyboard for other devices.. but on every rom, i get "bluetooth stack not supported try a rom like cyanogen" but even on cm10.1 i get this -__-
any help?
I get a different issue. If Bluetooth is enabled the Wi-Fi cuts out on certain streaming apps like Skype, groove ip, and even Google + when scrolling quickly through the feed.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

I'm not perfectly clear on the exact reasons, but what I've heard is the BT is wonky because Google switched from a closed source, more compatible BT source to a less reliable open source to be more compliant with the open standard that Android is trying to promote. In doing so, it broke some of the functions. They're trying to fix it and did part-way with 4.2.2. Maybe they'll get there eventually, but not in the near-future, I don't think.
Other manufacturers have a second BT stack that they use that is closed source that makes it more compatible with BT devices.
At least that's what I've heard and what I remember. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but thought I'd like to spread the info. It's not the fault of the devs, it's Google.
