AT& T Galaxy S4 i337- trying to unlock, need help with Odin

I've got an AT&T Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3 with the mk2 modem. I'm trying to unlock to get it on T-mobile and dealing with the nasty region lock.
I've rooted my phone, but now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to flash my modem back to mdl.
I'm trying to used Method 2 in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595457, but it doesn't give enough details for this noob, who knows nothing about Odin, other than I've downloaded and installed v. 3.09 on my laptop.
How do I use Odin to do this?

I've tried so hard to software unlock an S4 I bought that was running 4.3. In the end, I just gave up. There's really no way you're going to get the old modem + servicemode on there again. I absolutely HATE Knox. I just ended up buying an unlock code for the phone, then doing the AWS mod.

Install Samsung drivers, plug the phone in, open ODIN, and load the MDL modem into the CP slot. Flash and hope it works.

GT-i9505 S4 (Globe Telecom) Rooting and Flashing

Greetings GS4 Community! (just moved from LG Optimus Black)
I just got this GT-i9505 Galaxy S4 and it's openline but the signal bar has a letter "R" above it which I assume to be roaming. I'm having some thoughts on flasing custom ROMS and I was wondering if that would affect my current network status? I'm worried that if I flash a new custom ROM, the phone will be locked on the carrier (Globe). Not rooted yet and I was wondering if you could help me out here
No, it won't affect your network status nor be locked on your carrier. :good:

If the phone was neverlocked then flashing won't change anything.
But if the phone was locked and then unlocked at some point, it might lock it back.
It depends on the unlock type used. Some unlocks are permanent.
But if you bought it unlocked from the store/carrier, then there is nothing to worry about.

Rooting can be done without the need of a custom recovery.
Did you un-tick re-partition in Odin before trying to flash?

the unit is from Globe and I have this annoying globe bootlogo at startup
UPDATE: Got to flash the custom recovery and use a custom rom Lollirom V9.0 the problem was the sync cable not sending enough current to the phone which causes the issues with the odin.
For those who have the same carrier and baseband, you can safely flash a custom recovery (CWM) and flash a custom ROM. It will be fine, networks still there even after I updated the modem to PA1. Goodluck

[SOLVED] Cannot flash bootloader or modem/baseband (won't stick!)

I'm on an N9005. I did not know about Knox when I first got it (came from an S3) and flashed TWRP and Cyanogen (unofficial v13 MM). Funnily enough I tripped Knox 0x1. Since then the phone comes up as custom, etc. and no matter what I do it stays that way, even on completely stock ROM. I have tried Triangle Away but it made no difference (stock rom, rooted with CF Auto Root).
I'm on Arch Linux so I flash everything via Heimdall. Everything else flashes fine, but the bootloader and modem flashes will not stick. I have tried on a Windows PC with Odin as well and didn't work with Odin either. I have tried the trick of flashing and then booting straight back into DL mode and flashing again, but that did not work either.
I have tried flashing the BL/BB on multiple different ROMS, didn't work. I even experimented with flashing the stock rom but with the updated BL/BB files - didn't work and bootlooped so I had to reflash stock. I've tried a different kernel, no difference.
It keeps the original original BL/BB no matter what I do. This phone was originally bought in another country and thus far I have only been able to flash it with the stock rom of that country. If I use my own country's (New Zealand) stock rom, it boot loops.
Could it be refusing this particular BL and BB build? Should I try an older build and see if that works? Or is this a problem related to something else? How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance!
You need to power off the phone completely before flashing them. If doesn't work remove battery for a few seconds then retry. Do not flash with reboot into download mode from rom's power menu.

Flash bootloader twice without reboot.
Don't let the phone get into OS.
Remove the battery and flash the boot loader twice. It will stick.

Thank you!!!! Pulling the battery was the missing piece!
I was powering off the phone fully before booting into D/L and then flashing (twice over). Removing the battery beforehand has finally made it stick. Thank you muchly! This was driving me nut so really appreciate you taking the time in aswering

Do you know if this still takes effect on new(er) phones? I have an S5 Mini. I'm flashing with Debian heimdall (just param.bin, i'm trying to change the bootlogo). I took out the battery before booting to D/L, and flashed twice (removing battery between flashes). Heimdall reports success, and if I pull the partition with root+dd, I can see my changes. It just doesn't change the logo.:crying: This is driving me crazy,
Thanks in advance,
Hackintosh5
P.S. Please tell me if you think this should be a separate thread!

Instead of booting into the OS have you tried booting into recovery.
Volume home and volume plus combo
Usually there are some patches so the OS doesn't overwrite the Recovery.

No, you've misunderstood. I'm trying to flash a bootlogo to the PARAM (.bin) partition, not recovery. Should I try to make an odin package?
I would ask in your phones forum.
Most of Notes cannot modify param.bin

Use Odin 3.04,
Maybe the BL you tryna stick is older than the one you already have?
Flash, reboot & pull off the battery when it begins to load bootanimation.
Do it again for 3 times at least.
I could downgrade to KitKat bootloader this way.

doesn't work.
yeas. it's older than my current bootloader.
i did all things with odin 3.04 but didn't change the bootloader.
in odin 3.04 it has an option "phone bootloader update", do i need to check this? default is unchecked.

Of course you need to check it.
Other than that, is the bootloader packed with NON-HLOS.bin or just the *.mbn files?
I mean, is it ~7 MB in size or ~1.7 MB?
You may need to flash a modem file as well to enforce the BL?
If all that didn't work, there's one proved way that will work, use a box (software).

no it's just mbn files almost 1.7 MB.
i've checked boot loader update and didn't work again. modem got update at the first time but BL doesn't.

You don't give a whole lot of information as to the processes you tried or "custom firmware " you installed or can you get to download mode.
More information is needed

i can get into download mode but i can't flash rom via it
Going to try help you here best as I can.
I ran into the issue. And basically it's a lock that prevents you from doing anything due to your phone running a custom rom. I don't know what triggers it but it is a security feature to prevent someone flashing a custom rom to get easier access to your data (Think back to the whole FBI vs Apple saga)
What you have to do is flash a completely stock ROM with Odin. Phone wouldn't allow a ROM other than a Samsung signed ROM. What I did was download the Stock ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065
Now I flashed all the different parts of the ROM with Odin and your phone in download mode. They should flash as this is a Stock ROM.
Sadly I don't know enough to know which ones you have to do as I just did them all and allowed me to use my phone again but did lose any data that was on the device.
I do not know enough about this stuff and what I have said is from my experience with the exact issue are describing on my S7 Edge. Really hope it helps.

bro just flash the original firmware and not twrp as it requires oem unlocking and if it still doesn't work then try to use an older version of odin or a newer version of it and check if ur files are up to date and not corrupt

Soft bricked Phone

I soft bricked my s7 edge while trying to install TWRP, I rooted the phone and not reading *yes don't kill me* didn't realize the tmobile version has a locked bootloader, so here I am with a soft brick phone at work trying to fix it, it seems I need a stock image for me to put it back to stock, but if there is a stock rooted rom that would be better, can someone guide me in the right direction?
